For Birth Control "I started with the lower dose 1/20. It didn't give me my period so I asked my doctor to up my dose to 1.5/30. About 2 weeks after taking it I got my period, but about 2 weeks after I started feeling TERRIBLE side affects. I felt depressed, and started to have bad anxiety and panic attacks. I had heart palpitations and couldn't even eat anything without getting nauseous and throwing up. I lost 5 pounds in less than 2 weeks. I thought I was just mentally unstable but after taking a break off them for 2 days I started to feel normal again. These pills were literally making me SICK. I just tried taking the lower dose of the birth control today and almost had a panic attack. Even the lower dose doesn't do me well at all. I am officially stopping this medication immediately, it's confirmed that it is bad for my body, my mind, and my overall health. Please consider your birth control as a suspect before anything else, your every birth control can affect you differently."

For Birth Control "I love this pill because it takes my appetite away and that's a good thing. No breast tenderness. No break through bleeding or nausea. No hair loss. I don't know if it is doing what it's supposed to be doing. It's too early to tell. But I'm not cramping and bleeding excessively. Thats good but even if I were that no appetite thing is the bomb diggaty!"

For Birth Control "My doctor increased my dose of Junel to the 1.5/30 28 day and I started having awful tension headaches. The headaches were over my eyes so I thought I had a sinus infection. After 3 weeks of headaches on most days ( getting no relief from Motrin, excedrin etc) I realized it was from the hormonal increase in the Junel. I’ve also noticed that my appetite has increased this month. It’s not a good pill for me, I've never experienced headaches like this from any other bc pill."

For Birth Control "I found Junel Fe 1.5/30 pretty good , Idid not have any of the side effects that people keep talking about. I didn't take this BC for 3 months after it was prescribed because I was so scared of the side effects, but I have none, remember birth control is super common and a majority of people don't have any side effects at all . Noticed a bit of increased appetite and less sex drive but overall I do not feel a difference at all. My periods are so so so much better and it helped a lot with my iron deficiency. I'm also on Zoloft and have severe anxiety and It didn't make a difference and the Zoloft still works how it worked before I started BC, I don't have any anxiety at all with these 2 drugs. Just don't knock it till you try it!"

For Birth Control "I have been taking Junel Fe 1.5/30 for many years (switched from Loestrin to Microgestin, this is my second generic version). I LOVE this pill. It has not caused any negative side effects for me, and always made my period very light and short (2-3 days long). I sometimes skip my period week on purpose by moving on to the next pill pack early instead of taking the placebo pills for a week. However, after skipping on purpose a couple of times in a row, I have now not had a period for 4 months WITHOUT skipping my placebo pills! I was very concerned but have taken pills regularly and taken many pregnancy tests and am NOT pregnant. I have heard from others this brand is known to cause light or no periods."

For Birth Control "I absolutely love Junel fe. It's the first pill I've tried and so far I wouldn't change anything. My periods are light and short but regular. I haven't gained any weight but the pill seems to be aiding in weight loss as I work out a fair amount. No nausea. I have been getting more anxious lately & I do worry that may be a side effect, but I am a person with anxiety disorders in general so I'm not too sure. I've had an increase in my sex drive as well, and I haven't gotten pregnant, which is the important part here."

For Birth Control "Horrible birth control experience! I do not recommend this method to anyone. I've only been taking the pill for about a week and I've been in the ER and urgent care for extreme chest/back pain and trouble breathing. My lung is now inflamed as a side effect of this pill (Junel Fe) This pill has effected my daily life and caused a lot of unexpected medical expenses. I am a very healthy 29 year old with no history of health problems. I do not smoke either. Very unfortunate situation. Please do your research before taking this pill."

For Birth Control "To keep this short and sweet, because of this birth control Junel Fe 1.5/30 I got a blood clot in my lung and had to be admitted to the hospital and be put on blood thinners. This pill is the actually so awful, between the 24/7 period cramps, rapid mood swings and super dark thoughts, and nearly puking everyday for a week and two days. May 7th 2019 marks the day an ER doctor told me I had a blood clot due to the Junel, two ER docs questioned me on why was I even taking this so, stay the away from this. And NEVER EVER take this."

For Birth Control "I’ve only been taking Junel Fe 1.5/30 for 12 days and so far so good. I was really worried because of all the horrible reviews but honestly... nothing has changed. No headaches or nausea... no hair loss, no difference in appetite... the ONLY thing is that one night I did have slight aches in my lower legs but that went away. Also, my breasts are sensitive but not really painful. Maybe I’m reviewing it too soon, but SO FAR so good."

For Birth Control "This is the WORST birth control I have ever taken. I have been between 3 different types due to insurance. This made me depressed the whole month I was on it. It completely changed my personality. I have had headaches often, which I would rarely have before. Microgestin 1.5/30 is what I was on before and it was great. Please don't take this if you want to have stable mental health. I had no prior history of poor mental health until this."

For Birth Control "I am shocked to see so many bad reviews for this! I started on the lower dose Junel in January 2014 and experienced breakthrough bleeding on and off for a few months. It was annoying since I had just gotten married and my husband can't stand the sight of blood. So I switched to a different pill. The new pill caused depression and anxiety. I then switched to another one causing even worse anxiety. So my Dr decided that since I didn't have any emotional issues with Junel, I should just try the stronger pill. Since being on the stronger pill, I have gained a little weight (but not sure that is due to the pill rather than a happy marriage) and my hair has thinned out a little (only noticeable to me). Other than that, my emotional issues due to my birth control are GONE. I would recommend trying this pill for about 2 months before scratching it from your list, all birth control pills will take a little bit to get used to. Hope this helps!"

For Birth Control "I was on the lower does and constantly had breakthrough bleeding for a month straight so my doctor switched me to the higher dose. Within a year I gained 20 lbs. before this I never had any problem with weight gain and could always lose weight no problem. Now it is so difficult to lose any weight. It made me super depressed and I have really bad anxiety now. It completely depleted all of my sex drive."

For Birth Control "I’ve been taking the Junel Fe 1.5/30 for two years now. This is the first and only birth control pill I’ve taken, so I can’t compare it to any other experience. I suffered from severe panic-attack inducing cramps before I took Junel Fe, and I never have had any bad cramps since then. I have a regular, light flow with this pill with no pregnancy scares thus far. My face has cleared up almost completely and it’s the best it’s ever looked. This pill amplified my anxiety for the first few months, but I hadn’t associated it with the pill so I never stopped using it. However, after two years my anxiety and depression are completely gone... I’m not sure if I should associate that with the pill, though. I was kind of shocked to see so many negative reviews. But everyone’s experience is different. All I wanted was to stop having such painful periods."

For Birth Control "Hello everyone! I took Junel fe for three cycles and gosh, was it a mess. I'm 5'3 and weighed at 123 starting it. At the end when I switched BC, I weighed 114. This made me severely nauseous, moody, and just made my anxiety horrendous. I would cry for no reason and over react. I give major props to my boyfriend for dealing with me...It got so bad to the point where he loved the placebo week because I didn't have nearly as bad as a reaction. However, I never got pregnant on this BC so it does what it claims. Props to it. I know BC is different for everyone so don't let this discourage you. I'm just sharing my experience..."

For Birth Control "Worst birth control on the planet. I experienced every negative side effect immediately after starting it (nausea, headaches, bloating, fatigue, complete brain fog, dizzy, horrible cystic acne), and now, after deciding to completely quit it 4 months later due to these side effects, I got diagnosed with a DVT. A freaking BLOOD CLOT in my leg, after being on this for only 4 months. And, after reading other reviews, it doesn't sound like I am the only one who has experienced this. Hundreds of dollars later for tests and medication, now I have to take blood thinners for 3 months. STAY away from this mediation!"

For Birth Control "I recently lost my virginity and I decided it would be best to get on birth control. I have been on this pill for the past five months and didn’t start to develop severe side effects til my 4th round. I have had a constant UTI that later turned out to be a yeast infection all summer, I have developed migraines which is not something that happens to me, and I have had dramatic hair loss. I have normal thick wavy hair and I usually would lose hair here or there but now it’s to the point where I have to vacuum my hardwood floors cause sweeping doesn’t help anymore. I also have had my anxiety heighten and I cry more easily now. I have never felt defeated by a small pill in my entire life. My sex drive is high but I don’t feel myself enjoying it the way I used to. I gained 10 pounds on this pill as well. I've reached out to my doctor and begged for a switch. Please don’t take this pill"

For Birth Control "I was switched to this birth control after Gildess was recalled. I did great on Gildess, but as soon as I was switched, I started to notice some differences. My appetite was INSANE. I'd eat a huge amount of food and immediately feel hungry afterwards. I gained about 15 pounds in the 6 month period in which I took it. As soon as I got off of it, the problem went away."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Junel for a little over two months now. I switched from microgestin 1/20 (because they discontinued it) to Gildess 1/20 and let me tell you, I'm so much happier with Junel. I loved microgestin and Gildess just couldn't do it for me. Despite taking it every day without missing a day or time, I had break through bleeding and a lot of heavy spotting. But now? I don't have that. I do have some emotional polarity at times because of the new pill and I have experienced bloating (but I also have IBS-C which doesn't help). But people need to realize that you can't bash a pill because it doesn't work for you. It works great for others and awful for others simply because of how your body functions. Junel does its job as a BC pill very well."

For Birth Control "Absolutely terrible. Mood swings, tears, weight gain. Seriously, just don't. I am not an emotional person at all. But I would cry, get upset, and became severely depressed. A week off of the pill and I am back to my normal self."

For Birth Control "I took this for around 6 months and I'm not pregnant yet. I'm moving to a different pill because it mainly caused some depression and weird mood swings. I didn't see a change in my weight and my skin did clear slightly. My breasts grew about a cup. It's an effective pill, just not for me because of the effects it had on my mood."

For Birth Control "I've been using NuvaRing for the past 7 years which I loved. I'm about to lose my insurance so I decided to make the switch back to the pill for a cheaper out of pocket expense. I heard horror stories about this pill but wanted to share my experience since it's been nothing but great! Although I loved NuvaRing, I had zero sex drive and was constantly bloated whether I was on my period or not. Since starting Junel, the bloating has stopped and my sex drive is up. I haven't noticed any mood swings or increased anxiety or sadness. I do experience breakouts but only when I'm on the week break before my next pack. My period is about 4 days long, it immediately starts, like a couple hours after the first placebo, but again it only lasts 3-4 days. All in all, this pill has been really effective for me. I know everyones experience with birth control is different but wanted to share a positive experience about this pill specifically."

For Birth Control "After seeing some of the reviews on here I’m shocked to see how many negative side affects many women are experiencing. I’ve been taking Junel for about a year and a half now and at the beginning I would only have a period for about 3 days and that was only for a couple of months. After that I didn’t have a period at all. Until I missed a pill accidentally and took two to try and make up for it, I was spotting for almost over two weeks. My doctor told me there was nothing to be worried about so I continued to take the pill and haven’t noticed any significant side affects. However, I will say that it has been extremely difficult for me to loose very much weight, I play soccer and I’m very active all of the time but I’m still 185 pounds at 19 years old and for me that’s just unacceptable. I think my eating habits are mostly to blame but I can’t rule out that my pills could be contributing to that. I think this is a great pill if you don’t want to have a period."

For Birth Control "I am 27 years old and this pill is a god-sent. I used to have heavy, painful, irregular periods. But after starting the pill, my periods are regular enough I can predict them down to the hour, they are very light and short, and I have almost no cramping at all! I've been taking them for 6 months and have no intention of stopping."

For Birth Control "I have been reading these reviews and my daughter started out on this and was doing really well, then started with cystic acne, weight gain and moodiness and as it turns out, it's not the name brand Junel, the pharmacy switched it to the generic on her. Now that she has insisted that they give her the name brand, she has lost 6 lbs the first month and is happy again. For all of you that are having a hard time, it might be because the pharmacy has switched you to the generic, which is not the same. Insist on the name brand. It has made a difference in my daughter's life. She's 20."
