Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I have just started back on Luvox after 14 months of being off it. I was on Luvox for 9 years prior to this and felt good enough to slowly take myself off the drug. OCD anxiety issues have returned. I forgot how bad the symptoms made me feel, it’s great to read other people’s comments on their own experiences. I didn’t realise how effective Luvox was until the last few months, the anxiety, unwanted thoughts and my mind constantly running away like a freight train. Only 3rd day back on Luvox and feel a lot better. Having a few head spins throughout the day but slowly adjusting to the medication."

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I finally got the courage to talk to my GP about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and all the other issues it was creating. I was first OCD when 14 (Now 33) I was given some samples of Aropax back then and it seemed to eliminate the symptoms immediately, but over time and no planning for continued dosage, my condition worsened and led me to Luvox. I was really down and out. The Luvox initially made me very tired. Dimished Sex Drive and loss of appetite. The enhanced depression was getting to me. The initial 50mg dose was increased (I'm 6'5 115kgs) to 100mg. After 4-5 weeks this started getting better. The sleepiness became the opposite (hard to sleep). Take them at the same time every day and keep a journal of your improvement."

For Anxiety and Stress "It's been about a month. And I really see a change. I use to be an emotional girl with obsessive thoughts that ran my mind all day long. Now.. I go to work, I work (usually would think about my worries at work while being stressed at work as it already is). I handle complex situations with more confidence and less anxiety. I'm on 100 mg, can't wait to try 150, think that will be perfect. No major side effects at all. Really believe this helps give me that push at living my life in the now and helps stop the ruminating. I've tried other stuff and nothing compares. With Luvox... I stress less, cry less, and focus more on what's important. Can't wait to continue and see more improvement ...."

For Anxiety and Stress "I started taking this about 7 weeks ago and it’s really really been helping me. I used to have to step on my shoes before putting them on, check everything a million times before closing at work, and feel anxious literally every time I left the house or did anything even mildly stressful. But now it’s like I can actually feel anxious without it overtaking my entire life. I still feel anxious but it’s something I can handle now, it’s no longer this overwhelming thing to be terrified of. The scary thoughts pop into my head and then they just go. I no longer obsess over distressing feelings, I’m able to let negative feelings come and go. I also haven’t experienced dissociation since I started taking this which is nice. The only downside is I’m really really tired. I can sleep for a long time and still feel exhausted. Living with manageable anxiety is worth it for me. But overall this medicine has really helped me and I’m so glad I started taking it."

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "To be clear, I am on luvox for its entire spectrum of effect-- OCD, anxiety and stress, and major depressive disorder. I have been on almost every single drug on the market, and Luvox is consistently the only one that has ever worked. The luvox/latuda (atypical antipsychotic) combination worked wonders for me in the past, and though I am only on luvox now, it has definitely helped with curbing recurrent, insistent thoughts of hopelessness and despair. It has blunted my anxiety, and after years of depression, I am starting to feel a little better. Just tired as all get out, though!"

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Anxiety and Stress "Luvox did help with my depression and anxiety symptoms but it had an extreme sedative effect on me. Unfortunately my doctor did not realize my extreme fatigue was caused by this medicine and I spent money on sleep studies, blood tests and various medications trying to figure out why I was so tired. I could get through my work day but I would crash. I was sleeping 4 hours after work, getting up to make dinner and then returning to bed. I was so frustrated, feeling like I was missing out on life. I wasn't depressed because of chemical imbalance, but because I felt like I didn't have a life. I saw a different doctor and as soon as he took me off Luvox, my energy returned. Definitely not the right medicine for me."

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "It works. I want to say, please keep taking your pills even if you feel better. I did this mistake after taking it for two years so I am trying to cure myself again. After a month back on them I feel better but still need time. Without medicine my brain is a monster, but this medicine cured my brain mostly."

For Depression "This medicine fluvoxamine has its pros and cons. I have spent 3 years on this medication. Started on 25mg and slowly increased to 200mg. I felt like I had lost all emotion on this dose. I couldn’t feel anything. I stood at my grandmothers funeral and didn’t even shed a single tear. I just couldn’t feel anything. I decreased my dose to 100mg and it has completely stopped all suicidal thoughts and anxiety and mostly all of my depression but I cannot do my job consistently due to feeling extremely tired, weak and lethargic. I cannot focus nor concentrate and I find it hard to stay consistent and interested in hobbies. I have an “I don’t care” attitude a lot of the time when it comes to my job especially and hobbies. I find it hard to function this way. I feel like I have trouble remembering anything and my brain is not working as well as it used to. I could sleep 23 hours a day. I feel unmotivated and disinterested in a lot of things. Neither situations are ideal"

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I had a great experience with Luvox, personally. I had very few side effects aside from being quite tired in the first few months (I was on a 300mg dose w/2mg risperidone). A big factor for me was that I hadn’t had OCD symptoms very long when I went on the medication and I did a LOT of CBT therapy - So when I came off the medication I had the tools to help myself. I was on Luvox for 3 years while doing the intensive therapy for my incredibly severe symptoms. I’m now off the medication and have (touch wood!) not had an OCD symptom in over a year. If I do relapse though, I will go straight back to Luvox."

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Anxiety and Stress "Horrible experience! I switch from Paxil to Luvox and it was a terrible experience. I had a panic attack an hour after taking this medication. I felt like I couldn’t breathe and had tingling in my arms and legs. I called my doctor the next day and she switched me to Lexapro. I feel much better and have no side effects at all."

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I have obsessive compulsive disorder and social anxiety and I have taken Luvox for two years. I have been on 100 mg for a year and I think that the pills do work for anxiety and OCD and my social anxiety is almost gone. The problem is that Luvox makes me gain a little bit of weight and it’s really hard to lose weight. I have reduced my calorie intake and I’m going to the gym but still I can’t lose any weight and I have tried now for two months. Luvox is really stopping me from losing weight. My depression hasn’t got any better it’s still the same."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I have to credit this medication with saving my life. Over the past 13 years, I’ve been on over 30 different medications. Every SSRI, SNRI, ketamine, even the antipsychotics. When those failed, I had ECT. My OCD was so severe that I was hospitalized twice for suicidal ideation. I was unable to work, unable to finish my degree because I couldn’t stop obsessing. I was miserable. Now I’ve been on Luvox for 2 years. I’ve gotten married. I have a job and a house. Things that I never thought it would be able to have. Yes, life is still a daily challenge, but it’s not unbearable. Luvox is the only drug that has calmed my OCD. 150mg. The only side effects are nausea and complete loss of libido. Small prices to pay sanity."

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "This medicine has been extremely effective for me. After the 1st dose I could feel a difference. It has also helped with anxiety and depression. There are a few side effects such as night sweats, nausea, vivid dreams. Hopefully they will decrease with time, this is only my 3rd week on it."

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "This medication has helped me tremendously. I'm not sure how I lived without it. It took about a week of me taking the medication for my symptoms of OCD to improve, and ever since I have felt 99%. Once every few months I have my 'alright days', but then again, I do have my consecutive couple days that I forget to take them before I fall asleep.... :S :)"

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I developed permanent chronic fatigue/hypersomnia that I did not have before taking SSRIs. It started with Luvox and then Prozac, and even after being off them for 3 years, I still have the same fatigue issues. I was not warned that side effects from these meds can be permanent and detrimental, literally ruining your life even more than the original issue did (depression or anxiety). My heart goes out to the people suffering. I can never recommend a med that ruined my life; I think all SSRIs/SNRIs are horrible and ineffective long-term. While on Luvox, I was a zombie with no desire to live, other than to sleep for 17 hours of the day and lay in bed the rest of the day. Now, three years off, I am not that bad, but I am still suffering and feel like I am lugging around 200 lb weights and need to sleep constantly. Imagine how depressed I am now. Figures that the only thing that helped my severe OCD was ERP therapy anyway!"

Luvox CR (fluvoxamine) for Anxiety and Stress "Had a pretty positive experience on this med. Took about a month to really kick in, OCD intrusive thoughts lessened; while I continue to deal with anxiety, it’s been better overall on Luvox. Currently on 100mg."

For Anxiety and Stress "When I found out I had severe OCD and anxiety, I was prescribed this med. I was so scared to take it at first because literally I thought I would die. Then my anxiety got so bad that I eventually promised myself I would take it for 1 month, push through the side effects, and if I didn't feel better, I would quit. I've been taking it now for 8 months and I can honestly tell you this was the best decision of my life. I feel like a real person... thoughts come and then leave. I don't get caught up on them like I used to. The only reason I'm giving it a 9 and not a 10 is for side effects in the beginning. But, the negative responses I see from everyone else seems like choices that they chose. This isn't a fix your life pill, but it helps."

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Luvox is fantastic - My Dr put me on it first up, I didn't try any other medicines, and I've been on it for over a year now, and have happily lived almost symptom free. The only thing is when I miss it one or two nights I become a bit of a mess, crying and feeling anxious. Also, I'm starting to feel a bit of depression which is odd for me, but I think it will just be a matter of lowering the dose - It was so bad I was on 300mg and 2mg of Risperidone, but now down to 300mg Luvox only, but perhaps should try going down to 200mg to see if the motivation comes back."

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I have used Luvox for over a year now. Before I was taking Effexor and it made me angry, so I had to switch. I started at 100mg then gradually went to 200mg. At 200mg I found the most relief for my OCD but I didn't want to do anything. I had no motivation to clean my house, do the laundry, even take a shower. I just didn't care. As a mother of 4 that was a huge problem. I gradually decreased my dosage back down to 100mg and have motivation back. I still have the rituals and things that completely drive me up the wall and did have those still at 200mg. I'm thinking about trying a new medication because this one works for a bit, but doesn't give me the relief I need. I have to take Klonopin to calm my brain down at night where I can sleep."

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "The day that I'm writing this review, I was switched to Prozac by my doctor. Luvox for around 8 months worked wonders for my OCD. I was basically symptom free during that time with very little anxiety and worry. After the 8-month mark, it slowly started losing its effectiveness. My doctor bumped it from 150mg to 200mg, but that made everything worse. I wasn't falling asleep until 7am, I had no energy during the day, and my OCD symptoms were basically completely back. I was also on Zoloft for around a year, and the same thing happened there. Everybody is different, though. If you have OCD and haven't tried Luvox, give it a try. When everything was going well, I still experienced sexual side effects like low libido and delayed ejaculation."

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I was put on Luvox at 8. I don't recall if it helped with OCD. The whole time I was on the drug I experienced bad side effects. I was constantly drowsy and unable to function or process information at a normal capacity; as a child and teenager, it was a hindrance to my ability to socialize. I missed out on a lot of my education as a result and am still making up for it (at 30). I was constantly depressed and often suicidal. The drug suppressed my sex drive, which never developed naturally (as a teenager, it was confusing). I got off the drug easily when I was 19. I was instantly more awake, animated, and no longer depressed or suicidal. I have migraines and it's been suggested that my long dependency on Luvox might be a cause. I would not recommend this drug. It did nothing helpful for me and has been a huge hindrance in my life. I would strongly caution any parent who is considering this drug for a child; any help it provides is not worth the side effects and long-term damage."

Luvox (fluvoxamine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I’ve been taking Luvox for close to 15 years. I started on 50mg and moved to 100mg after about 3 years. I am now on 200mg (recently increased from 150mg). I take 100mg in the AM and 100mg before bed. It’s stopped me from experiencing distressing intrusive thoughts completely and helped reduce my anxiety to a manageable level. I also take seroquel and concerta on work days."
