Zyprexa (olanzapine) "A doctor said I had bipolar and put me on Zyprexa and Lexapro. It was a nightmare, I told my doctor it made my depression worse and that I developed restless leg syndrome while on it. The doctor completely ignored me. After months of this horrible nightmare, I switched doctor's and was told I am NOT bipolar, but suffer from depression. I was tapered off Zyprexa and now I feel 100% better. Thankful"

"Hi am from Kenya that is in East Africa..I was diagnosed with depression by my doctor and put on deprex 10mg which is also a brand name for olanzapine. I took it for about 28 days, which went well, I got good sleep but after that it was a nightmare. I was getting brain fog. I tried to quit it but the withdrawals were crazy. I couldn't sleep at night, restlessness was another issue. So I self lowered to 5mg. I am not having a normal sleep, walking up a couple of times at night. Last night I took 2.5mg...am really trying to get off this garbage by tapering coz the withdrawal is unbareable ... DON'T TAKE THIS DRUG IF U LOVE URSELF N UR LIFE"

Zyprexa (olanzapine) "I took Klonopin and Paxil for 15 years to treat my anxiety disorder. I had to detox from the Klonopin this past spring. I got off the Klonopin and switched my Paxil to Lexapro (sex side effect issue). I am also a recovering alcoholic. My doctor did not want me on Benzo's anymore (says it increased alcohol cravings). I stayed on Lexapro only for 9 months, but my anxiety came back strong on just the Lexapro alone. I almost resorted to taking Xanax before I switched doctors. My new doc gave Zyprexa a chance. I am on my 7th day and I haven't felt this "normal" in 5 years. I take 5mgs at night and it has ended the "chatter" in my head, and removed my anxiety. Great medicine so far."

Zyprexa (olanzapine) "Was on Zyprexa from Mar 2015 till Aug 2015. At first it seemed like it was mellowing me out a bit, and I could sleep through the whole night, which was an improvement. After a few months I noticed my depression was getting much worse. Came off the drug cold turkey, and went through one of the most serious withdrawals one could face. Depression, severe anxiety, PTSD, night terrors took over. To this day Apr 2016, I have still not returned to the way I was before I started taking this horrible drug. Depression and anxiety are still bad, not as bad as 6 mos ago, but still worse than when I first started taking it. I'm convinced this drug can cause permanent brain damage."

"Olanzapine saved my life.....wait. just kidding. I hate this drug. It stole my personality and way of feeling myself. After withdrawing I have abnormal headaches , no motivation and depressed to some extent. Thankfully I don't have insomnia but I have realised I am sleeping lighter than before. This is poison. Don't take it."

Zyprexa (olanzapine) "I have taken Zyprexa 2.5 with Zoloft for years and couldn't function without this combination. It was prescribed because the Zoloft just didn't take care of the insomnia and mood swings. Zyprexa 2.5 has been a God-send."

Zyprexa (olanzapine) "I have ever been a fan of antidepressants as I feel they are a bandaid for underlying problems. I starting to think differently. My doctor put me on 2.5 mg along with 0.5 Xanax. After years of feeling depressed and hopeless I now have more energy, sleep well at night waking up feeling great. I have also have gained weight which I needed to do. I give Zyprexa a 10 stars"

Zyprexa (olanzapine) "I have been on this medicine for about 3 weeks now. I wake up hungry, drenched in sweat, and have also gained 15 pounds. Im thinking about getting off this medication. I have also had crying spells, irritability, and mood swings, then some other days I have felt fine. Its weird. I'm going to give it a few more weeks, and if nothing improves as far as my moods i will get off of it."

"Zyprexa has been a wonder drug for me. After 10 years of serious depression and Bipolar 1 disorder and several different meds this medication saved my life. After 9 hospitalizations and 2 suicide attempts I was put on 10 mg. of Zyprexa and have been stable for 3 years. This medicine has been a Godsend!"

Zyprexa (olanzapine) "This medication is a great sedative, if that's what you're looking for. It's not euphoric, it just makes you sleepy. But it caused me to gain over 40 pounds in less than 2 months. I now get depressed just looking in the mirror. My doctor says it just makes you hungry, not gain weight, but the amount of weight I gained in such a short time is unnatural!"

Zyprexa (olanzapine) "This drug ruined my life. I was experiencing a mild depression and wanted a "buffer" before I started my new career in Atlanta, GA at Emory Hospital. The night I took Zyprexa I slept 12+ hours. I immediately started to gain weight - my lean muscle tissue was replaced by adipose tissue. I developed gynecomastia (man boobs). I was tired and irritable all day due to Zyprexa's anti-dopaminergic effects. In a frenzied effort to heal my body, I spent so much money on organic foods, because no matter how healthy I ate and much I exercised, I kept gaining weight. This drug was a nightmare and took me about 3 months of absolute terror to heal from."

Zyprexa (olanzapine) "I take 5 mg of Zyprexa daily. I'm almost the entire day sleepy and have the feeling of doing nothing. I can not worry, because I have to sleep for about 15 hours daily. But I have tried everything out there, and this is the best at this moment."

"Olanzapine made me feel terrible- I was prescribed it for a depressive episode and quickly found (within a few days) that I felt worse- I was in a constant state of feeling despair/panic/anxious as a result of it. I then went back to a different doctor who immediately withdrew this drug (luckily it had only been a few days) I was then prescribed Escitalopram which I used for a couple months. Olanzapine is an extremely strong drug that was wholly inappropriate to my treatment"

"Take it now, if you finally want to beat depression!! Don't be silly and take advantage of the fact that we don’t live in medieval times anymore and we have science and pharmacological intervention to treat things once thought incurable. The opportunity to dig yourself out of the BOTTOMLESS PIT you’re in right now is in your hands, so do the right choice. With mental illness decision-making can be impaired so listen to guidance of the people around you and especially professionals. Don't be scared (like i was)"

"This medication has been a life saver for me. After suffering severe situational depression and 3 serious suicide attempts I was put on 5mg. It took away anxiety. I'm also on venalafaxine, which just wasn't enough for me. I have not put on weight and eat healthy. I have tried to come of and anxiety and low mood came back."

"Have taken olanapine 2.5 mg with prozac 20 mg for years. For last month have quit prozac and just been taking olanzapine. From what I can tell the olanzapine has been what has made me happier and stabilized my mood and quit ruminating thought. So far so good. I have gained weight but not sure it's the drug. I am just going to continue the olanzapine. I like it. And way cheaper than prozac...so far I am singing in my car and happy..."

Zyprexa (olanzapine) "I was only on Zyprexa for 10 days but it made me so tired I couldn't even function. All I wanted to do was sleep all day. And it made my depression worse. I was so depressed by that 10th day that I almost quit my job because I just felt like I couldn't handle any stress at all. So glad I stopped taking this drug."

Zyprexa (olanzapine) "Sure this med can keep depression at bay but it can also cause some really horrible side effects. After being on this med for 1 yr I went from being a healthy 170 lbs (women's size 12) to 250 lbs (size 20). It made me so lethargic and tired. I would sleep for 14 hours a day and still be dragging out of bed. About 2 months ago was the final straw. I got blood work done by my GP and my triglycerides were through the roof as well as elevated blood sugar. The doc was ready to put me on meds for diabetes! I'm only 25 and I just wanted my health back so last week I went to a new doc who got me off this horrible stuff. I feel like a new person without this toxic med in my body. Now on Viibryd."

"I was prescribed with 10 mg of this rubbish. Now after 1 year I feel totally like garbage. Was prescribed for shizophrenia and now I wonder did it damaged my brain. I lack of motivation, I've gained weight, I feel tired and unmotivated to do just regular activities like to brush my teeth. I'm off of it. Don't take it, it is just a bunch of rubbish."

"I had severe depression and was told by the psychiatrist that I also have psychosis. Was given 2.5mg of olanzapine. Maybe it helped with psychosis a bit but it made me even more depressed because I kept gaining weight, started to think slower, my vocabulary decreased and I found it difficult to express myself or make jokes. Started to have difficulties with doing my job and comprehending new information. Olanzapine really slows down your cognitive abilities and information processing! I found the benefits not worth the drawbacks and stopped taking it. Now I am taking Cytomel and it has been helping me much more - lost all the weight that I gained, have much more energy during the day, back to normal thinking abilities."
