Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I am only 16 and have taken this pill for 3 months and am FINALLY switching. While on the active (white pills) my periods lasted 13 days which is more than twice as long as they lasted before going onto the pill. I experienced severe spotting throughout every single pack as well as horrible cramping and mood swings. "

Necon 1/35 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I've been on Necon 1/35 since 2006 without a break. Prior to this, I was on a different pill, preceded by the patch. It was a savior for me. My periods had been still so bad, that my doctor was on her last straw. If this pill didn't work, I was getting the shot. I would bleed through EVERYTHING despite having been on BC for a few years to treat my menstrual issues. With Necon, I've never had a single bad side effect in the 9+ years I've been on it, and my periods to this day really only last 24-36 hours, and then it's basically just spotting for 12-24 hours thereafter. The only reason I'm switching to another form of BC is because I'm tired of having to think about taking it every day."

Junel Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I am 33 years old and started taking these pills the first day of my period on September 26, 2015. This was my first time using birth control since 2012. I bleed for 15 days and then very light on the 16th day. On the 17th day, October 12th I saw no bleeding. It is October 19 and I started to bleed again yesterday morning, October 18. I don't understand why I'm having a second bout with a period not more than 1 week later from my first period. All my life my periods lasted no more than 5 days. The only other birth control I used was Ortho tri Cyclen and my periods only lasted 5 days. I'm going to a gynecologist today as I consider to switch birth controls."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I have been on Loestrin Fe 24 for 5 months now (give it a chance) and although it was more bearable to take 5 mg of Lexapro for the anxiety that came along with it (I would wake up at 3:30 am each morning with anxiety for no reason at all), I now have noticed that I am experiencing more anxiety as well as some weight gain and small break outs. I went from a size 0 to a size 2 and now my size 2's are tight, especially in the buttocks region. Honestly, this pill is not that bad, but I would have to give Yaz a 10 as far as side effects -- no weight gain, a clear complexion and minimal anxiety. There is just one big negative about Yaz -- it may cause blood clots and that is pretty serious. I would recommend Loestrin 24 fe for women over 40 tho."

"I was prescribed Taytulla to combat severe menorrhagia and extremely heavy periods that caused anemia. I'm halfway through my second pack and I'm very happy with the results so far. I've never had a regular period before and in comparison to my usual 15-day-long nightmares, a light four days is great! The first few weeks, I noticed some breast tenderness, but that's stopped for the most part. My hormones have been totally put of whack for years and they're finally calming down, it seems. My acne is much less severe than it used to be and I've lost a little bit of weight. I haven't experienced any mood swings either, which I know some users have reported. I had mood swings before Taytulla, but not anymore. I'm quite pleased!"

Microgestin Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I have been on microgestin for almost two weeks now. I am a pretty active individual almost everyday so the weight gain hasn't been too much of an issue for me. It has increased my appetite a little, and have made my breasts pretty tender. Other than that, I have no complaints about this pill. I have been on other birth controls before, but this one isn't as bad as everyone says it is... if you have preexisting conditions of diabetes, heart problems, high bp, of course those symptoms might increase on a birth control medication, but as long as you are staying active, maintaining a fairly balanced diet, and drinking plenty of water, please don't fear this birth control."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I am a 40 yr old female with heavy bleeding and painful ovarian cysts. My gyn recommended this pill. I almost completed my sample pack. I am on the 2ndbrown pill and awaiting my period. It makes me nervous when I don't see my period. At least I am happy to read that I will see my period when I take the third brown pill. I have to say that the first month was rough. I had very bad headaches and I noticed I was very moody and even felt depressed. I did not experience any nausea or weight gain. I will stick it out for three months and see what will happen"

Microgestin 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I was prescribed Mirogestin after experiencing prolonged abnormal bleeding. I've not been on birth control for over a decade and I have to say I hate this drug! Three weeks in and I am miserable. I don't want to continue taking it at all, I can't do this for 3 months. Here is my experience: I started taking the pill while on my cycle, as directed by my Ob-Gyn and on the last day of my cycle as the flow was lessening it suddenly got heavier and I spent five days dealing with extremely heavy flow (every 60-90mins) Then it stopped for 2 days and then started again. Sore lower back and abdomen constantly. Increased appetite. Fatigue. Emotional. Advil is a constant, without it I'd be a wreck!"

"This is honestly my favorite birth control that I’ve ever tried! It hasn’t caused me to gain weight, break out, or have any mood swings like every other birth control that I’ve tried through the years. This truly feels like a miracle product!"

Microgestin Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "Three days after I took my first pill of the first pack, I threw up. when I started my second pack I got EXTREMELY nauseous for the first 3 or 4 days and this continued until I got to my 5th pack, then I no longer had this side affect. it helps really well with periods and reduced it to 3-4 days instead of 6-7 so that's great. overall it's a good pill once I got past the nausea."

Junel Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I've been taking Junel for about 6 months now. I switched from Minastrin because I had regular breakthrough bleeding. After Minastrin, I tried Yasmin and Yaz, both of which made me very depressed and moody. Junel seems to not affect my mood as much, but I think it still does a little. I don't have any breakthrough bleeding with Junel. My one complaint is that during my period, I get terrible migraines. I am like a zombie with nonstop migraines for 3-4 or even 5 days straight. No pain medicine helps. Junel also totally cleared up my acne and gives me light, cramp-free periods. When I'm not taking a hormone, my periods are much heavier and have painful cramping."

Loestrin 21 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I started taking Loestrin20 three weeks ago and today, after seeing my doctor, I was forced to stop it. From day one, I have been experiencing all sorts of awful side effects: numbness in all extremities and face, fainting, problems with breathing, headaches, weakness and dizziness to the point that I couldn't drive to work. I ended up in hospital, twice. I never had issues in the past with birth control pills, but this one is not suitable for me, while thousands of women are fine taking it. If you experience bad side effects, Please interrupt your treatment and see your doctor asap. Birth control pills shouldn't cause major side effects, and if they do it's a clear sign that you are at risk and must look for a better option!!"

"I've been Junel fe 1.5/30 for 3 months and I absolutely hate it. It was prescribed to me in an attempt to shorten the length and heaviness of my period. As well as I was recently diagnosed with fibroids. For the 1st month I expected spotting and I was met with heavy bleeding for a whole month. Within the first month I suffered from acne (face and back), anxiety, severe cramps, depression, raging temper and breast swelling/ pain. The 2nd month I was pleased to see that my period lightened up but during my cycle my period stopped for a few days and resumed. My anxiety and depression continued and new symptoms developed. I noticed a loss of appetite and an aversion to foods I would normally love. Prior to the pill I was a normal active 23 year old with no health issues. Most days when I'm not working, I can barely make it out of bed due to exhaustion and sadness. It's safe to say this pill isn't the one for me."

Junel Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I started this birth control because of my heavy, long lasting periods. I have been on this for approx. 3 weeks. I have already had a cycle since I started the medicine and I was pleased to find out that it shortened my periods from 16 days to just 6. The only side effects I have noticed are the beginnings of acne and being paranoid and extremely emotional. Since I only took the medication to shorten my periods, I have realized that the medicine is serving its purpose and I have to accept the side effects."

"I was put on this pill to help treat high testosterone, I have PCOS. It should be noted I have uterine fibroids as well. I'm in the 2nd week of the pack. This is also the 2nd time in my life I've been prescribed this pill. And now both times it has caused extremely heavy bleeding, clotting & my uterus is contracting. This is not a normal "heavy period" bleeding. I've been to the ER for this, it's not something to dismiss. If you're having really heavy breakthrough bleeding &/or extreme mood swings please don't wait, call your doctor asap. This pill is just not made for some of us ladies!"

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I am taking Loestin 24 for 14 days now. I feel really good and have more energy. Last month my period lasted a month. It was awful so my doctor prescribed the pill to control the bleeding. Haven't gained weight. Boobs slightly bigger (good thing for me). So far I have no complaints. Lets see what happens when my period is due next month. I will report more. I've always had long periods lasting 10-12 days so it would be a blessing if the pill can take it down by a few days at least."

Junel Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "Ok so I'm on here to post on a post I did on February 23 sooooo my first review after a month on pill was good. I can't say it is now :( on my second pack and calling Dr tomorrow to change it.... I started bleeding 2 weeks before my period and I'm also getting acne something I never ever had..... I also get very sensitive and cry for any little thing I'm definitely getting off this pill the reason the Dr put me on it was to control my heavy cycle and now I'm bleeding in between."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "Since being off birth control for about 4 years I decided I wanted to try a mini pill. I have endometriosis and my doctor had mentioned it could help with ovarian cysts. Since day 1 of taking this pill I have been bleeding. It's now the end of my pack and I still have had bleeding throughout the entire time. I don't really want to continue taking it if this is going to continue, the point of going on the pill was to prevent pregnancy but if I'm bleeding all month anyways I don't even have sex- so there's no point. I have also never had acne and now it's all over my face which makes me depressed and my self-esteem is now horrible! The only thing I like about this pill is the fact that I didn't gain weight and my moods are decent."

Alyacen 1/35 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I started taking these pills 3 months ago and so far it hasn't helped with my heavy periods at all. The doctors told me it might take 2-3 cycles for it to start working but I am currently on my 3rd period since taking the pills and this time my period is way heavier than my last two and I have awful cramps (I rarely cramped before using this pill). I have anxiety all the time now as I am terrified I might develop a blood clot. I'll give it one more month and then look into other pills I guess. Probably gonna write another review so yeah. Also I'm 18 and my periods have been heavy since I was around 15. Praying it works because I can barely move around/stand on my period otherwise I'll just bleed all over the place..."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I am 25 and have three kids. This birth control has made me moody and cry over NOTHING. I am not a soppy person so this is VERY unlike me. I am also having headaches and HOT flashes. I CANT STAND it. And I still have acne and NO sex drive. My doctor put me on this for the pain I was having and it has lightened up, but I still have pain."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I'm on my second month on this pill (it was a 3-month free sample) and I have been pretty good with making sure not to miss (I have missed once or twice by an hour tops) I am not perfect. But honestly I have gotten constant bleeding and spotting in an unfavorable color. I am trying to wait out till my gyno app next month but I went on this pill for protection but mainly because I was fainting/having awful side effects on my periods and its now recurring at a larger scale. This was supposed to be my first pill but I feel like its been an awful experience."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "So I started this pill about 2 or 3 years ago and I don't remember my starting side effects then. But my first time around it was GREAT, I had really bad periods prior to starting this pill and lo loestrin caused me to not have one at all. I loved it and my sex life was flourishing with my boyfriend. In April of this year I had to stop taking it because I lost insurance coverage and couldn't afford it at manufactured price, instead I started taking a pill that brought my period back but it was barable. I started back on Lo loestrin in June 2017 and was already on my cycle from the last pill. I thought once I took my first blue pill of Lo Loestrin my period would begin to ease up but no, it's June 30th and I'm STILL bleeding."

On this pill I have been getting really bad back pain and bad cramps to the point it wakes me up at night. I never spotted and on this pill I spot every two weeks but this month it feels as a regular period.... Its not convenient whatsoever. The only pro I could say is a bit larger breasts. That's it!"
