Zipsor (diclofenac) "I started on this medication to relieve inflammation for tennis elbow. It has done a decent job on that, but it has done an amazing job in reducing pain from plantar fascitis! I've only been on it for about 3 weeks. I've noticed no side effects."

"I have been on 100 mg of diclofenec sodium for some time for pain from Spinal stenosis and knee replacement. Works well! Recently the pharmacy was out of 100mg and gave me 50 mg. I thought no big deal. It did not work at all!! Why? Anybody tell me why it would not work. I kept taking them for 3 weeks but still nothing. I returned to my dr who had no answer for me and gave me another script so I could find 100 mg diclofenec and again it work terrific."

"I had acute bursitis of the knee while training for a 10k. My doctor had me on diclofenac, which really helped me get back to training faster than I had thought possible. I had no noticeable, negative side affects."

"Used this for years for my spinal condition and eventually ended up with a hard to diagnose heart condition, I'm pretty sure brought on by diclofenac. I tried my utmost to keep the number of pills I took to an absolute minimum and did not take these pills that often, only in dire need. They were effective up to a point, although sometimes I had quite painful throbbing in the region of my kidneys. This treatment is a lottery and has the potential to kill some patients with it's side effects. It's ingredients are strangely similar to vioxx, which had a wide world ban for it's effects on patients hearts. To my mind, diclofenac seems like a rebranding of vioxx, the offending 'ingredient' being oxidase 2, the same as vioxx. DO NOT TAKE if you have heart problems!"

Zipsor (diclofenac) "I had a tooth crown that became infected and was causing me tremendous pain. Vicoden and other opiates were of little help. 25mg of Zipsor every 4 hours was my saving grace until I could get the tooth fixed."

"I hurt my foot over a year ago, and it was diagnosed as a Bursitis. I was given Naproxen at the time, which seemed to do a decent job, but over the year, like an idiot, I smacked the back of my heel which brings on weeks of pain. This last stint, I took upwards of 1000mg of Naproxen for a week with no relief. The icing didn't help; elevating it didn't help. Finally, my wife forced me to go to the doctor. The doctor prescribed Diclofenac instead. Within a 2 days, I was able to start walking normally again with minimal pain. After reading the comments, that does explain the diarrhea, but I'll take it! Worked great for me!"

Zorvolex (diclofenac) "I just wanted to give advice to "infomom" on her previous post about insurance not covering it or increasing the copay. If you know that the medication is working well for you then I would first ask your doctors office for samples and keep calling so you can stock up on them. Secondly the nurse at your doctors office should be able to submit a prior authorization form to your insurance. If they still deny it then the nurses can fill out and send in an exception/medically necessary form through the appeals department. If none of those work try using GoodRX or see if the company has patient assistance Good luck to you! I will say Zorvolex has worked tremendously the few times I've taken it."

"I've been using 25 to 50 mg Voltaren every few days for severe discogenic (Pain is from one or more intervertebral discs) disease, fingers fairly badly affected by osteoarthritis and hips that are soon to be replaced. With it I can move around without disabling discomfort for about a day before it wears off completely. Otherwise I've been taking low dose OTC (Australia) codeine/paracetamol which also works for short periods and not quite as well. I decided to treat myself to a pain free week with Voltaren 25mg morning and night for a whole week and it has kept me pain free. BUT my anxiety and irritability have gone through the roof. It didn't dawn on me until the end of the week that it was related to Voltaren. Back to alternating with codeine/paracetamol and more baseline pain. Pity."

"I experienced very high levels of pain in my upper back over the course of six months, with hand tremors and trouble swallowing. Muscle and joint pain followed. Tests for many conditions are negative, including rheumatoid arthritis, but we are still looking. Diclofenac was prescribed, and over the course of two weeks, the pain faded. I felt like a human being. I did not experience negative side effects. On the contrary, I did not suffer any of my standard migraines. Unfortunately, after 8 months, the VA hospital changed vendors and the new brand of Diclofenac was not effective. In the week following the change, I suffered all previous symptoms along with a migraine and upsurge in depression symptoms. Very frustrating. Still trying to sort it out."

Voltaren (diclofenac) "Due to a recent accident my orthopedic doctor prescribed this for my knee swelling/bursitis condition. I'm a 51yr-old female and after 2-3 weeks of taking this medicine I was experiencing hot flashes frequently about 5X a day especially at night that wakes me up, which never occurred before. I thought I was pretty young to be experiencing this, but this website was the second place where I researched this medicine where it states "works by reducing hormones" that explains my hot flashes recently. I still need to take a few more pills and swelling has subsided in my knee but do not intend to take this long-term."

"A few times per year I get severe acute tendinitis in my foot, achilles, ankle or wrist. The only thing that ever cures it and provides relief is Diclofenac. It works super fast without any side effects. I only have to take it during my flare ups and it is a life saver."

"My husband and I both take Diclofenac when needed for joint pain and inflammation. We usually take it for about 3-4 days in a row and it works very well with no side effects. We understand that long-term use would require occasional liver enzyme assays so we use with caution... only when needed and for a limited time. We have come to nickname them "magic pills" because they work so well."

Cataflam (diclofenac) "It always works with my migraine pain. I get eye pain (very strong) and having one pill of Cataflam will be enough. Also it usually helps a lot when I have spasm in my back (opposite to chest area) also one pill will be enough or at least makes the pain not so sharp and can go with my day normally. I do not take it with any other medicine also I have only one pill a day."

"I was prescribed the diclofenac cream once before for arthritis and it didn't do a thing,$20 wasted. Had knee replacement in November and didn't realize the prescription the Specialist gave me was for the same thing , another $40 wasted. Doesn't do a thing, useless. Couldn't really afford to throw $60 away..Still in a lot of pain."

"I take diclofenac for chronic back pain. I take one diclofenac every 12 hours and it is very effective. I had mild dizziness and upset stomach early in treatment but now have no side effects at all. When my back gets bad, I still take muscle relaxers, narcotic pain relievers, and chiropractic treatment (when I can afford it), but diclofenac helps me manage things so as to reduce the need for stronger medicines."

"I have taken this for Bursitis of the elbow. I've been on it for 5 days now (50MG twice a day) and I have noticed very little relief from the pain in the bursa itself. Keeping a pad on the elbow has prevented it from flaring up more, but I don't think the drug has helped me at all."

"I was given diclofenac for an inflamed tendon in my foot. I was told to take it for 3 weeks and see how my symptoms were. After 3 weeks my foot pain was gone. I was told to drop it to 1 pill per day for 3 more weeks. I had been in menopause for over a year. I got a period and one of the side effects is changes in your menstrual cycle. Not happy. After I stopped taking the pills, about a week now, I've had horrible pain in both knees that I didn't have before, and the pain in my foot is back. I have a popping in the back of one knee that someone says sounds like it may be a baker's cyst. I can't even walk normal. I have an appointment this coming week and will try to follow up. Not sure if this caused it, but too much of a coincidence."

Zipsor (diclofenac) "I have dysplasia in both hips at 34. Need a PAO surgery on right hip and hip replacement on left, this has also caused sciatic problems from walking with a limp for so long. I have tried numerous pain medicines and although I did not have any noticeable side effects with the Zipsor, it did no more for me than taking 2 Aleves. Maybe because my pain is bone related with the addition of torn cartilage and nerve problems? Glad that it works so well for some. Anything to get off of narcotic medicines and the crutches pre-op would be nice! So, for me and my dysplasia Zipsor has not been the miracle I was hoping for."

"amazing stuff for joints and muscles alike. after two surgeries, I use it along with pain meds for PT. I use it in place of advil, aspirin or ibuprofin as an anti-inflammatory. it's not just for your joints! use it on muscle pain too, but remember it's real medicine so you need to pay attention to the bead measuring stick that's in the box. less is more, so use it sparingly at first so you can add more if you need it."

"I was in a large amount of pain because of a bruised rib cage, it hurt to move, breathe, walk... well do almost anything. I don't like narcotic drugs because they just mute pain, and pain is your body's natural feedback loop, saying "Hey, don't move that way... I'm still broken" I am on a 75mg dose, and within hours I could breathe and move much better- magical stuff. Pain is still there, but more like a sore muscle at this point... not like the sharp barbed wire in my chest feeling it had been. I have been eating with every dose, the doctor told me that this can be pretty harsh on your stomach if you are not careful. Hopefully I can decease my dose in a week. This is like a sledgehammer to inflamed tissue. No ill effects."

Voltaren (diclofenac) "Some things you need to consider. Maybe this was better when a prescription was required as it cost me $11.49 for a 50 g tube. Each application for knees or the lower body is 4.5 inch long ribbon or 4 g. Which means this tube at the recommended applications, 4, per day will last you three days. Some things that you should take into account also is if you have high blood pressure or kidney disease, then you really shouldn’t be taking this stuff. Those are two very prominent medical conditions in older people which also happens to be the same people that have the arthritis problems that need the product. So in my case and in my opinion it turns out that Voltaren is not only ridiculously expensive, but useless."

Cataflam (diclofenac) "At first when I started taking this medicine everything was going fine until 2 days into using it I started getting hiccups but nothing to be bothered by and then that night I woke up hiccuping an it went on an off for at least three days. I tried everything I knew about curing hiccups then I searched the web and found the side effects. "
