Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Bladder Infection "This medicine gave me quick relief from the urinary tract infection, however I am vomiting and have diarrhea. The pharmacist label said to take on an empty stomach but when I called them, they said I can eat just no dairy. Hopefully with something in my stomach the side effects will decrease."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "Amazing! I’m 19 from the UK and was getting recurrent UTIs no matter what I did to prevent them. 2 rounds of nitrofurnantion & trimethoprim didn’t do the trick and symptoms were awful and in a lot of pain/discomfort. Was making me soo miserable. Doc put me on week long course of cipro & I felt sooo much better after the 1st dose! So happy! Don’t let the side effects scare you, and to be honest, even if I did happen to get side effects, it is a balancing act of relief or side effects anytime you take meds. Still got a few days left of taking it but I’m so glad how well this has worked in only the first dose! Hoping I never get one of these again and I hope all these bad reviews doesn’t put anyone off lol x"

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "Prescribed Cipro for a urinary tract infection 500 mg 1 every 12 hrs, noticed a great difference after 2 pills. Made me feel a little sick still after 3 days so I started breaking the tablet in half to help with the blah feeling. Works great for urinary tract infection."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "Great medication for curing UTI but the side effects are horrendous and not worth it. After 3 days tendon pain in my heels, pain and tingling in my feet made it almost impossible to walk. Dr. took me off immediately and now, more than 3 months later the pain is finally beginning to subside. Never suffered side effects from any medication when younger but now at 65 have to be extremely careful."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "This medication worked quickly for me and I had no side effects. I took 500mg for 7 days. I had a horrible UTI where my urine smelled absolutely rancid. Within 48hrs this medication took away the terrible smell and provided me relief. I’m so grateful, thank you!"

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "I'm a 25 year old woman and I was prescribed cipro for a UTI. I got 250mg twice daily for three days. I got this yesterday and today I've taken three pills in total. I have a horrid fear of vomiting, I become suicidal when I think I'm going to be sick. So I'm very particular and paranoid about my antibiotics. I usually respond well to antibiotics but not this! I didn't vomit, thank goodness but three pills in and I'm lightheaded, light sensitive, bloated like no other, abdominal pain and kinda nauseous, itchy and muscle pain. Not to mention my anxiety is sky high! I'm writing this before my current panic attack makes me unable to write. Hope these side effects leave and don't stay! Very paranoid!"

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Diverticulitis "I was given Cipro for mild uncomplicated Diverticulitis. Not only did it not help, but it caused me to be drug resistant and I got the Super Bug, C Dificile. That nearly was the end of me. The infectious disease doctor said people should stay away from Cipro. It is causing serious issues!"

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "Took Cipro two separate times for UTI but still had the infection after completing each course exactly as prescribed. I avoided dairy per instructions and took each tablet 12 hours apart. Both times after Cipro failed, my doctor then prescribed a three day course of Levaquin which worked perfectly."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "I used Cipro for a urinary tract infection (I do not usually get urinary tract infections). The first night I took it, I felt better by the next morning. It took a few hours before I felt better (where I didn't have to go to the bathroom every 3 minutes), but it let me sleep and by the next day that burning sensation had gone away. The only side effect, was I felt nauseated and sluggish the first day. After that, it was great to get back to normal."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "Cipro works well for me without incurring any noticeable negative side effects. Strangely though, I get many of the terrible side effects described by some here when taking levofloxacin - the insomnia, the crippling panic attacks, etc. It just goes to show, I suppose, how differently these meds affect different individuals."

For Bacterial Infection "I was petrified to use this medication with long-term and severe infections, until I got Pseudomonas in my lungs and this was the only drug that it was susceptible to. So, I was forced to take it after refusing it on other occasions, and it has saved my life. I'm on day 16 of 750mg twice a day, so high dose and long-term, and it is working on other infections that even hospital IVs did not. It is a very important drug and life-saving. Yes, it is a gamble, but my doctor said if you feel any tendon pain, stop the medication right away. I'm using straps on my ankles and knees as a preventative and taking it very easy, as I'm on the high dose Cipro for 28 days. Every medication has its risks, and not many people take the time to come and leave positive reviews. I read for days on Cipro, everything available, and it is scary as it comes! I'm so glad I took this medication; it has definitely saved my life and then some."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "Not a fan. Went to urgent care for a particularly painful UTI and was prescribed cipro and immediately took the first dose. The plus side is it started working almost immediately. 24 hours later and I'm about 90% better already. However after taking the second pill I developed some slight nausea and then several hours later noticed some muscle pain in my calves and behind my knees and it has now spread to my shoulders and wrists. After reading that cipro can cause serious and permanent damage I quit using it immediately and asked to be switched to a different antibiotic. Not worth it!"

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "Symptoms I had before being put on Cipro were the usual - blood in urine, pressure on bladder, need to pee every 10 seconds even after going, stinging. After being on 500 mg twice almost all the symptoms were gone but the side effects were horrible. I had nausea, headache, diarrhea, drowsiness and some chest pain. The size of the pills are relatively huge too. Not supposed to split them but I did anyway cos it got stuck in my throat and made me throw up my dinner once. I put the split pill into a 00 veggie capsule which makes it easy to swallow and I can't taste the bitterness."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "I had a UTI with some blood showing in my urine prior to taking two 500mg Cipro tabs a day. Which I took for 3-4 days. I went for a short 1/2 mile walk. Toward the end of the walk I started limping as my right inner foot arch was becoming more and more painful to the point I couldn't walk efficiently anymore. I limped back home trying to figure out why was I having all the pain in my foot? As I didn't twist or turn it or anything like that? I stopped taking the Cipro and the tendon pain in my foot lessened each day. Cipro removed the infection, but it left me with permanent plantar fascia tendon damage in my foot. I wouldn't recommend Cipro to anyone. The first side effect listed is causes tendon damage-ruptures. Not good people/FDA."

For Bacterial Infection "I had Staph Aureus infection after a hip replacement and having immune system problems I had to take this medication (ciprofloxacin)+Rifampacin for 7 months. As I'd had an allergic reaction to the first two antibiotics [Clindamycin and Doxycycline] I had to stay on it. I felt so bad - didn't want to wake up. BUT I'M ALIVE. It was 7 months of hell, but when there isn't another anti-biotic that can kill the infection and you're on the last of 3, you take it. One comment here that said it should be taken off the market, well if it had I'd be dead. It was horrendous but I'M ALIVE. Thank you to the guys that find these drugs, side-effects or no side-effects, without them I wouldn't be here. If you put it into perspective 7 months is nothing. I would stare at the capsules twice a day but I knew the alternative didn't bear thinking about. I hope these comments help others - take them, they killed my infection eventually, they saved my life and hopefully they can do the same for you."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "This drug (Cipro) caused me irreversible joint damage after 2 pills, it also caused weakness, high blood pressure and mental changes. I was weak and unstable for months after use. Years later I still have joint damage. I would NOT recommend, even though it did clear my UTI. This drug should be used as a last resort, only in life or death situation when permanent joint damage is better than the alternative."

For Bacterial Infection "Many times people only write reviews when a medication doesn't work. Therefore, people doing research on side effects become terrified. I have used Cipro several times, always worked great for me and never gave me any side effects. I only used it when I was sick and never longer than 10 days, but it is an anti-biotic I trust. Medications work different on everyone."

For Bladder Infection "I have very frequent bladder infections and I take Cipro. It always works except for this time. I took it twice yesterday as prescribed but I woke up every hour last night having to go. I've never had a problem with it not working, but maybe I'm developing an immunity to it because of the amount I get bladder infections."

For Diverticulitis "Was given ciprofloxacin for suspected Diverticulitis which I ended up not having. After second pill I was having cognitive issues. After third pill I developed tachycardia, muscle weakness, numbness, severe anxiety. I didn't take any more. It's been almost a year and since have developed pain in my muscles, joints, and tendons. My muscles are wasting away. I can't walk very far or for very long. I have hair loss, vision and hearing problems, worsened tinnitus, digestive issues, auditory hallucinations, and chronic fatigue. This drug has destroyed my life. DO NOT TAKE THIS CIPROFLOXACIN ANTIBIOTIC!!!"

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "This is poison and can cause long term muscular, joint and nerve damage and degeneration. After one pill I felt leg pain and tightness that felt muscular in nature. I talked to my doctor and she didn't associate it with cipro. After another day of taking it, the pain began migrating, heading into my joints and moving all around my body. I popped my shoulder and had excruciating pain taking my briefcase out of my car. I read on line and found out about cipro toxicity. I called my doctor and said I read about this and given my symptoms I thought I should stop it. They agreed. I have been off the pills for 5 days now and still have the roving pains. Mostly in legs, shooting, burning, aching, tight alternating. Hands,shoulders,knees..."

For Sinusitis "This is the only antibiotic that works for my chronic sinusitis. I get infections often and they are horrible. I get anxiety & depression when I'm that sick. Cipro is the only antibiotic that doesn't make my stomach sick. This medicine is almost as hard to get now as narcotics. It's ridiculous! After the first dose there is improvement. If you were given this for a sinus infection don't be afraid of it. It's a great antibiotic with fewer side effects than all the others. It's kicking the heck out of a month long infection for me right now. I'm so happy. I was rock bottom a few days ago. Finally I'm getting better."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "I had a urinary tract infection, which unfortunately went up to my kidneys so my MD prescribed Cipro. I already felt better after 2 days of taking it however I was getting terrible headaches that do not go away even if I take over the counter meds. That's the least of my worries though, as long as my infection got treated."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "Oh man thank God for this drug!!!!!! I literally JUST realized I have a UTI and I'm out of the country, but I have ciprofloxacin with me. I can tell I only just developed the UTI since symptoms weren't unbearable yet. Within the last 30 minutes since taking the pill I already have some relief. I'm concerned about the possible side effects after reading these reviews, but honestly I feel like anything is better than a UTI."
