"I’ve had the Nexplanon for about two years now. The insertion process for me, was very comfortable and simple (only a little pinch and then some pressure). My period stopped completely and I got slight bleeding every once in a while (not even enough to wear anything). Although, I have been slowly gaining weight over the past two years. When the implant was inserted I weighed around 150 pounds, I am now up to 180 with little to no lifestyle changes. My appetite is crazy and once I start eating I don’t want to stop. Recently, my back acne has had an extreme flare up which doesn’t make sense to my normal skin. During the summer, I typically clear up due to the sun, but since I’m on my last year of Nexplanon my acne is out of control. I rarely get period pains but on occasion there’s cramps. I want to get it removed but the corona virus makes me nervous."

"I have had the Nexplanon implant for almost 8 months now and it has been amazing. I have not had a period since the implantation, but this has been my only side effect. I love the convenience of not having to worry about taking a pill every day, and would definitely recommend this method of birth control. I know it can affect everyone differently, but I saw tons of scary reviews on here before I got mine done, and wanted to leave a positive review about how great it has been for me."

"First off, THIS BIRTH CONTROL EFFECTS EVERYONE DIFFERENTLY! I originally went to this site after I booked my appointment for insertion just to get a feel for what I was in for. I only saw horribly negative things. My own experience has been fine. Everything that you expect to happen on birth control does. My emotions got the best of me, but they leveled out. I had spurts of acne, but having the correct soap for your face makes all the difference. My period has been off, lots of spotting, but it's really nothing that isn't manageable. My sex drive is better than ever. And I havent gained any weight. The insertion process is quick and painless. I'm also not pregnant! Seriously, try it for yourself, every body is different."

"I am one of the lucky ones that has an amazing Nexplanon experience. I've had it in my arm for 2.5 years now, and I haven't had my period at all that entire time. It's super discrete in my arm. I do feel it sometimes if I cross or lay on my arms in a weird way, but any slight discomfort goes away when I shift positions and stop messing around with it. I haven't gotten pregnant, and I've probably put it to the test a time or two by this point. I haven't had any weight gain or other negative side effects, BUT I usually don't get side effects from medications. I was on the pill for 2 years and I never noticed any changes either. Overall, my positive experience is 100% worth getting a second one after this. Even if my next implant is a worse experience, I still think it's worth a shot. One pro that I considered while getting it is that I'd much rather have to get something taken out of my arm than out of my cervix if I dislike it, and I stand by that logic."

"I have had Nexplanon for nearly a year and the only side effect I have ever had was itching at the implant site. I had it implanted in December of '13 and I have still yet to have any spotting or periods. I would definitely get it again."

"I got the Nexplanon inserted on October 3rd, 2014. Insertion was much easier than I thought it would be. Only bad part is I'm allergic to adhesive so I broke out bad where the bandaid was and still have some scarring from that. I had been on the pill for 2 1/2 years and taking it every day was a hassle to remember. The first day I have the Nexplanon my hormones went CRAZY. But after that everything was fine. Super happy no weight gain (if anything I lost weight), my mood swings have almost stopped and I'm not pregnant. I just started spotting a few days ago. Very light. Not enough for a tampon just a small pad. I noticed I have been slightly more emotional but nothing compared to how it used to be while bleeding. So far so good."

"I had pretty moderate acne (I've suffered from acne since I was 10) when I started Nexplanon. I figured It was time to start on a birth control anyway so I looked into Nexplanon. I was initially worried that it would make my acne even worse since that is what most people had been saying. Not the case. I've had it for almost 6 months. Skin has never been clearer. And no babies. So that's a plus."

"I got Nexplanon in October of 2014. Since getting it, I have not had a period. No spotting or bleeding, periods just stopped. It's great! No random breakouts on my face and no weight gain from it. Definitely the best option if taking a pill is hard for someone. I never could remember to take my pill, this was the best option. The insertion was much better than I thought and it's been great ever since."

"Its a great birth control method. I've been on it for a year, but sometimes I get my period and sometimes I don't. I don't like the fact that it stopped my Period for 3 months & then it came back but for a few weeks. Otherwise, a great birth control method!"

"I got Nexplanon in August of 2014. All around its effective. My only issues are with occasional nausea, increased appetite and weight gain and horrible headaches. I am a little worried about the fact that I have zero libido and no desire to be intimate with my husband. I can deal with the rest but that's a little nerve wracking. And it's really annoying because he reminds me of it every day. Anyone else have this problem?"

"I got my Nexplanon inserted on 04/12/2012 which was day 3 of my cycle, bleeding stopped 2 hours after insertion. I have had some unpredictable bleeding, mostly waking up bleeding and then by the end of the day there would be nothing. I have had no other side effects and since hitting the three month mark I haven't had any bleeding. I'm very happy with it. I was worried about my weight being an issue, as I am very overweight but my OB assured me it would not be a problem."

"I've had my Nexplanon for two months now. No weight gain, no mood swings (which is why I switched), no periods. I'm usually extremely sensitive to side effects and the ONLY thing bad I've encountered is constant spotting... just a little here and there when I wipe. But for not having periods or craziness, I can handle it."

"I have had a great experience with Nexplanon. I have not experienced any side effects at all. I've actually lost weight since I've been on it. Yes the arm was bruised for a few days but that went away fast. It's way better than getting pregnant! I've spotted for a short period of time and did not experience my period the first month. I'm in heaven with it. Painless procedure, didn't feel a thing."

"First off: Please, please, please have your estrogen and progesterone levels checked before starting nexplanon. It will save you so much time and trouble. If you have low levels of progesterone (like me) this will work miracles for you. However, if you already have high levels of progesterone this might make you irritable, give you acne, cause weight gain, etc. (these are symptoms of having high progesterone levels). I've always had migraine with aura so my birth control selection was limited to progesterone only along with non-hormonal options. I haven't had a migraine since starting this, my adult acne has cleared up, my depression has lessened, and I haven't had any spotting or periods! But seriously ladies, get those hormones checked!"

"I had it inserted in Nov 2014 I've a period heavy and little everyday it's very stressful and expensive to be buying pads. Also, I refuse to have set with my husband knowing that I'm bleeding. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I like implanon better at least my periods came every 2-3 months I can deal with that. Will be calling my doctor tomorrow"

"I chose to change from Yaz to Nexplanon, because I wanted something new and easy. I had normal cycles until I started the implant. I bled for 30 days then stop for about a week. My ovaries hurt, my breasts hurt, I have gained about 15 pounds in 2 months, constant headaches and absolutely no sex drive, even cuddling and knowing what he wants next is dreadful. Do not get it. I want this out. Obviously it does its job with no babies because you bleed to often."

"Everything is great. I've had it for about two and a half months, no bad side effects. I've gained like four pounds, but it's not the end of the world. I've also had lots of spotting, which is expected and that should stop since I haven't had Nexplanon for very long. Besides those two things, nothing bad and I love it."

"I had spotting for about 2-3 months, and my breast were ridiculously tender and hurt. But after that I had no more spotting and haven't had a period since. I also have not gained any weight (actually lost 10 lbs). Have occasional acne but nothing severe or long lasting. Overall worth it to me. However spotting in he beginning."

"Don't do it. This thing should come with a health warning. I have had the implant for 6 months and have bled every day since I got it, not even light bleeding that you could live with heavy bleeding. My mood has changed I am normally a very positive easy going person , since having this inserted I spend most of my days crying, getting angry - I am not an angry person and feeling suicidal and that is scary. It has got to the point where my two kids are even asking are you ok today mummy, why you crying mummy. I have spent days just sitting crying or extremely anxious. I have contacted medical services to get removed and been put on a waiting list. Also I have put on over 20lbs considering that I haven’t been over eating and no matter what I do weight does not shift. My advice would be to stay clear the implant is purely awful and just not worth it."

"As far as effectiveness I went through 3 years no babies! Lots of spotting, sometimes long periods maybe 10 days, no mood swings, no depression! Nothing much really! A few breakouts every now and then but mine expired and because my husband and I agreed we just got a new one in!... VERY EFFECTIVE AND I LOVE IT. MY COUSIN ALSO HAS IT AND SHE LOVES IT MORE THAN I DO because she has NO side effects at all."

"I've had Nexplanon for 5 months and it's just great. No periods, no babies. My sex drive is down a little and I've put on a few pounds, but it's worth it to have no periods. I took my last month of pills at the beginning to transition, and I think that helped - I had a very brief period one month in but haven't seen it since."

"I have had Nexplanon since May of 2013, it is now September of 2014 and I am pleased to say it has been a good experience. I haven't gained any weight on Nexplanon. I actually feel like my sex drive has increased. I haven't had issues with acne. I've had a period that hasn't lasted longer than a week and a half and have only one every few months. After reading other reviews I feel extremely lucky. The only thing I have to complain about would be that every now and then if I lay on my arm with the injection site I sometimes experience discomfort but that seems like a small issue and after my third year I plan on getting Nexplanon again. Hope this helps!"

"I recently had the implant put in and would like to share my first thoughts; I plan to do an update in 3-6 months. The initial pain of having the implant inserted was mild - I would rate it even less painful than a shot. Your arm will be sore for a few days and there will be bruising, but nothing to get excited about. It has now been 2 weeks and I can't even tell that it is there except when I feel for the implant on purpose. My doctor warned of immediate and persistent bleeding/spotting, but I haven't experienced that so far. I've been losing weight for the past few months (on purpose) and haven't noticed a difference since the implant. No major issues with acne. Everybody is different, but don't let the negative reviews scare you!"

"I'm 17 years old. I had the Nexplanon inserted 1 year ago. I was getting the Depo shots for 2 years before I got the implant because I had very heavy and long periods. I got sick of going in every month for a shot so I figured getting the implant that lasts 3 years would be perfect and I wouldn't have to worry about getting pregnant. I haven't had a period since I got the implant, no spotting or any bleeding at all. I didn't gain any weight from it. Its not common for people to gain weight from it. But if you do eat healthy and exercise and you should be fine."

"I am 21 years old and have had nexplanon for about 6 months now and I HATE IT, I need to get it out of me ASAP! I've been bleeding for 5 months straight and on top of that I've turned into one crazy women. I've become so, so, so depressed, I cry almost everyday, It's crazy how that little thing in your arm can change you entirely, I feel like I've lost myself. Do not get this birth control!!"
