For Migraine Prevention "I actually started taking this for high BP (which is unrelated to the headaches as I have been getting them since I was a teen, before I ever had high BP. I am in my late 20s now). I noticed in the last year I have rarely been getting migraines (and when I do, they are so mild I can ignore them when I get them every fortnight. I started 8mg Candesartan a year ago. A few months ago (Jan 2022), it was increased to 16mg and I haven't had even a mild headache since! Remarkable. (And my BP is still a big high...so definitely unrelated). I didn't realize it was the candesartan until I stumbled across the info on reddit of it being used for migraines. Thank you, candesartan."

For High Blood Pressure "I have been on Candesartan for 16 years for high BP with relatively no problems. Unfortunately it was giving me low Sodium levels so my GP has taken me off it. I am now struggling to find a tablet that suits me."

For High Blood Pressure "I can fully agree with many of the views, been on different levels of Candersartan sorted with 4mg no improvement in blood pressure it wandered around from highs of 180/100 to lows of 111/68 increased to 8mg had pains in my neck and back, along with low heart rate nasal congestion. And also picked up tiredness and some depression all in all a disaster. Great if it works for you I'm back at the Doctors to discuss further"

For High Blood Pressure "been taking candesartan for4 months now, 8mg along with low dose moxonindine. While it has helped with BP it has caused numerous side effects from head pressure, light headed, heart palpitations and very sore achy joints. I will be speaking to cardiologist within the next few weeks and getting this medication changed, I need to have some sort of life back."

For High Blood Pressure "I have been on Atacand Plus 32mg for the last 10 years after a stroke, I was allergic to other medications and have been very happy with them as my BP rarely gets above 130. I also take Lercandipine 20 mg recently I've started having back aches and flu like symptoms I've also lost my appetite have no energy just feel exhausted all the time so think it's time to discuss with doctor if a change of medication is needed I don't know if Atacand can build up in the body or not. I have blood tests regularly and they have always been good"

For High Blood Pressure "I’ve been taking 4mg Candesartan for approximately 3 months. Didn’t do anything to lower my BP. So I then started taking 8mg & my sinuses got so bad my eyes were constantly watering to the point that my eyes were swelling, red from wiping them all day. I am coming off them."

For Migraine Prevention "I have severe Aura migraine, so I get a prescription from my Doctor, Candesatan, beginning with 8mg up to 32mg. When on Candersatan I have more Aura(zigzag) attacks then before using the Candersatan,so I started to back the medication from 32mg to 8mg and now I take no drug for migraine prevention. My Doctor said: Try Topimax instead, to see if this can help instead! I really don't know if it's worth it, but have anyone used Candersatan and then went to Topimax and got reduced Aura migraine? It would help me to know from anyones experience. Also. I tested to take an ibuprofen under an Aura(zigZag) attack and 10 minutes later, I have two auras at the same time instead! No Ibuprofen for me. Thanks in advance. Bob"

For Migraine Prevention "Neurologist prescribed Candesartan for daily complex migraine aura. GP tried Triptans which didn’t work. Suggested 3 ibuprofen which didn’t stop migraines but gave 3 hours relief. So neurologist suggested taking blood pressure tablets. I had normal blood pressure overall but neurologist thought I might be having blood pressure spikes. Given candesartan, told it had the least side effects. Started on 2mg and the dose gradually increased to 16mg after regular bloods. Quickly, migraines became less frequent, less intense, aura symptoms slower. Once on 16mg, migraines virtually stopped, maybe 1 or 2 a month and easily stopped dead with Ibuprofen. For me, Candersartan was a miracle migraine cure. Side effects, nasal congestion, sore throat, raspy voice, bit light headed. Took for 2 years & then started getting terrible neck pain, arm pain, leg pain so bad walking was hard. Stopped candersartan, all pain stopped 3 days later & sinuses/throat back to normal. Migraines still ok."

For High Blood Pressure "Was having very irregular heartbeats and b.p. around 140/82 so decided to restart Candesartan after 8 months. Initially took 16mg mornings but did not improve either BP, or erratic beats. So discussed with GP and now take 8mg mornings and 8mg bedtime. Well what a difference. Beats now 54-62 average and BP now 119/69 averaged over the last two of three measurements. Now the beats are regular my stamina and tiredness have both gone to the better. No other side effects noted. 75 yrs. Comfortable taking this medication for the present."

For Migraine Prevention "I was prescribed Candesartan 8 mg for migraine prevention. I tried for a little over one month but unfortunately in my case it didn't help. The attacks remained just as frequent (>15 a month). Maybe the intensity of the attacks was a little reduced, but not considerably. I could not go on a higher dose because my blood pressure tends to be low at times. For this reason I was often feeling weak and dizzy when standing up. Other than this, I had no side effects."

For Migraine Prevention "Took candesartan for 1 month. Had dull headache every day. Felt out of it and couldn’t focus. Developed lower back pain and sporadic ringing in ears. Only thing that improved was my rhinitis ( blocked nose) cleared up and my breathing felt deeper and less shallow. Was absolutely no use for migraine prophylactic."

For High Blood Pressure "Have been taking this medication for 8 days. From day 2 I have had severe back pain, which is only relieved by lying down, but once I’m up walking for a few minutes the pain returns. I also feel weak all over. My blood pressure has not got any better. I want to know if the back pain will resolve in the short term or is this constant while on this medication? Also how long before my BP will improve? My cardiologist has told me to try Amlodipine 5mg…. I don’t know what to do as the side effects to this drug seems worse??"

For Migraine Prevention "This has been a godsend for me. I’ve suffered from crippling migraines for about 10 years, which had escalated in frequency to the point where I was having headache days for half of the month. This was despite my trying a number of different preventative drugs, most of which I found had side effects I couldn’t tolerate. I started taking Candesartan two months ago; initially 4mg for two weeks then building up to 8mg. I’ve not had a single migraine since I’ve been taking the higher dose. That’s completely unheard of for me. Side effects are minimal; it has dropped my blood pressure and I have to be careful sometimes when standing very suddenly as I can feel a bit dizzy, but I’m aware of that and it’s not severe enough to cause problems. So happy to have been prescribed this medication as it’s changed my life."

For Heart Failure "I had terrible reactions to previous blood pressure meds, I was on them for approx 4 months. I was in hospital with chest pains, constantly dizzy and felt like my heart was going to fail. Had nuclear stress test everything was fine. My doc put me on Candesartan 16mg now 4 months later exactly the same side effects but worse. Felt like my heart is giving up, muscle pain dizziness and weakness. Every time I go to doc they want to put me on a stronger dosage, they just don't listen to me."

For Migraine Prevention "I have been taking 16 mg of Candesartan for the past 2 years, and now I only experience a migraine approximately every 3 months. Candesartan and Apo brand names are most effective for me. I have found that other brands of Candesartan do not work as well, and pharmacists suggest that those brands may contain fillers that do not agree with me and cause mild episodic headaches."

For High Blood Pressure "I have had a terrible time with this medication. Has not brought my blood pressure down. I have been having heart palpitations, sharp pains in my chest that is so severe I thought I was having a heart attack also troubles breathing. I was fine on a lower dose with side effects but it wasn't bringing my blood pressure down so the doctor put it up to 24mg from 8mg. I hope other people have better luck with it. Just wanted to let people know if your having these symptoms that's what it is. Thanks"

For High Blood Pressure "I have only taken this drug at 8 mg for a week, but already have stuffy, burning, nasal congestion issues. Also, post nasal mucus causing a constant cough especially at night. Heart rate is 15 points higher with a jittery feeling all day. Loopy, lightheaded and exhaustion which includes difficulty walking from seemingly weak legs. Was hopeful, as other ARBs give me migraines with auras. Will have to scratch this off my list too. Bad medication for me. Wish others would mention what alternative BP med is working for them."

For Migraine Prevention "I’ve had Aura migraines since I were 10 (I’m now 25) and they have got increasingly worse. So much so I developed anxiety when I were 18 at the fear of getting them. Effecting my everyday life. I were prescribed 20mg Amitriptyline at 21 which I was on for 4 years. I found they helped with the anxiety but didn’t stop the attacks I were getting. Last summer my migraines spiked from 1 or 2 every other month to 5 in 3 weeks and I were prescribed 8mg Candestartan as confused as to why I were even taking a drug if it weren’t helping the core issue. From then until a month ago my migraines have actually increased! Recently I’ve had one every week for the past 3 months. I’ve now been jumped to 32mg and I’m nervous of the results! Fingers crossed it’ll reduce otherwise it’s back to the brain fog of Amitriptyline!"

For Heart Failure "Started on Candesartan 2mg for reduced ejection fraction in the hopes that Entresto would be the next step. Day 1 - headache, light headedness, Day 3 - back ache, abdominal cramps. Days 4-10 - dreadful volatile black tarry stools, faecal incontinence, runny nose, ears, cough and tiredness. I persevered for 10 days as everything I’d read said symptoms would subside but they got worse. I’m confined to the house, can’t leave the toilet so abandoned the drug."

For Migraine Prevention "I'm a 41yo male who had suffered with 20 years of horrific migraines witj increasing use of triptans up to 12/month. After 6 months of 12mg I have only taken 3 triptans as have been practically migraine free. This drug totally changed my life, I wish I had found it years ago. Had 2 or 3 days of light headedness when starting out, but this went away. I've also had a mild upper respiratory tract cough which I'm suspicious is a side effect, even though studies show that it shouldn't be. (Also reduced my blood pressure from 135/90 to 120/78)"
