"I have to say I am greatly disappointed that this medicine was taken off the market. I obsessed about food all the time. I ate all the time and I ate extremely large portions. I took this for two months up until it was discontinued. I could not believe it. I lost 20 pounds. I did not exercise once. Surprisingly, I thought about food much less. I oddly craved healthier foods, I ate smaller portions and would be satisfied with the amount. And I lost 20 pounds without even thinking about it. I couldn't believe how much free time I had when I was not thinking about food. I wish that it wasn't taken off the market due to cardiac issues. I mean come on, even cardiac medicines can cause cardiac issues. How come those aren't take off the market?"

"I really don't understand why Meridia was discontinued. It really worked very well for me in 2008. I did heart stress testing before using it to be safe. I went once a month to the doctor to check on my progress & how I was feeling. It really took away my constant hunger. I lost 35-40 pounds over the course of about five months. I felt fantastic. Kept the weight off for 3 years, and the appetite remained decreased for that time. Didn't make me feel 'speedy' at all. I had increased energy but no nervousness. The energy helped with workouts & positivity. I think they really should bring this pill back because it really does work when carefully prescribed and monitored. The FDA should reconsider and do some new studies. New alternatives don't compare."

"Loved this diet pill! No side effects and it worked. I lost 20 lbs in one month. Very upset it's off the market. I only used it that one time, but if ever needed to lose weight again I would want to use it again!"

"After my separation from my now ex-husband, I was at the highest weight I'd ever been. Almost 200 lbs. I asked my doctor about this medicine. He told me the risks, we did the test and went for monthly blood pressure checks to make sure I wasn't having any side effects. I loved this medication. In total, I started at a size 22 and went down to a 9, I won't get on a scale, so I don't know the weight difference. I just knew I hadn't changed anything in my day-to-day activities, but kept losing the weight anyway. I'd love to have this medicine back in my medicine cabinet. I'm a short female, only 4'11'', so I've suffered with my weight my whole life, but this medication finally helped it not be an issue."

"I'm devastated to learn that Meridia has been taken off the market. It is the only thing that has worked for me in terms of weight loss. I can walk, eat healthy all day, but Meridia is what gave me portion control. It turned the cravings off. I am so sad. I was just going to get another prescription after being off it for 2 years. In the last 2 years, I've tried losing weight without Meridia and have been very unsuccessful. Now, I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm about 90 lbs overweight and each time I was on Meridia, I lost about 40 lbs in 2 months. Both times, Meridia had given me the energy to exercise. As I said before, I'm devastated. I was really looking forward to getting on Meridia to jump-start this weight loss and now I don't know what to do."

"I started taking Meridia in December 2007 weighing 226 lbs to begin. The first month I lost 20 lbs. I felt great. I then went on to lose 71 more pounds for a total of 91 pounds. People do not even know it's me. I felt great on it. But I will say a good diet of fruit, veggies, and protein plus lots and lots of exercise are the key. Meridia alone will not do it. I took up running, walking, group kickboxing, and step aerobics. I feel wonderful. I am at my goal, and life is great. I am currently not on Meridia anymore. I stopped after 7 months. Lost the rest with willpower. You MUST EXERCISE."

"I loved taking this medication, and it was working. I was lucky and had minimal side effects. Judging from the newer medications and side effects that come with them, it really makes no sense why Meridia was taken off the market."

"Meridia is amazing! I have tried EVERY diet you can think of - Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem (twice), SlimFast, Atkins, Alli, apple cider vinegar, and regular calorie reduction. None of these diets has ever resulted in a loss of more than 3-4 pounds. Although I had some issues regarding insurance coverage, I was able to get Meridia at the end of July and began August 1st. I have been on Meridia now for almost 2 months, and as of yesterday, I have lost exactly 20 pounds! I feel so relieved to finally do something that actually works. My appetite has decreased dramatically - I can eat a portion of my meal and be satisfied and turn down sweets with ease. I would recommend it to EVERYONE!"

"I've been taking Meridia off and on for several months, and I have to say I'm very pleased. Even though it is pricey, it works! Some of my side effects were stomach pain (if I overate at one sitting), some dry mouth, and heartburn. Nothing severe to the point where I would want to stop taking Meridia. I haven't gained any of the weight that I have lost. When I first started taking Meridia, I was 210 lbs. I was able to lose 15 lbs and not gain it back after stopping for about 6 months. Now I have started taking Meridia again for about one month, and I will continue to do so until I reach 170 lbs. I see my doctor once a month for my refills and lab work."

"I started to take Meridia 2 weeks before Christmas 2008. During my first two weeks, I lost 16.5 lbs. The following two weeks, I lost another 2 lbs. I will return to my doctor this week to see how much more I have lost. I have gone from a size 16 to a size 12 in less than 2 months. I feel wonderful, my children have commented on how much energy I now have. However, exercise and proper diet are the key, and you need to continue doing so even once you are off. It feels wonderful, I can now wear a bathing suit once again. I started at 174 lbs and am now at 151 lbs. I recommend this to anyone who is serious about getting into shape and becoming healthy again."

"I am so thankful my doctor prescribed me Meridia. After giving birth at 37 years old, I packed on 65 extra pounds that, even with diet and exercise, would not come back off. I am happy to say I have lost 60 lbs with Meridia. As for the debate on whether it is safe, that falls on your doctor. Obviously, if you have heart conditions already, you should not take this product. Your doctor should know if you're able to take this medication. I am no longer on Meridia and haven't gained any weight back either. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I feel so much healthier now."

"I have been taking Meridia for one week now, and I feel so much better already. What a difference this medicine has made. It is worth every penny to get my life back. I have already cut out sweets and have reduced my daily caloric intake with ease. Nothing has worked for me in the past, but I am feeling very confident about Meridia. I can't wait until my family sees the new me at the holidays!"

"Before I go into this product, it should be noted, normally I am against any weight loss medicine. However, after being on a restricted calorie diet and exercise regime with no results over a three-month period, my doctor and I decided to try this medicine in combination with what I am doing already. So far, this is day 4 of using Meridia and my weight has dropped 3.6 lbs, with mild side effects being anxiousness. The first day I felt spacy, but that subsided, and now I have ZERO appetite. I will post again later this month, but as of right now, I am thrilled at the results. This medicine is pricey, but to me, was worth every penny."

"When I first began my diet, my weight was over 320 lbs. I'm not sure how far over 320 lbs I was exactly (the scale we owned only went that high, anything above that gave 'E' for error). I began the diet using the Weight Watchers program, eating the healthy foods helped me begin the weight loss process, but more importantly, got my blood pressure under control. Once my blood pressure was in a fair range, my doctor prescribed Meridia, and I've found it to be a great help. I currently weigh 240 lbs."

"I went in for a consultation with a plastic surgeon to remove excess weight. I am middle-aged and have never had a problem losing weight until I reached 40+. The doctor looked at me and told me I didn't need liposuction, what I needed was to lose weight. I explained I've tried very hard with no results. The doctor then prescribed Meridia to me. I have had great results. I've lost approximately 15 pounds. I have had very little side effects, an occasional restless night."

"I started taking Meridia about 2-3 weeks ago and haven't lost a pound. In fact, it actually has been doing the opposite of what it is supposed to do. It doesn't really control my appetite and actually makes me crave lots of sweets. "

"I started taking 10 mg of Meridia 9 days ago. So far, I have lost 6 pounds. As for side effects, honestly, I really can't say that I can even tell that I am taking the pill. The only thing that comes to mind is one night I had a slightly strange taste in my mouth and was more thirsty than normal. This pill really works. I feel more motivated to work out and eat healthy, the $120 price tag may have something to do with that too. At dinner, halfway through my salad I'm full, I've honestly had no problem resisting the temptations of Starbucks mochas and the large bowl of mini candy bars at work. Something that would have been basically unheard of before. So, 6 lbs down, 35ish more to go. Wish me luck!"

"I commented before - 9 days in, and I had lost 6 lbs. Just went today for my 1-month doctor's visit to see my progress. I have lost 14.7 lbs, and my already normal blood pressure actually dropped into an even healthier number! Still taking 10 mg daily and still no side effects other than I'm a bit more thirsty and my mouth has a mildly strange taste sometimes. So, all good news! I am starting to feel excited about the way I look and feel again. 1st time in a few years. Let's hope it continues on this path. My doctor was thrilled with my results!"

"I decided to start taking sibutramine to lose weight that I had gained last year. I chose this because you can use it long-term, unlike the stimulants. When I first started it I barely noticed any effects (15mg). My weight was 240lbs starting. Then, about a week in I started to notice a major reduction in appetite and was doing quite well. I was able to get down to 231lbs in 1.5 weeks. Sadly this weight loss came with major dysphoric side-effects, such as tremors, anxiety, muscle twitch, insomnia, mood swings, akathesia, etc. It felt like I was poisoned/going crazy. Therefore, I had to stop it. I wish I could have continued as the weight loss was going great. Bad reactions stopped after discontinuing the sibutramine."

"I have been on Meridia for one year under my doctor's supervision. During that time, I have lost 108 pounds. My doctor has been able to gradually take me off of all 3 blood pressure prescriptions, simvastatin, and metformin. It has been very effective in helping me control my appetite and thus lose weight. I have increased energy, sex drive, and generally a much better disposition and outlook on life. It has been great for me. I have another 12 pounds to lose to reach my goal weight of 174. Once that is achieved, he intends to keep me on Meridia for another 6 months to enable my body to achieve the correct amount of leptin production necessary to maintain my new weight and prevent me from regaining the 120 lbs I will have lost."

"YOU MUST BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE AND DO YOUR RESEARCH about Meridia AND the current drugs you are taking! I was overweight, diabetic, with high blood pressure and high liver enzymes. My doctor thought more pills and/or shots or increasing dosages was the answer to everything. I was on 11 different medicines and had no energy and just wanted to sleep all the time. Doctor prescribed Meridia, nothing happened. 4 weeks later, she increased the dose, no change. So I was complaining about not losing any weight and someone said "maybe there's a drug interaction with something you're already taking". I never even considered that. Went online and gee-whiz and bang it wasn't just the Meridia, there were several interactions going on! DON'T DO THIS WITHOUT CONSULTING YOUR DOCTOR! I went off all the medicines and started from scratch. Began with 2 of the diabetic and 1 blood pressure medicine. My appetite dropped immediately. Took sugar and blood pressure readings every 4 hours for a week. My sugar and blood pressure stayed normal. So I added the Meridia. I ate only half servings of whatever I wanted other than sweets. MY GOAL WAS NOT TO DIET BUT TO LEARN A NEW EATING BEHAVIOR. My weight was 199.5lbs and now 6 weeks later I've lost 16 pounds (2-3 pounds a week). Had to reduce the dose of my diabetic medicines two times. (I'm totally off the insulin). Now I only take the 2 diabetic and 1 blood pressure medicine and the Meridia (15mg) daily. I feel good and have normal energy. I have very mild nausea every day and get massive heartburn if I eat to many carbohydrates. The cost is $196.00 a month. But this is well worth it to get my weight stable and improve my health."

"I started takeing Meridia in November of 2008. When I started I was 220 lbs. I now weigh 179lbs. I have arthritis in both knees and it's hard to exercise but with the extra weight off I find I can go for walks now. I have had one good side effect with Meridia that is not on the list. I used to suffer from migraines. I was having at least 4 a month. Since I started taking Meridia my migraines have gone down to 1 every other month. Told my doctor and she was shocked, and happy for me."

"I tried this drug out a year ago. Very expensive and worked wonderful in controlling my cravings and appetite but then the side effects started. I had horrible headaches. This is not a symptom I could deal with so I had to give it up. Hopefully it won't cause headaches for many people, but if it does, I'm so sorry because they truly hurt."
