Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "Orthovisc was one of the biggest mistakes I ever made. The doctor said this would help my osteoarthritis but it is much worse than when we started. The first shot was very painful, second much worse. The doctor convinced me to have all four shots. Now I can hardly walk, in constant pain. So sorry I had the orthovisc shots. They should be off the market."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "I just had my first injection both knees a few days ago. When I came home from the clinic, I ran down to the basement to get something and noticed right away my knees felt better. I had really bothersome aching in my knees at night, that is gone. So far, I am very impressed."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "I have been very active in many sports all my life. I am now 80 and for the last 30 years I have played tennis 2 to 4 times a week. Eight months ago my right knee was bone on bone and I was having trouble maintaining my tennis regimen. So I had 3 shots of Orthovisc over 3 weeks with remarkable results. The shots were minimally painful and worked like a charm as I was soon back on the courts. It has now been almost 9 months and I continue to be pain free. My doctor has recommended another 3 shots, which I just started, to maintain my good results."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "My first round of orthovisc I was told would last 6 to 9 months for my bone on bone knee pain. The shots were painless and I was pain free for two years. Now I am back for my second round. It sure beats knee replacement which was my only other option. I am having pain again so I am ready for round two. Hope it lasts as long this time. I highly recommend it."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "Had my third shot today; bi-lateral. I have to say I have seen a major improvement in both knees. I would wake up at night and go to turn over, my lower leg would not move and my upper leg (above the knee) would pop and grind on the joint. When this happens now I can feel the upper and lower joints cushioned by the Orthovisc. I felt relief about 3 weeks after the first set of shots. I am confident that after the 3rd set of shots I will have the pain relief I am looking for. I would recommend to anyone give this a try before you have total knee replacement."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "I believe that more often than not that negative posts are more prevalent than positive posts on these feeds. I have had several 3 series gel injections and before that tried the single dose injections. I get some relief from them. Especially if it overlaps with a cortisone shot. By no means do they last 6 months. Yes my knee is cranky after the shots. I think the second one is the worst. My knee does not catch as much. Takes a little time for the knee to get use to the fullness and soreness subsides but I get several months of relief after. I’m a candidate for full knee replacement and I just haven’t committed to it yet. As knee gets worse the shots seem to get more uncomfortable. It’s a bandaid. Knee pain goes from a 9 to 6 after."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "This is my 3rd time for injections but it has been 7 yrs. since the last one. The shots hurt so much I cried. (I am 66 and need replacement surgery). The doc did the injections with my knees bent, he said, because the cartilage is gone and it creates a bigger space. It's been 5 hrs since the injections. Feels better, icing every hour. Hope next week is better."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "This is my third round of orthovisc. My great fear was the pain during the injections as well as after. I got the first round last Monday. The first knee was killer! For the other knee she used lidocaine type medicine and then the orthovisc. Easy peazy!!!!! I am eager to get back on my bike and ride until winter gives me no choice but to stay indoors. I am grateful for orthovisc. I've had 3 years of success - although I do NOT recommend waiting a year between treatments. It was a bad decision for me."

Monovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "I have Chondromalacia and arthritis in my knees with the left being worse. I had steroid injection in the left which didn't seem to help much. Several months later I had the Monovisc injected. There was a lot of pressure at the time of injection. Within a few days it gave a lot of relief for about 6 months. I had a second injection 2 and a half weeks ago. The actual injection was about the same, but as soon as I started walking I had pain and I told the nurse I didn't remember it hurting like this last time. To make a long story short, for a few days after the injection the pain was bad. I had to use a cane to walk, and there was no way I could use stairs. Since then the pain has decreased, but my knee is more painful than before the injection. I sent a message to my provider. He responded that he had a couple of other patients that had the same type of reaction after second injection, and that they had no improvement. Maybe it will improve, but I won’t do this again"

Hymovis (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "I have had other hyaluronic acid injections and Hymovis was a lot better in my opinion. The other injections did work, but not as good as Hymovis. Plus, Hymovis seems to last longer for me. My knee did feel a little wobbly for about a day after the injections."

Hymovis (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "Had the Hymovis injections, 2 per knee one week apart. The pain three weeks after the injections was beyond unbearable. Slowly got some pain relief a few weeks after. Only lasted 4-5 weeks and then the pain came back with a vengeance. Three months post injections and the pain is much worse than my original condition. I absolutely can not recommend this $3000 dollar an ounce German vasoline Regrets all the way down the line. I would definitely suggest going with a different product, something with a better track record. As far as I am concerned this product should never be used on any human being!"

Monovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "I would not recommend Monovisc. I'm 37 years old with significant OA in my knee, and it started with a bone chip injury when I was 21. The injection itself was painful enough to make me cry, and I'm not a crier. (note to Orthopedics - cold spray before injection does NOTHING!!) I experienced extreme pain in the 2 weeks following the injection. Four and a half months later, my knee is worse than it was before - more acute pain, joint feels weaker, and I need to rest and wear my knee brace more often. I love to be active, and OA hinders this. :-("

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "orthovisc is like any injection: the injector is the key; not every doctor, esp. a pa. is a great injector; I had horrible knee pain at night, took MRI, had a torn miniscus, flap tear and I guess some arthritis; anyway, did my 4 injections with great orthopod, who uses ultra sound guidance while injecting; as I remember, the first round of 4 was ok; had a 2nd round of 4 and have been totally pain free for over 3 years. So thats my story. Be very, very careful about the dr. you are working with. Read the above about the man with bone on bone; my girlfiriend, after surgery was bone on bone and was told she would never play tennis again; she went on orthovisc for the last nine years , and is still playing singles. She is 73."

Monovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "Tore first meniscus in 2011--dog knocked me down. First orthopedist offered nothing - she likes surgery. Second offered cortisone--no help. Third offered orthovisc and I had a great experience for 8 years. Tore my good knee (meniscus and muscles) when Medicare would not let me get injection a month early. Treated the injured knee immediately with Orthovisc and it helped a lot. Makes a big difference in how the provider administers the injection. Lost my best injection giver and went to her boss (ortho surg) who did awesome and talked me into Monovisc. Relief is slower than with the 3 shots -- it has been 3 weeks but I am still hopeful. Vastly better than cortisone, nothing, or Synvisc (which did nothing). Have seen too many patients suffering after knee surgery--I will stick with Mono or Orthovisc."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "I just had my second injection on 12/2--one more on 12/9. The first injection was very painful and my knee was sore for two days. The second injection did not hurt at all and my knee was fine immediately after. This knee pain has been going on for two years and I finally have relief. I'm just hoping it lasts longer than 6-months. I would definitely advise anybody who has this problem to at least try it. It is working for me!"

Monovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "About 11 months ago I received the single dose Monovisc. It was painful to receive the shot and the pressure was great as it was injected. It took about 3 weeks for me to feel better. Before the shot I had a high level of constant pain from bone-on-bone on the outer edge of my knee. A pocket of fluid had formed on the outside for weeks and I had been waking up with knee pain during the night for quite some time. This greatly improved my knee pain. It didn't take me to 0 pain but definitely reduced it. About 5 weeks ago, I felt the pain creeping up, the fluid forming and began to wake up during the night on occasion. I called the doctor and scheduled the next one, which I'll get in a few days. Better than pain or surgery!"

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "I have arthritis in both knees. One is severe bone on bone the other is moderate. So they started injections in my left knee first as the right one wasn't bothering me too much as the cortizone shots was still slightly effective. So got two shots not too bad as far as pain. Go get the 3rd one and the doctor didn't take her time like before to find just the right spot and she injected me. As soon as she started putting the fluid into my knee I felt a burning liquid feeling going from the injection site (the outside of my knee to the inside of my knee) It didn't stop there. It felt as she put more in like my knee was going to explode out the side. I was not expecting that. I just held my breath and when she was done I said. Wow that hurt. Why"

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "Osteoarthritis in right knee eventually lead to bone on bone. After my last scope Nov. 2015, the pain persisted to where I had a steroid injection. It relieved some of the pain for 2 months (considered non-effective according to FDA), then the excruciating pain returned. Last nonsurgical option was Orthovisc, which all 3 injections were very painful. I didn't experience relief until 2-3 weeks after the last injection. I have been pain free, with an occasional very brief episode (seconds) of some pain. Now it's October 2017, and it's been wearing off. But 12 months worth of no pain was definitely worth it. So glad I toughed it out!"

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "Did not work for my minimal OA! I was left with Orthovisc as my only alternative after my insurance company decided they would no longer cover Euflexxa which I used with great success for 4 years. I will now have to pay almost $1000 out of pocket for the better product, such a shame! Orthovisc gave me no relief at all; The Euflexxa I was getting 18 months on continuous relief."

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "I'm 50 years old and overweight. I had a torn meniscus repair (R) in July 2011. I have osteoarthritis in both my knees. I had a cortizone injection in my (R) knee and felt okay for a week, still taking medicines, still in pain. Had the 3 shots of Orthovisc in November and never received any relief. Changed medication (meloxicam) and was given pain medicines. Pain medicines work if I take two, but it really upsets my stomach. "

Orthovisc (hyaluronan) for Osteoarthritis "I started the knee injection on July 31, 2018 and completed 3 injections in both knees on Sept 5, 2018. 5 weeks since my last injection and knees are greatly improved. I am 71 years old. The weeks prior to this week, were worrisome. I was thinking they were not going to work. But this week has shown great improvement. I started riding my three wheel bicycle and that has helped a lot. I would highly recommend the injections, however, I would add , listen to your doctor and rest for 48 hours and go slow. Expect it to take several week to show improvement. Well, worth it"
