For Arrhythmia "Tikosyn did restore sinus rhythm following unsuccessful cardioversion. As others have mentioned, cost is staggering and hoping for relief at some point. Side effects so far are fatigue and truly annoying headaches."

For Arrhythmia "Read prior blogs. Afib continually since second ablation. First lasted 15 years. Tikosyn working 100% with only side affect a dull headache first couple days. No limitations to exercise and my life is back to normal. I was hesitant at first but would highly recommended for treatment of afib"

For Arrhythmia "This medicine was started in a hospital setting, but lowered my heart rate so low that the nurses would rush in to my room every 3 minutes because my heart monitor would alert them. My Cardiologist gave me 2 doses, and wanted to administer the 3rd, but I declined. "

For Arrhythmia "I have been taking TIKOSYN for 5 weeks. It did not kick in until they did a cardioversion on me. I am still having high blood pressure and high heart rate, as well as skipped beats. I have a rash and itching that is very bothersome. But other than that, I am doing well. I feel good but I just wish my blood pressure and heart rate would go back to normal."

For Arrhythmia "I was diagnosed with chronic A-Fib about three years ago after a dramatic life-threatening episode with an antibiotic that interacted with warfarin & put me in ICU for four days and then three morel for a total bill of $86,000. My cardiologist told me he could do nothing further for me as my case was too risky for ablation since I have emphysema. After a couple of months feeling as if I were on the EDGE, my Primary recommended a Cardiologist at a major university and he put me in the hospital for 4 days and on Tikosyn 500 mg. That as two years ago and I have done well as far as my heart rhythm. He did tell me he was worried about my brain...does Tikosyn affect the brain long term, as in concentration & Dementia. I am 74 & new age spots."

For Arrhythmia "I was given a Rx for Predisone to help alleviate bursitis in my hip. After taking the Z pack for 4 days I started have rapid heart rate.... I called the doctor and he said to go to the emergency room, I was admitted to hospital with a HR of 180. After several days of trying different options they decided to use the electrical shock method, doctor tried it 3 times and he said it still did not get into right rate, he called another doctor that specializes in the "electrical" part of the heart and he started me ton Tikosyn and Eliquis and within 4 hours my rate was normal. Then I had to stay in the hospital for 3 more days (7 days total).Having problems with feet & leg swelling and getting my diabetes back in acceptable range."

For Arrhythmia "Experienced CHF in 2010 induced by hypothyroidism which I had detected 30 years earlier but doctors couldn't confirm because of outdated TSH standards; also had hypotension & hypoglycemia which were again medically unconfirmed until 2010 CHF with EF of 13%. Defibrillator implanted in 2010. Put on dofetilde in 2014 by new doctors cuz other docs had ignored effects of amiadarone on thyroid med plus amiadarone toxicity. In 2015 had tachycardia of 168, another new doc said dofetilde should have worked, recommended ablation, which was subsequently done. Experienced crippling fatigue, I phased out dofetilde a year later, no arrhythmias, energy returning plus clear thinking. Found ablation effective, dofetilde ineffective plus energy crippling."

For Arrhythmia "Started tikosyn about 6 weeks ago when sotolol was no longer effective. My issue is frequent PVCs that have on a few occasions resulted in VTac. Had the usual 3 day stay in the hospital and after the second dose, the PVCs went from every other beat to 1 every 20 beats! The PVCs are now even less frequent than that! I am now on 500mcg 2x a day with no side effects! Couldn't be more pleased. Praying that the results last!!!"

For Arrhythmia "I have been on Tikosyn for 6 months. The first 4 months were difficult as there were lots of skips and bumps in between episodes of 1-2 per week. Though the times in arrhythmia were getting much shorter. I still feel as though my condition is improving overall as there are not as many symptoms as before I was taking it. Hope it just keeps getting better."

For Arrhythmia "I was with persistent fibrillation for more than a year. However, I had no apparent symptoms. The exams and pulse recorded fibrillation. I was given cardio version that lasted only a day. Then a number of other medicines with no result. Was given Tikosyn in November 2018. The pulse rate jumped up after first dose but then came to normal. 500 mcg did not suit so the doctor gave me 250mcg dose. Since then no fibrillation. But have no appetite and it seems the weight has increased. Also feel a sort of memory loss. Rest is so far fine. I should see cartdio doctor every six month ( as what it says) but it has been 9 months he will see me after 11 months. I wanted an early appointment but no possibility. Can I see other doctor who is not a specialist or familiar with Tikosyn ? Any suggestion about loss of appetite and weight gain? Also it is too expensive. I get no help for payments. Each month I pay 100 dollar for only Tikosyn/ dofetilide."

For Arrhythmia "I had an unsuccessful ablation in 2011. I was put on Tikosyn in the hospital. A-Fib was not constant . I went inand out of A-Fib for about four years. After that time it became constant. I gained weight, was tired all the time and experience lower back pain. Also, the cost of this drug created a financial hardship. My income did not allow me to get a discount!"

For Arrhythmia "I had the operation and tried all other drugs. For the past 2 years I have been on 500 MG Tikosyn and only go in AFIB for about 2 days every 2 months. Only problem is Tikosyn increases the cost like crazy about twice a month. Sure hope there will be a generic soon"

For Arrhythmia "I went into Cardiac Arrest in 2013. Almost died. Emergency room Dr. finally got my heart started. ICID implanted but had another arrest 10 months later. ICID worked. Put on Tikosyn at that time. In past 4.5 years, I have not had one AFIB and Pacemaker kicked in once. I am a big fan of Tikosyn."

For Arrhythmia "Been on 500mcg Tikosyn taken twice daily for 2 months. Went into sinus rhythm after 2nd dose in the hospital. Experienced headaches and some chest pressure. After one month I began getting indigestion daily, gained weight while eating less, have daily headaches, exceptional thirst, and fatigue. My cardiologist said to continue same dose, along with 25mg metoprolol and 20mg xarelto for another 3 months. With the quality of life being less than before, I don't know if I can hold off that long."

For Arrhythmia "I am scheduled to have an ablation done. I had to stop taking the tikosyn 5 days before the ablation. Can I tell you I feel much better being off this medication. I would have an Afib episode at least 3x's per week. I developed severe insomnia and was extremely tired with low energy and any exertion was too much, such as climbing 5 stairs, out of breath and fast heart beat and extremely exhausted. Not mention I was getting migraines. I do not want to go back on this medication."

For Arrhythmia "I have been on Tikosyn for about 9 years. No side effects that I've noticed. No afib/flutter that I notice. The difficulty for me is that with the long QT from Tikosyn, I have to be extra careful about other medications that can also cause long QT as taking more than one QT prolonging medicine can be deadly (e.g., some antibiotics, some sedatives for surgery and other things). Also, I'm always very afraid of accidentally taking a double dose, which can also be deadly. Furthermore, when traveling abroad, if you run out or your medicine is stolen, you cannot obtain Tikosyn because it's not approved outside of the U.S. And if you forget to take it for too long, you need to be in the hospital for three days to load up again. So, taking Tikosyn, you do need to be pretty vigilant and that can be stressful at times. However, it seems to have worked well for me so I'm grateful for that. I look forward to reading long-term studies though as this is still a fairly new medicine"

For Arrhythmia "I am in my 40s, went in to AFIB with increased frequency, until I could not stay in rhythm for more than a month at a time. Tried different medications and cardio version. Nothing could keep me in rhythm. Eventually was put on Tikosyn, now two years later, I only had two more AFIB episodes that resolved without intervention. TIkosyn has been a miracle drug for me, highly recommended. The side effects for me include fatigue and headaches, but these are small price to pay for staying in rhythm."

For Arrhythmia "Due to Medicare requirements, I had to switch to Tikosyn when the Sotalol I'd been on for years wasn't working. Cardiologist suggested an Ablation procedure but until I had tried the Tikosyn, Medicare wouldn't approve the Ablation. The Tikosyn neither brought me out of the A-fib as they hoped nor has kept me out of A-fib. So to get the requirements all done, I have been in A-fib for approximately 2 months - unable to do much more than sit in a recliner all day - and I still have to wait another 2 weeks to be able to get the Ablation done. My ankles and feet have started swelling, so looking at another 3.5 hour trip to my cardiologist due to that side effect of the drug. Unimpressed!"

For Arrhythmia "I've been told there only 3 cardiologists in my state who are able to do tikosyn loading . I converted on the second day. I've stayed converted for 4 years with no problems whatsoever. I've also had a artificial aortic valve replaced so I'm on warfarin and am fine with INR'S. I wouldn't want to have any other treatment other than Tikosyn!"

For Arrhythmia "61-y old man with paroxysmal Afib previously controlled by Flecainide. Backfired and made Afib much worse during my 3-day hospital monitoring. Tikosyn (500 mcg bid) had a major diuretic effect on me and I went into bouts of afib up to 11 h long with severe tachycardia 160 bpm."

For Arrhythmia "Tikosyn put me back in rhythm 2 hours after the first dose. I'm wondering if anyone gets dizzy or nauseated after taking it? Also my hands get very cold, then will go back to warm. Just wondering if these symptoms can be from the Tikosin?"

For Arrhythmia "I had a heart attack in March, 2007, followed by Atrial Fibrilation starting 2008. I have sleep apnea, so I was use a CPAP machine every night. Sleep apnea can jolt the heart into arrythmia. I had 3 successful cardio versions, but each time arrythmia returned. The 1st one lasted 5 years, then the 2nd lasted 5 months. After the 3rd the Johns Hopkins Dr. informed about suggested Tikosyn. It had risks. You only start it in the hospital, monitored for 3 days. I was already in the hospital for the ablation, Tikosyn worked great, no adverse reactions at all that I was aware of. It was not easy to get, only administered by doctors who are specially trained. The pharmacists often don't know about it, because very few people are given Tikosyn. Pfizer subsidized 90-day supplies, sent to your Cardiologist, not to the pharmacy. Tikosyn worked great for me. It's not approved in the European Union where we now live, so now I am doing other options."

For Arrhythmia "After 6 months of persistent AFIB, I was hospitalized and started on dofetilide, the generic of Tikosyn. I converted to sinus rhythm and did not need cardioversion. Fifteen months later, I am still in sinus rhythm. Too much coffee can give me a feeling of 'pre-AFIB', so one cup is all I drink. I am off balance every time I stand up for a short time. No idea if this is caused by the meds, or not. Also, I tire easily after moderate weight lifting and walking a mile at the gym. Maybe being 75? Regardless, it beats AFIB. I'm also careful to keep the dosing close to 12-hour intervals. I give the medicine a 9 for effectiveness."
