For Birth Control "Absolutely the worst birth control I have ever taken. I was on Jolessa for years to regulate my heavy periods and help with cystic acne, I never had any issues. Light period ever 3 months and clear skin. When I switched jobs my Doctor prescribed this because it’s cheaper without insurance and I had to wait 90 days for insurance to start. The side effects have been horrible. I started bleeding the second week of taking this pill and it has not stopped it has been almost 2 months. Supposedly “spotting” but it’s heavy and requires multiple pads/tampons daily. Forget sleeping, having sex or wearing any nice pants. Also the cystic acne that was treated with Accutane years ago and Seasonique has kept at bay is back, worse than it has ever been. I have at least 5-7 large, painful, cystic pimples on my face at any given time. So in conclusion if you want your period 365 days a year and horrible acne this is a great choice. I stopped taking it, it’s not worth it."

For Birth Control "I started Jan 2018; I never got a period the first 3 months. Also not sexually active at that time so I knew I was fine. My body balanced out, I started getting a little period once a month, 4-5 days. If you miss two days, you will spot, sometimes multiple days like a period so carry it with you... I did put on a few pounds with this pill, my doctor told me to just workout more haha it's the price we pay with BC: extra hormones, cravings etc. But overall my mental and emotional health is balanced."

For Birth Control "Before starting Amethia Lo three month packs, I was on Esthinyl estradiol and drospironone for 4 years. I switched due to increasingly worsened acne/PMS symptoms. I switched in August, it’s now November! At first, my acne got worse and my face was very greasy for a couple weeks, but now my skin is clearer than ever, which is a HUGE plus! In the second & third month, I spotted for three weeks straight, then nothing during the placebo week. I haven’t been sleeping as well as I used to, with waking up during the night and having issues falling asleep. Now in the first week of the fourth month, I have been mildly-moderately nauseous 24/7, I’m hoping this goes away!! Otherwise I’ll start taking it during the night rather than the morning as I’ve read that can help. I plan to continue using Amethia Lo, but I’m really hoping this nausea goes away!"

For Birth Control "So the first pack is absolutely the hardest but I had trouble for 3 packs and was ready to give up. I stuck to it for 3 packs (9 months) and I finally have gotten my body adjusted to it. Bloating always happens at the end of the pack and it’s extremely uncomfortable. I have gained at least 10 pounds while taking these pills but then again I skip the placebo pills and go straight to another pack so I don’t get any periods at all."

For Birth Control "I have endometriosis and was put on Camrese so I could have less periods and hopefully lessen the severity of cramps and pain. The 1st 6 months were rough, with spotting almost every other week and a 2 week long period Weeks 8-9 but once I started the 3rd pack, symptoms resided and improved. However, in January, insurance decided to switch me from Camrese to Amethia. I have since gained 20 pounds and am very moody. My acne has stayed fairly clear though and cramps and pain are still managed better than they were with one-month BC pills."

For Birth Control "I'm on the 10th week of my first 3 month cycle. So far this pill seems quite good other then spotting which stopped once I started taking it within the same 5 minutes every day. I recently had spotting again which my Dr advised to take 2 pills daily for 3-5 days until it stopped. It now stopped completely. I did have period cramps after 2 months which should have been my period timing. I also have a huge increase in appetite but I'm not sure if it's from the pill or just from switching my job to part time and being home more. I plan to continue using this for a while"

For Birth Control "I took Amethia for 7 years and did not have any problems unless I missed 2 pills. I knew once I missed 2 I would have breakthrough bleeding. Over the years I did gain weight but it could also have been from ageing. I went from my 20s to 30s on the pill. This method was extremely helpful for me being in my 20s not wanting to stop everything I had planned just to stay at home with a cycle...because who wants to do that lol. However even though they allowed me to have allll fun in my 20s now in my 30s (31) and I'm having trouble getting pregnant. I've been trying for 6 months and so for nothing. My review about this method of bc is "It worked great for me almost too great but I don't recommend using it for long term use"."

For Birth Control "I decided to switch to this from Reclipsen (Apri) because I liked the idea of only four periods a year. Big mistake. This birth control made me break out like I never have before. I also gained about 25 pounds while on this. Being a young woman, those are the two biggest things I look for in a birth control pill, besides effectiveness obviously. The chemical difference between the two pills obviously did not agree with my body, and I switched back to Reclipsen after about 6 months. I will be sticking to Reclipsen for a long time."

For Birth Control "I didn't have great experiences with this birth control. I've been using it for six months (Jan/Jun). Before my period, I had A LOT of headaches, nausea; it was terrible. One month after my period, my ovaries starting hurt a lot, I had spotting, like brown (read SUPER DARK), migraines every day, I tasted iron in my mouth, it was terrible. I changed my birth control. Definitely I don't have great experiences with it, including the price $$$$"

For Birth Control "I started this birth control 3 months ago, currently on my 2nd pack 1st month of it. I will be switching. My first 3 months I spent pretty much spotting and having a period every 2 weeks. I had one period (spotting large amounts) come and stay for 19 whole days and I thought I was going to bleed to death. I hated it so much. I’ve gained 15 pounds since starting it. My breast are so tender to the point I can’t really touch them. My acne got SO bad, and I’ve stayed pretty nauseous. Even after changing it to taking it at night I’m still so nauseous with it. I’m always tired, and very very cranky and angry on it. I’d much rather have a regular period with regular BC pills and have one monthly than this."

For Birth Control "I’m now on the second month for this pill Amethia. I hate it here. I went from having spotting to a light period and now my period is on full force. I’m suffering a migraine now as I type this. I have seen those who have taken it for longer than me say the first three months are rough so I’ll keep taking it because I don’t want to go back to the 1 month pill."

For Birth Control "I’m on my second month of my three month cycle with Amethia and I love it! The only real side effect I’ve had is a little bit of nausea, so I really can’t complain. My skin is actually clearer as well. No weight gain, no mood swings, no change in appetite, no sleeplessness, nothing! Really impressed so far."

For Birth Control "I started with microgestin seven months ago to help with periods. They were heavy and incredibly uncomfortable and the microgestin just wasn't working for me, and I'd been on it for six months. Then I switched to amethia and things were weird for a little due to the hormonal changes, but after a month, everything leveled out. I haven't gained any weight, my skin is still relatively clear. The only thing I've noticed is that my breasts are very itchy. I then noticed that I was having frequent allergic reactions to *something*, so my doctor reccomended I stop taking this for two weeks. Turns out I was just allergic to my body wash, but the breast itching went away, but has since started up again. I've been back on amethia for two weeks now"

For Birth Control "I have nothing but great results from these pills, I was put on Amethia when I was 15 for very heavy and extremely painful periods so bad I would live on a heating pad for a week and miss school/work a few days each month) I've been taking it for 8 years now and have not had any noticeable side effects, no spotting, moodiness, weight gain or acne. My periods are much lighter and shorter, much more manageable. My only complaint is the price, normally my insurance covers it fully but between coverage when my deductible resets I end up paying close to $300 for a 3 month cycle pack."

For Birth Control "I dance about 4-5 days a week & I am on the triathlon team! I started taking Amethia early December 2019. I went back to college in Jan. I continued my dancing, running, biking, swimming. I got these huge bumps that appeared to be bruises. I continued my activities. Eventually my dance instructor saw & I had to do low impact moves & quit running & biking. They still are coming & going — it’s August. 3 weeks ago I went to the doctors. I then saw 3 specialists. They took XRays(we had assumed they were stress fractures due to activity), and MRI, and a specialist to look for blood clots. The specialist said usually it could be due to birth control& could be a blood clot. They checked the ONE small bump that was on my leg 3 weeks ago. NOTHING!’ However, all my doctors, based off past pictures, say that they are pretty sure they were blood clots. diagnoses: Thrombosis. Be careful with medication my friends! Ps: it was a 3 month prescription! I paid $45 every 3 months!"

For Birth Control "So, I am approaching my first period on this pill. After being off birth control for 2 years, I don't mind this one. I will suggest that you take it at night time. Most people get very nauseous on the pill. My first week taking it, I threw it up twice because I was taking it in the morning. I have been spotting non stop for about half of this pack. Apparently it can take 6 months for your body to get used to the every 3 months cycle, especially if you have a normal cycle. Overall, no crazy PMS anymore and I haven't noticed any weight gain. Also, as a person with chronic migraines, I can't say this has made better or worse."

For Birth Control "I started taking Amethia because I was working a summer job in a remote part of the county. I would have limited period products and didn’t want to deal with a monthly period in general. I had never taken BC before Amethia. I didn’t have a horrible experience but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. I had breakthrough bleeding for about 8 weeks. It would almost never get on my panties but it was noticeable if I wiped. Before Amethia, I hadn’t had acne besides the occasional pimple or two for years. After starting it, I was almost constantly broken out on my cheeks. Overall, I’m changing to a “monthly” birth control, partly because of the negative side effects and the fact my job is over and I’m more comfortable having a regular period."

For Birth Control "I have started Amethia this month, switching from Tri-Nessa and I honestly have no complaints about it. So far, knock on wood, it has been great. Less cravings and also a stabilizer with my mood. I don't experience the tender breasts like other women and actually my breast size have reduced since taking it. I have yet to see how I feel later in the month."

For Birth Control "Listen, let me tell you about this drug. I thought I was dying. I was vomiting 5-6 times per week with no apparent cause and at random times (but more often in the morning). I had also gained 30+ lbs in the two years since beginning Amethia, but having always struggled with my weight I wasn't as concerned with that issue because I thought I just needed to diet. Well, I stopped taking Amethia about 3 weeks ago. The first thing that happened was that I had diarrhea for a week straight. Second, I immediately dropped 5 lbs, which I thought was due to the diarrhea, but the weight loss is continuing and I'm now down nearly 10 lbs in 3 weeks without trying. And finally, I haven't vomited for three weeks now, which is AMAZING."
