For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "doxycycline is a very good antibiotic which is very effective. Was given this for a sinus infection that has failed to clear after amoxicillin. Have had it previously so I am aware of the potential nasty side effects. Can make you extremely nauseous if not taken with an adequate meal and plenty of water. As with other antibiotics can upset your stomach and give you diarrhoea. The cons have to be weighed against the pros though, as ultimately recovering from a bacterial infection is priority. I can handle upset stomach, nausea and headaches if it an antibiotic is effective in treating the infection. You will ultimately recover from those but the infection could be the end of you if left to run its course. No drug is without side effects and this should be taken into consideration. People drink alcohol and look what that does to you"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have a severe urinary tract infection, which has also affected my left kidney. Although this medicine makes me sick every time I take it, its in my system long enough to keep in there. It is the worst medicine to ever have to take, but I have to say it is probably doing its job! I still have 4 days of it left, wish me luck, but I would recommend this to anyone who has a serious infection. I have been on 3 other medicines before this one, ciprofloxacin included, and none of them even touched it! It's worth the sickness sometimes for a healthier life!"

For Pneumonia "Doxycyline is very responsive to pneumonia & if you follow the directions on the pamphlet you will be successful! e.g. sit up 10 mins after taking it with full glass of water, refrain from dairy, CA/MG supplements for a couple hours-let it absorb into blood stream. Take exactly every 12 hours (twice a day) even if you have to get up at 3:30 am! Drink fluids all day and rest-strictly for the 1st 4 days-no errands! Also 20 mg of prednisone 1x injection helps cough & wheeze so you can rest. When you do cough it is productive, which is good. Turn on a vaporizer 24 hrs and clean it every other day with white vinegar! You will be a Champ in 4 days. "

For Acne "I’m writing a review because I feel like most people come on to let people know their bad experiences to warn them. But I have nothing but good things to say about doxycycline for acne! I have been on doxycycline for 10 weeks now. It is awesome! I have had zero side effects, and my face is clearer than it’s ever been. Completely clear actually. It did take about 6 weeks to start seeing a noticeable difference but I would absolutely recommend it 10/10. I even had someone comment on how nice my skin is! I would have never thought that would happen to me!"

For Acne "I have always had acne but it got significantly worse in the past 6 months and I felt like I needed to see a derm finally (I am 23). At the point of this review, I have been on doxy for only about two weeks, but already I am seeing a huge improvement in my skin. I haven't really gotten any new acne except a few small pimples that are nothing compared to what I have been getting. I am also using adapalene gel in the morning and tretinoin at night. I will say personally I MUST take the doxy with food - when I dont, it makes me severely nauseous even to the point where I throw up. The nausea would normally subside in ~45 minutes. But when I eat it with a full meal it is totally fine, just have to remember to do that. Will try to provide an update once I am done with the full 2 month treatment!"

For Pneumonia "What are all these bad comments towards doxycycline. First of all, taking it for 2 days???? Come on now. Take your full course. Second of all, nausea?????? It is a side effect. It is a 7 day course you should persist. I’m sure sepsis is a lot worse. Photosensitivity????? It’s not even sunny. If it is wear sun cream. I was on this medication and as a result I did not get sepsis and I did not die? My lungs did not necrose and I did not choke on my own purulent sputum? This medicine is amazing."

For Chlamydia Infection "I had an unprotected sex last December 2018 and got this chlamydia. Took doxycycline (10 days) and the symptoms were gone maybe by day 5. I really thought the infection was gone but this month (Apr 2019) my symptoms came back. Idk what to do this time. If you have any suggestions I'd really appreciate it."

For Bacterial Infection "Took this after a round of Amoxicillin for sinus and tooth pain, the Amox did not do much, but the doxy did. It also changed my digestion for the better and still cannot figure out why, totally unexpected result . My sinus headache and tooth pain cleared. Must be something in the gut it gets rid of also. I have experience no side effects whatsoever. I now have no bloat, pain, or anything in the gut, and can eat anything again without symptoms. Before I couldn't eat pizza, salads, dressings, cheese, mushrooms, spices, pickles, steak and sauces, without problems now I am all good - what gives? I have had gut pains for years, but recently no more. Strange, very strange. If I pass today, I was wrong, but not yet."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "This doxycycline is the only antibiotic that works almost immediately when I get a sinus infection. I had my first sinus infection about 2 years ago, was prescribed amoxicillin and was absolutely miserable while sick and this didn't even touch it. Went back to the Dr about a week later, still feeling awful with all the normal respiratory symptoms and was then put on doxycycline. It started to work very quickly and I don't remember experiencing any side effects. Fast forward to now when I started experiencing the same symptoms of this last sinus infection from 2 years ago (facial pain, runny nose, headache, sore throat) and immediately made an appointment with my Dr who prescribed doxycycline, as it worked so well before. Again, this started working almost immediately and the symptoms started subsiding. This is a wonder drug in my opinion and I highly recommend!!"

For Bacterial Infection "I started on Doxycyline a few days a go after a week of headaches and painful sinuses. I was running a low grade fever and coughing up phlem like crazy. Every part of my body hurt from the fever. Once starting doxy taken with a full glass of water, no vitamins and no laying down for 30 minutes I started to get better. I had a few graham crackers so I didn't take it totally on a empty stomach. My fever broke and the headaches are gone. I had many sinus infections until having surgery on them for a drainage issue 20 years ago. I never had another one until this year and it's a doozy. Doxycycline is the only thing that works for me on these sinus infections."

For Bacterial Infection "Went to a new doctor for a sinus infection as I just moved into a new area. I've always used amoxicillin as I prefer no side effects or drowsiness. This doctor refused that completely and said I need a nasal spray and he would only give me and antibiotic if I got the nasal spray too, okay whatever I'll take both. I go to the drugstore, where the nasal spray cost me $50... And I find out he didn't give me a prescription for amoxicillin. He prescribed me this doxycycline. Well, I am on day 3 and let me tell you. Not only has my sinus infection NOT gone away, it has gotten so bad that I can barely hear and the infection is so bad that all my teeth hurt on the top of my mouth! I have the worst headache. I haven't been able to sleep for 2 nights, I'm high, I can't breathe, I'm sick, I'm in pain everywhere, chills, and I now have a throat and chest infection. I'd cry but I'm so out of it I can't. I feel helpless and afraid. This is the most awful medication I have ever taken."

For Bacterial Infection "Doxyclycline has been the only antibiotic that has helped me consistently clear my severe sinusitis with excessive catarrh and phlegm (even when I was told it was viral) - over 15 years. Once every couple of years or so I have had infections that simply don't clear without help. I have been prescribed many other antibiotics and all that happens is I have to finish the unhelpful course (with no result) and then use Doxycycline. Over years, I have endured the ridicule of several doctors who explain how this cannot help me - I then have to find a doctor who listens - then I can breathe again."

For Bacterial Infection "I never thought I would review a medication, but here we are. That's how BAD this stuff is. This medication ruined my life. I had a rash. Third day in, the rash started going away. But I would've rather had the rash. I've never had anxiety in my life & this made my heart rate around 110 BPM. I'm usually 55 BPM. It made my head RACE. I was convinced I had leukemia & it was end of me, I couldn't breathe, I would burst into tears in the middle of volleyball games & cry all night. Thoughts of everyone I love dying were frequent. Googled the side effects & saw anxiety as a symptom. Even if you've never had anxiety, & you think side effects are bogus, take this one seriously. I begged my doctor to mark to never prescribe it to me ever again. Take this with food! I didn't one morning & got very sick in my car on the way to work. A week off now & I feel good. I was on it for 2 weeks, it took 5-6 days to fully exit my body due to its half-life. Ask your doctor questions. This is no joke."

Couldn't walk, couldn't answer questions. They said this pill doesn't have a side effect like that. I beg to differ. I lost 2 days of memory bceause of this drug. They need more research."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "20 years ago (1998) my wife got a flu shot, which was contaminated with mycoplasma bacteria. The result was Psoriatic arthritis, she was treated with Remicade, a popular biologic, and methotrexate. In 2008 we were made aware of the fact that arthritis is a bacterial infection not an "autoimmune" disease. We found an ethical Rheumatologist who put my wife on Doxycycline 50mg daily. She saw results in 6 months, she was off Remicade. She still took the poison methotrexate for 10 more years until it started liver cirrhosis. When she stopped that and with NAC (N-acteyl cystine) and milk thistle she overcame the cirrhosis. The fact is "autoimmune diseases" are usually a bacterial infection which can be cured, not just treat the symptoms. The ethical doctor is now trying to get her off the Doxycycline which means she is cured of the mycoplasma bacteria."

For Acne "I had horrible mixed acne. I had cystic acne all along my jaw line and then white heads in the hollows of my cheeks. It was AWFUL! My acne was awful and was caused by the IUD I had. After removing the IUD the acne didn’t go away. Keep in mind I’m nearly 30 and never really had acne before this. I was put on 100mg Doxy with a topical Bianca treatment 2-3 times a week cleared my skin up completely. The Bianca is still working away at the scarring but it has improved my skin tone and scarring by about 80%. Cerave face wash morning and night with a light mosturizer after, as well as the Bianca 2-3 times a week is my skin routine and it’s perfect for me. I highly recommend Cerave. It really helps restore the skin barrier. Damaged skin barrier = acne for sure! Luckily I had zero side effects. Just make sure to avoid dairy with the doxycycline and take on a full stomach!"

For Rosacea "I started taking doxycycline one month ago and within 3 days my acne, rosacea was gone and it never came back. My doctor told me it would not help with the redness at all, but it did. I could honestly just cry. I am THAT happy with this medication. It also soothed my very dry eyes that I think was due to the rosacea as well. Take note however, that this stuff is REALLY hard on your stomach if you take it without eating. I get dizzy and dry heave. All in all, I want to hug my doxycycline because it changed my life. "

For Bacterial Infection "I started taking this drug and instantly felt nauseous and fatigued to the point where I could not get out of bed. I started taking probiotics with it which helped with the physical side effects, but the mental side effects were unbearable. I started off feeling extremely depressed, and then came intense waves of anger and anxiety. By my 6th day taking it, I had lost all memory of an entire day and on the 7th day, I was so low. Luckily, I stopped taking it after the intense dark thoughts. It has been 2 days since I took the antibiotic and I feel completely normal again. This drug is evil for anyone susceptible to mental health problems - do not take it!!!!"

For Acne "Been on this medication doxycycline for almost 4 months. Side effects were pretty brutal at the beginning (nausea, vomiting, light sensitivity) but now my body has adjusted to the medication. I have seen major improvement in my skin. I'm not getting any breakouts or big pimples like I use to get before I started this medication. I'm taking this medication along with clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide, this combination has been great. Right now I only have a few bumps on my forehead. I recommend eating before taking this medication tho :P"

For Lyme Disease "June 20 2017 I walked in back of my fence area, where deer travel for 2 minutes, 3 days later had a pimple looking rash on back of left arm. I thought is was an acne pimple or mosquito bite. Started to feel fatigue, pain up and down my spine, brain fog, headache, night sweats. I thought it could be the flu, lucky for me a big red rash showed up 2 days later, so I went to my primary doctor. He tested me for lymes and it was positive. The worst system for me was the pain up and down my spine especially at night and before I woke up, the heavy nights sweats were worrying also. I have read tons of articles on Lymes and hope this can help others. I am in my 50s and in pretty good health, not over weight and exercise 1 to 2 days per week. I have never had any other health issues. The doctor prescribed doxycycline 100 mg orally twice daily for 30 days. Started to feel normal 2-3 days after started taking. I had no major side effects. After and during the 30 days I felt that I had killed the disease. Two months later out of nowhere my spine started to hurt again and night sweats etc came back. I waited 4 or 5 days to see if it was going to go away, but no suck luck. Went back to primary doctor, he thought I should try amoxicillin 500 mg orally three times daily for 21 days. Started taking it but the results were very different then Doxycycline. The whole 21 days plus 5 more days after I stopped having pain in my spine and no more night sweats, but my whole body felt like it was trying to fight off something and my arms felt like they had mild pins and needles in them for the full 26 days. I thought maybe that meant it was working, so I suffered through. After the 26 days I still wasn't feeling right , major bad symptoms were gone but still had brain fog and fatigue. Went to Infectious Disease/ Lyme Dr. told my story asked a lot of questions. He recommended I go back on Doxycycline 100 mg orally twice daily for 60 days and that should be it. I started taking it again November 6th all problem systems are gone and I'm feeling normal again. I also truly believe that exercise with machines or weights and 30 minutes or aerobics along with steam or sauna help a lot, heavy blood circulations gets you immune system to work better and gets the toxins out in my opinion. Lets hope I don't get the lyme systems back again after the 60 days. Good luck to all who come down with this terrible disease."

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed 7 days of 100mg, first day taking 2 pills for a sinus infection. I took the first dose as directed with a glass of water and within an hour was doubled over in pain, nauseous and dizzy Day 2 I felt a lot of pressure in my head, especially the right side of my head, really bad ringing in my ears and feeling like my ears would pop/burst. Today I woke up with a stiff neck and joints with the right side of my neck really tender to touch and feeling extremely tired. I took the medication after a full breakfast and started feeling so much pressure in my head, ears ringing extremely loudly, anxious to the point of what feels like a panic attack. My hands and arms also felt what’s best described as light and tingly. I threw the medication up today on purpose to get it out of my body and thankfully I had it with a large meal. The rest I have thrown away. I’d rather be sick than take this medication."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Doxycycline was the only thing that worked for my perioral dermatitis (which I got from using triamcinolone on my face - huge mistake!). I tried metrolotion at first as it's a more conservative treatment, but it did nothing for me. Doxy cleared it up in about 11 days, but I continued to take it for a month to make sure it didn't come back. It hasn't come back and it's been about a year."

For Pneumonia "I let cough go untreated for 4 weeks because of no insurance, didn't want to create another bill I couldn't pay, and by end of week four I started coughing up blood so went to clinic. Pneumonia diagnosis. Was given doxycycline 100 mg x2 daily for 7 days. I'm on day two and already lungs are clear. Second day had a little stomach upset but I'd not drink much water that time. That is the key...drink water, drink water and drink water. Other than that one instance, no stomach trouble at all. It's a strong antibiotic and it works great, so glad I wasn't given amoxicillin which always tears my stomach up and works nowhere near as good as this has so far. Fist time using it and I'm thoroughly impressed so far. Tough out the stomach issues if you have any, again drink that water, cannot stress enough, not only for this drug but for helping the body to expel the mucous. Not cokes, not coffee or any caffeine, it's a diuretic and will keep you dehydrated."
