For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I have had opioid-induced constipation (OIC) for about a year now! I take suboxone daily. Recently I started having really bad stomach aches due to constipation. My GI doctor recommended Symproic. I was very hesitant to take it because I didn’t want to compound my problems with bad cramps, diarrhea or even possibly withdrawals! But let me tell you, this medication works!!!! And it works well! It was a very natural movement and absolutely NO side effects! Not to say it’s not possible that no one would have any but for me this stuff is a game changer! Hope this helps! Good luck!"

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Symproic is the best thing I have ever found for my constipation. I looked like I was 9 months pregnant. I haven't had a good bowel movement in over 2 years. I truly believe if I hadn't of found this I would have died. I couldn't eat much because I was full of poop. The first day I took this I began to have results. For 11 days straight I was in bathroom for a hour cleaning out. I lost 2 pounds in one week. I don't see how a body can hold that much poop but it can. I just wish I had ask my dr for this years ago. Now I can bend over to pick things up. I feel so much better. I do get cramps when I take this but it is worth it. As time goes by and the body is cleaned out the cramps aren't that bad. I would say try your best to take for 7 days, work thru the cramps. It is worth it if you are really constipated like I was."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I have tried Movantix and Linzess (sp?) and I felt like they just caused withdrawal feelings more than helping with the actual issue. I started Symproic about a year ago and it’s s game changer. After I take it, I don’t nauseous or super cramped. It is more of a natural feeling. I have noticed that when I go too long between taking it, I sometimes have to take two for it to really flush me out. I am finally able to go in a way that doesn’t worse than the constipation itself. I highly recommend it if you have OIC."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Symproic is effective for my OIC (opioid-induced constipation). It is less harsh than any other prescription medication for this purpose that I have taken. It induces a more natural urge without the miserable and uncomfortable cramping, sweating, sick feeling that other medicines of this type have caused. It is the only drug that I have taken for OIC that does not produce a “violent” reaction."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I have had constipation for 14 years now because of pain medication. I tried Symproic and this is the FIRST TIME a medication really worked and naturally too. No side effects, nothing. My insurance co refused to pay, I had 2 weeks of samples. So now what???? The medication is near 400 dollars per month. Why do they create a medication then make it not available unless you are rich!!! Shame really. Back on laxative, back to internal hemorrhoids. Any suggestions?"

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Symproic has not worked well for me. My insurance company forced me to try it prior to them approving Movantik or Amitiza, and I have never felt this sick or uncomfortable. I assume this is what mild opiate withdrawal feels like. I contacted my doctor to see if nausea, sweats/chills, cramps, diarrhea, and agitation were common side effects. If the point of Symproic is just to send you into withdrawal to induce a bowel movement (which is just severe diarrhea at this point), I guess it works. I could have just gone cold turkey on my pain medications if I wanted to do that."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I took symproic once and I ended up in the hospital. My small intestines and large intestines were severely inflamed. After I took it I had extreme abdominal pain, nausea, sweats and chills. My gastroenterologist told me never to take this medication again. From my personal experience I do not recommend this medication. I was in the hospital for 5 days after this. The experience I had was worse than childbirth."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I started taking this three days ago. I tried Movantik a while back, and every time it made me nauseous and ultimately I would vomit. I did poop, however. The first couple days I took Symproic it worked like a charm. The third day, I did get some cramping and diarrhea but since I’d barely gone in two weeks, I figured I needed a good cleansing! So, keeping in mind it’s only been three days, highly recommend. I’ll post again after I’ve used it a while. Good luck!"

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I'm 80 year old lung cancer patient on chemotherapy, which causes peripheral neuropathy pain in feet, for which I take percocet (opioids) that cause severe constipation. Normally the Senna laxative will relieve it, except when I do a round of chemo. Than the chemo plus the opioids really lock me up. The first time I went to the ER they used Relistor which worked perfectly, but price is very high. I found Symproic for 75% less, and got immediate, painless relief the 1st time I took it, within the hour. BTW, I only take 20 mg of opioids daily, so even a small amount can cause OIC. Symproic was miraculous for me."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I had ate a high fat small meal prior to taking for the first time - within an hour of taking the SYMPROIC 0.2 mg tablet I began to feel nauseated which was escalating - I was on the verge of vomiting for another 20-30 min & had began having quite intense abdominal cramping & pain with sudden intense frequent diarrhea & sweating & significant dizziness & fatigue - I continued to have intense nausea & abdominal pain & dizziness & I could barely keep my eyes open & then sweats & chills. I then vomited intensely 2 times & had 2 more episodes of watery diarrhea & was still dizzy & very fatigued. I have had a headache & experiences some episodes of a heaviness in my chest & vomiting & diarrhea has ceased. I had a significant BAD reaction"

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I asked my pain clinic doctor if there was another prescription for opiate induced constipation, and he mentioned Symproic. I took it, and did not have a bowel movement for four days! I went back to Movantic 25 mg, and had a bowel movement within an hour; of taking it. I always take Movantic 25 mg, in the morning, with my coffee. Invariably, I have a bowel movement within an hour. Supposedly, you can take Symproic, with or without food, at any time of the day; that's why I wanted to try it! I had no luck with it, and have daily bowel movements with Movantic 25 mg. I hope this helps!"

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I had a heart attack, before that I was hurting in lower back and down through my hip all the way down to the bottom of my foot, the pain was very severe. I couldn't have surgery because I had a stent put in my heart and was on blood thinners. I hadn't been on the blood thinners (brilinta) too long so I had to wait. They put me on pain meds and muscle relaxers. The pain has been most severe and has been terrible . I've always had constipation problems ,and had awful constipation everyday, they tried several different meds, but this is the only one that worked. My insurance won't cover it. I'm very worried my doctor gave me some samples but they won't last long. I'm on medicare and medicaid."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Background: 6 ft tall male 37 yo 210lbs type 2 Diabetic Father of 3, It tech. MBA. Review: This stuff is awesome. Had to go to the ER 3 times in last 12 months for dehydration, abdominal pain, vomiting, migraines and overall very sick feeling only to be told I was constipated. I am not sure about the other review because my experience is completely different than their description. Its like its COMPLETELY NATURAL but it works, EVERYTIME LIKE CLOCKWORK! Where before, when using OTC MEDS AND EATING PUDDING, it would take days and hours of excruciating pain on the pot trying to desperately force out a dinosaur sized egg and feeling terrible like my body was poisoning itself. Get rid of that cheese and meat baby TODAY!"

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I have been taking this medication for 2 weeks now still no bowel movement! Nothing but cramps, nausea, and feeling like I'm withdrawing! Did anyone else do that?? I have been feeling terrible since I started taking it. Before I was using 2 caps full of parallax in my coffee in the morning and it might be a day or two but when it started it worked!! Along with old school exlax! Drinking Gatorade with 2 capfuls Miralax in the evening. And it seemed or I know it worked better than symproic. On symproic I would bloat up so bad I looked 7-8 months pregnant and I'm female have had 2 children and honestly, it felt like I was carrying an 8lb baby again! I was miserable!"

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I’ve had extreme constipation for over 5 years now. I’ve tried everything OTC and prescription medications, including Movantik! I had a horrible reaction to it!!! I just started taking Symproic this week. It definitely has great results on cleansing me out, but the extreme cramping will not stop and nauseousness. It’s going on four hours today since I took it, and I’m still cramping. I don’t know which one is worse; constipation for at least a week at a time or these horrible side effects!!!"

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I have been on Opioids for 18 years for chronic pain. I have tried everything under the sun. I didn't know there are prescription meds for OIC. I didn't even know that OIC was a thing until recently. I have used Symproic for 10 days. I have had one bowel movement since. I have been wondering how long it takes for it to start working. I am reading reviews that say 1-3 hours after taking it, it works well. So I am a little confused. I haven't had any side effects of any kind except I am unable to go. I do not know what is going on, but I am getting frustrated because I cannot go. I am going back to the doctor in a few weeks, I will talk to him and see what he has to say."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I selected "opioid induced constipation" since I have been an opioid patient for 12 years. However, chronic constipation pre-dated opioid prescriptions/use by many years, due to spinal cord/nerve root crush from scoliosis. Back surgery in 1979, and 2009, and I have 18-level spinal fusion all bolted into the back of my pelvis. I previously relied on colonic irrigation for relief. I am 55 hours out from taking my first and last dose of Symproic. Within 30 minutes. I did begin to evacuate the colon. Within a couple of hours I had severe abdominal pain, racing heart, alternating sweats/chills, and my ultimate no-no, non-stop vomiting. I have barely been able to eat just a few bites since, but am finally beginning to feel that I may live through the ordeal. I was shocked to later read that 10% of clinical trial patients had this reaction, and yet it was FDA approved anyway. Just say NO and install a colonic irrigator hose in your shower, like I have relied on for over 2 decades."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I was prescribed this medicine by my pain management doc for OIC. Prior to using this for my OID I’d try to drink apple juice daily, warm prune just weekly and whenever I could remember squeeze some Miralax in. My insurance company doesn’t cover this so I was given a week sample. Then low and behold my insurance co approved a month’s supply. I’ve been taking it daily. At first(maybe the first 3 days) I had the laxative side effects. Extreme cramping and stomach aches but no fantastic movements. My typical hard to pass stools. Now I’m just about a month in and I feel I’m back to where I’ve started. It doesn’t work for me. I get better results with my natural remedies. I’m younger and have an illness where I will be on pain meds my entire life so I’m very afraid of laxative dependence therefore I was leery to try this at all. Now I regret introducing my body to this medicine for no results. After consulting my doc I will stop taking it and return to natural remedies."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I have taken Symproic for 2 years and love it. I have been on opiates for many years and always struggled with constipation. My pain management doc told me to try it and I couldn't believe how well it worked. No straining and a complete evacuation every am about 1 to 3 hrs after taking it. I also use Metamucil to make sure things are soft but this stuff has been miracle. Some folks don't get the relief, they get opioid withdrawal symptoms which is not the intended result."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "So, when I first started taking this Symproic , I thought I’d found a miracle drug. Then, night before last I got stomach cramps and vomited. Yet, I still didn’t go. Went back to bed, got up like 3 times, and finally I went. I plan on taking this only if I haven’t gone in several days. These side effects are just awful. I’m envious that some of the people on here have had no side effects!"

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I have used Symproic for 2 years and I love it. Every am like clockwork I take one and 2 hrs later I do my stuff. There is no straining or waiting or only getting a portion out. It works so well for me. You should try it if you take opiates regularly!"

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Was taking Movantik for a while and was still constipated for years when my pain management physician asked me to try Symproic a year and a half ago. It began working right away without any side effects; however, after taking it for a year, I began having short bouts of diarrhea, constant nausea, and bilateral flank pain than last summer, the diarrhea was frequent and at certain times very painful that lasted for days than I started feeling sick and these episodes started occurring every few days. Just recently I realized maybe Symproic was the cause. I stopped it and went back to Movantik four weeks ago. Since stopping Symproic, I haven't had any diarrhea. But the downside is now I'm constipated again. The Symproic worked well for my constipation for many months great then all the side effects started and are just too hard on my body. Is there something else that works for opioid-induced constipation?"

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I've been on buprenorphine for years for chronic pain due to various conditions, and the older I get the more constipated I am. I didn't want to be on another Rx, so I tried everything else first. I had an Rx for senna, but you're not supposed to take long term. Nothing worked, and I only had a BM once a week, and they were painful, hard, STUCK, so bad I couldn't eat, would get nauseous and vomit, bloated and miserable. My doctor RX'd Movantik, but my insurance wouldn't cover it, even with prior authority. Denial letter said I have to fail Symproic first, which doc Rx'd next. It was denied, but another PA and it was covered. I was excited to finally get relief! NOPE! Nothing 'til day 5, and it was the same hard, painful, SHARP, hemorrhoid inducing, not fully evacuated, BM. Also, no side effects at all! NOTE: I am 235lbs, 5' 7", female. I'm on MN Medicaid. My meds are buprenorphine, gabapentin, celecoxib, methotrexate, folic acid, Humira, cetirizine, Advair, albuterol, ondansetron, baby aspirin."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "For all those people on pain, meds looking for relief, Symproic does work, and for the first time has not caused withdrawal symptoms like all the other OIC meds up until this point. I have tried them all including self- injection. Nothing else has worked until I started taking Symproic, even under unusually difficult circumstances. What patients need to know is that before it can really work you need to be somewhat cleaned out. A mineral oil enema, or purified water that you can make at home with an enema bag will do the trick. If you get really backed up, I suggest seeing a Colon hydrotherapist. You can find them online, just make sure they’re licensed. I’ve been taking Symproic for two months, and for the most part it has worked and it feels natural. No side effects except bloating just before I go."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Only medication that works. Yes I get stomach cramps but going to the bathroom far outweighs the pain. Highly recommend. .2mg is what I take with my hydrocodone. Sometimes I get diarrhea than I take it only once a day instead of 3 times a day. Most of the time once a day is all that is required. The advantages far outweigh the side effects."
