"I have really good experience with Nexpalnon. After insertion my arm was sore about a week, after that I could go back to my gym and daily routine. It doesn't bother me at all. No migraines, no gain weight, no skin problems. My mood is the same maybe even better, I'm not that moody like before. I was some irregular bleeding about a month but it was very little. After a month I don't have period (hallelujah) and no bleeding at all. Only disadvantage I found is my libido. I noticed my sex drive changed quite significantly. I really recommend it !"

"I have tried many birth control methods (the pill, an IUD, NuvaRing, etc.) and I hated every one of them until I got the Nexplanon. I've had it for a couple of months and I can't even feel the rod inside my arm. I have very minimal side effects (occasional spotting) and I even lost some weight. I also don't feel different, emotionally, which is good. Overall, this is by far the best birth control I have ever tried."

"I got Nexplanon inserted at my 6 week checkup after having my daughter in July 2014. I have experienced 20lb weight gain since, severe cramps, depression, nonexistent libido and nauseousness. Definitely works as birth control, but isn't worth the side effects."

"I've had Nexplanon for about three years, and recently got it renewed. I've had a lot of sex, and not once did I ever get pregnant. I never gained weight while on this product, and I've eaten the same way. Really the only issue is I get anxious a lot more easily, and my period didn't completely stop, but everybody's body reacts differently. Personally, nexplanon is great for me, but it definitely isn't for everybody."

"I’ve never written a review for any medication but I felt the need to warn other women about this birth control. I got my implant in Oct 2020 and Dec 15 I’m getting it removed. It’s been an absolutely nightmare. It doesn’t come with cramps but it’s sometimes extremely heavy and other times very light. At this point I have no idea when it’s coming as it literally comes every 2 or 3 days sometimes lasting for 2 weeks. The longest one was about 16 days which was extremely heavy. I have also been feeling depressed. I get panic attacks from the sun going down because my mood drastically declines when it gets dark. I have never experienced any of these symptoms and don’t have a history of any kind of mental health illnesses. I am afraid to be home alone due to the intrusive thoughts I’ve been having and everyone around me has noticed I haven’t been myself. Please take caution and research this method throughly before getting it implanted. Wish you all health and happiness."

"*DO NOT TRY THIS PRODUCT*!!!!!!! This is my first time, trying nexplanon. Its been TWO weeks and I am actually having it removed TODAY!! All the reviews I've read are accurate and the side effects are immediate, I have anxiety, anger, depression, empty feeling, want to be secluded and that's just mental. Physically dizzy, nauseous, diarrhea, itching face, the area of insertion itches something wicked, like I'm rejecting it... sweating, chills, insomnia. Please don't take the chance without doing your homework first and 99.99% of everyone asked that have and used this thing hated it and or bled for MANY months at a time :("

"Starting Nexplanon about four months ago (7/20/13), yesterday (11/20/13) I had it removed. At first it was alright then a couple weeks in I started being moody which I didn't notice was the birth control. All the while having my period which didn't stop for the whole 4 months except days here and there. Four days ago I felt symptoms come back even worse; experiencing mood swings, manic depression, suicidal thoughts, back pain, anxiety, heavy period. I could only take a couple days of this before I needed it out."

"This is the only thing that seemed to help my horrible periods, as it got rid of them completely, but it made my depression so much worse that it's just not worth it for me. I'm sad though, because other than that this worked so well for me. If you don't have problems with depression its worth a try."

"I've had it for about 4 months now. I had it put in at my 6 week checkup after having my son. I was losing a lot of weight before I had it. Then my weight loss just stopped. I've gained so much. My sex life is non existent. I'm constantly feeling depressed. And I have no period, I prefer to have it."

"I have been on Nexplanon for about 7 months now. I thought I would be fine because both my sisters have had it for years. The first month I started having panic attacks, it was so bad that at work I would run to my boss crying because I needed to go home. I was so scared for uni to start. I ended up going to the doctors they didn’t understand why. I started uni in September and I was fine for the most part. It’s now March and I have been having anxiety pains in my chest, the back of my head, the left side of my body, and shots of pain in my elbow right under where the Nexplanon was implanted. I finally started to worry about it. I’ve dealt with it for to long and I’m at the point it is just not worth it. I don’t want this to control me anymore. Just remember everyone is different. I am now getting it out this week or next week. I do recommend it because it did help me a lot. But if you are getting anxiety symptoms, don’t let it get worse. You should get it out."

"I'm on the second year of having Nexplanon. At first, I loved having it because I didn't have to remember to take the pill every day and my periods stopped all together. Then the 2nd year I started getting random spotting and now I have been having my period for 3 months on and off, weeks at a time. I thought it would go away, but it continuously happens, so I'm getting it taken out. Its a highly effective birth control especially since I get my period every week now. I haven't experienced any weight gain or mood swings at all though!"

"UPDATE: I posted earlier this month. Got Nexplanon removed April 12, 2021 due to a year long menstrual cycle. Today April 21,2021 finally no bleeding! No lower back pain or aches! I’ve been waiting for relief and since the removal each day is getting better. My mental health as well is getting better. There is hope ladies! Light at the end of the tunnel! If you remove it your body will start adjusting itself . Just have patience with yourself and try to be positive while you go thru this process. I’ve been praying and meditating and listening to positive YouTube videos to help with my mental state while my hormones adjust. You will be ok in Jesus name."

"I would not recommend. Has pretty much ruined my life. My periods have been going on for weeks up to months long along with brown bloody and liquidy discharge. I’ve had horrible mental health including suicidal thoughts, worsened depression, anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I’ve had moodswings and gained around 5 lbs even on a healthy diet and exercise every day. My “youknowwhat” has had a horrible smell, I’ve tried everything from medication, figuring out my pH level, wearing cotton panties to taking showers often and still there is a very bad oder especially from my discharge and period blood. The cramps are debilitating and I couldn’t even walk. The application area has ached ever since I got it and I’ve had migraines constantly. If your body is sensitive to extreme hormonal changes, you have depression or any mental illness, or sensitive in general I would not recommend this. It has been the worst experience of my life, getting it removed soon."

"I've had the Nexplanon for about four months. It was annoying for a good month and a half almost two from constant bleeding and spotting. But after that I have not had a period. It's great, only now I sometime realize it gets itchy but than the urge to itch goes away. Would definitely recommend to others. If having the bleeding and spotting for long times I would hang in there. It gets better just have to wait it out."

"Nexplanon is my first birth control. I have had it for about 5 months now. I had it inserted about 8 weeks after I had my first baby. For the first week after it was inserted, I had a "normal" period and after that, it went away and I have not had another period at all (not even spotting!) I have not gained weight. I have not had any side effects. If you don't want periods, I think it works best if you are breastfeeding at the time you get it."

"I've had my Nexplanon since July of 2014 and I love it. I did not get the month long periods that others got but I have been on birth control pills for a while so my body just may be used to birth control in general. My periods come maybe 2 or 3 times a year and usually last a week and a half, which is the only downside. My boyfriend and I do not use any other form of birth control and so far so good."

"My daughter had the Nexplanon implanted about a year and half ago although I told her I thought it was a bad idea. It has not been studied in women under the age of 18. After about the first 2 months I saw the light in my daughters eyes go out. She had horrible cramps, break through bleeding lasting weeks and severe mood swings and depression. On Friday January 31st at 8pm my daughter was taken to the local ER for suicidal thoughts. After 36 hours of awfulness she was admitted to a psychiatric care facility and put under suicide watch. The Dr that gave her this implant did NOT educate her on the side effects it can cause, especially the mental side effects. She will be discharged in a few days and has an appointment to have it removed immediately. Do NOT get this form of birth control! Especially if you have ever been diagnosed with any type of ADHD, bipolar disease, OCD, etc. I’m grateful she saw that something was not right and sought help before I lost her."

"I got Nexplanon in Jan 2020 after coming off depo provera. I haven't had a period which is amazing. But.... I've gained 50 pounds. I get bad migraines. I'm irritable and honestly I think it is time to just get it removed and try a different method. I don't even have a sex drive anymore."

"After using the Nexplanon for almost a year (October 2019-September 2020) I can say that overall I did not have many side effect symptoms other than bleeding for weeks at a time. It was frustrating to wake up every morning and see that I was still bleeding. Not only that, but the time between my periods were only 2-3 weeks. I never had a normal period on the Nexplanon and my friend who also had the implant felt the same, she bled for a year straight while my cycle would be 24 days at the least. It was very irregular within those days as well, some days would be heavy some would be light, some days I would be bloated and have cramps, some I would have headaches and back pain. It was all very unpredictable. After having my period for 36 days straight twice in a row, I decided my frustration was unbearable. I had to take out my Nexplanon. Though it was a very effective form of birth control I could not take the periods any longer."
