"Recently went through another huge bender and decided enough was enough and I needed to quit drinking for good. I had cold turkey'd twice in the past with some rough times but nothing big so I figured why not taper? I messed up and it just lead to bad WDs. Shaking, sweating, anxiety, racing heart, spasms while trying to sleep that kept me up for days. I finally hit my breaking point and went into a hospital and got help. I was scared as well about how bad I was. Both other times I quit were never like this. I was of course put on a drip but I walked out with a bottle of these and instructions on the day-by-day dosage. So far it's only been a few days but all of those nightmare WD symptoms went poof. I now am committed to never drinking again, am finding a support group, and I can say this drug will absolutely assist you during bad WDs."

"As a longtime binge drinker who use would drink alone, my poison of choice was a large bottle of jim beam with the handle, when I out am of jim beam I actually drank a bottle mouthwash, the great doctor gave me some Ativan and sent be home with librium.... That's for the more detailed info on tapering Down, Thanks all!"

"I only drank for 6 months, but in that time I ended up in the ER 3 times with alcohol poisoning. This last time, they sent me home with Librium for the shakes, and while it definitely has been a lifesaver, I'm so groggy that I can't drive right now, and after putting away the laundry I collapse in my chair like I've just ran a marathon. Hopefully, this will go away soon. I wish I'd known how bad the withdrawal would be, even after only a short time: I've never been suicidal, but I honestly would have rather died than go through the DTs (thank god the ER doc shot me full of Ativan, which knocked me out for the worst of it)"

"I’ve been prescribed Librium for almost 10 years. I binge drink because of depression and anxiety. My binges last anywhere from 5 to 7 days. Sometimes I have to detox twice a month. Vodka is my poison. My detoxes have gotten worse, and Librium does get me through. I have to start at a pretty high dose. Plan your detox! Let your body rest. You’ve put it through hell. For me, the first two days are the worst. I’ll usually sleep for most of it and leave water and electrolyte replacements bedside. Librium gives me crazy dreams. However, it will keep you safe. My stomach is usually is a mess after a binge. Always be careful if you’re detoxing at home. If you don’t feel right at ANY time go to the ER.. no matter how many times you’ve been there. I would absolutely not be alive without Librium. I really hope this is my last detox. The answer never lies at the bottom of a bottle. The only things that do are blackouts, personal problems, and downright pain. Good luck to you all."

"Was a heavy drinker, there be some days I'd cut my hangover with another 6 or 12 pack of beer. Started feeling anxiety, numbness on my hands and face, felt confused as well. Didn't feel good whatsoever, they gave me both Ativan and librium, 30 minutes later all the anxiety went away, now I know some of you guys don't like medication but in this case it's a literal life saver. Just got prescribed librium after the hospital and it saved my life from a dark path of detox. If you or a group end is trying to quit, please don't quit alone, please seek medical attention to help you through the terrible journey, they can help make you feel better."

"I recently drew the line with my drinking. Began on my 24th birthday, and here I am at 41. Almost two decades. Last night I ended up in the ER, and for once in my life - they treated me with compassion. Ativan upon arriving, with Zofran for nausea. I was SO dehydrated, they could not start an IV. After a few hours, I was released and then to my sudden surprise, I was sent home with 2 scripts. Zofran and Librium (25mg). About an hour after taking 2 Librium, I felt a calm come over me. I even felt hungry and started doing my dishes. I drink/drank to deal with my severe anxiety & panic, and drinking only serves to DOUBLE my anxiety when it wear off. I am so grateful to the ER Dr. I've been to hospitals countless times, and shockingly, never left with a script - just paperwork for rehabs I cannot afford. I give this medicine a 10/10. No side effects to speak of. Highly recommend."

"I was in the ER for alcohol poisoning. level of 400. I was given 25 milligrams of librium. 1 to 2 pills every 6 hours. I was still very sick with shakes and major sweats even after 3 days. Dont, understand how these people say that the withdrawal was gone. Even on the med, I laid in bed for 4 days sick as a dog. It has kept me from having seizures but I've suffered horribly."

"My ER doctor stated me on Librium for alcohol withdrawal. I have never been sicker after starting a med. Pain in both sides of my stomach, rapid heartbeat, anxiety, vivid dreams with little to no sleep. Flushed my prescription on day 2 and had to see my primary care doctor to get myself leveled out. Don't recommend this medication to ANYONE."

"Librium did nothing for my alcohol withdrawal. I was sent home with it after being given Ativan in the hospital, and let me tell you it literally did nothing to help my shakes and my Tense body. It may work for some, but didn’t for me"

"It's amazing, have been on non stop drinking for last few year. Did try to stop many times but failed. I also got hooked to alprazolam...almost 2mg per day. Mixed alcohol and alprazolam to get the high. Finally my wife and bro in law took me to the medical facility, initially doctor wanted me to have in patient rehab but he wrote prescription for librium for 3 days provided I don't drink a drop of alcohol. It's day 2, almost 48 hrs not a single drop of alcohol and currently on librium taper. Getting my energy back and able to do basic tasks at home. Withdrawal can kill"

"Gotta say in my 36 ish years I've gone through terrible withdrawals. Probably 7 times every time one course of librium killed all the side effects instantly and I'd be dead if Librium didn't exist."
