Diflucan (fluconazole) "I had what felt like a moderate yeast infection. I was given Terazole 3 at first but had the most horrible allergic reaction that made my yeast infection symptoms increase 100x. I have never felt misery like that in my LIFE, it felt like my insides and outsides were trying to kill me. I was switched to the single dose of 150mg Diflucan and my symptoms improved by half within 24 hours and only got better from there. It took about a week for all discomfort (including the occasional minor itch) to completely disappear."

"Took the pill Tuesday night, felt somewhat relieved on Wednesday night but slight irritation and itch but no more discharge. I recommend you try to keep the area clean and dry. It really helps always towel dry after every shower with separate clean towel."

Diflucan (fluconazole) "Awesome medication. I got a really bad yeast infection that kept coming back after two Z-packs. I took three, three days apart and it completely got rid of it. The inflammation lingered for a bit because the tissue was damaged, which is apparently normal according to WebMD and my doctor. Once I got an upset stomach from taking it, but that could have easily been avoided if I ate something with it."

"I never had so many yeast infections as I have had in the past year. Was on long course of antibiotics. Just a warning in December thought I had yeast infection and it was terrible. By the time I got to doctor it was actually bacterial vaginosis. Had to take Flagyl. If you have an unusually severe yeast infection, get checked. However anytime I did use fluconazole it works great."

"I got a yeast infection for the first time. Holy moly those things are horrible. Be patient. It works differently for everyone. I did see relief the first day. And more relief everyday. I felt normal after a week. I would take this again if I had to. No side effects for me."

Diflucan (fluconazole) "This is my second time taking Diflucan. I had an allergic reaction to medication. My reaction was not listed as their side effects. I instantly started having stinging in my lips. Later that day my lips were swollen. My tonsils started to get sore. My vagina is swollen, extreme itching, and painful. It made me develop hemorrhoids. It has been two days and my symptoms are worse. I am athletic and drink a lot of water. I should’ve never developed hemorrhoids. The itching is unbearable. I am now using otc creams for the discomfort. I’ve had STD testing for HIV, Gonorrhea, Chylmidia, RPR, and HSV. Everything was negative. Be cautious of this medication."

"I've had the yeast infection from hell. Finally went to the dr and got Diflucan. I am on my 2nd pill with a 7 day regimen. Almost no itching and starting to feel so much better! Also a little tip; orajel has worked MUCH better for the itching and pain than anything meant for the vag. My dr recommended this. Who knew? :)"

"The BEST treatment for simple yeast infection. One pill, and symptoms are gone in 2 days or less. I have never experienced any side effects at all from this medication, and I am so thankful there is such a simple solution for clearing up a yeast infection. The creams they sell at drug stores don’t seem to do a lot for me and they are messy and expensive."

"First time with a yeast infection .Took my first dose of fluconazole on day one with minimal results and second dose of 150 mg 48 hours latter and at day 5 I am feeling things are almost back to normal . Reading the other posts from ladies continually having repeat episodes of this I feel for you . Have any of your partners been treated or assessed for a yeast infection ?As you are back to normal he or she may have been infected by you especially if you do not use protection when you are infected and have sex .You could have picked it up from them if they don’t know they have one ? You may be swapping it back and forth between each other if you are both not treated . Go to your health care providers and your partner and discuss this and perhaps your partner needs to be treated too !!"

Diflucan (fluconazole) "Whenever I have a urinary tract infection, a yeast infection is sure to follow and this time, instead of buying the 3 day treatment of Canesten that you insert inside (which has always worked well the first day), I tried the one pill. No side effects. However I my vagina is still itchy, burning and rubbing it no longer provides any relief anymore. Going back to the doctor, hoping for something stronger."

Diflucan (fluconazole) "I am prone to yeast infections. Not super prone. But I usually get about 3 yeast infections a year, more if I have infections that require antibiotics. Rarely does over the counter medication work for me, plus I just hate how gross, messy, and how long it takes to clear up with the over the counter suppositories. This medication Diflucan is really a god send because the minute I feel it coming on I take it and symptoms are gone super quickly and with NO MESS. I honestly don't notice any side effects. I might get an upset stomach but I usually get that from the antibiotics that give me the yeast infection to begin with."

Diflucan (fluconazole) "I had to have oral surgery, and took amoxicillin for two weeks. The dentist prescribed fluconazole, I got the generic. I've used Diflucan in the past with great success. It seems that the generic does NOT work as well as the name brand. Three days/three pills later, I'm still suffering with the yeast infection symptoms."

"I started showing symptoms of a yeast infection after being on antibiotics for about 5 days, which is a common side effect. My doctor prescribed this pill. I took it and I had almost complete relief the next night. I took it Wednesday evening around 4 and by Thursday night I felt a lot of improvement. It is now Sunday & I feel 100% back to normal and I'm still on my antibiotics. This pill stays in your system for several days which is why it is so effective. I highly recommend this. I will never use OTC Medicines again."

Diflucan (fluconazole) "I originally had a UTI and was prescribed antibiotics for 5 days. About two days later I started itching and the doctor prescribed me this drug. I kid you not I was sooooooooo dizzy I thought I was going to fall over. It didn't matter if I was standing up or sitting down. The dizziness was freaking horrible. Oh, I only had one dose of it and I'm still itching like crazy"

"After taking fluconazole for 4 months at varied strengths it was apparent it wasn’t working, the side effects are horrid and found even at 50mg I was still feeling extremely queasy on them. Also note they do contain lactose which can upset your digestive system if sensitive. Anyway after many trips to GP, gyne, gum clinic it was then decided to check the strain of yeast I had - turns out I don’t have the normal albicans but instead glabrata which is highly resistant to azole medications. So for anyone taking fluconazole and it’s not working det them to check the strain you have as maybe it’s just a resistant strain , 10 months on and only just able to get the medication needed to beat this beast ... nystatin ."

"I had got a yeast infection from eating too many sweets in one week. I had like a pie and a cheesecake everyday. I tried plain yogurt, garlic, and monistat and it appeared that everything had cleared up. But having unprotected intercourse with my fiancé, I gave him a yeast infection, finally went to the clinic and it went from a severe to minor yeast infection, I paid 80 for this pill, it worked wonderful. the drug stayed in my system for 7 days clearing up my yeast infection. Now that I know they have it at Walmart I'll get a prescription and buy it from there."

Diflucan (fluconazole) "After taking antibiotics I usually get a yeast infection so I take diflucan once when meds are gone. Almost always stops itching in 24 hours and disappears completely by day 2. Only once was it so bad I had to take it twice. Best cure ever. And no side effects. Used it many times."

Diflucan (fluconazole) "I have been prescribed Diflucan in the past for yeast infections and it worked wonderful. Overnight relief. I have been prescribed this generic form the last few times I've had a yeast infection and find that it does not work nearly as well for me. Currently in day 5 after taking single dose and I am still having itching and redness. "

"This is my second yeast infection due to taking antibiotics. Fluconazole is really good. It's only been like 16 hours but I feel so much more relief already. Also drink tons of water and have yogurt, it also helps!"

"I get yeast infections when i drink alot of wine. It usually works with a mild infection if you take it upon first notice within 48 to 72 hours. But I feel relief in the first 24 hours. I also use baby diaper rash cream to relieve itching. This works like a dream. Desitin is the best. Just the regular strengt. Immediate relief! The pill does the rest. If you let it get too severe take 2 pills 2 to 5 days apart. That works in 3 to 5 days. Abstain from Alcohol and food high in sugar such as soda and sweets. If the Diflucan doesn't offer relief in 2 to 3 days you might have Vaginatis a bacterial infection which sometime seems like a yeast infection and requires a different medication. Call you doctor."

"So I had a pretty bad yeast infection. I was itchy and my lady bits were bright red. I mean, it REALLY itchy and had pain. Only time I couldn't feel the symptoms was if I was laying in bed. I took fluconazole on a Saturday afternoon. Upon waking next morning, my symptoms seemed to be cut in half, still irritated though, itchy, and uncomfortable. Each day after, symptoms seem to be cut in half again. Tuesday I was feeling much better and it is now Wednesday and I feel great. This definitely worked for me. So glad I didn't have to take Monistat since that burns my insides! Those who are experiencing side effects, I can only guess with fluconazaole you do not actually have a yeast infection and the pill is trying to fight something that isn't there. Probably a different issue, maybe bacterial? This pill definitely worked for me and I am HAPPY and back to feeling like my normal self again."

"I'm not entirely sure why I am having such a hard time clearing up my yeast infection this time. This is now my 4th pill (after taking 3 of the 150 mg over the course of 3 weeks). I typically don't suffer with burning, itching, rashes...but the cottage cheese discharge is terrible. I took my 4th dose last night, it was 100 mg, and was expecting to not have any discharge this morning. Welp...still see it. It's not as much, but mid-day, wiped...still cottage cheese discharge. I am comforted by the ladies here saying it does take a few days. Just wondering why I've had to take so many this time and still not cured."

"For years I was prescribed Diflucan for frequent recurring yeast infections, it did relieve my symptoms, but the infection would come back. I started doing my own research and found that some woman are sensitive to soaps, body washes, shave creams, etc and that those can cause problems with your ph balance and cause some women to have frequent infections. I started using Vagisal ph Balance wash. This product has changed my life! In the last 5 years since using this product I have maybe had 3-4 starts to yeast infection and mostly caused by antibiotics. If I feel like I am starting to get a yeast infection (which is rare now) I start taking RepHresh Pro-B (probiotic feminine supplement) and that will help take care of the infection."

"I got this one oral pill 150 mg. prescribed by my OBGYN yesterday to treat my 1st time yeast infection. Dr. told me to wear 100% cotton underwear for 2 weeks. ALways drying the area well after shower with a clean dry towel, plus using hair dryer blew it dry (use regular air, not hot air). Then, applying baby diaper rash cream (like Desitin) all around that area on both side. Finally, taking a cup of yogurt everyday. I asked if I could take probiotic, she said it's fine. After taking the pill yesterday morning. Last night, I didn't wake up until 5:30 am. Late morning, there was still some itchiness, but not too severe. I hope it will get better tomorrow. So far, I haven't felt any side effects. Good luck, everyone!"
