Lidocaine Viscous (lidocaine) "Was prescribed this for a severe sore throat. I was really nervous to take this because it’s more like a gel. I measured out 10 ml and swished it around and then swallowed. The medicine tastes like lube. That’s the only thing I can compare it to. And my mouth is numb but it didn’t really do anything to my sore throat."

"I've began using Lidocaine 5% patches made by Qualitest for neck, back spinal pain. The patches stuck like glue and were very effective. Eventually insurance no longer covered them! I was able to get more ...some were Qualitest, but then they switched to the Mylan patch... what a horrible product!! They are extremely hard to apply, then crinkle and fall off within hours...giving little to no relief from the spinal pain. I'm sure they are expensive... and I end up using many more of these cheapo Mylan patches than the "good" patches. PLEASE get rid of them, they are worthless... Stick to a reliable product that is worth the money paid for them!!! Make the "good" ones affordable!!!"

"Initially used the Watson 700 mg patches and experienced great pain relief. Since my Rx was renewed, my pharmacy filled the prescription to Milan 140 mg. These are the WORST. They are absolutely useless and a complete waste of money. In addition to having an insufficient amount of medication, they are extremely uncomfortable and do not stay on your skin. There is no reason to ever use these things except to line the bottom of a bird cage."

Aspercreme Maximum Strength Lidocaine Patch (lidocaine) "Can't tell if this works or not, won't stay on long enough to get an idea. Every time I move it balls up. Only put it on 40 mins ago and I'm sitting here literally holding it in place (gave up on taping it, that didn't help either). Total waste of money."

"My 88-year-old mother uses lidocaine 5% patches for her sciatica pain. The patches by Mylan are useless. As others have stated, they are plastic and do not stay in place. They bunch up and fall off with one to two hours of applying. She used to get another brand which was flexible and stayed in place. Insurance covers most of the cost of these patches, but I would not recommend them even if Mylan paid you to use them."

"The Mylar patches are HORRIBLE!!! They don't stick and thus they don't relieve the pain. New insurance forced me to switch to the Mylar brand. . I will switch back to Actavis brand. They work perfectly. But the insurance coverage is not as good"

Lidoderm (lidocaine) "Lidocaine 5% patch...What a waste of time and money. Product did NOT relieve my bursitis pain. The "metallic" taste went away after a couple of weeks. The blurred vision, sensitive eyesight to sun and complicated way of using this product I could have dealt with if only it had worked. Do not waste your money and time"

"I purchased a box of Odor Free Aspercreme Lidocaine Patch (5 count) from seeing advertisement on tv..The box cost me almost $15.00. I was very excited to try these patches. The first patch stayed adhered in place for all of 3 hours, the second patch stayed in place for 2 hours. I have just applied the 3rd patch and am praying it will stay on long enough to relieve the pain in my neck/shoulder. I have applied duct tape over it to try and make the patch stay put!!! I cleaned patch area with soap/water and dried throughly then waited 30 minutes for area to air dry before applying patch. The package says its good for up to 12 hours...thats great if it would stay on. Does not stay on long enough for me to criteque its usefulness. Thank you"

"The Lidocaine patch by Mylan is a terrible product. It is stiff and difficult to apply. It does not stay in place. The lidocaine patch by Watson is wonderful. It is soft, pliable, easy to apply, and it feels soothing."

"I had tried patches before and nothing stays on but about 4 yrs ago I tried SalonPas which were ridiculously inexpensive so my expectations were extremely low and they stayed on UNTIL I TOOK IT OFF BY CHOICE OVER 6 HOURS LATER but they they contained no lidocaine ...within last month I heard they came out with lidocaine patches and rushed to get them ..only $8.00 for box of 5 or 6 and so happy I did they have come through again with low cost effective (more so than name brand) pain relieving product.."

"This patch is a piece of junk it does not adhere to the skin, I clean my skin with alcohol so there is no skin oil before I use this but it just does not stay they fell off. Is this made of composite plastic material? Take this off the shelves, a ripoff for the consumer and the VA Pharmacy...please remove this junk. Effectiveness its not 1, its big "0""

Lidocaine Viscous (lidocaine) "I was prescribed lidoderm but the pharmacist switched the prescription to lidocaine 5% patch. This was TERRIBLE !!! The patch dried off and fell off in about 2 hours. The adhesive was pathetically weak and didn't hold the patch in place not even long enough to do any good. I know as a former drug salesman for Upjohn this kind of shoddy imitation would never have been tolerated. Why don't you try quality and I would assume they are made in some third world country. Terrible is the only term I can use to describe this copy cat medication."

"Junk !! Sticks to itself, slightly takes away pain! More of a mess than other lidoderm or lidocaine patches! Mess trying to remove backing, it sticks to itself, rolls up & doesn't stick well after the goop is absorbed! Junk junk junk!"

"I had to use some Watson lidocaine patch's one time because my other brand was not in stock at this particular store. Although they did work they fall off in 5 minutes. I wonder if it is the difference in skin texture or something defective with my patches in this box. One user said they stick. Did I get a bad box?"

"I sprained my back in a hit-and-run car accident. Pain medications took the edge off, but I was still in a lot of pain. Lidocaine patches gave me the first relief I have had in a week. The only side effect I have experienced thus far is a headache. This is my first time trying Lidocaine patches, so I am unsure if more side effects will appear."

Aspercreme Maximum Strength Lidocaine Patch (lidocaine) "Put patch on for night time relief. Woke next morning with blisters and welts in the area. I now know the extent of the medication - the blisters and red marks - like a second degree burn spread throughout an area 2 - 3 times the size of the patch. Sitting, leaning back has been difficult. Wearing clothing has been difficult. Laying in bed has been painful. The Doc has given me an ointment for my skin and meds for the pain. The blisters have drained today. The burnt skin is still there. This was the FIRST time I used this product."

Lidocaine Viscous (lidocaine) "This only works for your tooth pain for an hour, before that , the sharp pain feeling starts subtly creeping back. Not only that, it's so thick that even if you spit out as much as possible, you could be at risk for choking. I wish providers would prescribe actual pain relievers for tooth pain, instead of this sham."

"I have used Lidocaine 5% patches for pain with great effect until my pharmacy switched to a generic version manufactured by Actavis [Teva]. My original patches were thick with a nice firm gel, easy to use, and stayed on well. Actavis brand patches are flimsy, easily fold back on themselves when removing the backing, and do not stick for 12 hours, sometimes they fall off after 6 hrs and seldom stay on for 8 hours. They also have a very loose, sticky gel that leaks out of the sides of the patch and gets all over the skin, hands, clothing, and bedding. Actavis patches are a very poor brand that is not inexpensive but very obviously cheaply made. I'm afraid I'm stuck with their mess/lack of sticking unless I can find a way to not be forced to use their inferior generic version. I do not recommend Actavis patches unless you have no other option."

Lidocaine Viscous (lidocaine) "I was prescribed this for reflux pain. I had such bad pain tonight. I almost couldn’t mix it. I tried to mix it with liquid antacid and could barely do it. After taking it the pain was gone in just a couple minutes. My mouth was numb but it was worth it to have the pain gone."

"I was prescribed these patches for pain in my knee due to chondomalacia and a dislocated knee cap. They really don't stick to my skin (even after washing the area and drying well) Also they're hard to put on the knee cap where my pain is, they just ball up and fall off after 30mins. I've found cutting the patch in half and surrounding the knee works. It helps with pain but nowhere close to being a 10/10 in my book let alone a 6/10."

Lidocaine Viscous (lidocaine) "It didn’t help at all. Was told that it would help numb me enough to where I could eat a decent meal as I hadn’t been able to eat or drink for 4 days straight due to a really bad case of strep and I was hoping for some relief took it and nothing happened. I started with a teaspoon. When that didn’t work I tried 2 teaspoons to see if that worked but it didn’t. Very disappointing and felt like my doctor gave me false hope."

"Lidocaine and steroids used for shoulder pain. After 45 minutes I reacted in the same way as my nut allergy. Took 20mg antihistamine as advised By GP. Started to get worse. Rushed to surgery where GP waiting for me, started to speak and collapsed. Thought I was dying. My lovely Dr (retired now) used the Epipen. Two ambulances arrived. Admitted to A and E with anaphylactic episode. Still uncertain whether it was the LA or the steroids. My GP felt it could well have been the LA. Am on the alert now for ANY LA! On a positive note, my shoulder pain just a memory."

"For pain relief I give lidocaine patch a 10. Relief from pain in two minutes! I have pain from cervical and lumbar spine injuries Actavis Lidocaine patch 5%. Extremely aggravating and stressful to stay attached to skin. I finally bought Athletic sweat tape. I got it at Walgreens. The pharmacist told me it was the same kind of tape that football players use to tape their fingers when preparing for a game. I put the patch on my back, then cut a 10” strip of tape, then while watching from behind in a mirror put the first piece of tape across the top of the patch, a second piece of tape across the middle and a third piece of tape across the bottom. It will hold most of the day but can begin to curl because of movement and clothing. Anyway, when I’m finished with this prescription, my pain management doctor recommended I go to one of the dollar stores. They have over-the-counter patches of lidocaine that works great. They are Inexpensive, I won't need a prescription and they won’t irritate the skin or have a sticking problem."
