For Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy "I'm taking this pill for a different reason than most, I'm transgender (FTM) and I use it to stop my period while waiting to start HRT. I'm on 5mg and it works great. I have heavy periods with intense cramps that leave me writhing on the floor in pain. It took 3 months for my period to fully stop, but each month was lighter than the last and I didn't have any debilitating cramps. I occasionally get cramps with no bleeding, but I mentioned it to my doctor and she said it's nothing to worry about seeing as I'm on a lower dose. My body still has a monthly hormone cycle, I just don't bleed. If you're looking for relief from all period symptoms, this may not be for you. For this nature of medication, everyone is very different. My experience is not what everybody else will experience."

Nora-Be (norethindrone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "49 years old got on this medication to regulate insanely heavy periods. At 7 weeks I have not yet had a period - yay! However, in the last two weeks I began developing lower abdominal pain and cramping on right side. At times there is a great deal of pressure, causing an urgency to urinate. Very distracting and uncomfortable and has me using the bathroom every hour. My doctor said to try to stick it out but I am getting off of this medication due to these side effects. I read online that progesterone can cause changes and functioning to the GI tract like mine. I also have some nausea and heartburn with this medication so I don't think it is for me. Also noticed my hair falling out at about week 5. Everybody is different, but I think I will try and more natural approach to lightening my periods. Good luck everybody!"

Norlyda (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I started these birth control pills Norllyda 2 weeks ago. After the second day of taking them I started a period which lasted for 8 days. It stopped and came back on 4 days later. It has now been on for another week and still haven't ended. It’s heavy and I’m going through tampons like crazy. I have to wear a pad as well because the flow is so heavy. The cramps are horrible. I’ve been on birth control pills before and never had an experience like this. I’ve contacted my Dr and was told that this is normal because my period have to regulate and that it can take up to 3 months with these pills to regulate. Meaning that I can be bleeding like this for 3 months. There is no way losing this much blood for all these days is normal. I will be contacting my Dr again to see if they can prescribe me another kind of pill because I can not deal with all this bleeding and cramping. Also these pills don’t have placebos. you never know when your period is going to arrive. I do not recommend these."

Ortho Micronor (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I started using micronor because I heard it lacked estrogen and I heard it was a healthier method of birth control. I'm surprised by all the poor reviews because I had absolutely no problem with this pill. I'm 5"4 and 120 pounds, and I never work out. I had no weight gain, no depression/moodiness, no lowered Lobito, etc. So don't get scared off by the reviews, everybody's different. I combined this medication with a condom, because I've heard its common to get pregnant on this pill. For that reason I'm ending my use this month (after 8-9 months) and switching to the combined pill Alesse, because I wanna try condomless sex with my partner. Give it a try :) you can always stop using it if you have issues."

Errin (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I was prescribed Errin for BC as I cannot take estrogen. For the first month my only side effect was sore breasts. That went away. The second month my side effect was a racing heart. Also during this time I developed a recurring yeast infection problem. The racing heart went away the 3rd month, but the constipation started. Constipation & yeast infections from a dry V. I stopped halfway thru the 4th month because I couldn’t take the constipation anymore & any time I had sex I'd get a YI. Two other things this entire course of time on the pill. 1, it intensified my anxiety and made me paranoid and 2, it got rid of my sex drive. I think the only thing I liked about it was that it made my period lighter and shorter, but didn’t affect it at all otherwise. I’m writing this review because the side effects I experienced I hadn’t heard anyone else talk about. I never got pregnant tho, which is good so I would consider this effective hence the 9/10 but I will never take hormonal BC again."

Jencycla (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I've been on Jencycla for probably close to 2 years now. I was taken off of regular BC because I was prone to migraines. My old pills were perfect, did everything they needed to do; lessened cramps, regulated my period, and helped with acne. Since being on these pills, I feel like a different person. I have major mood swings, become super moody, my anxiety is at an all-time high, I have bloating, 0 sex drive, and my periods are all over the place (missing a period one month, then having three the next). I experience period symptoms all of the time (cramping, spotting, nausea), my hair is thinning, and I am always tired. I've talked to my doctor about other progestin-only options, and none of them sounds any better. Honestly debating going off them altogether because the only benefit this pill has had is preventing pregnancy and only because I take it at the exact same time every day."

Errin (norethindrone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "So I started to take Errin because this was what was suggested. I regret it so much. I took it everyday on time - I had an alarm set so I know it was taken on time religiously. I started to bleed constantly and it got to the point the clots that started to come out were huge. Like ungodly my new normal became multiple periods in a month, it sucked. Costing more in hygienic products in a month then I have spent over 3 months without taking it I shouldn't be going thru the big box of tampons in a week. -_- when they normally last me months granted everyone can experience different things. But this is my experience and why I rated it what I did."

Ortho Micronor (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I am a healthy, active, college student, and I have experienced no negative side effects from this pill. I was scared to start it because so many other users gave it bad reviews, but I've been on it for 3 months and I've had no bad side effects at all. I'm also not pregnant so the pill seems to be working correctly. Micronor hasn't changed my moods or made me gain weight. The only noticeable change has been my breast size. Within the first month of taking Micronor, my bra size increased from a C to a D. I use condoms with Micronor to be extra safe, since it is not quite as effective at preventing pregnancy as other birth control pills."

Ortho Micronor (norethindrone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on plenty of birth control methods.. From the ring, patch, IUD and pills. Nothing seemed to work , then (as a health care professional) I decided to research and try Norethindrone (ortho Micronor) .. This was the best decision, sharobel and Micronor are my favorites! No weight gain (like I've had on others), no anxiety issues/depression..sex drive is the same. I will NOT go back to anything else! I'm so grateful "

Ortho Micronor (norethindrone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm 41 and have had heavy periods for 3 years. I was bleeding for 10 straight days before seeing my OB. I did test and vaginal ultrasounds and and my OB says everything looks fine. She put me on Micronor bcs of my HBP and bcs of my age. I was having break through bleeding for 3 weeks after starting on Micronor. After the 3 weeks, I guess I had my period bcs it was heavier. I still had a little spotting afterwards and thankfully it tampered off after a few days. Now no blood, it stopped and I'm period free. I'm now on my first week of my second pack. I don't really have any side effects, just a little hungrier but no weight gain yet. My complexion is fine, no mood swings, my sex life is fine, no depression either."

Heather (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I was on this birth control for about one year, April 2018 to April 2019. My gyno told me to expect changes in my skin/weight but boy did I not know what I was in for. The only upside of using this pill was no periods but the downside was so much of my hair fell out, gained about 30 pounds and I went from clear skin to the worst acne I've ever had in my life. I'm 31 and it wasn't even this bad in my teenage years. I'm officially done with this pill. I gave it time for my body to become used to it but even after a year it only seems to be getting worse. Seems like the weight gain is not stopping and the acne is so bad. If possible, please find another BC pill."

Errin (norethindrone) for Amenorrhea "Starting Erin has seriously been a life-changer. I’m 37 and for the last two years or so I’ve been dealing with major hormonal fluctuations, migraines, super heavy periods lasting 10 days, mood swings, insomnia you name it.. basically all the symptoms that come along with peri menopause. All of my symptoms essentially disappeared after taking Errin … and the best part is my mood has significantly improved. I’m more calm, and feel more at peace on the daily. I SO happy I decided to give this a try."

Errin (norethindrone) for Birth Control "Before I got on this pill, I looked up the reviews and was terrified from all the terrible things I read, but my gyne highly recommended it for me and I’m happy she did. I’ve been on this pill for about two months now and my experience has been great. Before getting on this pill, I would have terrible heavy periods that came along with cramps, acne, tender breasts, and mood swings. I have not gotten my period at all since starting it, only spotting with minor cramps. And I have not had any other terrible side effect. I would say give it a try because not everyone’s body is the same."

Incassia (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I am leaving a review since the ones I read scared me enough to delay trying this pill for years. I went on combination birth control when I was 20 for PCOS symptoms, namely horrible cystic acne and amenorrhea. It worked great and I’ve since had three healthy babies. BUT, it gave me melasma and I have had enough! I switched to progesterone-only one month ago, expecting the worst. I have had zero side effects, aside from some mild bloating and headaches in week one. No acne, no hair loss, no mood changes."

Errin (norethindrone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Okay so I have been on this for a week now, my face hasn’t broken out more than usual, I have insanely irregular periods and literally the day after starting this, my period ended and it hasn’t started up again. Before, I would have maybe two days of no period and then it would hit me like a freight train again. My body feels much better than it has in years! Again, I have only been on this for a week. I haven’t had any weight gain or random spotting..yet? Idk. Before I got put on this birth control I literally bled, had intense cramps, mood swings, and migraines pretty much daily. I’m not saying it’s good for everyone, as everyone’s bodies are different. It has worked wonders for me. I will post another review as time goes on. I also haven’t had any issues with my hair falling out or being dull. It’s so nice to not be so damn hormonal everyday. I feel so much better health wise now. I think it’s honestly balancing out my chemicals, but I’m not a doctor. "

Heather (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I've been on this birth control Heather for 2 months. I'm pretty sure the mechanism of action for this drug is actually just abstinence because bleeding and cramping for 3.5 weeks each month is not conducive to having sex. The depression (which I have no prior history of) doesn't help. My medical professional never warned me about any side effects and has since told me to "stick it out", so I'll give it a full three months. I had been on estrogen-based birth control for over 20 years and loved it but, hypertension :( At this point though, I'd almost rather have the hypertension) And can I just take a moment to rant that in all my many trips to the gyno over the years for birth control no one has EVER brought up vasectomy, when uterine ablation (literally burning out the inside of the uterus) has been suggested though. Come on!! Vasectomy was the first thing my partner suggested (bless him), so we may end up going that route."

Jencycla (norethindrone) for Birth Control "This is awful. I am 25 years old and this pill has made me gain over 20 pounds in half a year. I bleed every other week heavily and it's never red anymore, it's always dark brown. I have terrible and extreme cramps worse than I've ever had too! My acne is next-level bad and a rash started appearing on my shoulders, chest, neck, and back. My skin is super dry and weird too. I had to go on this birth control because of my migraines but I absolutely hate it. I have never had issues like I've had on this pill before. I will be trying to get on something else soon."

Heather (norethindrone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had been bleeding for about two months and the doctor originally prescribed the combo pill, which made me feel off balanced. I was switched to this pill Heather and almost immediately it stopped the bleeding. I think our bodies are all different, so what works for one person may not work for another. I'm just relieved I found this medication."

Ortho Micronor (norethindrone) for Birth Control "You should be very attentive to your body and well-being when taking this medication. It can cause significant weight gain, it can cause overall body aches and pains (headaches, sciatica pain, ankle and knee pain, muscle pain, tingling sensations from your nerves), tiredness, dizziness and moodiness. If you start getting these symptoms, I would recommend that you stop this medication immediately. From my experience, I can tell you that your symptoms will only get worse the longer you take it. Ortho Micronor made me feel like my was spiraling out of control with health issues. I was unable to sleep at night due to the pain shooting down my leg, my ankles felt like they were going to break when walking, and I gained a good bit of weight. I was absolutely miserable and at my breaking point when I decided to stop this pill. Note that is was my choice, not my doctors choice, to stop this medication. They never worried about this medication causing issues and no questions were ever asked on what could be the cause of my problems. On the plus side, I did notice a significant difference within two days after being off of this pill. I had no more leg pain or ankle pain. I'm not gaining weight any longer. Overall, my health is improving and I'm working on losing the weight I put on from being on the pill. I would recommend you pay very close attention to your symptoms and not let them get out of hand as I did. You are the only one that knows your body. I truly feel this medication would have continued to cause issues (if not killed me) had I stayed on it."

Jolivette (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I've been on this pill for 1 year now. I agree with previous posters that every woman is different and we all will have a different experience. I personally loved this pill. I'm not breastfeeding and I've never had any side effects. My partner and I use this as our only form of contraception (meaning no condoms or withdrawal) and I haven't gotten pregnant. (Though please do your own research and access the risk before deciding to do this because the mini pill is slightly less effective than the combined pill). I would also like to note that I have suffered from anxiety my entire life and I haven't felt any different since starting the pill. This pill has been perfect for me and I will continue taking it."

Errin (norethindrone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Errin is Awful!! So I had my IUD removed and was put on Errin First month was fabulous one regular month lasted 6 days but my normal was 4 still not a big deal So month two first week not so bad at all and then the rest came. It’s been about 3 months and I have bled every week for 3 weeks. It’s great for preventing pregnancy but costing me a fortune in feminine hygiene products because I just can’t stop bleeding. My skin stays broken out, my breasts are constantly tender. The second month I bled with a 3 day break following and I have been bleeding since and it’s not just a light flow I’m talking if you feel the need to change your product you better run to the nearest restroom. For me it has just gushed and I can’t quite understand why. I contacted my OBGYN and was told to stop taking it immediately but if I had dizziness, shortness of breath or a racing heart I needed to get to the nearest emergency room. Apparently it’s a common side effect but not a good one and not right for me"

For Endometriosis "Been on 5 mg once a day now for six months. Taking for endo pain. New doc put me on this higher dose as a last resort and it’s now working well. Initially had bloating, moodiness, some insomnia and mild cramps. Periods stopped after 3 mo. Have had spotting for long periods of time but recently stopped. I also had some migraines with aura about four times a week but it completely has stopped and they never caused pain which my doctor monitored. .I’m 50, but of late I have like hot flashes a lot Used to get maybe a few a week at night which caused insomnia. But of late, I get this wave of heat coming over me..all times of the day. With the Covid thing, I take my temps twice a day but nothing. I almost feel like I’m fighting a bug but no other symptoms. Overall I would take it again as it’s completely changed my quality of life for the better. Anyone else having hot flashes? lol"

Nora-Be (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I started taking Nora-Be over 7 years ago after having my baby. I was breastfeeding at the time and going on this mini pill made sense. Through out the past 7 years I’ve gained 37 pounds. I didn’t change my diet or exercise. I had horrible migraines and sensitivity to light. My hair was falling out like crazy. My periods were so irregular. I would have random bleeding and spotting through out the month. I had horrible mood swings and anxiety. I would feel sad and stressed out for no reason. I had bad insomnia and my blood pressure also increased. I never got pregnant though. I never ever made the connection that Nora Be could be the reason why I was experiencing all these issue. I kept going to the dr through out the years and no one made the connection either. I finally stop taking it 3 days ago. I hope it gets better for me. I’m in the process of losing weight and just being healthier. Everyone is different but I wouldn’t recommend Nora-Be."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "This medication SAVED MY LIFE. Norethindrone acetate/generic Aygestin, 5mg 2x a day. My periods have always been extremely heavy with debilitating cramps 24/7, so much so that do anything but lay in bed. Took various birth control pills for years trying to find a solution. Nothing worked, so I went to the best gyno in town & she prescribed this; I was so desperate & didn't have a life anymore. It took a few months to a year for my periods to completely go away. They gradually lightened & cramps stopped; I could hang out with friends & go to school again. Root cause of my abnormal bleeding was a bicornuate uterus & heavy lining, & had a procedure for that before going on this medication; it helped, but the bleeding was still debilitating, so I have aygestin generic to thank for everything. I'm happy again & I look forward to my life because of this medication. I will never be going off it. No side effects."
