"This was my first birth control pill. The first month, I had some light spotting, which is expected when starting most pills. I've now been on the pill for three months, I've experienced some weight gain but nothing drastic. My breasts have gotten larger, and occasionally in the week before my period, I am easily irritated. It has lessened the acne I get before my period as well, but has not made it completely disappear. No change in sex drive and no crazy mood swings or depression. I am only switching to a lower hormone dose pill because in the last month of taking this, I had a huge psoriasis flare, and I know that it's from the pill because I never had it before taking it, and it cleared as soon as I started the placebos."

"I took this for 4 months. I had just gotten off of Orsythia and that gave me terrible deppression and anxiety throughout my menstrual cycle. This pill however, did the same, BUT only for the 1st week. I thought for a bit that it was a fair trade off for not getting pregnant. So I'll shorten this and make some pros and cons Pros: Extremely regular period (I was before I took bc however) Only 4 days long ( used to be 7-9) Libido stayed the same NO ACNE ( a little break out nearing period) Cons Very bad memory problems (I'd forget what I was saying mid-sentence. And I usually keep track of things extremely well) I still had cramps Anxiety Self-image issues Worse vision Gained a bit of weight Very manic ( very very happy or very very sad)"

"I was on this birth control from when I was 13 to 17 and never really had any issues. The first month, I had spotting everyday but it went away after my first period. I did experience weight gain but that was due to diet changed and eating disorder recovery. I didn't experience and mood swings either. This was the first birth control I had experienced and I loved it way more than the IUD that I currently have."

"I took this in conjunction with Isotretinoin, so I can't confirm that the side effects I experienced were solely from the pill. I experienced depression, which I know is a side effect of the isotetinoin, but there's a chance the pill exacerbated it. I also bloated a lot, I didn't gain weight but I couldn't lose any either. My face and breasts swelled up, which made my depression worse I think. Everything went back to normal, bloating subsided and I became much happier once I got off both medications. I wouldn't go back on this pill though, its scares me that I might go back to that time."

"I've been on this BC for about 3 months now. This is the 3rd prescribed type of pill I've been on. Weight gain was an issue when I first started w/ Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, but my weight has been pretty constant now. My acne has cleared up significantly, which is nice! My sex drive is still the same, unless I'm the water pill week. My periods have been pretty brief compared to my original 7 day cycles, then becoming 2 weeks (yes, weeks!) on the 2nd BC I was on for months, they are very predictable and my calendar is always accurate so I am well prepared, but I still get SEVERE cramps the first 2 days, which has always been a constant problem for me, on and off ALL the BC's I've been on. I am still a virgin, only 17, and not sure why this is??"

"This has been the worst pill ever. I have been bleeding for 13 days and it has not stopped yet. I had to go to my obgyn for evaluation and told to stop taking them right away. I start my new pill tri sprintec next I have taking that for seven years and never had a problem with. The only reason y it got switched is because the pharmacy told me it was the generic."

"This birth control worked fine for the first 3 months I was on it. But then I started getting large, vicious acne on my face which is super unusual for me! I never had a problem with acne, not even in middle or high school. So horrible that now that I'm in college and having to deal with near cystic acne. Not to mention the horrible, severe depression that I suffered from and am still trying to overcome after being off this pill for about 2 weeks. It almost ended my year long relationship. However, me and my boyfriend never had protected sex and I never had a pregnancy scare. But, I will say that the pill is different for everyone!!"

"I have been taking this birth control for about 9 months. In the spring I started back on this birth control after taking a break for awhile. In May, I started having migraines. Previously, I had random headaches but they were nothing excedrin couldn't handle. After getting back on this bc, I had migraines the week of my cycle. I had extreme migraines to the point where I had to go to the doctor and get a shot. I was given a prescription (pills and shots I could give myself). My prescription ran out and I waited a couple of months until I could return to my permanent home and go to the gyno. while I was off this medicine- no migraines. Just started back a few days ago and I'm nauseous, experiencing headaches, and emotional again"

"This medication is hell in a pack. I urge everyone to PLEASE do not take this. I ended up with severe depression and anxiety all over again, the nausea and vomiting was ridiculous and the yeast infections— my god. I had a yeast infection probably the whole time on this pill. I vomited so much from these pills that I lost 12 pounds in about 2 weeks one time. The mood swings were so sad also. I didn’t realize this was all from the pill until my doc switched me to tri-sprintec for insurance reasons. Please don’t take this!!!!! It’s horrible on your body!!!! The only good thing was that I had absolutely no acne!"

"I’ve honestly had no negative side effects in this pill. My acne decreased, my periods start on the same day of the week every month, and my severe cramps are almost nonexistent. I’ve actually lost weight on this pill, I don’t know if it has to do with the pill or just different eating choices. The one weird thing is I’ve developed geographic tongue which is kinda strange but not debilitating."

"Up until last month, I'd had no negative side-effects; no migraines (which are normal for me), no depression, regular anxiety, cleared my hormonal acne, regular if not strengthened sex drive, fairly regular periods. 2 months ago, I had a long and heavy period. It was the first time I've ever bled through. Because of that, I was prescribed trivora, which I hated. In very beginning, my sex drive peaked, but that quickly ended because it made sex very painful and it lacked any pleasure. also left me extremely depressed and crying constantly (I NEVER cry). I switched back to tri-previfem after only a week on trivora. Everyone has a different experience, but mine was positive. P.S. it's only $9 at Walmart."

"I could not recommend this birth control any less. Yes, it worked for preventing pregnancy and it made my period regular, but this stuff made me crazy. I had horrible mood swings, it affected my sleep, I gained weight, lost my appetite, and even lost the desire to have sex. I would rather abstain from sex than take this stuff anymore. I wouldn't recommend this stuff."

"After years on Ortho, they forced me to switch when my insurance no longer covered it. My skin broke out, I gained 10lbs, my libido was non-existent, I sweat constantly and between migraines...which lasted for 2.5 out of 3 weeks I was on the pill...I had depression and breakthrough bleeding. Not something I would recommend."

"One negative thing, I believe it has decreased my libido. I was never one to have huge desires every single day but I noticed I have barely any drive at all. I've been on this for about 2 years. The biggest thing for me, it cleared up my awful hormonal acne. I used to be on Lo Lo-Estrin and that ruined my skin. I still have some scars. It hasn't helped a ton with oil production on my face either. I still tend to be oily. As far as weight gain, this pill hadn't affected me that way."

"All I can say is this is an awful birth control. When I was on it I lost a lot of hair and my anxiety almost tripled. I was constantly dizzy and lightheaded. I was also hungry pretty much 24/7. The positives about this drug is my periods were light, short and the cramps were very minimal, and my acne cleared up a lot. But other than that it was awful."

"I have been taking Previfem for about three years now. The beginning of each new pack I get extremely sick to the point of puking all night & can't keep anything down. On the bright side, I've had a lot of unprotected sex & I haven't gotten pregnant so it does work for birth control. Time to switch. Can't handle the up all night sickness anymore."

"I started this pill for 3 months and nothing changed when it came to acne and I like that my period is starts exactly the same time every month. However, I gained 15 pounds on this pill with no dietary or exercise changes, my sex drive has decreased, and I’ve been experiencing more depression and anxiety when it comes to panic attacks. I’m going to the obgyn to see if I can switch to the IUD."

"At first, I didn't have any problems with this. No nausea, no weight gain, there wasn't really a change in the amount of acne I had. I was told it would help reduce cramps and amount of blood during my period, but it actually did the exact opposite. Cramps were horrible, my stomach was quite swollen, and the length of my period was increased and the blood flow was horribly heavy. I was told it could happen on occasion, but it was rare, so it's a bit unfortunate I had that reaction to it. At least it prevented pregnancy."

"I have been on birth control for over 3 years. I too was on Sprintec until they changed it to Tri-Previfem - didn't notice any changes with my body between the two. The first month I started taking the pill was crazy, my emotions were uncontrollable (it was scary) and my skin was breaking out. I don't like Tri-previfem but it does keep me from getting pregnant. Skin still breaks out but I don't know if that's just me or the pill doing it. I never really got period cramps/symptoms before the pill, now I do. Periods are much lighter and shorter though. My boobs grew about half a size. No weight gain. No libido either - my boyfriend hates it but the pill is the best way to avoid pregnancy. Wouldn't recommend unless necessary."

"I've been on this pill for about 3 years now and it's worked fine thus far. My weight maintained stable, no acne, I haven't had any more mood swings than I would if I wasn't on it and obviously I haven't gotten pregnant after having unprotected sex. My only complaint is that every once in a while I get some spotting for a few days."

"the first night I took it I brushed my teeth, normally I don't look at my tongue but for some reason I felt the need to. I saw bumps and they were scary looking bumbs. Whiteness on the back of my tongue and yellow. It didn't hurt or anything so I thought maybe I just ate something too spicy. So I waited and the next day it was still there but not as bad so I figured it was going away. The 4th day of taking it, it started to hurt when I swallowed so I got kinda worried, I've been getting acne pretty bad and I've been getting really sick to my stomach and headaches and fevers and so my stepmom believes I'm coming down with thrust, I looked up things that can cause thrush & turns out birth control was on that list."

"After using Tri-Previfem for roughly 2 years, I am switching birth control brands. I originally went on it to control my horrible acne which it helped quite a bit, but definitely not 100%. I also noticed a dramatic increase in mood swings. Lows being very low. My period lasts a normal amount of time, cramps are minimal. It definitely lowered my sex drive. Didn’t gain or lose any wait on it. I also noticed that if I accidentally skip a day of BC, my acne almost immediately flares up again. As for contraception, it’s very effective. I’m ultimately switching BC due to the absurd mood swings."

"Been on this BC for a year and a half. This was the first BC I've ever taken, I'm 22 and it works really well for me. I never had a regular period , and this gave me a period the first week of every month, like clockwork. No nausea , vomiting , diarrhea, or mood swings. No pregnancy scare ever ( I take it the same time every day) The only thing is I've gained about 10 pounds within this last year, but not sure if it's because of BC."

"I was on this Tri-Previfem birth control pill for almost 4 years, I cried pretty much everyday due to hormones which made me very emotional. Around the 3rd year of taking it I started to get terrible anxiety, I absolutely had to get off the pill at that point. While this did clear up my acne, the emotional turmoil was just not worth it to me."

"I absolutely love this pill. I was previously taking Yaz which made me a crazy person. This has regulated my abnormal period. I get it the same day, same time, every month with no cramps. It has given me no negative side effects EXCEPT the fact that I gained 20 pounds. Other than that I love it. No decreased sex drive, spotting, emotional distress, etc. None of that. Just weight. Which I can live with compared to the horrible pills I've been on. Also has not failed me in regards to pregnancy. Only reason I gave this pill a 9 was the weight gain! Other than that it's a 10!"
