For Cough "Took robutussin syrup right before bed and woke up at 4am and found out I’d pooped the bed, and it was WATERY. Probably the most disgusting experience of my life. Would not recommend. dextromethorphan definitely caused me diarrhea"

Delsym (dextromethorphan) for Cough "This product is NO GOOD. I purchased for myself. Have a bad cough due to cold /sick. I'm not a smoker. It didn't help at all. I didn't stop coughing. It did make me feel nauseous though. If I could, I would have rated it a ZERO OR NEGATIVE TEN."

Delsym (dextromethorphan) for Cough "I took a dose of Delsym at 9pm and felt my cough calm down before bed. Woke up at 3am filled with anxiety and two hours later, I'm still awake. After reading all the negative reviews and the reaction I have, I don't think I'll take this medicine again. Hoping my stomach stays strong. Picking up some elderberry syrup once the sun comes up."

Delsym (dextromethorphan) for Cough "Developed a cold that just wouldn't go away and that turned into a cough. Took Vicks, Mucinex, NyQuill, but nothing controlled the cough well. Decided to try Delsym and while it did control the cough much better than the others, I woke up in the early hours of the morning with extreme diarrhea, awful awful cramping, and sweating to death...I literally sat on the toilet for an hour dry heaving because the pain was so bad. It was terrible. For the next 24hrs my stomach just hurt trying to recover. I only thought I had gotten minor food poisoning but this morning when I had just liquid bowel movements again I decided to search reviews since that's the only thing that has changed...am definitely going to stop taking...."

Delsym 12 Hour Cough Relief (dextromethorphan) for Cough "Avoid taking - I took the required dosage and after one hour I had terrible gas pains and diarrhea. Very embarrassing since I am at my office. My cough did stop but it is not worth it. Also, made me very dizzy and confused and a little panicky. Don't take it with any kind of green tea or caffeine."

Delsym (dextromethorphan) for Cough "I take delsum when I get sick and have a cough if I don't go to the doctor. It does work great. Stops my cough completely. Can cause nausea if taken on an empty stomach. My only problem with it is I can't go to sleep all the way. I end up in a drowsy state kind of like when you've just started to fall asleep-still kind of aware of surroundings. This cycles pretty much all night with wakefulness about every hour. The night seems to last for days, and my alarm going off is a relief. Not too tired the next day but not an enjoyable feeling for me, although a night of all night coughing is more miserable. So pros and cons for its use. In the daytime it can cause tiredness but does knock out the cough."

Delsym (dextromethorphan) for Cough "I am so confused about the explosive diarrhea reviews. Long story short, I got something last week that was more than just a common cold. Started with the usual scratchy throat, but by day 3, the cough was so unbearable that I later found out at urgent care I cracked a rib from coughing so hard. They gave me RX cough syrup which I only took once since the codene in it made me throw up violently (not fun with a cracked rib). Picked up some delsym around 1am at the pharmacy and actually slept for about 6 hours. Had to go to work the next morning and took my delsym with me. Didn't need to take another dose until about noon. I truly feel like this medicine saved my other ribs from my own abuse! Try it once before assuming you'll poop your pants"

Delsym 12 Hour Cough Relief (dextromethorphan) for Cough "I have been referred to this medication by two separate pharmacists at 2 different times, but my experience has not been positive. I caught a cough from my husband. I didn’t take anything for it at first, but couldn’t sleep, so explained my issue to pharmacist who recommended it. I took prescribed dose and within minutes, I was coughing so hard that I had difficulty getting my breathe. It was scary. This violent coughing went on for about 20-25 min. and then stopped. I was able to sleep about 5-6 hours and when I woke up, I had a headache. I could feel the headache through my sinuses and at the back of my head. I put a warm washcloth over my forehead for a while which helped a little, but the headache did not go away over 3 hours from waking; so I’ll have take an Aleve when I finish this review. One thing I noticed is that my cough, which was a dry cough, has now gone to my chest."

For Cough "This worked great for my husband until he gave me his cold. I used this medicine and was somewhat relieved but had extremely uncomfortable gas and diarrhea. I thought I had a worse strain of virus and took the medicine again the next day. Within 45 min my stomach problems that had quit the night before returned with a vengeance. Dextromethorphan was the only ingredient I haven't used before without this reaction. Unless it's a new red dye allergy, I'm never taking anything with this ingredient again."

Delsym (dextromethorphan) for Cough "Went to urgent care and the doctor recommended Delsym he warned me it can cause diarrhea so to take Imodium with it to counteract it. It definitely helped suppress the cough, and tasted much better than NyQuil. (That contains Benadryl & Tylenol)"

For Cough "They should make a combination product with Immodium. I greatly reduced the cough but gave me the worst explosive diarrhea for hours. I just gave in and took Immodium and am finally feeling remotely normal . Just in time for the cough to return. Sheesh."

Delsym 12 Hour Cough Relief (dextromethorphan) for Cough "Did absolutely nothing to alleviate my cough. And now I am feeling slightly nauseated. I actually think my cough was better before taking it, as at least the hacking was removing phlegm. Now it's a useless dry cough that is just as painful to my poor abused ribs. Thankfully haven't noticed any warning signs of diarrhea. Hopefully, it'll stay that way. Overall this product was and unsatisfying waste of my money and time."

Delsym 12 Hour Cough Relief (dextromethorphan) for Cough "I was sleeping in the recliner and coughing no matter what I tried. This worked very well. I think it might be the best 12 hours of relief I have had from coughing. Slight diarrhea but so worth the cough relief. I would take this again when that sick with a cough."

Delsym (dextromethorphan) for Cough "This did stop my cough all night after suffering from a terrible cough for 5 days but I have severe watery diarrhea a short time after taking it. My husband had the same cough and it stopped his cough, too, luckily he did not get diarrhea. The grape flavor tasted pretty good. Imodium stopped my diarrhea with 2 doses. I will save the rest of bottle for him but not for me."

Delsym (dextromethorphan) for Cough "I took for a constant, deep barking cough. I worked quickly and well, calming my cough and allowing me to get sleep. However, it makes me incredibly drowsy - way worse then unisom. There was also bit of dizziness. I did not have any gastrointestinal side effects. I will use it again but only at night since it knocks me out"

For Cough "My husband had a nasty cough for days that wouldn't go anyway and kept him up all night. He tried a couple different over the counter medicines but his cough increasingly got worse. Someone recommended Delsym which he tried and FINALLY he got the best night's sleep...not one coughing episode all night!! I would truly recommend to anyone who's sleep deprived with a nasty cough and worried spouse."

For Cough "I took Delsym for a cough that was bothering me. It didn't stop the cough, but within a half hour I had terrible diarrhea. At first I didn't make the connection, but the next morning I tried it again and got the same results. It's a waste of money, and there are no redeeming qualities to it."

Delsym (dextromethorphan) for Cough "I found this page and everything clicked just two days too late. While my cough went away, the first night I woken up with severe cramping and the worst diarrhea of my life and was unable to hold food down for 12 hours. Then I took the medicine the next night and woke up to constant severe cramping to the point of skipping all my meals and popping pepto until the 12 hour mark when I was able to hold down a bagel. Thank god I searched this tonight because I was about to take it again!! It is not expired but rather a painful fast track to a cleanse. Never touching again."

Delsym (dextromethorphan) for Cough "Both times that I have taken this medicine it cured my cough completely, both times I woke up in the middle of the night around 330am and I felt like I was speeding on drugs.In the morning I felt dizzy and horrible.This medicine is not worth it. The side effects last at least 24 hours."
