For Nightmares "I started this as a suggestion from my pharmacist since my psych NP was not finding ANYTHING to work for my childhood nightmares. Thank God for that angel pharmacist and Thank God for this medication. Not one nightmare to feel weird about the whole next day and ruin my day! I have taken now for about a month. Yesterday I tested it out and skipped a dose to see what would happen and sure enough a nightmare. I hope they never stop making this medication. I have had zero side effects! I am so thrilled with this medicine and not sure why I had never heard of it before or why out of all of the doctors I have seen they have not suggested it? I am only on 1 mg which is what the lowest dose? It WORKS! Save yourself the trauma and try it :)"

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I started having graphic, vivid nightmares and wasn't able to tell the difference between being awake and asleep. The doctor told me I had PTSD and gave me Prazosin. I was taking 1mg. I'm pretty drug sensitive so I could barely move or get up for hours after waking up the next day BUT it immediately stopped my nightmares. Now when I do have nightmares I don't react to them and I take .5mg as needed when I am feeling anxious. I get a little weak for a few hours but it's manageable. Side effects are totally worth it to not have to live through being terrorized every night not even knowing when I'm awake or alseep."

For Nightmares "I experienced loud, shouting nightmares almost every night before I started Prazosin, which COMPLETELY stopped ALL my nightmares IMMEDIATELY. It worked immediately, the very first night, and every night thereafter. On the very rare occaisons when I have experienced another nightmare after I started taking, these were ALWAYS nights when I forgot to take the Prazosin."

For Nightmares "Taken Prazosin two days. Started on 1mg then second night 2mg, taken 1hour before bed. Could not sleep but wakeful for two hours. Dreaming started immediately upon sleep, more vivid than what I had been having nightmares and strange dreams all night long till I got up. My nightmares are worse on the medicine Prazosin. I hoping it would completely stop them. I hope it hasn't caused my nightmares to be permanently worse."

For Nightmares "I started taking prazosin while going through abuse and separation. I had terrible nightmares. It helped, but now I have unsettling dreams and talk, cry and yell during my sleep. They are so vivid that I am physically acting them out during sleep and this wakes me feeling disoriented. I've woken due to some as well, so shaken I had to sleep with the light on. (seeing as well as feeling things touching me) I take them each night and it doesn't help me fall asleep. I also take 10 mg of diazepam with it."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I have suffered from traumatic PTSD nightmares, or just generally depressing and sad dreams for over 8 years. I was self-medicating with marijuana for a very long time because it removed all dream recall for me, but my quality of sleep was not good. Immediately upon the first night of taking this (1mg) it was an immediate improvement of no nightmares. I have since gone to 5mg due to a few nights of bad dreams at the 1mg dose and it being more vivid than ever before. But since increasing the dose, no nightmares regularly. Maybe one every so often but the difference in my sleep and sleep quality cannot be overstated. If you suffer from any type of nightmarish sleep or bad dreams, PLEASE ask your doctor about this medication as it may give you your life back. I do feel faint and dizzy at times if I get up at night to use the restroom, but I already have low blood pressure as it is. But I don’t care - it’s a trade off I will make."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I have had years of sleep disturbance's due to PTSD, from having to live in high anxiety and violent situations. So my Dr. prescribed Prazosin, and right away I was sleeping at least 8 hours a night without waking or nightmares. I am not having any side affects that I am aware of and am very glad to be taking it."

For Nightmares "I'm 18 and I have Post traumatic stress disorder along with major clinical depression and anxiety. I was treated in a ward and they put me on this to help me with my nightmares. I've had nightmares for a long time. This help a little. I used to have them every night but now I have them about twice a week maybe 3 times but it's much better than every night."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I thought Prazosin had been a life saver. Had very vivid nightmares that occured regularly. But was always very sceptical about how long this would stay effective. Well, one summer night my nightmares had come back. But was happy that I went pretty much nightmare free for close to a year. But remember, this medication did not eliminate them completely and with talking to other members of my Battalion it didn't completely eliminate them. I guess my Psychiatrist is going to try me on a marijuana based medication this month. Will keep you updated!! Go to meetings, talk about it with others who experienced it, it does eventually help!!"

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I'm a former paramedic with Complex-PTSD, and I've been taking Prazosin for one year to help with my nightmares. I used to kick and scream during my nightmares. I woke up so sweaty I had to change during the night, and sleep in a different spot. I still have nightmares, but they aren't terrifying like they used to be. I no longer have night sweats. My only beef is with the major dizziness and tachycardia the following morning. I've tried stopping these meds because of the side-effects, but trust me: the benefits far outweigh them."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I was placed on this for PTSD. I am female and none of the patient information warned that it would cause severe breast pain and engorgement. It does note in the information my doctor accessed that males may experience breast bud enlargement and pain. There was actually a specific term for this effect, but I forget now what it was. He had me go off the medication and back on 3 times. With two weeks in between. Each time, within 10 days, the pain was unbearable."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I have been taking 2 mg prazosin for a month. My nightmares have decreased and I'm actually having dreams un related to trauma. I do feel dizzy and feel a bit faint, my hands are shaky and I'm experiencing consipation, but nothing I can't handle. The fact that my daytime flashbacks have decreased and I can sleep and are without nightmatres is worth the risk."

For Nightmares "Been taking 1mg of prazosin for the last 2 months for PTSD nightmares that were causing sleep problems. Nightmares stopped the first day I took it but, I experienced severe headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea and a lack of energy. As I got used to it, the symptoms gradually improved but did not go away completely. If I've been drinking, the symptoms will worsen but it is bearable. Overall, my nightmares have become rare and I can sleep through the night; the side effects are worth it."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "A combination of PTSD....also suspect too many years standing watch in Navy. It has all resulted in YEARS of a nightmare surrounding sleep It featured high anxiety which began about 5PM.. inability to go to sleep once I got into bed, and waking up during night and early AM awakening... I was lucky to get 4 hours..sometimes so wired no sleep at all during night Prazosin shuts off my mind so I can not only go to sleep but stay asleep.. and the result of my days are better...less focus on negativity I am unable to verbalize how much it has helped.....so entirely thankful my physician who listened and Rxd.. He works with other vets too who apparently have also remarkable stories of success."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I've been taking Prazosin for years. It started mainly right after my time in the service where I experienced.. An event. My battle buddy committed suicide in front of me. Taking his own rifle to his chin and pulling the trigger. For years after I suffered horrible reenactments of his death in my dreams. So vividly lucid that I would wake up screaming and being able to smell the sulfur in the air from the shell casing hitting the ground. Or the sound of a round penetrating the human skull, rickashay in this helmet and through his face. I don't mean to go about my own horrible nightmares, but that was 2007, it's November 22, 2016. My nightmares are returning. I'm not sure if I need a readjustment or not."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I have post traumatic stress disorder, and started having nightmares about 2 months ago. I was so afraid to go to bed at night because I did not want to relive this experience. My dreams were happening 3-4 times a week and my neighbor actually called the police one night as she thought I was being attacked. I finally went to my therapist asking for sleeping pills. She gave me Prazosin which I begrudgingly took. Thank God! I am no longer afraid to sleep. No more flashlights or bats in my bed! I do have a few side effects of being tired, and upset tummy, but I'm sure it will taper off. Love it, love it, love it."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I use this for anxiety and stress: I have PTSD, anxiety and panic attacks. The VA doc started me on 1mg to eventually increase to 3 mg. Now vivid dreams have increased but relative few night mares. Once the dosage increased to 3mg , I awoke very groggy and vision blurry. Now back to 2mg and not so groggy in the morning but vivid dreams and blurry vision persists. Tempted to cut back to 1mg. Input from anyone out there with similar experience would be greatly appreciated."

For Nightmares "I was suffering from Night Terrors since 2017. And with my PTSD it was the same night terror over and over. When I take the prazosinnmedicine as prescribed I do not have nightmares nor do I have night terrors, but when I begin to slack off or stop taking them all together the dreams come back even worse. So I give this drug to thumbs up"

For Nightmares "I have really bad night terrors from ptsd. I've tried tons of atypicals for it but nothing worked. My doctor then has me try this and once I got to the full dose my night terrors have almost completely gone away and I don't have all the side effects I had on the more standard treatments."

For Anxiety and Stress "My Nephrologist prescribed this to me, 1 mg at bed time. Tonight is the first time trying it and within 2 hours I started having a severe panic attack, with blood pressure 135/100 with a 130 heart beat. Needless to say, this isn't fun. I suffer from failing kidneys, anxiety and stress, nightmares when I do get to sleep and insomnia due to not wanting nightmares, probably... as well as a lifetime of PTSD (non combat). What's worse is it is recommended not to take Ativan with this medicine, which is the anxiety med I have that WORKS. I wish my doctor told me more about the medication other than it gives people funky dreams. He did not tell me that this medicine interacts poorly with half of my medications. Oh, and suicidal ideation-became a lot stronger."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "Wow, I have PTSD due to husbands sex addiction. I had obtrusive thoughts and extremely high startle response so that I hated nights. Sleep eluded me and my mind dwelled. FINALLY! I sleep great and woke up SO HAPPY! I hope it lasts.. I took 1mg before bed. I got a light headache and felt a tad light headed but WORTH IT! I hope all people struggling with PTSD at night tries this! It is great!"

This has been making me stay up all night. It's acting like speed and is increasing my heart rate. I feel dizzy and nauseous and I am shaking as if I had a gallon of black coffee."

For Nightmares "I started taking Prazosin in 2012 when I was diagnosed with PSTD & Conversion Disorder. When I first started taking Prazosin It helped me a lot, but like another poster stated it did bring things out that had been pushed Deep into my mind that I had been suppressing for years and didn't know it. I'm glad I take it and will continue taking it. I started 1 - 2 caps bedtime. Then I was just upped to 3/ 1mg. Only side effect I can think of is diarrhea from time to time. I hope this helps others and may God bless you on your journey to finding what works for you."
