For Rheumatoid Arthritis "Been off of Xeljanz since June 5th. I am in so much pain going on Cimzia but insurance denied it but Dr working on getting it approved as I am in so much pain. I can honestly say this is the worst I have felt"

For Psoriatic Arthritis "I was diagnosed with psoriasis at 19 and started experiencing PsA symptoms at 32 (now 37). A few months ago my arthritis spread and flared horribly, and the stiffness in the morning became unbearable. I broke down and finally made an appointment to see a rheumatologist. The first medication he prescribed for me is Xeljanz, and after a month and a half I’ve probably seen an 80% improvement in my condition, with morning stiffness all but eliminated. I do still have some lingering issues with a few finger joints and the back of my feet, but hopefully those will get better with time. I haven’t noticed any side effects thus far into taking the medicine. Unfortunately, I wished it would have had a bigger impact on my psoriasis. Patches are still red but the scales do not grow near as thick. Once again, this could get better with time. Overall, I’ve been extremely happy with Xeljanz thus far and would highly recommend you give it a try for your PsA."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have been taking xeljanz for 7 weeks now. Not only it did not improve anything but each day it gets worse. I was happy to go to sleep before because that was the only time, I did not have much pain. Now, when I sleep, I am in pain and for a week or so now, I wake up with a horrible pain in my leg and I take 2 Tylenol and stay awake in bed till early morning when I can sleep a little. I am going to write to my rheumatologist to tell her that I think it's insane to keep taking this medicine that makes my pain worse, no doubt about it. I am sorry I did not do it before."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "62 years old and have had RA for 22 months. Tried methotrexate pills and then injections. Next, I tried Humira injection with limited relief. Switched to Xeljanz XR and found immediate relief. I have had no known side effects except some skin rash and the rash might not be associated with Xeljanz. I am able to function in life again."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have psoriatic arthritis and methotrexate, suphazalazine, anti inflammatory drugs, cimzia, Cosentyx all worked a little, but only took the edge off in terms of pain. I have been on and off Xeljanz (because of covid) for over 18 months. Initial reaction was good and very quick compared to other meds, a few days for results. I have recently suffered with high blood pressure for the first time, white spots/boils on my torso and legs, extreme bloating and rectal bleeding (led to an emergency colonoscopy), and general anxiety which led to a burst blood vessel in my eye. I explained all of this to my long standing and trusted Rheumy and he didn't flag any of these as linked with Xeljanz. However, I decided to stop my meds. Within a few weeks my blood pressure has returned to normal levels, my spots and boils have all cleared, I have no anxiety, chest pains have stopped and my gut has returned to normal. I can't say for sure they're all linked but I certainly won't be taking it again."

For Ulcerative Colitis "I have Ulcerative Colitis and started Xeljanz last February for the bad joint pain that often accompanies Colitis. It worked almost instantly and my joints felt great. Unfortunately I developed 6 severe infections in under 4 months so I had to stop the Xeljanz. My joint pain is back so today my Rheumatologist started me back on Xeljanz at a half dosage. I was off it for 6 weeks and did not get one new infection."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I was diagnosed 15 years ago with seropositive RA. I have literally been on every medication and combo. A few years ago I was given Xeljanz and it was pure bliss for 6 months. I felt like a normal person and very quickly! After about 6 months it suddenly lost its effect and I went back to trying new medications. Three years later and out of options I asked to go back on Xeljanz to see if enough time had passed that maybe I could get some relief for even a short period. I began taking Xeljanz XR this time and again within a week my pain and inflammation was lessening greatly. I couldn’t write more than a sentence and now I have zero struggle. I couldn’t use my right wrist and now I can use it completely. It is the 6 month mark this month and I am holding my breath that I continue on this track of amazingness. I have had no side effects, no illnesses and feel fantastic. (43 years old)"

For Ulcerative Colitis "I have been taking Xeljanz for UC for around 2 years now, nothing was working except for the prednisone, and that was killing me. This is the only drug I have taken that has worked. I do have some side effects but this is a miracle for me. 10 mg a day."

For Ulcerative Colitis "Xeljanz was a miracle drug for me. 31 years old and I had UC for about 2 years and had tried numerous biologics with no success. The only thing that would put me into remission was high dosage steroids which I had been on for 2 years and had caused adrenal insufficiency for me. I was in the process of consulting with a gastro surgeon to have a J-pouch placed when my GI had me try Xeljanz and after about 6 weeks I went into complete remission. I take 10mg twice daily and have had 0 side effects after 8 months. This drug gave me my life back ."

For Ulcerative Colitis "Pre-medication condition: Ulcerative colitis always active at rectal level. No way to get rid of it; I tried Vedolizumab, Infliximab and Azathioprine and also combined therapies. With Xeljanz: I started Xeljanz one month ago and UC now is completely gone. I am surprised because I never completely reached mucosal healing without corticosteroids. Actually I haven’t experienced any side effect, but we will continue to monitor my condition"

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I was hesitant to try Xeljanz. The reviews scared me to death. I decided to give it a try, and I’m glad I did. I’ve had a few sinus infections in the last year, but I stopped the Xeljanz for ten days, and antibiotics cleared it right up. I’ve had none of the terrible side effects I read about, and it’s been over a year now. My RA is close to remission. I’m thankful for this drug, and hopefully with careful monitoring, I will continue to do well on it."

For Psoriatic Arthritis "I took ONE dose of this medication and within 1 hour both of my arms went completely numb. Numbness and tingling started in my lips and jaw. The next two nights I woke up in the night with complete numbness again in my arms which took 30 minutes to return to tingling. Numbness and tingling have continued through this whole week, in my feet and ankles, and lips and arms, even though I stopped taking it after the one disaster dose. Headaches and eye inflammation started 3 days after stopping use of this drug. I hope I can be symptom free soon, and without lasting neurological effects. This was (and still is) an utterly frightening experience. I wouldn't recommend this drug to anyone."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have been taking Xeljanz for 4 months now. I have experienced less joint pain & swelling in some joints but increased significantly in other joints to the point of crying. EXTREME fatigue, dizziness, nausea and a general unwell sick feeling. I was previously on other biologics and then just on prednisone. I would much rather feel the way I felt before taking the Xeljanz. The way I feel on this drug is worse than being on nothing."

For Ulcerative Colitis "I’ve been taking Xeljanz for just over a year. I’ve been through all the other biologic meds since I was diagnosed 12 years ago. Stelara was the last one I tried and it didn’t work AT ALL. My fecal calprotecten was over 8,000 when I started Xeljanz and after 3 months it was down to 22, which I think is the best it’s ever been. So Xeljanz is definitely working. The downside to that are the side effects. It started with fatigue and headaches for the first month or so, then progressed to stomach pain, burning, loss of appetite, nausea and diarrhea. I thought maybe it wasn’t working and I was flaring again, but my calprotecten was even lower than before. I’ve also developed high cholesterol and high blood pressure (never had that before in my life). It’s making me feel absolutely horrible, I have all the flare symptoms without the flare! Now I have to decide if I should keep taking it or not, I don’t have many options left :("

For Psoriatic Arthritis "I was on this medication for a year. It works, it kept my pain down and inflammation markers looked good. I just got off the medication because my liver enzymes were going up and I have gained a lot of weight since taking it other than that no other side effects like a lot of people on here have had"

For Ulcerative Colitis "Using Xeljanz for UC 10 mg 2x a day about 4 months. Good results right away within days. Fatigue in the beginning slowly getting better. Weight gain, but not sure if I can blame the drug. Some nausea in the morning. I now know what foods to avoid. Four months in and no real bad side affects"

"My son has an autoimmune disease that affected his thyroid, skin (severe blistering eczema) all over his body, dark circles under his eyes and alopecia totalis (meaning the worst form where when it is active, he looses all body hair, eyebrows, lashes and scalp hair.) After being on methotrexate at different dosages, and other medication combined with prednisone - we switched to Xeljanz and thank goodness we did....his skin has improved dramatically and no blisters, his dark circles beneath his eyes are much lighter and almost gone, he feels better AND BONUS - his body hair/facial hair/scalp hair is FINALLY coming in!!! He has been on the medication for almost two months now and I couldn’t be happier."

For Psoriatic Arthritis "I was put on this medication 2 months ago. I wasn't sure at first how much it helped for my arthritis (psoriatic) at first because I was put on prednisone. Now I'm off the prednisone and my joints hurt so bad. My skin psoriasis is slowly getting better but my fingers have gone back to hurting, hips, knees, back. It gives me daily headaches. It helps me more than the humira and enbrel but I'm still experiencing pain and swelling."

For Psoriatic Arthritis "On my 5th week and my pain is gone however I had a herpes flare at 4 weeks and came back a week later. I just realized today that it might be causing severe anxiety and my husband noticed this because I’m acting paranoid and obsessive. So scary. I have the same problem with prednisone and it nearly drove me to suicide. My doctor should have known better."

For Psoriatic Arthritis "I was not optimistic about Xeljanz but it has worked very well. Five years on Enbrel and it was great. Two injections of Humira and was horrible. So I have to say it's not that bad it really isn't great"

For Psoriatic Arthritis "I was on Xeljanz XL for about 7 months. It seemed to be doing a decent job with my PsA joint pain and fatigue. After about 3 months I noticed a shortness of breath that was getting worst. We presumed heart blockage, but cath showed no blockage. Turned out Pulmonary Embolism with Xeljanz likely culprit. Wish I had checked PE as cause first. Lots of time and $ looking at heart. I know this drug can work, it just depends on your body and it's possible reactions."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "Have been on Xeljanz for a year, and now it’s not as effective. Got a blood clot in my leg. My doctor says it's not from Xeljanz and that there’s no way of knowing. This drug has an interaction with aspirin, so if you did get a blood clot, taking aspirin wouldn’t be optimal. I told my doctor that I want to switch medications to avoid long-term problems that may develop with this drug. If you take a look at all the different medications prescribed for rheumatoid arthritis, you will see how differently they work. I am trying to figure out what to target. These drugs all work differently. Methotrexate (Mtx) was the most effective for me, but it meant one to two days in bed due to nausea. You will notice that as you continue taking it over time, you feel sicker than the week before. However, I had absolutely no pain with this drug (Mtx). I think maybe switching drugs yearly may prevent side effects."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have had rheumatoid arthritis for 42 years and am 72 now. Before I was put on the drug Methotextrate I would ask God not to let me wake up. Pain killers did no good the pain was so severe. I have been on Xeljanz for a number of years now and I can cope with my arthritis. I have a number of other problems now taking around 17 tablets a day. Xeljanz doesn't seem to have interfered with any of them and lets me enjoy life."

For Psoriatic Arthritis "I've been on remicade for 15 years and from day one it has produced excellent results. Hate the two hours of sitting but it cleared up 100% of my psoriasis. However my insurance company cut off the rheumatologists I had for 13 years and I had to get a referall to another dr. Problem was it took 7 months to get into the new doctor to get back on remicade. I begged my old dr. to help me and he got me on Xeljanx. But Xeljanz did not work. I was covered with plaques everywhere like I was 20 years ago. I just think the delivery system is everything with our disease. A pill takes time to take effect which an infusion gets right to the problem quickly. I am back on Remicade and completely clear skin with no side effects. I love Remicade but I'm worried that the preexisting condition part of ACA will be shot down in court and then in supreme court. But remicade is great and they have a program that makes it reasonable and literally pays off my deductibles."
