Smell and Taste Loss

The ability to smell is intimately linked to the taste of food. Sometimes people who lose the ability to smell become aware of reduced flavor of foods before they realize the sense of smell is impaired. Pure loss of taste for sweet, salty, sour and/or bitter has different causes than loss of smell (with or without loss of flavor).
