Apri (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "Was switched to this from reclipsen-works great for me. I think a lot of the reviews are from people who don't do well on a lower estrogen/higher progesterone pill. Ortho did to me what all the negative reviews on Apri said it did for them. You have to find what works for YOUR body. Don't get scared off by other peoples' experiences-everyone is different. This works well for my body, and is affordable."

Azurette (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "I've been on this pill for about a year, personally, it helped stable my emotions. The pill I was on previously made it so that I was constantly emotional. Sobbing constantly, snappy and always frustrated, plus extremely tired. The only problems I have with Azurette, is that I now have extreme cramps, and I also have issues with my sex drive. My sex drive is super high, but sex is extremely painful if i'm taking my pill."

Kariva (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "I have been extremely happy with this birth control. After about 3 years on this bc, I had to switch pharmacies and my new pharmacy switched me to Viorele, which led to my absolute worst experience with birth control. I had headaches, felt fatigued, experienced a heavier period with more cramping, and gained weight. Finally I realized that even though Kariva and Viorele should be the same, they in fact are not!! Once I switched to a new pharmacy that would specifically fill Kariva, I lost 10 pounds in about 2 months and all the other side effects from the Viorele disappeared. After a year consistently being on Kariva, my pharmacy just switched to Pimtrea, which really upsets me that they can't be consistent with Kariva."

Apri (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "I love this pill I've been using if for over 4 years now. I had some pretty bad acne and my periods were heavy and long now my face is pretty clear and my period is still a little heavy but it's super short now (4 days tops) I haven't put on any weight since I started taking the pill my significant other and I haven't use a condom in over 4 years and I haven't gotten pregnant so it works!"

Reclipsen (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "I am 42 and have never been on bc for very long. Last attempt I was on Nuevo Ring and wound up with a huge clot in my leg after a couple of weeks. First few weeks was a bit rocky on this one. Felt bloated a little moody etc but I am midway through 2nd month and my body has stabilized. I may have had PCOS, definitely had a hormonal imbalance (elevated dhea-s) and am relieved to no longer have super oily/thinning hair, dark hairs popping up on my chin, super heavy periods. I was able to get my cycles down to 33 days and more normalized prior to starting but it is great coming down to 28. Sex drive was good before but even better. I am a person who does not like pills and is afraid of side effects but so far the side effects are minimal"

Apri (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "Although this is the first brand I've tried, it's horrible. I take birth control because I'm lacking iron and my period has become irregular (comes, gone for a week and is back). It's my second month on it and so far, I hate it. This past month, I've gained around 10 pounds, reaching the 120s. I've never even reached 115 in the past, and it makes me self-conscious. On top of that, I've been extremely emotional recently. I cry over small things and sometimes I start crying all by myself for no reason. My stomach also hurts A LOT a week before my period starts and when I'm on it. I have more complaints but those were the major ones. I'm supposed to take it for 6 months or more but I can't handle it and I need to get another asap."

Kariva (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "My doctor started me on Karvia after having a terrible experience with Chateal which gave me terrible acne. My skin started clearing up almost immediately. I do have times when I'm just in a mood due to the extra hormones but I have not experienced any nausea or pain with this medication. Overall, I have no true complaints about this."

Kariva (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "After reading a lot of negative reviews I was nervous at first to start Kariva. I automatically thought it was going to be bad for me but I have not had one bad thing to say about Kariva. It cleared my skin a couple months after starting it along with preventing pregnancy. Other than that my sex drive, weight, moods and eating habits have all stayed the same. I think it really differs from person to person because I love it."

Viorele (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "Absolutely horrible. Been on Viorelle for 4 months now. I get severe headaches for a week, very lightheaded and dizzy.I havnt been able to get out of bed for the past 2 day's, my body feels very weak, I can't get my excercise in, I feel very down. I feel this way every 3 weeks. I want to tell the entire world not to take these pills. I'm fine all month until the 3rd and 4th week and then I experience all this. Awful. I can't wait to let my doctor know on Monday and can't wait to try something else."

Reclipsen (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "I have been taking reclipsen for almost a year now and I have barely any cramps except the day before my period starts and the first day. I used to get severe cramps to the point where I was in the hospital so this definitely helped with that. I dont see a change in my mood, weight, or sex drive but I did start to breakout a little on my forehead and chin which I never use to before this pill. Currently in the process of trying to find a different type of birth control to get rid of the forehead acne"

Viorele (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "I've only been on this medication for a week and I haven't had any problems at all. I take it at night, and I dont have any nausea or anything like I did with other BC methods. I am sensative to contraceptives and on the shot, I gained 30 pounds quickly. On the patch, I threw up only 12 hours after having it on. And other pills made me moody or nauseated. This pill has a low does of estrogen and it has been great so far-- frankly, I think I have been losing weight. Not sure if that has anything to do with this pill or not, but we will see!"

Apri (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "I have been on birth control for 5 years now. I switched to Apri about a year ago and didn't think anything of it. I also suffer from Bipolar disorder and not long after that I had a lot of issues with that and ended up being hospitalized and having my meds re-evaluated. On top of that, I gained about 40 pounds. Because I had issues previously I never attributed them to Apri. I had been on birth control for so long, I just assumed they were all the same. 2 weeks ago I switched to an IUD and I've already lost 5 pounds out of no where despite having worked my butt off for months trying to loose weight with hardly any success. While Apri may not have been the direct cause of my 'episode', I definitely attribute it to my weight gain."

Apri (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "I gave it a rating of 5 for its effectiveness in preventing pregnancy. I only do withdrawal method with this. But the side effects are so awful. Possibly the worst I've had with any brand. It is quite potent I'd tell you that. I get a lot of headaches, nausea and stomach discomforts for a week into starting a new pack, decreased libido, and in the beginning I'm quite dry which is uhm, have never been an issue for me, I get so moody, stress is harder to deal with, I get anxiety attacks, I get so easily fatigued, and the combination of these 2 I just get so unmotivated into doing daily activities. It's pretty bad. I'm changing brands on my next cycle. Maybe a milder combination OCP."

Apri (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "My main reason for using this type of birth control was solely for pregnancy prevention. I've never had any problems with my periods or acne. I've experienced the worst of side effects possible. I'm constantly moody and sad, I have heavy long-term periods, face covered in acne, low sex drive, hair loss, spots on my skin, sensitivity to most soaps and lotions. I'm overall dissapointed with this pill and can't wait to start a new type of contraceptive. Granted I haven't gotten pregnant, but we use condoms so it's hard to judge anyways."

Enskyce (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "I was diagnosed years ago with dysmennorhea and every since then I have been completely miserable while on my periods. (Back pain, leg pain, cramping, clots, diarrhea, nausea, loss of appetite, etc) I couldn't attend work or school because it made me so sick. I felt like the pain was worsening every month.. Tylenol quit working, tramadol had no effect, I had to take a Lortab to feel relief. So I asked my Dr for birth control pills and since taking them I have such a light period I forgot I was on it.. it only lasted four days. I am relieved of the horrible symptoms and I can finally live a normal life. However there were side effects of this drug, as expected (rash, nausea, loss of appetite, vaginal infection) but they are manageable."

Apri (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "While this pill did fix my cramps it did Also give me a blood clot after 3 Months of taking it that lodged in my ankle and then I ended up in the emergency room thinking I had compartment syndrome. Reclipsen (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "Has been effective at preventing pregnancy. I've decided to stop taking it due to side effects. The first 2 months my breasts were extremely tender. I experienced some depression symptoms and mood problems in the first month, which I initially thought went away, but I think I just got used to them. Looking back, I've been WAY more emotional at times (cry at least 2-3 times a week now, used to cry 2-3 times a year) and also fairly flat (don't really get excited about anything anymore). My sex drive has been almost non-existent while on Reclipsen. I used to be keen like all the time and now even extensive foreplay can't really get me going, which makes it pretty pointless to even be on it. Periods are short and light, which I will miss."

Viorele (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "I have been on this pill for probably about 4-5 years. My experience has been overall pretty pleasant. I never noticed it affecting my mood or behavior and I have never felt depressed due to the pill. I also never gained any weight or experienced acne. My periods last about 4 days, previously before using the pill they lasted much longer. I usually experience cramps and bloating the day before and the day I get my period. My cramps have always been pretty bad even before I began using birth control, so I don't think it is caused by the pill. I do recommend this pill for people who are looking to use it as a form of birth control and a way to regulate the menstrual cycle. Unfortunately I must switch pills due to insurance coverage."

Reclipsen (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "I first started with Reclipsen a year ago for 2-3 months and experienced extreme mood swings. Very emotional and sensitive to everything/anything. I'm not an emotional person. I also did get frequent headaches. I decided to switch to a generic (similar to Reclipsen) which alleviated all side effects. I started taking Reclipsen again this month after my annual check up (my doctor refilled for name brand) I'm on week 2 and I'm having the same side effects. I had a major melt down which made me question what is really going on? I realized it must be the birth control. I'm going back to generic asap. I had no weight gain, cramping nor acne issues while taking Reclipsen only mood swings and headaches."

Reclipsen (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "Good at preventing pregnancy and no wait gain but I cry over everything!!! I have never been a cry baby until I started this medication. Really not sure if it's worth taking anymore"

Reclipsen (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "I have been taking the pill for about 5 months and I've noticed a few things. PROS: I haven't gotten pregnant!! My periods are 4 days on the dot and I don't have any acne or cramping. CONS: I've always cried easily but now I cry at least once a day if not more. I am irritable and can get extremely angry very easily and I used to be a very easy going person. My period doesn't start until my 3rd or 4th placebo pill. I get nauseated in cars if I am not the driver. I crave weird food that I never usually eat and I'm exhausted all the time."

Apri (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control: "This has been a terrible experience for me. I've been on Apri for about a year and at first had no major complaints. My periods were still 2 weeks long but they had always been. Over the past 6 months my periods have been miserable. Emotionally I'm a wreck, I cry all the time about everything. I feel like a crazy person but at the same time have no control over the crying. I'm constantly moody and irritable. I sweat like crazy when I have my period and often feel like I'm going to pass out. My periods still last 2 weeks one light week followed by a heavy week. I never had clear skin but this pill has only made it worse. I would not recommend and will be changing within the week so I do not have to experience another month like this."
