"I find that Zirvirax doesn't prevent the coldsore from appearing (even if applied at the tingly stage). But what I do find is that once the coldsore appears it's very small compared to not using it. I supplement the treatment with Lysine tablets and it keeps the blister/scab very small (about 2mm in diameter as opposed to 5-6mm) and is usually gone within two to three days rather than 1-1.5 weeks."

"From 6 yrs to 25 yrs I had a lot of cold sores, 25 yrs to 60 yrs hardly any, 60 yrs to 79 yrs they are more frequent, I wouldn't have suffered so much if I had Acyclovir Ointment. Applied when first noticed and the cold sores just went away."

Zovirax Cream (acyclovir) "Would highly recommend giving this a go. Was diagnosed with HSV1 cold sores last year and this has by far been my best experience. Had a cold sore first appear yesterday and has pretty much already cleared up after using this Zovirax Duo a few times over the course of 24 hours. Love this stuff!"

"Works every time if you get it at the first signs of a cold sore. For US cold sore sufferers can who make it to Mexico, you can get it over the counter under a generic brand for 65 pesos at any supermarket with a pharmacy - that is about $3 USD."

Zovirax Cream (acyclovir) "My son had a cold sores out break, got a Zovirax cream as treatment. It works well but the cream ran out before cold sore. I paid $14 for a tube 2g of Zovirax, the amount of cream not even cover 3 days treatment. The tube with a size of lips sunscreen but the amount of cream inside is ridiculously tiny. Such a ripoff, please consider low income consumer with your products."

Zovirax Cream (acyclovir) "Okay so I always had cold sores all my life, one advise, don't use zovirex. It spreads and it leaves a nasty scar which takes ages to heal. Use ordinary Vaseline to keep it moist but only apply small amount, too much moisture can also create the cold sore to worsen. Aqueous worked for me."

"Everyone is saying how expensive it is $250 etc, why don't you buy a uk version and have it delivered to USA, here in uk online you can buy Zovirax (active ingredient 5% acyclovir) for like £5.00 which will be like $7.50"

"This is by far the best cold sore ingredient. The ointment+pills have worked wonders for me. I am never the person to leave reviews, but needed too for someone like you out there who's looking for a cure to Cold Sores. *ACYCLOVIR IS THE BEST*"

"I was prescribed Acyclovir Ointment 5%. First of all, the tube was tiny and cost me $113.00. Secondly, this cream did not work on my cold sore. I followed the instructions and used it every 3 hours. I am on day 8 of 10 and my cold sore is still there and does not look like it is healing. Don't waste your money. Use Abreva instead."

Zovirax Cream (acyclovir) "I have used Abreva in the past with no luck. I started using Zovirax on day 3 of my outbreak so a blister had already formed. This stuff is great! It stopped my cold sore from getting worse and started healing it right away. Now that I have it, I'm hopeful it will work even better if used right away at the first sign. My only complaint is that this stuff is EXPENSIVE. Without insurance its $700 for a 30g tube. With insurance it was still $171. Honestly it's been worth every penny."

Zovirax Cream (acyclovir) "I am 21 years old and just suffered from my first major breakout of cold sores in my life. It was pretty bad and I was frustrated from the unsightly sores appearing on my lips and mouth. I also had an outbreak just below my eye in the sensitive skin. I went to the doctor and she prescribed me with the Zovirax cream and I saw a lessened appearance in worst of the cold sores on my lip in less than 24 hours. While it takes time for them to heal, I definitely think this is a worthwhile drug. It cost me $45 so its not super cheap, but it really alleviated some of my symptoms. I had another cold sore forming on my lip just below the bad one and it stopped that one dead in its tracks and I already see it healing and not blistering. Worth it!"

Zovirax Cream (acyclovir) "I love zovirax, I prefer the pump tube to the metal tube as I feel it's more hygienic. However I have recently been trying Zovirax Duo which is a few dollars more than the regular cream, but it's amazing. The day after noticing a cold sore, the swelling is already very reduced and scabbing forms. I find the coldsore heals so much faster with the Duo cream"

Zovirax Cream (acyclovir) "Not so much the effect but the affect of opening this packaging? I could not believe my eyes the size of 2g tube? Absolutely shocking to say the least & for £5. Once I pierced it open I could then turn the tube at least 3 times before the cream appeared. I'm sure this is a great product? But will there be enough to get rid of my problem?"

Zovirax Cream (acyclovir) "I hate Herpes/Cold sores (I guess it's the same). I had trouble with it for many years. I always scratched it, or accidentally damaged it with my teeth. I always freaked out when I felt that tingling on my mouth, then I saw the herpes. About a year ago, I found this Godsent cream, and man, it's awesome. It penetrated the herpes in like 3 days. That was a year ago. Now, about 2 days ago, I noticed that I would have a herpes (it hurt and was ready to be visible, so it was in an early stage), so I quickly bought one, and just one and a half days later; BOOM it's gone. It hasn't even popped, and it was really ugly in the morning. I use it every 3 hours and man, this is a lifesaver. It's completely gone. I recommend this epic cream; it will save SO much time. Where I live, it's really affordable (in USD like 5-6$). I guess if you are allergic, you can't use it well, but if you don't (like me), this will kill herpes in 2 days. Totally awesome!"

"You are going to love this, my small tube of aciclovir ointment costs $900. Welcome to 'Merica. Luckily my insurance covered it or I would have lots of cold sores. The stuff is marginally effective if you catch the cold sores at the right moment. I am switching over to oral hoping for better results. "

Zovirax Cream (acyclovir) "I have always suffered with cold sores (Female mid 30’s UK) and even as a child when my mum would buy me Zovirax I knew it made them feel worse than if I just left well alone, therefore have avoided it for 20 years. However over Christmas I caught Strep And was very run down and started to get swollen lips (always my first sign) the doctor strongly suggested getting some Zovirax urgently to prevent spread. Within hours of applying the sores had spread and tripled in size. Cut to a week later both my nose too And bottom lip have blistered like I have touched fire, have filled with pus and scabbed and feel extremely numb. I will never use the product again. I will be left with scarring"

Zovirax Cream (acyclovir) "I am from the UK but was given Zovirax cream for a cold sore while in Spain. This caused the cold sore to blister and spread. The surrounded skin around my mouth also burned and blistered. Will never use again. Absolutely awful experience. Skin still not healed a month after use. Will stick with Blistex in future."

Zovirax Cream (acyclovir) "believe it should be used with caution and not liberally and consistently even if you eat or accidentally rub it off. I have been using acyclovir for years for cold sores and this time I tried to catch a sore that I thought was coming up that night. Used a bit in the morning again still puzzled whether it would show up or not. By the end of the day I had severe burns from the ointment reddening the mouth. Not even a small blister of a cold sore in site but a nice lining of sheer burn on my lips all the way around the one side of my mouth from this cream :( so bummed. Washed it off and cooled it with ice which helped but didn’t prevent the burn marks :( not even sure this stuff ever helps but I panic every time I get these so I will use another brand again but with caution!"

Zovirax Cream (acyclovir) "Right, I’m from the UK and anytime I am on my period, I develop this huge lump on my lips. I used to just put Vaseline on and move on, until I found this cream! It now only takes 3-4 days to get rid of my cold sores. I put it on, and I don’t feel the pain or the tingling, and it helps to stop the spreading! Even when it bursts, Zovirax still helps. This cream is actually a godsend."
