Reason for the Shortage

  • Apotex has an import ban on all of their solid formulations, including gemfibrozil tablets.
  • Blu states the back order was due to a raw materials shortage.
  • Major could not provide a reason for the shortage.
  • Major discontinued their gemfibrozil presentations and replaced them with products with different NDC numbers.

Estimated Resupply Dates

  • Apotex has all gemfibrozil presentations on back order and the company cannot estimate a release date.
  • Blu has gemfibrozil available in 60 count (NDC 24658-0130-60), 180 count (NDC 24658-0130-18), and 500 count (NDC 24658-0130-05) sizes. 
  • Camber has gemfibrozil available in 60 count (NDC 31722-0225-60) and 500 count (NDC 31722-0225-05) sizes.
  • Major has available gemfibrozil 60 count (NDC 00904-5988-52), 500 count (NDC 00904-5988-40), and 100 count unit dose (NDC 00904-5988-61), presentation. 
  • Pfizer has available Lopid 600 mg tablets in 60 (NDC 00071-0737-20) and 500 (NDC 00071-0737-30) count presentations.
  • UDL has available their gemfibrozil robot-ready presentation (NDC 51079-0787-19).
  • Teva has gemfibrozil 600 mg tablets in 60 count (NDC 00093-0670-06) and 500 count (NDC 00093-0670-05) presentations on allocation.
