"I tried Trinessa for a month and a half. It was the first birth control I had ever taken but it was the worst. My mood swings were off the charts. I don't think a day had gone by for me without crying and/or having intense mood swings. I have recently switched to Yaz and I love it. Yaz is a good switch from Trinessa if you're having problems. It's a lower dose of hormones with the same effectiveness. I can honestly say I feel like a better, happier person on Yaz. Plus I have PMDD. So it has helped out greatly for moodiness. My boyfriend and I can actually hang out without fighting for stupid reasons that were just plain ridiculous before."

"I started trinessa 5 months ago, for the second time. First when I was 20yrs old, it worked great. Now I'm 31, started again to prevent pregnancy and just feel pain on my breast, (around my nipples) also my sex live has decrease with my partner. My mood has also changed. I'm debating whether I should stop the pill or not."

"I've only been on this pill for 4 days, but so far so good. My face has been clearing up, I haven't noticed any weight gain and haven't noticed any major changes in my mood. Before trinessa I tried minastrin and it was the worst experience of my life. I had to stop after day 4 because I had HORRIBLE mood swings/depression/anxiety to the point where I almost went to the hospital. The only complaint I have so far is that my stomach has been super weird and my period was the worst it's ever been. I started it the 1st day of my period and it was super heavy and full of blood clots and I had cramps for 3 days. Hoping my stomach issues stop and my mood doesn't change. I will update in a month or so"

"I've been on Trinessa for years as the generic to OrthotriCyclin. It was free compared to the expensive version. I have not noticed issues with this pill at all, at least not that are very noticeable. I think the mood swings and emotional distress others are mentioning would happen with or without any BCP because of PMS. My skin breaks out only the week before my cycle starts, but nothing crazy. I don't have breast tenderness, cramps or discomfort either. The periods are light and painless as well. I do notice the bloat like clockwork a week prior to the period, but it is what it is. I have not gotten pregnant while on the pill though my guy and I are highly fertile, so it's obviously working. Overall I'm happy with it."

"I have been on Trinessa for the past 7 years. I initially started taking it so I could have a normal, predictable, period and to see if it would clear up my acne. It did help tremendously in both areas. Since I've used Trinessa, I've never had a pregnancy scare but I do take it religiously at the same time everyday. The only reason I'm switching off of Trinessa is because it hasn't helped with how heavy my periods are. Otherwise, I've obviously been pretty happy with it for the past 7 years and would recommend it!"

"I've been on TriNessa for the past 5 months and I've had nothing but horrible experiences. I started first pill with period and I was ok up until week 1. It was prom and I got extremely nauseous and threw up twice! I felt horrible (uncontrollable nausea, headaches, crazy mood changes, dry mouth) during the first month but I decided to stick with it since the side effects were "normal". Month 2-4 were better; barely any nausea, only slight mood changes, regular light period. Now on month 5, I'm noticing how much I have changed (because it's summer) and how different I've become. I've become depressed; even thinking about crying makes me cry!"

"This was the first birth control I was on. I was on it for 2 years. I didn't have any extremely terrible side effects and the birth control did what it's intended to do, PREVENT BABIES. I did experience increased discharge, extreme lack of sex drive, and extreme fatigue. It didn't make me nauseous or vomit. I recently switched to the Nexplanon and will never go back to the pill!"

"I was on the pill for about 8 months. The only side effect I experienced was a low sex drive. Other than that, the pill was effective! I had regular five day periods, no headaches, no nausea, no weight gain, and (thankfully) no mood swings. I am no longer on TriNessa because of the lack of libido (I was on it purely for contraceptive purposes). If it hadn't been for that I would still be on it!"

"I took this for about 5 months and didn't hate it until the last month or two, but by then I really, really hated it. My shin was pretty clear and my breasts grew two cup sizes, which was nice. However, they hurt constantly and were always sore. I always felt bloated and gained 5 pounds the first week, and another 8 pounds over the next couple months, The weight was IMPOSSIBLE to lose, and as someone who has struggled with eating disorders it was extremely disheartening. The worst part, however, was a complete and total loss of interest in sex. It was really damaging my relationship, to which sex has been a really huge part. The sex drive wasn't hugely affected until the end of my use of trinessa but it was a very intense drop off."

"I lost 5 pounds after a month of using Tri-Nessa. It was the 3rd or 4th birth control I tried, and the only one that keeps my period under control. With the other birth controls I tried, I had 2 periods per month! Not fun when you are a newlywed!! I have been taking Tri-nessa for 4 years and have not gotten pregnant. The only complaint I have is lower sex drive, but there are ways around that! ;-)"

"This birth control did it's job, that was the only good thing about it though. It gave me extreme nausea to the point where I didn't even want to see or smell food. It gave me terrible migraines a few hours after I took it every single day. It made my mouth dry and I couldn't self lubricate which was a bit annoying. I used to be very into sex, but once I was on it for a few weeks, my sex drive completely went away. My acne cleared up which was an extreme plus. I'd get 1-3 zits whenever I had my period. My period was always regular before I went on it then once I took the pills, I always got my period at the end of the pill cycle. It was an okay birth control, but I probably just reacted badly with it."

"TriNessa was the first birth control I had ever been on. I took it for almost a year and had to stop. I suffer from anxiety and depression. My periods were really awful before TriNessa and when I started taking it they were easy and manageable. My skin was glowing and clear. TriNessa made my anxiety and depression so much worse. I cried all the time I had panic attacks and mood swings multiple times a day. I also gained about 15 pounds. I have not tried birth control since, I am so scared that it will be anything similar to trinessa because it isn't worth it."

"I have been on Trinessa for 10 months. So far I have had breast tenderness, fatigue, weight gain, 104lb to 127lb (yes huge difference,) lower abdomen pain. Headaches, mood swings not so much but I do cry a lot and I mean a lot. The pill is doing its job although I've had one scare. My periods comes three days late and last about 3-6 hours, my period hasn't been longer than a day. And it's light very light like spotting. Trinessa is a good pill it has done its job but the sides effects are like symptoms of pregnancy. I could do without the side effects."

"I love Trinessa. I've been on it for about a year and a half now. Unlike other birth controls the most weight I gained since I started it is 2 pounds. I love it. Simple, easy to use, and effective. Give it a shot. Plus cleared up my acne!"

"I absolutely love trinessa!!!! I am a 25 year old woman with no kids with previous issues of no period/late period/long period/breakouts all the time & constant bloating almost all the time. Trinessa has cleared my bloating, my acne, and my periods!!!! I absolutely love it!!! But I do remember at first it was the hell, I would have headaches and I would feel like I need to throw up "

"This is hands down (for me) the best birth control I have ever been on. I have been on Ortho Cyclen for years and my current insurance doesn't cover it soooo my Dr switch me to TriNessa. I was literally terrified to take a different pill. With TriNessa I have had no cramps, no menstrual headaches and insanely LIGHT flow. I also feel better. This bc has honestly been the best pill for me."

"Is there a minus 0? I am only writing a review to remind myself to never to take this med again! Omg. 2 wks before my period is due, my face flushed, broke out in worst rosacea, skin scaled, then pimpled, now that my skin is going getting better, my breast enlarged about 5 pds more, overall body weight gain about 5 pds more mid body, waist, I've felt bloated about half month. Oh yes. I also woke up with a swollen face, experienced migraines that kept on knocking me down. energy level is gone. never again tri-nessa."

"This pill has been better than the last 2 brands I tried. I was on Tri-Sprintec for about a year, which I don't know why I put up with it that long. I wanted to throw up all the time! Second I was on Tri-Previfem which is also supposed to be the same pill, that one was even worse. It left a terrible taste in my mouth and made me gain weight, had even worse nausea and worst of all I acted like a monster! I was so irritated with everything. My doctor decided to have me try TriNessa, which all three of these pills are same as Ortho Tri-Cyclen. This time though, it actually worked. I feel back to myself again. I have been on it about a year. I have had a little weight gain and sometimes slight headaches. But overall I like it."

"I've been on Trinessa for about 5 or 6 months. I've gotten extreme head aches and mood swings. I've never had a panic or anxiety attack before and every month I've been having terrible panic attacks. I also experience really bad bloating. I will be switching off of this pill!"

"I took this medicine for YEARS and never had a problem. I went off of it about 4 years ago and have only been back on it 2 weeks. I am experiencing a VERY abnormal amount of discharge. It is overwhelming during sexual activity - very not the way it was 3 weeks ago. I'm experiencing a mild and somewhat unpleasant (to me anyway) odor. I am freaking out because I don't remember if this is the way it was before. Definitely not during sexual activity. I'm going to schedule a doctor's appointment but fear my insurance won't pay for anything else but this can't go on like this."

"Ive been on the pill for 11 months. It did get rid of my cystic acne, but I always had little zits all month. I take the pill at night and for the first week it gives me bad nausea. I have headaches around my period. I have terrible mood swings. I have completely lost my sex drive. I like that my periods on 2 or 3 days, but I spot everyday half way through the pack. The pills not terrible but its not good for me."

"I’ve been on TriNessa for about a year now and it’s been the worst year of my life. At first my dr told me it would take a while for my body to get use to it so I didn’t stop taking it. I didn’t gain weight but I’m having trouble to lose weight. I go to the gym regularly and eat well. I’m a happy person yet now I have never felt so depressed, I randomly cry, I’m always sad, I find it hard to get out of bed and I’m always stressed. It’s about to ruin my relationship unless I get off of it. Any recommendations on what other birth control that won’t make me depressed?"

"I have been on trinessa for about 10 months. I will say that as far as birth control goes it's pretty effective. My periods were basically 3ish days long and were super light AND most importantly I never got pregnant!! That being said I was extremely moody and went through a pretty bad depression. After reading some reviews I now realize that there are plenty of women who have had similar experiences. I've been off of trinessa for about a month now and my mood has had a drastic improvement. Now on to looking for a new birth control."

"I've been on this birth control for about a year. Everything started out great until about 6 months in. I missed about three pills one month and it caused severe nausea. The nausea wouldn't stop even after months of taking my pills regularly. My doctor had to prescribe me with anti nausea medication just so I could make it through the day. I also experienced slight weight gain but nothing major. On a positive note it did regulate my periods and enlarged my breasts."

"I have been on TriNessa for 3 months. My insurance no longer covers Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and I've been told this is the closest generic to Tri Cyclen Lo. It's been terrible. I've been emotional, sad and irritable. I have highs and lows throughout the day. I've had very depressing thoughts. I have cramps the first day of my menstrual cycle for the first time in my life and I'm 32 years old. I spot between periods. I now have acne so I am going to the dermatologist to get a prescription for that. Everyone says to give it more time. That because I was on Ortho for almost 20 years, it will be an adjustment. They tell me that TriNessa is forgiving and my body will come around. I don't know what I'll do..."
