"Had zoledronic acid infusion in March 2021 and collapsed straight after it was given and went into hospital with high blood pressure. Sent home but back again 6 weeks later. Have been ill ever since, now on blood pressure tablets but very unsteady and cannot go out without assistance. My life is on hold am in my eighties so missing doing my own gardening. Feel I am a burden on my family."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I was very nervous about the Reclast infusion, but I really like the idea of helping my bones. I prepared by drinking lots of water the day before and took a Tylenol that night. More water and another Tylenol the morning of, had the infusion, and felt fine. Figured the side effects would come that night, but they didn’t. Today, which is the day after, I have felt slightly headachy, no ambition, kind of hungover without the gastric problems. I don’t get it. Thrilled to be feeling so not horrible and I believe everyone who has another story here, but really, so far it’s ok. Hope it works. I can’t rate it now because it’s only been 32 hours."

"Rx taken December 2, 2022 1:30 pm. I am an 81 year old female post lumpectomy surgery and osteoporosis in reasonable good health. I practice Pilates and exercise 2x a week besides. After reading about this medication extensively, I heeded the warnings of other elderly women and super hydrated myself 3 days prior and 2 days afterwards. I took a Tylenol just before receiving my infusion. The next day, 12/3/22. 2:54 pm I noticed some low back pain ongoing and a little left hip pain. I carried a heavy purse to Walmart and noticed it while returning to our car. I took an extra strength Tylenol and lay on heating pad. At 5:00pm I had a tiny headache over my right eye. Right shoulder pain intermittently during dinner. The next day I felt slightly “off” but went about my day as usual. A month later, no noticeable side effects. In the past I don’t experience any side effects with medication, so am grateful that none have shown up so far. I don’t know yet if it’s helping."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I had my first infusion of Reclast 10 days ago and have experienced no side effects. I did drink a lot of water the day before and the day of the infusion. Of course, I have no idea yet if it has increased my bone density."

"I had my first infusion on 9/10/21 and was scared based on the reviews I read beforehand. I even got a second opinion from another rheumatologist as to whether or not there were other options for me and also spoke to my primary care physician before I decided to do it because she knew I had such bad heartburn from the weekly and monthly pills that I had to stop them. Since I wouldn’t commit to prolia 2x a year for the rest of my life I decided to try this knowing I could stop it at anytime if necessary. Bottom line was the infusion was simple and I didn’t have any side effects at all. I kind of held my breath for 3 days waiting for the axe to fall and nothing happened. I drank 50-60 oz of water for several days before, day of and 5 days after. I even took a Tylenol after the infusion and one before bed but probably didn’t need them either. Now I will continue taking my calcium and vitamin D and hope for the best in my next bone scan. I can’t rate benefits yet."

"I had the infusion for 6 years after having 8 fractures in my spine due to osteoporosis. I'm now free from osteoporosis. I still have osteopenia, which I was diagnosed with at the age of 45. I'm so happy and relieved the infusion worked for me."

"On the afternoon of Friday the 24th I received my first infusion, I have osteopenia and I am a cancer survivor. Start taking Acetaminophen, Gatorade and water. When I woke up on Saturday I had a lot of vertigo. The first 24 hours after the infusion, I only had a slight fever and warmth inside my body. After 24 hours, sporadic discomfort began in the bones such as the knees and arms, moderate tiredness and headache. On Sunday morning the strong symptoms of chills began, pain in the bones of the legs, spine, ribs and arms, I also had very real nightmares. The pains in the early hours of Sunday would go away and come back stronger, then I had a strong pain in the bones of my chest, as if they were opening my chest with their hands, for a few seconds, twice, a terrifying and very painful experience . The extreme tiredness continues, my eyes are a little red, very dry and I have very deep circles under my eyes. Next year I will not use this infusion again, it has been horrible pain.HORRIBLE"

"I hurt terribly the first few days after the infusion. The worst was my neck. My whole body hurt, but I couldn't turn my head much at all. 6 weeks later it is still a problem on and off. (I take 60 mg codeine in Tylenol for the pain. (T4's) Exhaustion, fatigue, & a reoccurrence of a severe depressive episode really scared me. It's been 5 or 6 weeks since my first infusion. After successful small breast tumor removal & chemo, I was feeling better. NO bone scan was done before starting this. I think one should have been done. I am not thinking clearly, needing to stop and think about what I am doing. Seriously thinking of asking to discontinue it. I am 62, unemployed with little support. This medication makes work impossible. No nausea. Diarrhea/constipation, yes. Twitching, a bit of insomnia, numb/tingling hand fingers and thumb. Hip pain. Shaky body and hands. GET A BONE SCAN BEFORE STARTING TREATMENT, otherwise, what is the point. Next appt in 6 weeks."

"I had this infusion 10 days ago, so can’t give a concise verdict of it. I nearly didn’t have it after reading all the bad reviews about the side effects. I have to say that the only problem I had was fatigue the day after the infusion, gradually reducing over the week."

"I had an Aclasta infusion a week ago. I was very concerned about side effects due to the large number of negative reviews. I haven't had any negative effects so far. It's too soon to measure skeletal outcomes."
