Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for Asthma "For me the medication doesn't last me the whole day so having it once a day is not great. The biggest negative side effect for me, to the point I'm now seeking a different asthma med, is that no matter how much I rinse my mouth or gargle or salt water rinse and gargle, I'm left with a build up of white and thick and pasty residue on the back of my throat where it feels like I constantly have hair sitting in the back of my mouth like a big fur ball....its not thrush as I have been back to my GP..horrible."

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for COPD "I have been taking Breo for approx 3 weeks, previously using Atrovent. I have severe COPD. Aged 67. The first day or two it felt excellent was able to breathe easier, but then the side effects started. Tolerated the headaches, bone aches, red eyes, slightly blurred vision sometimes, confusion to start with, severe sinus (was regularly blowing blood from nose), feeling lethargic and depressed, getting cold sweats at night, thirsty, ringing ears, runny nose, but when my face started to swell up that scared me so stopped use, all adverse reactions now stopped after 36 hours. It is great for helping with the breathing, unfortunately side affects are too much. Funny thing breathing has continued to be good after stopped taking"

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for Asthma "Works great IF you can actually get it into your lungs, but the delivery system is garbage, most of it was in my throat. Yes I followed the instructions to the letter. Caused some headaches and fast heart rate for a short time. It should come in a puffer and nebulizer form."

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for COPD "I have been on prednisone 21 years non stop for a still unknown lung condition. I have tried so many different meds, specialists, treatments, etc. No matter what I still coughed, wheezed, couldn't breathe. The best combo so far was 20-30mg prednisone daily and Advair 500/50. I have not been able to get off prednisone for 21 years. If I tried, I ended up in the hospital within 48hrs. My insurance quit covering Advair, so my dr prescribed Breo. I am now on day 7 of NO PREDNISONE! Seven days! I am ecstatic! 21 years of prednisone has wrecked havoc on my body, but I havent taken it in 7 days! And I even took my dog for a walk yesterday! I dont know how its working when nothing else has, but it is!"

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for Asthma "COPD,ASTHMA. Use of Breo 1x, I ended up in ER. Breo opened airways well, but hours after 1st use is when my 3 hr long ordeal began. With no warning I began shaking, having SOB, chest pain, sweating, headache, my blood pressure jumped to 200/120. I literally felt like I was dying. It was like I drank 5 pots of caffeine that all kicked in at once. My heart was pounding, racing & it was hard to breath. Took nitro before going to ER which lowered the high blood pressure some, but didn't stop the rest. ER tests negative for it being a heart attack, major respiratory prob., a stroke, a nervous breakdown, impeding death-(lol which I swear is what it literally felt like at the time), or anything other than a very bad reaction to Breo. Back home had muscle spasms in my legs. Feel horrible still today, totally drained of energy, hurt all over from traumatic experience my body went through last night, but I'm still much better than I was last night. I won't take Breo again, EVER."

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for COPD "I have tried most all maintance inhalers due to the fact I was using my rescue inhaler way to much throughout the day. After many failed attempts at all the others I was given a sample of breo, not expecting much of a differance, boy was I wrong. I could tell on the 2nd day it was working! I breath soooo much better and can go without my resue ventalin. HUGE difference!"

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for Asthma "Breo stopped my asthma. But... I was never able to clear my throat ( yes I rinsed and gargled). For two weeks I had a horrible pain in my neck that made my head feel too heavy for my neck, don't know if it was coincidence or not but the only thing that fixed the pain in my neck was going off Breo."

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for Asthma "I was changed to Breo almost 3 months ago, after being on Advair 100/50 for 14 years. My Dr changed it, because he felt that Breo would be less steroid in my body. Well, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." My breathing got worse, and it is a struggle to take a deep breath. I had to use my rescue inhaler 2-3 times a day, this past month, when with Advair, I'd only use it 1-2 times ayear. I constantly felt like someone was choking me, or that my lungs wouldn't inflate fully, & I'd have heart palpitations when I'd lay down, & would wake me from sleep. A recent CT scan showed bibasilar atelectasis, whereas another done prior to Breo this year, didn't show that finding. I started back on my Advair today. I hope it still works for me now."

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for COPD "I was excitied to try the Breo Ellipta.. I have severe emphysema & 73 years old.. At first I found that I could breathe longer during the day without using my rescue Proair so much during the day... After 6 days, I found that when excerting myself for a longer period of time, ( grocery shopping) that I would run out of air...My chest felt tight & my Proair didn't seem to rescue me as before...It was a little frightening..."

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for Asthma, Maintenance "Breo 200/25 worked great for about 6 months. Never used my rescue inhaler. Now I have a chronic sore throat and raspy voice, chest pain, muscle spasms in both hands, fatigue, and insomia. I can still breathe deeply but the side effects are getting worse the longer I continue to use Breo. I plan to return to using Symbicort, the only side effect from that was raspy voice. I was put Spiriva Respimate also last month, but the combination of Spiriva and Breo caused me to totally lose my voice. I had to quit the Spiriva, voice loss and terrible heartburn/stomach pain."

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for Asthma, Maintenance "I have had adult onset asthma for approx 30 years. Many hospitalizations. After having pneumonia three times early last year, my pulmonologist asked if I had been using my Breo. No, I hadn’t because of excessive price. After using it religiously, I did not have an attack for seven months! After being diagnosed with an eye condition AND SEVERE PAIN in all four extremities, mainly at night, I have had to discontinue. My doctor did extensive blood work to make sure no red flags for cancer. Thank goodness no cancer. But now what do I do. I have other lesser side effects. Breo was good for asthma but terrible for my health! Will this excruciating pain eventually go away?"

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for COPD "I have struggled with asthma my whole life. I used my inhaler on average 10 times a day. I started Breo it started working right away. By day 3 I noticed that I hadn't used my inhaler all day. Using Breo has given me tremendous relief! I love it and it has seriously given me a better quality of life."

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for COPD "At the end of my first month. Thank god for this med!! Breo has been great! Haven't used my nebulizer and rescue inhaler has only been used 2 or 3 times. I am so grateful for the 12 month free prescription as well..no insurance to cover it and I was very very ill. My wheezing is gone and I'm not coughing! It's a miracle :)"

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for Asthma "My pulmonologist said I should try Breo rather than using a rescue and steroid inhaler. The first day I felt great but after 8 hrs went into shock and got a ride to the ER. I thought I would try it again to make sure it was the drug and sure enough it happened again. After stopping Breo after two times it caused severe problems that continued for a week but seem to be resolving"

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for COPD, Maintenance "Breo definitely helped with breathing but the side effects are not good for me. On Breo for 3 months and found I gained 20 pounds, was always hungry, excessive phlegm, continually tired, leg cramps in the morning, extreme uncomfortable bloating to the point I thought I would bust. So no....it doesn’t work for me."

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for COPD "I've only been using it for two weeks. Other than a scratchy throat (which I recently learned to gargle with water after use), I feel INCREDIBLY better. I'm 60 and was diagnosed with emphysema about 1 year ago. I'm a desk jockey but a "weekend warrior" in the back forty. I haven't felt this good in quite some time. Fingers crossed..."

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for COPD "Cough became better 1st week, by 2nd week it worsened, muscles ached the 1st week & continued to throughout use, as well as in the AM my joints were very stiff! By the 3rd week I had a continuous sore throat & couldn't wear my rings and my shoes were cutting into my feet and were red! My eyes began to burn & my nose swelled, turning bright red, like a triangle, the redness faded after 24 hrs! My family complained that I was miserable & I felt angry daily by the 3rd week and my eczema flared up and I developed intense scalp itching. When I experienced stomach cramps on & off over 3 weeks and was constantly hungry I knew this wasn't a coincidence! I have asthma, COPD, & Bronchitis"

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for COPD, Maintenance "I have chronic asthma I have been on Breo for 3 months. I am able to breathe . Not used any ventolin at all. At first I had dizzy spells a couple of times which lasted for a few hours. I was full of energy and so happy that I am able to do my house chores without any issues. After a while I noticed my scalp itchy and dry. My muscles started to ache, my joints specially. I started to gain weight, hungry all the time. I was becoming tired unable to concentrate. My face bloated, I was retaining fluid, which I noticed when I took off my socks. Had to buy some new shoes and to my amazement I had to buy a size bigger. What do you do , put up with side effects to breathe ?"

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for COPD "I was put on Breo and was amazed on how well I felt but it didn't last long. My symptoms were getting worse and it wasn't until I had wisdom teeth pulled that I realized that Breo was making me worse. After having my wisdom teeth pulled out I was scared to use my inhaler. I was told no straws because the sucking in cold pull stitches out so the day after I didn't use Breo the next day I couldn't belive how well I could breath and each day was even better. I was using my rescue inhaler once every 4/5 hours and I felt good so even though at first Breo seemed good over time it didn't agree with me. I'm seeing my respitalogist next week to see what's next for me as the rescue inhaler is not enough."

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for Asthma, Maintenance "PRO: Before I began taking this medication almost three years ago, I went through two rescue inhalers a month. Now I don't use them at all and instead of struggling to find a way to get a refill, I have so many I'm afraid they will expire before I can use them. CON: I have to clear my throat a lot and there is more drainage and sputum than before but it's a very small price to pay for being able to breathe. Also it is NOT covered by insurance so I have to pray yearly I find the discount coupon online to cover the expense. It is about $450 without the coupon. Insurance needs to get on board."

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone / vilanterol) for Asthma "I started on the breo ellipta in April 2019. It was amazing, for the first time in 23 years I could breathe properly. Take bigger breathes in general and my asthma was gone. However, the side effects were huge. It gave me insomnia and so it changed my sleeping pattern (I usually go to bed at 8pm and wake at 5am), I have been constantly sick since May this year (I’m not kidding), I gained a hell of a lot of weight, my skin changed from super oily skin to completely dried out, I had a constant cough, my sinuses (which have never been an issue prior) were playing up constantly, mentally I did not feel like myself at all. My mum however hasn’t had as many side effects. It is such a shame that we have to choose between dealing with the above or not being able to breathe. It took me a long time to finally get off it but after speaking to my specialists and my mum it was clear it didn’t sit well with my body. Back to the strongest dosage of seretide which doesn’t work"
