"I've been under Spiro 100mg daily for 5 months for secondary hirsutism (I have congenital adrenal hyperplasia). I'm taking it combined with birth control and dexamethasone.... I can say that at the beginning the only thing I could notice was lightheaded, stomach ache and peeing a lot! My stomach was acting up for 2 months, took a while until a figure out how to effective get rid of the lightheaded sensation and my body "adapts" to the pee issue... I tried to change medication time and now at morning doses works out ok. It took 3 months until I notice my unwanted hair geting "thinner" and slowing growing. I still hairy af but I saw some improvements. Going into my 6 month taking spiro and now the pharmacy has changed the brand. I feel it less effective"

"I have PCOS with all the classic symptoms. I see spiro as the a awful drug, the side effects are too much. When I was taking it along with other b/c pills, it helped lower my testosterone level and hair growth but the excessive peeing (will the time), excessive fatigue and mood swings it gave me was too much. I had to stop it. And all the symptoms came right back, even the acne it cured. I feel sad because it works but I'm so scared of going back to it even though I have a reduced dosage now, I still haven't talked myself into taking the pills again. Maybe it effects me so bad because I'm African. May it doesn't suit Africans. I wish it would just work for me without all the side effects."

"I suffer of hirsutism for while now, more in my face area. I had take Spironolactone 50mg about 2 years ago and didn't see any change. I was constantly having headaches and I stop taking them for a while. A few month ago my Dermatology prescribed Spironolactone 100mg. This time I'm using a different pharmacy and the pills have a minty taste and smell compared to the one from my previous pharmacy 2 years ago. I decided to stop taking them again this time because I'm staring to get headaches again and my hair is thinner than before, causing my hair to break easily. So now that I stop taking Spironolactone I'm losing my hair like CRAZY. I don't now why this is happening and if it will stop eventually. Just beware of this side effects."

"I was taking this for excess facial hair oily skin and acne. It mostly cleared my acne and facial hair in conjunction with laser at 50 mgs a day. Fast forward almost 2 years I began feeling not well. Dehydrated. Sluggish. Fatigue. Absolutely no sex drive. My underarm hair I noticed I hadn’t shaved it all summer. I continued to be unwell but not put 2 and 2 together. Horrible breast pain all month not just pre menstrual. Mood swings from hell. No muscle looking like marshmallow woman. Could not lose weight no matter what. I finally said enough is enough and went to the dr. My testosterone was zero! They advised me to stop the meeting come back in 4 weeks to retest. Testosterone still 0! Now I have to see an endocrinologist if you are unaware a woman’s body needs some amount of testosterone. Symptoms of low testosterone are Lack of libido, loss of muscle, weight gain, extreme fatigue. 7 months no sex ruined relationship. Save yourself the trouble. Get laser. It worked for me."

"Started using Spironolactone on 1st Jan 2023. It's been 3 months today. I have noted some changes, especially on my chest and belly hairs that have really reduced and are barely visible, my facial skin has also become very smooth with no single break out, My only concern is My chin hairs still haven't changed, I have to pluck them every 2 days and it really affects my esteem. I'm confused if I should continue with the medication or stop, was purely taking it to sort my chin hair specifically."

"I’ve been taking this drug for a year and a half. I started at 50mg and slowly increased to 150mg over time. I haven’t noticed much difference with my facial hair other than not having to pluck every day but the hair on my head seems to have gotten thinner. On the positive side, I have less acne and have lost 80 lbs. My breast size is the same but I’m much curvier. I get dizzy sometimes and feel more thirsty but otherwise ok."

"I was prescribed spironolactone by a really good endocrinologist for my hirsutism. I experience hirsutism only on my chest and stomach pretty bad. I did not notice the medication helping in any way. In fact I developed acne and my doctor explained it as purging. I kept taking it in hopes it would work. I never had acne before in my life btw. I was taking it for 5 months until I cut off the doctor and said I can't take it anymore. I am now 3 months off the pill and my acne is increasingly getting worse. Now I am left with 2 problems. I wish I never started it."

"I'm healthy, 54 y.o. woman who started taking bioidentical hormone replacement therapy 5 years ago. After adjusting my dosages on the compounded medication a few times, I got to a comfortable place but I have excess whisker growth under (thankfully) my chin. Easy to pluck or shave, but it's every other day. My new hormone Dr put me on Spironolactone to block the testosterone portion of my medication from causing this issue at the skin-level. Recently having had a hemmorhoidectomy, and recovering well, I started back taking this (had stopped before my first 90 day trial because it dehydrates, and I needed all the hydration I could muster to prepare and recover). Once starting back for a full two weeks, I noticed my stools were harder to pass, once even having stayed in the office bathroom 45 minutes because the harder, tarry stool would not pass, and once it did, relief! But then internal hemmorhoids acted up, and I'm back to recovery mode again. Not a good place to be. Be Aware!"

"I've been on spironolactone for many, many years, 100mg. I find it doesn't work anymore at diminishing my facial hair."
