"I used Monistat 7 for the first time recently. While it does a good job of getting rid of the yeast infection, it felt like my hoo-ha was a volcano. It was a lot of pain, but it did clear up the yeast infection."

"I wanted to share my experience for those who are terrified of this drug. I have used Monistat 7 many times in my adult life and never experienced anything but the removal of my YI. IT WORKS! I’ve tried the one and 3 day options and both never do the job. My doctor recommends the 7 day as it’s a longer course and the most effective. It’s a little messy and you have to wear a panty liner but other than that I have zero side effects. I am also keenly aware of when a yeast infection is starting so I do not wait until it’s bad to start Monistat. This may be why I don’t ever feel burning. It can be an effective tool if you start early so don’t be afraid of the negative reviews!"

"I am not sure what type of condition half of these women’s vaginas are in, but I have never had an issue using Monistat. Of course it burns the first day ( I’ve only burned once and no where near as bad as the women are claiming) you are inserting a plastic object full of a cream substance into an already open skin area of the body that’s infected. Anything that you put up there would burn hell! It does what it is designed to do and if I had to endure moments of being uncomfortable to get rid of the infection, then so be it!"

"Ok so I've had my YI for about 5 days now and I've finally bought monistat 7. Oh my! After I inserted my first application I felt instant discomfort. I was so scared because it was burning and itching and you really can't do anything to stop it. It's been about 30 mins and I have been putting cold pieces of tissue on my lady parts and it had been helping. Hopefully tomorrow is easy. Wish me luck ladies!"

"I've had YI in the past, and they would go away either by pill or just because. This time I was fed up so I bought the monistat 7 day pack and BOY OH BOY. Less than a minute of inserting that thang it started to BURN. I'm saying like putting hot bacon grease on your kitty type burn. Sitting in a bath full of hot sauce type burn. Dropping the curling iron on your kitty type burn. And it's gonna burn for a good 30 minutes. I really wanted to scratch but I couldn't. I'm telling you, this thang is on FIRE. So it betta work in the morning. And this YI better be gone after these 7 days bc I can't do dis no mo."

"Day 1: MAKE SURE TO LAY DOWN!!! Don’t let it get outside your vagina. Put as far back inside you as possible. It burned and itches like lava, like fire ants in your vagina. Take pain meds and go to sleep after. Day2: Burning and itching I had from yeast infection was very minimal and I sat in the car all day for a drive. Inserted and laid for five minutes but forgot to go pee before hand . After peeing two minutes of being up the itching and Burning intensified twice as worse as yesterday’s. Day 3: Only noticed any symptoms when it came to putting cream on. I stayed laid down for 25 minutes after inserting it didn’t burn but medium to high itching still. Let you know more on day 4."

"I am 8 months pregnant with a YI and had to start to take monistat 7. I read all the reviews knowing it will burn. And oh boy does it burn the first day for 30-45 mins. I’m on my second day and it’s not so bad today a little heat but not that I can’t handle. Seems like if you catch the YI fast enough it’s not horrible. But me I thought it would go away with out this. So I have it two weeks before I treated it. I hope it just get easier as day 7 comes"

"I used Monistat 7 two months ago and I felt the itchy sensation everyone is talking about. I felt it the first three nights, and on the fourth night no itchiness at all. I think the itchiness is because the cream is killing the fungal infection. I'm using the cream again just to make sure it has all gone for good. The last doses there is no itchiness or any discomfort. I highly recommend it."

"Monistat 7 is my go-to. I'm on the first night and I timed how long the intense burning /itching lasted (29 min). I rated the product so high because of its effectiveness. I hate yeast infections and I try to avoid them at all cost (probiotics, yogurt, cotton undies, using the same soap, etc.) but like others, I was prescribed antibiotics due to an oral surgery and voila, yeast city. Tips: cold rag placed on area or fan blowing straight on your area while you're laying on your back. Patting area gently helps as well. Try not to get the medicine on the outside of your vagina. If you've had the yeast infection for awhile or if it's just aggressive, chances are your area is dry and skin is probably irritated...use some kind of lubricant (I use A&D ointment) not much of it but it may help with comfort. And yes, it really really sucks at first but it beats the alternative in my opinion. Speaking from a woman who had gone to the emergency room after using monistat 1...you can do it."

"I was having vaginal itching/discharge, and I knew it was a yeast infection. So, I decided instead of going to my obgyn I would try this over the counter product. I can honestly say that my vagina is on fire! If you do not handle discomfort well then DO NOT use this product. Once I inserted the medication it took about 3 minutes before my vagina lit up into flames. Once I laid down I knew something did not feel right. The inside, outside, and even my butt was burning and itching like I had been attacked by fire ants. This discomfort lasts for a solid 30 minutes before I can finally fall asleep. I will say that the product helps with the yeast infection itself. However the burning/itiching from the product itself is miserable."

"I’ll start by saying that Monistat 7 does work, if you can stick out the first few days. I’m pregnant and have read that this is the safest thing to take when expecting. Normally I’d just take diflucan or boric acid suppositories and be done with the yeast infection, but had to rely on this. The first two days were pure hell, almost immediately after inserting I’d have the most intense internal vaginal itch of my life and that wasn’t even my symptom before taking it. I laid in such discomfort for almost an hour before I fell asleep and then in the mornings I would have a slight external itch that wouldn’t last long. By day 3 the side effects had subsided and will be on day 6 tonight and going to finish the treatment because it’s worked and I have no more clumpy discharge. In the future, I will try the generic version of monistat because who wants to feel like your crotch is on fire or that you want to rip your entire vagina off to get to the itch?"

"ahhhhh!!!!! Bought Monistat 7 been and been using it since Saturday its now Wednesday. I've had a yeast infection (YI) before went through a dr. got it over the counter prescribed no issues. I had a bit of irritation then I knew I was having symptoms of a YI so I went a got Monistat 7 & soon as I used the one insert it immediately burns and itches ! Which my YI wasn't even burning and itching at that point alone, the medicine made it so itchy an of course I did it right before bed an can't sleep because it's non stop for at least 45min. Today I had zero symptoms of YI but I wanted to follow through the 7 days & literally just used it again & instant itching!!! I'm not sure if this is working or not lol. But it is horrible the itching!!! like the medicine makes you feel worse to me than my actual YI ha"

"UPDATE: Day 2 So far night #2 hasn’t been bad. No burning. Very slight itching. Definitely tolerable. Will go forward with rest of treatment. Will update you all if I make it to day 7 or not :) *** I remember using this in the past with no side effects, not sure what the difference is now. Maybe because I’m prego? Anyways I’m 27 weeks and my Dr advised for me to try this first because the pill will pass through the placenta. There is a tingling sensation, which I can handle. It’s the itching driving me insane. Fortunately for me no itching or burning on the inside, it’s the vulva-wish I hadn’t rubbed any on it prior to insertion lol. The itching seems to be subsiding gradually, not as quickly as I’d like though lol. I will try night 2 and then from there decide if I will take the pill instead or not. 2/23/2020"

"What happened to this formula?!? I've never had issues with this brand before. And just like most of the comments on here, I inserted the cream and everything was fine until I stood up, the cream naturally started to leak out, and immediately it started to burn but it was the unbearable itchiness that sucks. Then I came on this site and now wonder if there has been a bad batch! Complaints are almost all recent--July 2017. I used ice to help with relief... Monistat, what's going on?!? Lot # on box: R41816 Exp: 02/2019"

""A mild increase of vaginal burning, itching, or irritation may occur-." First off let me tell you that this statement is complete rubbish. Never have I felt the flames of Hades in my nether regions before, nor the horrific itch of a mosquito plague accompanying it. I read that the itching subsides as the treatment wears on so I will tough it out. However that does not stop my desire to punch the creators in the face."

"I tried monistat to treat a yeast infection I felt could be fixed without a dr visit and it did in fact burn after inserting and even worse after day 2. Maybe it was mental triggered anticipation at that point. I even stop using it on the inside on the 6th day just placed on outer affected areas. Symptoms decreased but it felt dry down there. I scheduled a appointment. During the appointment the dr assured that monistat did definitively work she could not find the infection, but still prescribed fluconazole 150mg to just insure it was gone. She stated monistat is best when used early the moment you fell slightly off down there. Waiting till you feel itchy, scratchy, burny or have a discharge will make your skin raw and monistat has alcohol it stings like a cut. Take it early or just set a appointment if your nani feels raw already."

"First time I got a yeast infection due to the fact that I'm 3 months pregnant and it wasn't to bad. Yes the Monistat did burn and itch but it wasn't so bad. I didn't even know I had a yeast infection til my ob told me and I decided to treat it right away even tho I didn't really have much symptoms. The first 2 nights I felt the itching and burning but by the 3rd day I felt a lot better I wanted to stop but I read it's better to continue it so I finally finished the medication today. So ladies it really works you just have to be able to bear through it and take it like a champ u will be much happier once ur pain free and yeast infection is completely gone."

"I'm still using this, but I wanted to share my experience because the horror stories here terrified me so much (this was my first YI, caused by antibiotics), I was just sticking coconut oil in and hoping for the best. It did help, but it wasn't getting rid of the YI totally and I didn't want it to get worse. I had some coconut oil around there from before, and I applied the anti-itch cream beforehand. I think both helped (the lubrication particularly). And then because I read that it was getting the cream outside you that really burns, I stuck a towel between my legs and clamped down. I experienced a warm sensation, a bit of cramping, but no difference in itching, and nothing I would describe as burning. I think having been using the coconut oil definitely made things easier, it was WAY worse a few days ago. I was so sore and irritated I was basically lying with a fan between my legs. I'd say take some precautions if you're worried, but everyone's experience is different."

"Yeah monistat itches & burns for about 10 minutes after inserting, but worth it! The 7 day stuff knocks the infection out, thats why they say to apply it at night at bedtime. Next day you will have epic relief. Do all 7 days otherwise it might come back"

"I got the Monistat 7 day treatment. The first night was a bit rough for me. About 30 mins after insertion I felt the burn. It lasted about 45 mins. After that the burning went away. I'm on day 3 now and I kinda feel a little tingly feeling but nothing more. Overall its working cause at first I was itchy, burning and had a discharge. Now all that is gone except for the little tingly feeling. After I got past the first day its smooth sailing for me. My yeast infection is almost gone. I would recommend it."

"Holy Moly. I'm on day 3 of Monistat 7. The first two days I was in agony when I applied the cream. Today hurt, but not as bad. I didn't have to jump up and down yowling like a drowned cat tonight! Score. Still painful though. The burning and itching during the day I noticed is practically gone. I will finish the 7 days, because I believe it's working. I stumbled onto this site making sure the pain was normal. I am SO GLAD I didn't get the 3 or 1 day because I probably would have went to the ER."

"So I've tried monistat 7 twice and the first time I got a slight burn and itch but the second time I got nothing, I do apply at bed but for some reason when I get up to pee it comes out I don't know if that is normal or not, "but I would like to let everyone know that the burning and itch is normal especially the itching that's showing you that the monistat is working now the burning comes from the inflamed vagina that's irritated due to the YI I don't know why you ladies to think something is wrong with the product it's definitely not the product", I would definitely use it again it does help a lot especially when you can't get into the doctors right away...but I suppose it really is determined by how much pain each person is in"
