Zantac (ranitidine) for GERD "Stopped Nexium and Dr prescribed 150 mg generic Zantac (Ranitidine) twice daily. About 14 hours from the first dose the GERD was back in full force. At 3AM I resorted to 20 mg of Nexium and another 20 mg an hour later. Worst night in many years. Not sure if it takes time for this medicine to build up in my system but I can't suffer from GERD and it did not work the first day."

Zantac (ranitidine) for Indigestion "I am one year post RNY gastric bypass. I have had severe stomach pain for the last week. My doctor almost hospitalized me due to this pain. He decided to have me take ranitidine 150 mg. I had this pain for nearly a week, about 45 minutes after the first dose, my severe pain was gone. Omeprazole was prescribed by my surgeon and it didn't help. The ranitidine is a life saver."

For GERD "I have had severe pain in my ears and behind left eye for 10 + yrs now. I've seen my family Dr and 2 ear specialists. Nothing can be explained or found wrong. In 2016, I was diagnosed with GERD. The med made me sicker. Then was told to rake ranitidine. At first it was hard , one pill every 12 hrs. So careful of food intake day and night. Then after 6 months of ranitidine , I noticed I haven't had any ear pain or eye pain. I now take ranitidine about every 18 hrs and notice the ear and eye pain creeping up. Though ranitidine does help immensely, it's the ear pain or lack of that ranitidine has cured. Who knew ****"

For Erosive Esophagitis "For years I have suffered with burning acid attacks that are severely painful. When I take this medication, all of my symptoms are quickly eradicated. It also works well as a preventative measure. Ratinidine is not only the most effective medication when it comes to mediating my pain/symptoms, but it is in fact the most consistently reliable and effective drug I have ever taken."

For Stomach Ulcer "I found this to be very good. I was put on omeprazole first but that caused really bad IBS, so my doctor changed to this one and no problems so far. I am due to come off them so will update with my progress then"

For Hiatal Hernia "This medication works well for me, if I take the prescription strength twice a day, everyday. Unlike many drugs in the same class, Zantac provides relief within thirty minutes to an hour. This, thus far, has worked for me. Please consult your medical provider for a treatment designed for you."

For GERD "300 MG helped a lot but after a few months, it just didn't seem like my GERD was going away and I was still uncomfortable though not in horrible pain so I got switched to a PPI, Protonix to be exact. At the time Protonix was not generic & expensive so I tried to stick with Rantidine but it just wasn't enough so I stuck with Protonix longterm for about 10 years and was happy until I found out about the longterm side effects. For the last 2 years I've been taking "Drug Holidays" from Prontonix to let my body absorb vitamins that require stomach acid and taking Rantidine again for a few days but it's just not enough to go on longterm. I believe Rantidine blocks about 30% of stomach acid (though I've read it's higher) while PPI's go over 90% so it IS quite a bit difference. Anyway, if you have mild GERD, and Rantidine can fix you, stick to it because it's safer than PPIs. If you have a mild-severe case like me, do everything you can to keep the cancer away."

For GERD "I have had an issue with GERD every night. I would lose sleep from the constant stomach pains and nausea. I would have to make myself vomit to feel even some relief. I finally got some help from my doctor and a little pill and now I feel AWESOME! It may be a little hard to swallow at first, but I have never felt better!"

For GERD "My son was prescribed this for reflux about 4 years ago. After about 6 months he started getting a pimply rash, here and there. He was almost 13 so I thought it was acne. Then it got worse, until it was almost all over. I research everything, so I did, looking for the answer. Nothing worked (changing to hypoallergenic laundry soap and bath soap, checking anything changed recently). I took him to a dermatologist who tried many different creams, ointments, lotions, etc, which didn't work. So I went back to researching, but further back in the timeline, and came across ranitidine. I found 1 persons case- reported by a Dr- who had gotten a rash. It went away when the medication was stopped. So we stopped it. It took a few weeks but then slowly a few spots disappeared, then more. It took months to totally clear up.The dermatologist never checked side effects to the meds. Sometimes we have to be our own doctor. I didn't think about the ranitidine because the rash took so long to show."

Zantac (ranitidine) for Indigestion "What a despicable amount of packaging for such a tiny bottle. Your brand is successful enough to not to need such a waste of earth’s resources to get the customer to notice it on the shelf when we are already looking for it. Please think of the future of our planet."

For GERD "I have had gastritis for a couple years now and my doctor prescribed this for me just to see if it would help me with all the acid in my stomach but it actually did the quite opposite. It made my stomach burn really bad! I tried it a couple more times thinking I just needed to get used to it but it burned more each time. Everyone reacts differently, but I found that promethazine an metoclopramide worked best!"

For Indigestion "I have generalized anxiety disorder but panic attacks are pretty rare (maybe once per week). However, the three times I took zantac for indigestion I experienced a panic attack. I wonder whether there's a connection as others have reported. This needs to be studied."

For GERD "I have suffered from GERD for many years. There is not a OTC or RX pill, capsule or liquid that I haven't tried & not a single one one them helped with my GERD. Zantac 150mg once daily was what helped me be free to enjoy food again. I took it for years & now I can't get it & have wasted hundreds of $$ trying to find something comparable in relief & there is nothing."

For Eczema "Rash was very, very small bumps, some slightly visible but more so you could feel them more than see them. Itching is awful, it feels like ants crawling under my skin. This was after using this medication for a week. I had never used it before. It seemed to work somewhat but just taking it for a week wasn't really long enough to give a true report concerning how effective it was."

Zantac (ranitidine) for Pathological Hypersecretory Conditions "I wake with a squeezing sensation that develops into nausea every morning around 4:30. I get up take a half a 150, Zantac and half an anti motion sickness pill and have a large mug of tea with milk. I lie there awake for nearly 2 hours until I fall back to sleep. When I wake again around 8:00 Inhave a bowl, 6, of Frosted Mini Wheats and some half and half. I try to go back to sleep again and wake at varying times or I don't get back to sleep at all. The pain and nausea start up again early afternoon so I take the other half a Zantac. I am in bed off and on til suppertime. Sometimes I have to take another half and a half anti-motion sickness pill in the evening. This is my usual day."

"My doctor gave me Ranitidine 150mg to help with allergic reactions which I had because of histamine intolerance. It is histamine blocker in the stomach. These tablets helped with reactions, unfortunately side effects were too many for me. I just had them for 5 days. But I got headaches, fast heart rate, last day very dizzy, scary side effects. So I stopped them now and never will take one again. If there were no side affects, they would work for me fine."

Zantac (ranitidine) for Stomach Ulcer "This drug probably won't work on it's own. I was taking 2 of these a day because the ER doctor prescribed it. It seemed to be working because it relieved the pain. But my poop still looked weird. When more blood came I added the prescription dose of prilosec [40 mgs/day] and my poop was brown again. (I also added probiotics.)"

"I had a gastric sleeve in 2016 and every now and then, I get a really particular, painful stomach ache in my upper stomach. It's debilitating and extremely painful, and Zantac was the ONLY drug that would immediately stop this stomach ache. Since it was taken off the market, I have been suffering. Apparently, it was removed because it COULD cause cancer (like a million other things) if exposed to high heat. What a joke! Put a warning on the box to keep it refrigerated! I constantly check to see if it's coming back. Zantac NEEDS to come back, even if it's prescription only. I'd be willing to pay double, triple to get hold of it."

For Indigestion "I have had diarrhea, most days for over twenty years - severe bloating - am obese despite eating 500 calories on average - I do not over eat. I very very very rarely eat a large plate of food - I have never eaten 3 meals a day - never added sugar - do not have puddings - do not have fast food etc. I eat salad - no dressing. A doctor said I had IBS and gave me Ranitidene - I took it for about a month - but stopped - due to very severe intense pain under right ribcage. VERY SCARY!"

For Stomach Ulcer "I used ranitidine since 2000 and the acid stomach burns continued. I started using Equaline ranitidine tablets USP 150 around May 1, 2013 and I don't have the acid stomach burn anymore. I don't even have to use Equaline everyday like I did the other ranitidine. Surprisingly, I think that Equaline may cure my stomach acid burns for good."

Zantac (ranitidine) for GERD "Am a young patient with GERD, had it since I was 15, and now I'm 20. This medicine also always makes me vomit, a few hours from taking it. The sensation can't be held back, it just forces you to vomit, even in the middle of the night when you wanted overnight relief. I was told to get GERD-relieving meds over the counter until doctor prescribed Famotidine and it works wonders!"
