"I've been on the 6 day dose package of Medrol for asthma on & off for many years. I discovered that it also helps the inflammation in my joints. I go from having to use inhalers & a neubulizer albuterol machine for my asthma to completely normal. It helps my arthritic knees and gives me energy. I can't take cortisone shots in my knees but every 3 months. The doctor doesn't like to give me Medrol often either, because it can cause your sugar to run high (I'm Type II Diabetic) and it can cause you to gain weight. The weight gain is not so evident, but my blood sugar does run higher. That's the only bad side to this medication. Otherwise, I would love to take it ALL the time. I sleep better and I feel more myself. My neck was also hurting me before I started taking it two days ago. Hope this helps someone!"

Medrol Dosepak (methylprednisolone) "Was hesitant to take Medrol Dosepak for my lower back pain after reading other reviews. I took the Medrol Dosepak and the only possible side effect was minor stomach pain. Also, it helped fix my back pain after one day."

Depo-Medrol (methylprednisolone) "My primary doc actually gave me a shot of this when I threw my back out. I never felt better. I went back to him and told him not only did it help with my back, but with may fibromyalgia! My rheumatologist had given me all sorts of pills to try and I felt like like a science experiment! I usually get it 1-2 times a year. I stretch it out until I know I can't take it anymore and my body tells me- "help"- it has done me wonders! I can get back on my feet and be me within a day or 2 depending on how bad I am. No more docs pushing pills down my throat or telling me it's all in my head, & I can get outta bed when the alarm goes off- not hitting snooze and for 2 hours and Practically in tears! I know my body N it works for me! Good luck!"

"Over the last 15 years, I have thrown my back out 3 times. Twice doing work in the yard doing something ill advised (reaching and lifting heavy items) leaving me stranded lying down in the yard until someone in my family noticed me lying in the middle of the yard. The first time, after 2 days where I was in intense pain and could not move, my doctor prescribed a Medrol dose pack because I could not stay home from work any longer. It worked quickly and by the next day I could move around again (relatively pain free). The second and third time, it took 2-3 days for it to start feeling better but it worked. I did not experience panic attacks or anxiety as others have on this site but each person's reaction to the drug will clearly be different."

Medrol Dosepak (methylprednisolone) "I have a herniated disc in my lower back that flares up a few times a year. I caught it just before the muscles went into spasm and took this dose pack. After taking the first six pills on day one, I felt 90% better. I finished the six-day prescription and didn’t have another flareup for a week. I’m hoping my doctor will prescribe it again, and I’ll have to get back to my physical therapy exercises. The drug was a life saver for me with no side effects that I could tell."

"I had a very bad experience with this drug methylprednisolone. I have a knee problem Patellofemoral pain syndrome, the amount of side effect that I had from using it is behind imagination: headache, nausea , depression, confusion, restlessness, anxiety, eye pain, urinating real often( like every 15 minutes) that I was actually start to feel pain during urination, irregular heart rhythm( very fast), and more... I took the first day six pills , once in the morning on the day after and I quit that was enough for me I could not bear it anymore. It's felt like a poison to me and even didn't solve my knee problem, to my surprise some of the side effects last for almost a year after I stop taking it. But thank goodness I think it's over by now. It was awful and I wish I knew better before I took it. I think that if its not a life threatening condition there is no way that I'm using it in the future!!!! and I wish they will find some substitute for this asap"

Medrol Dosepak (methylprednisolone) "I was experiencing unusual headaches and I was prescribed Medrol 6 pack for inflammation. Day1-I took the all 6 together because I got them in the evening I felt a lil heartburn and slept for 2 hours that night Day2-after every dose I experienced discomfort in my stomach, heartburn , backaches, couldn’t sleep that night and sweating. Day3-the heartburn continued , my headaches was overwhelming, my chest was hurting with burning sensations, dizziness, overly energized and backaches. So I went to the ER they told me to stop taking the methylprednisolone medication due to the side effects. Now I’m back to square one with the headaches and side effects from this bad experience of Medrol. How long do these side effects last anyone knows?"

Depo-Medrol (methylprednisolone) "Got a epidural steroid injection (ESI) in T5/6 and felt a sharp pain. Procedure went well after that. One month later strange pains in spine started. Never told of any risks or ESI. Now in HORRIBLE PAIN in low back, neck and mid back 4 months later. MRI shows nothing and doctors think I am crazy. Trust me- I am not crazy. This stuff is poison. I think I may be in for a life of misery."

"I've had intermittent hip pain for many years, it really picked about three weeks ago with, at times, intolerable pain. Even with a pain pill I had difficulty sleeping sitting, always favoring my right hip to avoid the pain. After taking the Medrol dose pack, for two days the pain began to subside, The pain is now gone and dare I say I feel great! Hope it lasts!!!"

MethylPREDNISolone Dose Pack (methylprednisolone) "2 years ago I was diagnosed with reactive arthritis likely caused by an allergic reaction to the antibiotic ciprofloxacin. I had severe pain in wrist, shoulders, and gluteus. I am allergic to aspirin and all anti-inflammatory medications. My rheumatologist gave me an injection of methylprednisolone. Within 8 hours I was pain free. However, within a week or so the pain returned. I then started taking 10 mg daily which was very helpful for a year. I reduced my dosage to 4 mg every other day for about 10 months. I stopped taking May 5 2016. I still have wrist pain but bearable. I have had no apparent side effects during or after taking the drug. Note. An every other day dose is recommended in the PDR which I followed for the last year."

"Took this medication for about four days after being diagnosed with strep throat. Stopped on day 4 due to anxiety and panic setting in. Thought the side effects would be gone by now- I’ve been off of this medication 10 days. I’ve even been taking anti anxiety meds and still can’t sleep at night. If anyone has any advice on how to counteract this safely then please let me know!"

"Gave it 9 out of 10 as it did make me feel queasy. My most recent 'episode' with my cervical spine spun my world upside down. An inflamed and angry nerve is unlike anything else. I can't express how much pain I was experiencing...excruciating doesn't do it justice. Anyway, I don't like to take any kind of medication, but was willing to sell my soul to the devil at this point. After taking all 6 pills on day 1, I immediately felt relief, not 100%, but SO much better! Day 2 began good, but as the day went on there was an increase in nerve pain. Day 3 was a rollercoaster day, but still noticed improvement. Day 4 and 5 showed improvement (until I got hit with a water balloon) Day 6, was still sore, but better. I hope the healing continues."

Medrol Dosepak (methylprednisolone) "I use a Medrol Dosepak when my Ankylosing Spondylitis (spinal arthritis-not rheumatoid or osteoarthritis) is in a bad flare with painful, swollen joints. The side effect I always get for a couple of days is severe hip and lower back bone pain. But once that goes away the drug works wonders! That's why many of us call it "the drug with a double edged sword" It works amazingly but can have side effects for some people. I give it a high rating because it gives me back a much higher quality of life."

"I have had a bad back since 21, I am 35 years old now, I have suffered in pain at all times but the occasional flare up of throwing my back out went from once a year to everyday. But then I fell flat in my butt hard a few months ago and one of the slipped discs decided to push up against my nerve and I was in complete bed rest. I could barely make it to the toilet and to sit on the toilet was hell not to mention the wonderful job of wiping! Finally went to a back doctor she gave me this. So far a miracle, I am only on day 3 but so far the pain went from a unbearable 10 to a bearable 5. I have some side effects happening, insomnia, Diarrhea, but I could not sleep anyway with the pain and I need to move around! Good luck to you all"

MethylPREDNISolone Dose Pack (methylprednisolone) "I have pudendal nerve pain and methylprednisolone works amazingly for it. Best thing out there. A little jittery at first but manageable. I am very sensitive to so many meds and can barely take anything. This works so well. A god send. I was at my wits end when Doc let me have this. I was able to work without pain and feel like myself. Unlike other meds, that barely work and make you feel like you are on another planet"

Solu-Medrol (methylprednisolone) "I was diagnosed with acute laryngopharyngitis which inflamed my throat, tonsills, and mouth. My body didn't react to amoxicillin so I went a whole weekend in severe pain. Wentt to my docs office at 10am Monday, was hospitalized by 1pm, Solu Medrol by 2pm and pain free by 7pm. Over the course of three days I was very moody, stomach and chest pain, constipation, and never slept but once discharged after 3 days of treatment I was back to my old self within 48hours. The side effects are bad but the effects are heaven sent for pain and inflammation. I have heard the same about Multiple Sclerosis and gout sufferers. God bless you all!"

"I took this after extensive dental work I had on a tooth. The tooth seemed fine and it was determined either my jaw muscles (due to being open so long for the work) or the swelling of my gums were causing my extreme pain (for 5+ days). Advil was helping but once it wore off the pain would return and I was getting an upset stomach from so much advil. Was put on a 6 day medrol pack to see if it would reduce the swelling. After taking the first pill, the pain was gone. After I finished the pills, the severe pain has not come back. The side effects were pretty mild - just a bit of jumpiness and jitteriness - WAY more tolerable than the pain I had been in. I wanted to write a positive review because this medicine really helped me"

Medrol Dosepak (methylprednisolone) "The product is an effective bullet as I tend to get pneumonia bi-annually due to a compromised immune system (Lupus). I have been diagnosed with Osteo-necrosis caused by the steroid usage. In addition, it tends to make me extremely jittery and anxious, extraordinarily dizzy, unable to focus, nauseous, and to have blurred vision. (These might be an allergic reaction to the product, but am unsure). It HAS saved me many a trip for an extensive stay in the hospital and feel comfortable stating that while I have multiple side effects, the benefit most certainly outweighs them. "

"You have to be self aware. Read the label. It tells you about pre existing conditions and interaction issues. Don't be ignorant have a history of this or that take the med and then complain the medication sucks. Children's aspirin can cause similar side effects if you have a condition that doesn't mix well with it. With that being said I took the 6 pills last night and haven't been able to stand up out of bed without a cane in over six weeks. I woke up this morning and I'm standing freely writing this review with no support. All be it my condition isn't from a sprain or twist or backache. It's from a yet to be determined inflammatory disease that has had me on crutches and canes for the past month and a half. be self aware."
