Shortness of Breath In Pregnancy

Contact your doctor, nurse, or midwife as soon as you can. These symptoms can occur if your heart is not pumping blood as efficiently as it should. This is called heart failure, and it needs to be evaluated and treated as soon as possible.

A type of heart failure unique to pregnant women is peripartum cardiomyopathy. It is rare. It usually occurs after delivery but can start in the last two months of pregnancy.
