Vivotif Berna Vaccine Delayed-Release Capsules

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using Vivotif Berna Vaccine Delayed-Release Capsules:

Diarrhea; fever; headache; muscle pain; nausea; stomach cramps or pain; vomiting.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Vivotif Berna Vaccine Delayed-Release Capsules:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); difficulty swallowing; unusual hoarseness.

Side Effects by Body System

General

Of the side effects reported during clinical trials, only nausea occurred at a statistically greater frequency with the oral vaccine than with placebo.

Gastrointestinal

Gastrointestinal side effects have included abdominal pain (6.4%), nausea (5.8%), diarrhea (2.9%), and vomiting (1.5%).

Other

Other side effects have included headache (4.8%) and fever (3.3%).

Dermatologic

Dermatologic side effects have included rash (1.0%) and urticaria.

Hypersensitivity

Hypersensitivity reactions have included one case of nonfatal anaphylactic shock.
