Tresiba (insulin degludec) "I have been on Tresiba for 4 days and already have a raging UTI. No one would admit that it could be the insulin, but found proof online that it is very common among older women with type 2 diabetes. I am stopping it immediately since it will probably become recurring. Anyone else have this problem with it?"

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "My blood glucose was under control with readings around 100. I was taking long acting insulin twice a day and short acting 3 times a day. My doc insisted I switch to tresiba (50u). My appetite has increased, especially craving for carbs. My fasting morning blood glucose is often over 200"

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "My Dr. Prescribed this insulin call Tresiba because my A1C was around 7. I have been taking it about 2 weeks now and I feel horrible . I feel nauseous and my stomach feels bloated. Prior to this I was taking kombiglyze XR for 5 years but it wasn't keeping my a1c down enough , but I didn't have these nasty side effects (only loose stools but that didn't bother me because I can easily get constipated)"

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "I take Tresiba 50 units at night for almost 8 months now combine it with Janumet XR 100/ 1000 in the morning and 5 units of Novo Rapid with light carb lunch or 10units with full lunch. I buy all my medicine in the Philippines which is cheaper there. My total MED expense a month is around $ 200 with no RX insurance but just senior citizen discount. Here my co pay for just Januvia for 90 days supply is $800 while in Manila My wife can buy it for $1 a tablet of 100 mg Januvia. So for 90 days she spends only $90 against the $ 800 co pay here in US. Tresiba I heard will cost me $ 750 copay for a 90 days supply in USA another $750 co pay for Novo Rapid. Life is cheaper for diabetics in Philippines."

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "I have only been taking tresiba for 3 days (43 units in the morning) but my readings are quite a bit lower after meals and I am using less of my novalog. The fluctuation of highs to normal isn't so frequent and is staying more stable and in a healthy range. No nausea, headaches or any side effects. I will say that I tried victoza last year and that stuff was like poison. The nausea and migraines were unbearable. I have never tried Lantus"

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "Been diabetic since 2001. Was on oral meds till 2007 and then was put on Insulin (Humalog and Lantus). CVS-Caremark stopped covering Lantus and so in March 2017 I switched to Tresiba. My A1C improved dramatically. My last reading was 6.5 which is a number I have not seen in a long time. I also find that taking the shot is easier (I always felt a burn with Lantus). I am glad CVS forced my endo to change my insulin."

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "My husband had a very bad reaction to this drug. After two days of taking it, he started developing a few itchy spots under his armpits which he initially thought were insect bites. 24 hours later he developed an itchy rash all over his body, his face swelled up and he looked sunburnt, he was urinating frequently, had slurred speech, and anxiety, and said he felt like his body was on fire. Discontinued use but a week later his symptoms are only just starting to subside."

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "Tresiba used to come with needles but no more. Now in addition to having to pay exorbitant amounts for the medicine, I now have to pay $72 for the needles? As a retired widow, things are hard enough and this just makes it harder. Please reconsider putting needles back in the packages."

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 10 years ago, found through routine bloodwork. I was immediately put on meal time insulin, but we discovered very quickly that I am extremely sensitive to insulin. About 4-5 years ago I was put on Tresiba. I was only using 5 units a day, but went up to about 8 about 3 weeks ago. I've been feeling terrible lately, so I thought back and realized very slowly I was getting progressively worse and worse with the way I felt. My side effects have been: some form of a headache every night from slight to debilitating; horrible joint pain mainly in my fingers and toes, itchy, congested ears, hoarse voice, blurry bad vision, depression, constant fatigue, zero libido (I'm a female), all over the place readings for no apparent reason, high fasting numbers and more. Also my A1C over the years keeps creeping up and up and up. I just switched back to a sulphonyrea, I'm so thankful! I wanted to share to let people know these things aren't just in their head!"

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "If you are a type 1 diabetic, do not use this insulin. I repeat, do not use this insulin. The first day everything was okay. The second day disaster struck. Low blood sugars all day long. Blood Sugar of 55, drank a bunch of Gatorade, 30 minutes later blood sugar 55. Same thing all day long. 75 at dinner around 7 p.m. I ate dinner and 30 minutes later was still 75 without any short acting insulin. Around 2 a.m. BS was 200. Took short acting insulin every hour through the night to try to keep BS down and at 7 am was.still 180. I am back on Levemir. I can not believe the FDA ever approved this insulin. I am rating this insulin a 1 because I can not rate any lower."

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "I have been on Tresiba for only 5 days - I cannot get my sugars to drop below 200 - they are actually more in the high 2s / low 3s. We are working with the dose - started at 20U (200U pen) and high all the time - now I'm on 26U - still high. The doc said give this 3 more days then increase to 32U. I am not having any other side effects. I was on metformin (took myself off that) and a pump which was not working very well. So I am hoping that once we get the dose figured out it will be worth it. I am also starting on Ozempic but have only had one dose so far. I'm trying to be optimistic - as I am really loving not having to wear a pump - honestly - this keeps me more honest - when I can dose for food - it gave me more freedom to cheat!"

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "Started Tresiba 2 years ago, from day one I would wake up in the morning and could not see my vision was dark and blurred, I told the doctor and he said my eyesight was adjusting to the insulin since then I have had laser surgery and a vitreous surgeries on both eyes. My hair falls out every day. I have been off the insulin for a week now and through diet and exercise I have been able to manage my sugar blood levels and my hair has stopped falling out, my eyesight has improved."

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "After four weeks of of getting chronically tired worsening every day since starting 12 units of daily Tresiba I was taken off this insulin and given back my former insulin NOVILIN..... It was like a heavy fog lifting and I began returning to normal. I warn all to be suspicious of the Tresiba . if you are taking it and start getting brain fog or getting more and more tired ....get off it asap. Do not accept tweaks.... They do not work. I ,myself, was too zonked to take action thank goodness my husband got fed up with his "ZOMBIE" wife and petitioned my doctor with the data and medical observations."

I kept thinking about the poor cleaning lady what a mess she would have to clean up - she probably quit the next day. I WAS SO SO SICK!"

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "Type 1 diabetic since I was in my 30's, never had any issues with any kind of dizziness, blacking out, wooziness... even when my glucose was SO HIGH, a reading with a glucose meter only produced a HIGH reading.. not EVEN a number. I was told by a doctor that your body does what it does, so I never took it seriously. That is until they medical profession started scaring people with this A1C crap and your body not producing insulin! I started taking it seriously then and started taking Tresiba SERIOUSLY now since 2015, originally starting at 30 units a day without any incidents at all! Because of my circumstances with my wife having dementia in 2016, I was not eating on a schedule, mostly processed foods, and increased my insulin intake to 2 shots a day, 12 hours apart at 30 units each, my A1C was around 8.2%, increased to 14.8%, and it's now down to around 10.4% & 10.2% the last 2 blood tests... now test my glucose 2 times a day for the last 3 months, adjusting units each shot. ERRATIC"

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "My insurance dropped Basaglar, so my doctor put me on Tresiba. I guess it's a little better than Basaglar, which is not saying much. I've never had as good control of my blood glucose levels since insurance dropped Lantus. Personally, I think all of these man-made insulins have their limitations. If your body is already resistant to your own insulin, I'm pretty sure a man-made one won't be much better. I'm trying to go in a different direction and avoid the rabbit hole of more and more insulin. At least Tresiba has better overlap coverage, which does seem to work better overnight."

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "My insurance dropped coverage for Basaglar so my doctor switched me to Tresiba. Actually, I think it was a good move since taking Tresiba for a month now my BGL fasting levels are far more consistent and lower. Typically, on Basaglar my fasting levels were 150-200 and now average less then 140 and many times 120's. I have also used Novolog for big meals but have recently started on Jardiance to try and reduce insulin intake. I was never impressed with Basaglar so was glad to try something else."

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "I've been taken Tresiba for almost 2 years and have not experience bad side effects, works great for me in combination with 1500mg of metformin XL, my diabetes is well in control, A1C consistently below 7. I took lantus for years before the doctor switched me to tresiba after a long discussion and I'm so glad we did the switch, I don't have any other big health concerns maybe that's why works for me."

Tresiba (insulin degludec) "I have just been given Tresiba 10 units. My blood sugar is uncontrollable. At first, I changed my diet without meds, and I kept blood levels around 100 to 200. A year later, it changed. My blood levels were 400+. Trying to get a doctor's appointment took 3 months. I can't go to the ER. I don't trust them. They left me in a room for 4 hours without telling me I need emergency heart surgery and let me walk out. The doctor said I was looking for a heart surgeon and failed to tell me anything."
