"Omg!! I think I freaked myself out reading reviews before hand but omg IT DID NOT HURT. I'm here to give a glimmer of hope. Today was insertion day. My nurse asked when my period was and I told her it ended Monday (about a week ago). The whole procedure took maybe 7 mins really. I will say it was not the most comfortable bc well...someone is sticking a foreign object inside of you. I felt the T shape open up. And she was done. I even said "that's it"?? In disbelief. My ob told me "you did great wish everyone was like you". I say if you get regular pap smears anyway you'll be fine. Don't let the horror stories get in your head."

"I had Liletta inserted in Oct. 2016 (25 at the time, no kids). The insertion process was the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced. I had severe cramps as soon as it was inserted and continued to be in extreme pain the rest of the day. My next period was only some spotting and I have not had one since. I still experience bad cramps (not as bad as insertion day, but still painful) from time to time. I have had no weight gain or acne issues. My libido has absolutely tanked to near zero. I have almost no desire for sex, difficulty getting physically aroused leading to painful intercourse, a lack of sensation in previously sensitive erogenous zones, and orgasms are lackluster if they happen at all. All in all a real boyfriend pleaser (sarcasm). I'm planning on getting it out before the end of the month. As far as preventing pregnancy goes 10/10, you just can't beat that hormonal and lack of desire combo."

"Insertion hurt for about 5 min. I’ve never gotten a cramp in my life, I’m 20 so IUD insertion pain was something I could do if it meant no babies. Immediately after I got it I felt fatigued, dizzy, and like I was having a period. There was also heavier spotting for the rest of the day. It’s now 3 days later and there’s a little spotting, it’s so little I’m not even bothered by it. I feel a bit of irritation in my abdominal area but it’s like period/constipation irritation. It feels like I’m on my period but without the blood. I am really fatigued though. Hoping it’ll go away in the next 3 months but overall it’s not rocking the boat. If these symptoms don’t go away I wouldn’t be upset to the point of getting it out. Didn’t think I wanted kids but ever since I got this put in I’ve been a little worried about the chances of infertility. Still, I’m not mad about my decision. I’ll be back in 3-6 months to review."

"I've had the Liletta IUD for over a year and have been very pleased with it. The insertion felt like a small pinch for 20-30 seconds and wasn't too painful. I took advil afterward and had light spotting for 2 days. I've never had kids and was worried insertion might be more painful, but that was not the case. I whole-heartedly recommend the Liletta IUD. As a side note, I have noticed that I bloat more easily now from chewing gum which could be a side effect of the progrestrin. It hasn't bothered me too much though and is worth the effectiveness of Liletta. I also no longer have a period which is one of my favorite parts. I got my strings cut shorter so that I can feel them but they're not too long. Never had a partner say they can feel them either. I think it's weird others have had that experience."

"It’s been absolutely great. I had the Liletta placed almost 3 years ago and am now being told it’s good for 5 years! I spotted monthly for a while and the stopped having a monthly period altogether after about 4 or 5 months, recently began spotting on a mostly regular cycle (28 days or so) but no big deal. I will say that I do have acne, after not ever really dealing with that- even as a teenager- but it’s not anything that I can’t manage. Placement was no big deal, full disclosure I have had one child before."

"I was reading this before my liletta insertion and I was terrified. I just had mine inserted 30 minutes ago and I'm already at the gym working out. It was a little crampy when they were measuring but other than that my experience was nothing like these horror stories. No pain at all just slight discomfort, nothing more than my normal annual. This is my second iud, I had paraguard first and now this liletta and both experiences were the same. Good luck ladies"

"I have had the Liletta for 4 months now. I bled for the first 2 months pretty much every day and had been really enjoying no period since then with occasional minimal spotting. But the BIG downfall for me has been an extremely low sex drive which is NOT normal at all for me. I am very sexual, now I hardly want it. I have also been feeling very lethargic and emotionless, but I don't feel depressed. This has all changed since starting Liletta. So, I am going to get it checked out. I am hoping its all a weird coincidence but doesn't seem like it."

"I had the Mirena for the 5 years it was effective with absolutely no problems or side effects and then took a six month break. It worked so well I decided I wanted to have the same kind put back in. PP does not do Mirena any longer and I was told that Liletta was the same but lasted only 3 yrs. I went ahead and got Liletta put in 08/16. I absolutely hate it. I went in to PP in Jan and was told by another doctor that it is NOT the same. It's "generic" which is not always the same. She said many women are having the same issues I have been. She gave me a couple of things to try and help. Incl. other medications. My side effects: Constant Bleeding (maybe 5 days a month free of at least spotting) Bloating Headaches Depression Horrible craving sweets and always hungry. Breast tenderness at times to the point I could not touch my breasts even. Enough time has been given to see if things would get better. My appointment to have it removed is Tue."

"This is an update I posted when I originally got the IUD inserted and I mentioned that there was little to no initial pain upon insertion however months late I began to experience pain during sex, like extreme pain that made me almost not have sex at all with my husband I went to my OBGYN six months after insertion, my stomach my whole lower abdomen and legs were weak and trembling to the touch and requested to have it removed. Upon removal my dr noted it was stuck in my cervix lining. Pain was worse than contractions once she made contact she had to call a nurse in to help hold my legs from shaking as it was out of my control. It had tissue attached to it and I was bleeding out of control. I was given ibuprofen 800 for pain it did not touch it had to follow up to check for infections. Don’t put foreign objects in your body."

"Everyone has a different experience this one is mine. Just had the Liletta inserted today there was discomfort but quick. I’m having a lot of cramping and I feel drowsy and sore. I honestly feel like I just gave birth, I can’t find the strength to walk. If you do plan on getting the Liletta IUD just be prepared to have the rest of the day off to rest if you happen to have the same experience as I do."

"I'm not sure what other people experience months after the insertion, but I had my Liletta inserted in mid November and I have bled or have had spotting every day since insertion. I either have to use tampons or a pad depending on the day but I can never go without one or the other. It is super effective as birth control for me, as I never want to have sex with my husband per all the blood. I will be looking for an alternative birth control method."

"I've been on Liletta for 5 years. I was 24 yrs old 125 lbs Im 5'7. I'm 29 &160 lbs now. Issues I've personally had are - having the IUD implanted hurt REAL bad for me. I literally almost fainted, I felt so awful when I left. I got to my car I balled my eyes out - heavy cramps, bleeding for the next week-bleeding with some cramps for next 3 months straight (not super heavy, just normal) - extreme nausea at night to the point I feel like I'm going to puke but never do (its weird) happened when I first got the implant, has kinda dissipated now I'm at year 5 but not much-bloating, fatigue - cramps got worse for me in the last 2 years, along with my periods coming back to actually bleeding vs spotting - sex was rough for about 6 months - sexual partners stating they can feel it or it pokes them. It got rid my sex drive for about 8 months - so far no babies, no close calls. I will close with this, if you can take something else that isn't as invasive/hard on your body as this, I highly suggest it."

"I am 25, been on birth control pills for 5 years and decided to try liletta because I was tired of taking pills. I absolutely love my IUD! I wish I had got one years ago! I've had mine now about 3 weeks. Getting it inserted is not as bad as what everybody says it is. Yes it hurts, yes you cramp but it's nothing unbearable. I have been spotting since insertion, but it keeps getting lighter and lighter. I have actually lost a few pounds since getting it inserted. I would highly recommend."

"I was on Liletta for ID2 years, the insertion was extremely painful but bearable. Before the IUD, my periods were always on time and light. After getting on it my first period was 27 days long and it was super heavy, I had painful breast tenderness and horrible cramps. After a while my periods started to be 2 weeks and it would come almost every 3 weeks. It was horrible. I got BV from being on it and that was the last straw. The upside from this was that I never got pregnant."

"I'm sure by now you've seen a thousand of the reviews about the weight gain, the mood swings, the depression, and the acne that are the hallmark of Liletta users; so I will just say that in the 9 months I've had this BC that has all happened to me (minus the acne, thank god). I have also had the fun addition of constant nausea that reminds me of nothing so strongly as the never-ending morning sickness I had with my son, where I was constantly nibbling to soothe my upset stomach and ended up gaining 20 lbs in the first trimester alone. I can't trust my emotions because they're ping-ponging between sadness, detached depression, spontaneous bursting into tears, and normalcy. I used to be even-keeled before this thing was put it. And my OB said it was just like the Mirena....yeah right! At least I haven't had a period to speak of since it was installed. The dose must just be too high for me."

"The Liletta insertion was okay, it took about six to eight weeks for my uterus to get used to it. There was mild bleeding and spotting during those few weeks, but aside from that it's been great. I'm breaking out a little more and my hair is growing darker but those are mild inconveniences as compared to the nightmare that was my heavy period"

"Insertion of Liletta was extremely painful. I’ve not had children, but I’m 28 and this was some of the worst pain I have ever experienced. We decided to get the IUD because I have extreme cramps and cysts. Thinking this would help. Well, two months later, I have cramps every single day. Some days they are lower, some days they are on my right side, some days they are all over. Any amount of exercise sends my into extreme and extended cramping. I have gained 10 pounds, no interest in sex, or doing anything because I’m always in pain. The cramps are seriously unbearable. They went from a couple times a day to almost all day or anytime I move around a bit. I’m having it removed today. This has been absolutely horrible."

"Today marks 6 months with my Liletta IUD...which I love. Insertion was painful, as expected, but nothing I couldn't handle. Cramping and spotting lasted a few days after...and for the first 4 months I spotted lightly for 8-10 days, always 28 days apart...so I tracked those times as my period. Very minimal cramping aside from the early cramps due to insertion. Didn't take long for the strings to soften and curl up so my partner could not feel them during intercourse. My side effects do include weight gain and a struggle to lose it despite consistent exercise and healthy eating, and dry skin, and bloating/constipation."

"I got my liletta put in July 2016. The insertion was painful 8/10. The most pain part is when they clamp your uterus I can still remember that pain now. I never had any pregnancies. I was crampy and had some oozeing/spotting the rest of day. I pretty much nap the whole day after that. The next day everything was fine. The following month I had a very light period. After that I haven't had an true period since, I mean I get all the symptoms of period without the blood. My sex drive actually increase with being on it. No weight gain or breakouts. So far it is amazing and I love it"

"Wow where do I start…my life was turned upside down by this IUD. I gained 25 pounds and couldn’t leave my bed anymore from being so depressed. Got the IUD so I can be protected during sex with my boyfriend but it didn’t even matter because any type of sex drive I had was thrown out the window just like my energy, happiness, and social life. It isn’t worth all the terrible things it did to me. I just got it taken out and was surprised to see it was already coming out on its own. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone, not even my own enemies. However, I’m not pregnant so it did do the job. So if you don’t mind the possible side effects then it does its job."

"Got liletta on 10/13/16 and so far so good. Before it I couldn't have sex without pain and now my sex life has never been better. I had cramping the day I got it but it was gone the next morning. I did also have spotting the day of and that has gone as well. I will update in a couple of weeks but so far so good."

"I’ve had my Liletta in for about 8 months. I’m loving it! It hurt a bit during insertion and I had cramps for a few weeks after but it was nothing unbearable. No weight gain, no acne problems... it’s been great overall. The only reason it’s not a 10 is because I still get spotting every few days which is a bit annoying. Overall, I love it. I’ve tried Depo Provera and birth control pills which caused my breasts to ache and chronic mood swings. I 100% would recommend Liletta. I got it for free at planned parenthood too."

"The insertion wasn't bad. It did hurt, but I took Tylenol to help with the pain. I've had it for about a month now. My body is still getting used to it, but it is great so far. Don't let the bad reviews stop you from getting it. Everyone's body is different."

"I LOVE my IUD! It's so worth the 2 minutes of pain to have 3+ years of not worrying or taking a pill. Got mine inserted at pp and it was free and they were all very nice and let me lay down for 15 min afterward. I had been on the pill for a couple years and had not had my period in a while, my first period after the IUD lasted 9 days. After that I had a couple days of spotting each month and now, about 3 months later, I have no period at all. I have no skin or mood issues with this IUD, and minimal bloating. This is so worth it to have no period or worries about pregnancy."
