"I've have lilletta for 3 years now. I've have had no major complications at all. My mood does have an array of emotions but that's just how I am. My skin sometimes does break out yes but it's never serious. My secret is hair skin and nails gummies. Loaded with keratin and vitamins. E. You can find them at your local dollar store. On my face and chest and shoulders but it's never been too serious. I recently went to see my gynecologist and she told me I was good for another 2 years maybe longer. I said okay but I've had spotting recently, which I haven't have since August of 2017, 6 months after insertion. Also I've had some fatigue recently, I work 2 jobs currently and I didn't feel like that when I worked 16 hours a day 6 days a week during summer season. I do experience cramping every so often, which again I haven't had since August of 2017. Last but not least, weight gain. I've gained around 10 lbs in the last 4 months, but I work about 40 hours a week now. As to why I don't know."

"I think IUDs are a different experience for every woman because we all have different bodies. For me, Liletta has worked wonderfully! The insertion felt like bad cramping, but not unbearable. I've noticed some women on here are saying that they didn't bleed long after Liletta insertion which is awesome, but my experience was that I spotted for a few weeks after with some occasional bad cramping, which I didn't feel like it was a big problem for me. A few months later my periods are consistent and I only get some slight cramping before periods. I used to have horrible cramps and heavy periods but now my periods have become lighter and the cramps are not nearly as bad!"

"I had this IUD put in almost two years ago. Pro: I'm not pregnant. Cons: Constant spotting still to this day, no sex drive, can feel it every now and then, and my boyfriend can feel it but has gotten used to it. I'm not sure why everyone says it hurt to be put in, because mine didn't. I did have to go back to have the string cut even more because it actually started to come out of me. Personally - I wouldn't recommend getting this product. I will be taking mine out as my boyfriend has realized how annoying the spotting is. Can't wear any cute underwear because you never know when the spotting will start up and not having a sex drive is a killer. Why have an IUD if you don't even have a sex drive..?!"

"I’ve had my liletta for a little more than 3 years. During the insertion I felt a little cramping for a minute, my doctor suggested me to take ibuprofen because It could get painful during the day. After 30min I started to have the worse cramps in my life! I didn’t even asked for the day off ahead because I thought I would be fine but no, so it was a very rough day. After that, I got my period some days later and I bleed for about a month! No cramping, not a lot of blood but I was concerned and mad. My doctor said it was normal, that I should worry just if I was bleeding like the pad can’t hold the blood. Then I had a second period that lasted for two weeks. After that, it started to get better. I don’t get my periods just some little spotting for a day once or twice a month, didn’t gain weight (I’ve lost about 15 pounds) no acne, no pregnancy! The annoying side effects that still have are: my libido went down and I have some random cramps that last less than a minute"

"These reviews were so intense I felt like I needed to add my experience... the insertion experience for me was nothing like I see described here. It took only a matter of minutes from start to finish. It wasn't pain free obviously I'd say 5/6 out of 10. But it lasted seconds. I have given birth one time and it was not even close to comparable. I was crampy on the drive back to work but worked the rest of the day with some motrin and no issues. I had some lower back pain the first few days on and off but nothing crazy. I had instant relief from the annoyance of the pill. My skin is clear and I've had no changes in diet to speak of. Overall so far so good."

"I just got Liletta removed after giving it a chance for 7 months. I never had an issue with cramps before, but from day 1 on this IUD I had unbearable cramps. After the first few weeks I talked to my doctor who suggested I wait it out, but after 7 months of pain I give up. Within a few minutes of having it removed I experienced relief and am starting to feel normal again. My back pain, abdominal cramps and upper thigh pain disappeared. Everyone's body is different, but I WOULD NOT recommend this to anyone. The pain and irregular bleeding are effective birth control because you won't want to have sex anyway. Back to birth control pills for me!"

"I’m 47 years old. Had this birth control for since May 2018. Used to take the Depo shot. Insertion was no problem. I was fine at first. Over the year and a half, I have gained 30 lbs, depressed, tired, bloated, lack of sex drive and moody. I eat very well, work out and can gain pounds quickly and lose them slowly. My doctor didn’t think the BC was the cause. Ran tests for thyroid and pre-menopause and those tests were negative. I truly believe this BC is the cause and I plan on having it removed immediately. I haven’t had a period on over four years. So I don’t know what will happen. But I would rather deal with a period than weight gain."

"I have only had the Liletta for about 3 weeks. Insertion was extremely painful. I thought it was only supposed to hurt during insertion, not after as well. I felt bloated for the first 3 days. However, I went and did yoga, ran on the treadmill, and hiked the very next day after insertion. No problem. I only spotted lightly for 3 days (not enough to even wear an actual pad). I have experienced vaginal dryness during intercourse, which was NEVER a problem. I did some reading, and apparently this is a common side effect. No mood swings, no weight gain, no depression. Just a little bit of acne on my chin/jawline, but nothing extreme. However, knowing that I have the most effective form of birth control (after tubal ligation and abstinence) gives me such a huge relief that I will handle the dryness issue. I love this IUD thus far. Will update a few months from now after I have experienced a few cycles on it."

"I had liletta placed in February 2016. It was very painful. Heavy bleeding for two straight months . then my period became lighter and regular. Its is now October 2016. 8 months after having it placed I found out I was 6 weeks pregnant with the iud still in place. I got the iud removed right away."

"Cons 1. My mood is horrible, I've been so angry and volatile that I have been in fights. 2. I gained 40 pounds. I weighed 145lb and now I rest at 186lb. I have drastically changed my diet and exercise to be very healthy. I count calories, work out every day. Eat healthy food. I can't lose it. 3. I have a period every 2 weeks. Light, but it lasts 5-7 days sometimes. I am barely ever NOT bleeding. 4. Today I began bleeding VERY heavily very suddenly. No reason for it. (This is why I started researching and the reason I found this thread) 5. My acne is not the worst it's ever been, but it is the most consistent. I have a routine I use every day, I have medicated acne cream, and I still get deep and painful cystic acne every day. Pros 1. I'm not pregnant? 2. My boobs are big I want to get it removed, but due to my insurance not being active and the fact that its 200$ out of pocket to get it removed, I guess I'll live with it until my new insurance kicks in."

"I have had Liletta for a little over a year and I am finally having it removed. I have wanted it removed for about 9 months and have had several doctors advise against it. Since beginning Liletta I have had severe cystic acne breakouts, heightened anxiety, depression, ovarian cysts, and weight gain. It had been one of the worst decisions of my life having this placed and had been an utter pain. I would not suggest this product to anyone. I read several reviews before having Liletta placed and tried to remain optimistic however this product did not work for me at all. The side effects greatly outweighed the benefit of having an IUD."

"I was 109 pounds the day I got Liletta inserted. That was in June 2019 and it is now November 2019. I am almost 130 lbs which is the most I have ever weighed in my life. I have frequent UTI’s and vaginal discharge. About once a month, my breasts swell and become extremely sensitive. I am very unhappy with the side effects from Liletta and want it removed. My insurance did not cover the cost of this so it was paid out of pocket. That is the only thing holding me back from making an appointment today. The only pro is not having a period and not having to worry about pregnancy."

"This hormonal birth control Liletta gave me the worse breakout ever . I read about acne side effects before putting this IUD but since I never had acne before so I was thinking maybe it won’t happen to me - but I was wrong . Talked to my dr about my new acne and she prescribed me some acne medications but they didn’t work at all. I was bleeding for 3 months straight, had it taken out last week and my acne it’s disappearing like instantly. Don’t recommend this IUD"

"I had my IUD inserted during my cesarean, yes I was told it could come out of place more easily because of the uterus and childbirth. During my postpartum visit my ob couldn’t find my strings so I had an ultrasound to check placement-everything was ok with that thankfully. My sex drive is almost nonexistent, which would be great to prevent pregnancy lol but not for my partner. The bleeding - I’ve had two cycles I believe in almost 4 months pp..I did had some constant mid cycle bleeding but it’s seems to have leveled out. It definitely effects my moods - like I’m not a crier at all but I could easily cry over some situations, I am easily irritated and get flustered. When I did ask my provider about my moods and bleeding, it was made to seem it’s “not enough hormone” something like that but its 100% noticeable changes. This time next year I plan to have it removed."

"Got my liletta IUD November 2018, definitely take someone with you and plan to do nothing that day. I got it on my period & took a lot of Advil before but it was super painful for me but I was fine. My cramping lasted a few months off and on and then finally calmed down. Got married that following December and now it’s been almost a year and a half since I’ve gotten it and no side effects that I know of! I still have regular periods, but I’m talking super light, like spotting! Overall not a terrible experience! This is the only birth control I’ve been on, taking it out next month to try to conceive!"

"I have had no notable problems with the liletta IUD. I have gained weight maybe 20lbs but that is probably my own fault from stress eating and such. My periods got lighter then after a year and a half went away. I was not a fan of birth control pills they made me moody and made my periods heavier. This will be my preferred birth control for the rest of my life. Just put it in and forget about it for a couple of years. It’s like nothing is there and nothing is different. Perfect for a 20 year old like me who wants to wait a few years to get everything in order before having kids. I am glad to have found a birth control that works great for me. Sadly everyone is different so don’t let others bad stories turn you away from it, different things work for different people. The only way to really know if this will work for you is to try it yourself. And to me the idea of 3-5 years of birth control with no effort is worth any rumored and rare side effects/ concerns."

"I have had my Liletta in for a few months and as of today for the past 4 days I've had SEVERE ANXIETY, headaches and weird chest pains. Having it removed tomorrow I'm so scared. Hopefully after the removal the anxiety will go away. I feel like I can't breathe."

"I got Liletta 10 months ago. I am 22yrs old, 165lbs, 6' tall, and very athletic. Insertion hurt, but it was not unbearable for me even without pain meds and lasted a VERY short amount of time. I was fine during and immediately after, but once I stood up I got very nauseous and almost passed out. After I laid down for a few minutes I was fine. I spent the rest of the day with cramps and a headache. The next afternoon I was fine to return to my job. After that, I lightly bled for about 3 months, with cramps on my period that were so bad at night to the point where I had to take advil and lay down. I think I was a more moody than usual as well. The next few months my period was light with light cramps and was 3-11days. Month 10 I don't know if I got my period or not because it was so light. I have not gained or lost any weight and have experienced no sign of body, mood, or sex drive changes. As an athlete it did not change my performance. I give it a 9 because the string is hard to find"

"I LOVE MIRENA. My doctor (who must work for Liletta) kept telling me it's the same even though it's a 3 year FDA approved product vs 5 year and doesn't have labeling for heavy periods. Since my Doc swore up and down that she thought it was the same as Mirena, I finally said I'll try it. It's not the same. I don't know why she forced me to use it. I'm going to a different doctor to remove this Liletta and go back to the Mirena I was happy with---if you want a Mirena, demand Mirena-- the Liletta was bigger and hurt more inserting it and doesn't help my periods!!!"

"Seeing all of these bad reviews, I feel inclined to share a different side. I got Liletta last Friday (August 11, 2017), so today marks day 6 with the device. The insertion was very, very painful. I was not on my period for the appointment, as your doc should be able to do it either way. At its worst, the pain made me feel close to passing out, and I did throw up immediately afterward. My doctor told me this is normal. I stayed horizontal for about 20 minutes afterwards since I drove myself to the appointment and didn't want to make myself sick again. I have had spotting on and off since then, but very very light. Regarding the string, my boyfriend could not feel it during sex, and sex was not painful at all. Will keep you all updated."

"I'm 24, previously taking oral contraceptives for 9 years. I'm giving this 5 because it is effective in the most basic sense. I no longer worry about getting pregnant or taking pills and my periods are regular and very light. However I am one year in and planning to get it removed because of the side effects. First, the insertion was incredibly painful for me followed by excruciating cramps. The first 6 months was radical mood swings, acne, weight gain and cramping that gradually stabilized. I'm a year in now though and I'm finding it hard to work off the weight, I'm still very emotional, my skin is bad (possibly unrelated but my eczema has come back), low sex drive. I gave it a chance but I'd rather take pills/use condoms and be happy."

"I had Liletta inserted January 2018 at Planned Parenthood. After insertion, I was bleeding for about 2 months. It was pretty heavy. Today, July 21, 2019 I still have it in me. I want it removed, following me gaining 30 lbs. This IUD gives me SEVERE anxiety, depression, agitation. I always feel tired, my legs get swollen, and I just randomly started spotting. I wonder if it moved its placement a bit. Scheduling an appointment to remove it."

"My Dr gave me a pill to take in preparation for the insertion of liletta and I didn’t experience any real pain. I have had this in since having my daughter, for about 18 months and have never had a controlled cycle. Originally I bled for months non stop. The dr and reviews said to wait it out and that it should stop. Finally after 6-8 months, the sporadic daily bleeding/spotting stopped but I still felt like I was always bleeding. Here is my typical month - period starts and last for 8-10 days, spot off and on for next 10 days, then period starts again. This is ruining my life (not even being dramatic). I would rather just take my risk and get pregnant than bleed all month. I have an appointment for removal next week. My Dr wants to try another brand that doesn’t have this as a top side effect. Wish me luck!"

"I had Liletta inserted in the beginning of September (5ish months ago), The insertion was painful and I almost passed out. I had severe abdominal cramps the rest of the day and night. The next day they improved and then I barely had any cramping pain by the third day. About 3 weeks later I had my period which ended up lasting for 29 days straight, but since then I have not had any period. Also 3 weeks after insertion I started losing A LOT of hair, maybe hormonal from suddenly stopping the combo pills and switching to an IUD. I am still shedding a lot and have dandruff now which I never had before. I developed bad cystic acne for about 2 months which has now improved, but my skin is not as clear as it used to be. Also do not let them cut the string really short as it can be uncomfortable for a partner who is well endowed since it pokes them. My partner preferred it longer because it didn't poke as much (the string was cut on my follow up appointment 1 month after insertion)."

"I've had Liletta for about 2 weeks and I've had a great experience. I didn't take pain meds for the insertion. It hurt, but you can get through it. It only takes like 2 minutes and then it's over. I had moderate/mild cramping for about 6 hours after. I just went home and went to bed. When I woke up in the morning I had zero pain. I had mild bleeding for 2 days, but it's hard to tell if that was from the IUD or my normal period. My insurance covered it 100% and now I don't have to worry about birth control for 3 years! I wanted to share my experience because I feel like a disproportionate amount of people writing reviews had bad experiences. Keep that in mind and don't let the reviews scare you. IUDs are awesome!"
