For GERD "I've given by MD this worst medicine! 2 weeks consumed it. On the 10th or 11th days, I feels brain fogs, my upper and lower back feels so painfully. Anxiety got higher. It is a month already since I stopped it, the side effects are still in my body. Seriously, what ever PPI kinda med... Do not ever take it. "

For Gastritis/Duodenitis "DO. NOT. TAKE. HORRIFIC side effects. Took this for only 5 days due to gastritis, ulcer symptoms on and off for about a year. Decided to take Omeprazole for a few weeks after repeated recommendations by my doc to heal the ulcer once and for all. An enormous mistake. 5 days in, suddenly panicky, dizzy, faint, heart beating painfully hard for hours, pulse sky high, numb hands and legs and an ambulance ride to the ER, I thought I was having a heart attack! Released the next day, they basically found nothing. Night after night, waking up in a panicked sweat feeling claustrophobic like I was losing it, unable to sleep due to the fear and pounding heartbeat. (And 2 kids to care for!)I was a complete mental and physical wreck. I have NEVER had anxiety or had a panic attack ever in my life so it was obvious these pills had done me in. Been off for 2 weeks, acupuncture and herbs to detox hopefully as quick as I can. DON’T TAKE this stuff!!!!"

For GERD "I can second all the other anxiety-related issues to this drug. I was a perfectly happy and healthy 28-year-old. Starting taking omeprazole for some nasty silent reflux symptoms and anxiety came out of nowhere. I had never in my life experienced anxiety, depression, or panic attacks until I started taking this awful drug. After 2 months I started deep diving into the research and quit taking them. Instantly felt better and started recovering, started taking supplements to restore the acid in my stomach that this drug had depleted along with many other vitamins it prohibits your body from absorbing!!! I'm on my road to recovery now and encourage you to do your own research before taking."

For Indigestion "I've been talking Omeprazole for over a week now... I had a bad indigestion that lasted 4 days and the doctor told me to take the medication for 2 weeks. Right now I cant stop belching.. anything I eat gives so much gas (bloating too). I'm starting to thinking after reading this reviews that all my symptoms are because of omeprazole. I also feel nauseous before sleep .. and gives me this empty stomach feeling even after I ate.. (I think is all the gas). I wanna stop taking it but I don't want to get worse like some people are saying."

For Barrett's Esophagus "So I was prescribed this medication by my GI Dr after having an endoscopy and colonoscopy in July he said I have Barrett’s Esophagus. I have never really realized I had heart burn very often and if I did I would just take a few tums I started on this omeprazole in August. Since that time I have started having side effects of stiff joints, brain fog, dizziness, extreme anxiety and heart palpitations. I ended up in the ER a few weeks ago because I honestly thought I was having a heart attack. My potassium was high, which has never been an issue before and after researching to try to figure out what was going on I came across these reviews and boy let me tell you sounded just like me! This stuff is just awful! I don’t know what to do because I know I’m suppose to be on it but everything you research as an alternative med for this seem to have the same effects! Needless to say my GI dr thinks I’m crazy because he’s never heard of these symptoms happening! Think it might be time to find a new Dr!"

For Gastritis/Duodenitis "Left my experience already but wanted to post an update. After all the tests and scans, blood work is all good, mild anxiety sometimes still, a few PACS and PVCS (Heartbeat issue)which I believe are caused by Omeprazole induced anxiety. Acupuncture the last month, liver detox herbs, clay bath detox, vitamins d3, K + supplements NAC (N-Ateyl Cysteine), zinc and probiotics are helping me. I’ve researched many a scientific journal + medical research papers regarding the science behind this drug and why the long list of adverse reactions. Long story short, this drug works not only in the stomach as a “proton pump”, or to stop the pump action to interact with certain enzymes and processes to create acid, but also works in cells throughout the body. It damages processes affecting amino acids such as glutathione which are essential for brain health + neurotransmitters. Do your research but know there is a reason for all of this and we can heal with remedies + time! xo!"

For GERD "I started to have problem with swallowing and felt like I had a lump in my throat. Constantly had to clear it in order to complete a sentence. I was experiencing heartburn. I went to an ENT, who put a camera up my nose and into my throat and said all was good but I have GERD. Had never heard of this until now. He suggested I take 40mg of Omperazole everyday and see how it works. So, it did help with the issue with my throat but the side effects from it are horrible . I have been nauseous, feel like I am going to vomit, dizzy, shakes, chill, panic attack, rapid heart beat, severe anxiety and severe insomnia. I have tried taking it for three weeks and as the days go by the side effects make me feel so bad I can not function. IAM NOT GOING TO CONTINUE WITH THIS PILL!!! IT IS HORRIBLE!!!!! It literally has ruined me . I am hoping it clears my system quick. I feel horrible"

For Gastritis/Duodenitis "Got diagnosed with Gastritis and was prescribed omeprazole for 5 weeks. Got the full package side effects - tingling in my arms and feet, buzzing in my back, buzzing in my left calf, weakness to the point where i was barely able to lift it, extreme anxiety, waking up during the night with my heart racing, pain and burning on the left under the ribs, lost 14 kilos in 3 weeks. Today it is 3 weeks since I stopped taking it, anxiety lifted 3 days ago and is no longer there, tingling in my arms and feet is gone, burning the stomach too, the only thing left is slight weakness in my left calf still, but that's improving slowly. I have an appetite, weight is going up steady. If you are reading this, hang in there, stay tough, it takes a while for that poison to wear off, keep yourself hydrated and take vitamins and electrolytes, probiotics help with anxiety, it gets better. I honestly thought this nightmare will never end. PPI - never again !"

For GERD "I never had acid reflux in my life. Was given omeprazole while in the hospital for 3 days. Heart related issue. Dr wrote me prescription out for it. I have no clue why. When I tried to stop taking it. I had acid reflux really bad. So I continued to take it. Lost 30 pounds in a month. Started to have muscle spasms, head aches, complete unwellness and lost a lot of muscle mass. I was finally able to get off omeprazole. Started to gain weight back and I look healthy. This is a very bad drug from a nutritional stand point. Will never take it again."

For GERD "Took omeprazole for one week, felt dizzy and decided to stop. Two weeks later I had to retake it again and that was a huge mistake I made. This medication left me feeling very very dizzy, couldn't walk on my own, gave me eye pain and weakness of the body. It took me two weeks with so many blood tonics and fluid to get back on my feet. This medication is awaful. Please no one should use it"

For GERD "I really never comment on websites such as these, as I’ve been fairly healthy for all of my life. I was recently diagnosed with GERD and was told to take a 40 mg pill of omeprazole daily. I implore you all to exhaust all options before taking this pill. I am only on Day 1, and I have had anxiety and sentiments of hopelessness. Even as someone who is generally very happy and calm, I now cannot watch a TV series without getting anxiety after taking this medication. I will be halting its consumption and hoping that the side effects disappear soon."

I have pressure on both sides of my head and a headache plus palpitations, it’s a really horrible drug. I can not wait for it to leave my system. I feel so ill."

Prilosec (omeprazole) for GERD "A great medicine. I'm on 40 mg daily due to the feeling of my food being stuck in my throat. It was so bad at one time that I purposely made myself vomit for relief. After having my esophagus looked at - and finding out I also have a small hiatal hernia, doctor said my "flapper" doesn't close, or stay closed. So here I am religiously taking this medicine and mostly loving life. If you miss a day you will again feel miserable. I will say that over the years I have experienced "breakthrough" reflux at one time or another but never for a second day. Very happy."

For GERD "I have been sick since about 2011 and it rapidly got worse until as of late I wasn't even barely able to leave my bed. After throwing up blood I wound up in the emergency room 2 days ago. A nurse came up to me and said hey between you and me are you sure it isn't your stomach meds (Prilosec) causing this? So I got home later that night and looked up the side effects and sure enough, severe bloating, dizziness, loss of consiousness, hallucinations were on the side effects list. So I figured I'd skip my meds for 2 days. My gut is now half the size it was, most of the pain is gone and I think I am going to scream at the doctor at my next appointment for letting this happen to me for so long. I am starting to think that doctors are not here to help."

For Barrett's Esophagus "I have a US ARMY service connected disability including GERD and BARRETT'S. The VA has subscribed OMEPRAZOLE or equivalent for the past 30 years (at least) The RX calls for 3 caps daily. However I only take 2, AM & PM. I can eat anything I want with no side effects. I have never in all these years ever been told about a time limit, 7 days. 14 days or any days\ ! ! I can only say that I can not be without these capsules, PERIOD. I guess the time limits must vary with each patient as I have NEVER had a problem.... I am now 86 years OLD !"

For GERD "I am so glad I did some research and found these reviews. I literally never comment or leave reviews on anything, but decided to leave one on here. I literally just switched to Omperazole because my new insurance company doesn’t cover Lansoprozale. Have been on it for 5 days and have been experiencing terrible anxiety everyday on it and has resulted in me getting very little sleep. I even experienced something I have never experienced in my life, which was a panic attack that woke me up. Since it has been such a short time on this drug I didn’t even think of the drug being the reason for these symptoms so I thank you all for posting. I am going to stop tomorrow and see if my anxiety goes away."

For GERD "I had taken Omeprazole years ago for acid reflux and had no side effects. I recently started taking it again (20mg) and I’m on day 4. Something changed. My anxiety is very bad. Like bad! I’m out of it, feeling like I’m not in the real world. I’m dizzy and my body aches. Horrible headaches too! And I’m extremely depressed. I’m going to stop taking it tomorrow and hopefully I start to feel better this week. Hopefully don’t have withdraws or anything. Couldn’t be more worse than this anyways. I’m going to give it a 3 just because it worked years ago for me with no side effects."

For GERD "Been on this medication for a good 2 years or more. If you get any joint or tendon pain then quit this med immediately. One day both my thumbs had a lot of pain. Then about 3 months later a cascade of pain in my right shoulder, right elbow, lower back and left hip. I could barely get out of bed and impossible to even put on my socks. Seen 3 specialists but because of myopic vision they could only think arthritis . Finally I put 2 and 2 together and just quit the Omeprazole within two days started feeling better. But the damage was done as 3 tendons in my shoulder were severely damaged and my hip still has pain. Everything else went away. No faith in doctors but thanks to the internet and sites like this we will get by. It is an effective med but the side effects are very damaging."

For GERD "I am 26 and have dealt with heart burn and acid reflux for many years. Unfortunately, my mom deals with it too. I have been on this medication for two weeks. My heartburn is gone but I now have some horrible side effects. Dizziness, nausea, muscle pain, vertigo, blurred vision, anxiety/paranoia and more. I had a full blown panic attack, where I felt drunk. I still feel terribly anxious a day later. I don’t recommend this at all. I have decided to stop taking it and will be discussing more natural options with my doctor. I much would rather have had heartburn then experience these awful side effects."

For GERD "I've been on Omeprazole going on 10 years . No one ever mentioned anemia or any of the other problems that can come from this medication. I've been trying to get off this med for close to a year. Went down from 40mg to 20 mg not too bad. Now trying to get off 20MG. For the last week I've had chills, headaches, diarrhea, extreme heartburn anxiety, body aches exhaustion and depression. This is awful it helped reflux but at quite a price. B12. MAGNESIUM, FERRETIN SHOULD ALL BE MONITORED WHILE ON THIS MED. I had a hysterectomy and gallbladder removed in the last 5 years and wonder if those surgeries could have been avoided."

Prilosec (omeprazole) for GERD "Doc prescribed this for me but I didn't think it would help, since my main symptoms of shortness of breath and chest tightness and rarely heartburn. Left it in the cabinet for months until recurring stomach pains landed me in the ER. All blood tests, urine tests, and ultrasounds came back normal and once again my doc suggested the Prilosec. Finally caved. I kid you not, within the first day my stomach pains disappeared. I had the best nights sleep the first few days that I could remember, realizing it was actually heartburn waking me up (I contributed my early wakings to anxiety or poor sleep habits). Absolutely no side effects. I can eat whatever I want. I feel like a new person after one week. Hoping this lasts once my 14 days are up!"

For Indigestion "I was prescribed this for Indigestion and a mild concentric ring on esophagus. Was advised it was safe. I don't take any other medications and am healthy. Took for less than 4 months and the side effects started into the 4th month - Tinnitus, depression, anxiety, panic. Never knew what these were until I took this. Stopped it straight away after researching this. The withdrawals were horrendous. Depression, anxiety, kidney problems - 2 antibiotics to treat. Lost over 2 stone in weight the first few weeks as couldn't eat. Appetite returned after about 6 weeks. Went to see a functional medicine practitioner and am taking natural remedies which are helping hugely. I was glad to find this site and some other to know that this is what was causing all this. I am over 3 months of now and things are lifting. I read most people's recovery takes 3 to 6 months. I will never take this again and I will research anything I am ever advised to take with a degree of intense analysis."
