"I was diagnosed with chronic depression, and anxiety in 7th grade. Now a junior in HS , I have been through trial and error with many medications including Pristiq, Prozac, Effexor, Latuda, and Zoloft for depression. For anxiety I have been on Abilify, which made me gain about 65 pounds in 8-9 months. Since 7th grade I have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, which my depression worsened with, and I have very bad anger issues. I now take 30 mg of propranolol (anxiety) and 150 mg of Welbutrin, and the two medications work very well together. It took about a month or 2 for me to notice any changes after staring Welbutrin, but this has been the most effective med. by far, & I have lost about 30 pounds in the past 3 months!"

"I’m hypersensitive to everything so I was very nervous to start this medication knowing that it would probably cause anxiety symptoms and I already have an anxiety and panic disorder. But I was very happy to find out that it did not affect me that way at all. I have not felt the jitters that I heard about or anxiety. I have not been on it long; I just started it within the last few days. I’m on 150mg/1X a day for now. I’m just very happy to find out that I am not suffering from a bunch of side effects (knock on wood)."

"I have been on this med for about 7 months (150mg). Initially made me feel great with little side effects and it still does. I smoked weed for about 4 of those 7 months until I quit cold turkey 2 months ago. I think the weed negated the rise in anxiety that wellbutrin usually gives. Wellbutrin is known to increase anxiety so be weary but it can wear off in a couple of weeks to months. For me I take it with Clonazepam as needed but I take it daily almost because of the constant anxiety. For me I am not addicted cause I am on such a low dose (1mg) but I would like to try Buspar which I prob will. This pill gave me my motivation back that I lost for about 6 years. It allows me to get out of bed and not feel pity or sorry for myself. I usually take it in the mornings. BUT if you have GAD be weary as it can make your anxiety worse. But the way it makes you feel motivated can outweigh the crazy anxiety it can give."

"I have more energy and want to clean things up that I haven't cleaned in awhile because all I wanted to just sit around and didn't care.I felt better after the second day,Im having a problem with talking bad about some people but I think I have been holding my feelings back for along time,I just now Im seeing I don't care what they think, which is good for me because I've always been trying to be happy around these people that would make fun of me and talk bad about me behind my back. Since it's family I have to been around them ever now and then put Im able now not letting it matter and being able to let my feelings out. I have to lose weight and its been a week and Im able to control now to think about food before just eating it up and not care."

"Have been on Wellbutrin generic 150 mg for a little over a year. I didn’t notice when it stopped working and looking back I did really well on it the first few months and then slowly started slipping back into depression. Doctor put me on 300mg XL generic starting yesterday, and fingers crossed that I get back to where I was before. Sad to say that the previous dose pooped out. I guess that’s how a lot of these meds go. Got up early this morning, very unusual for me, but happened when I first started Wellbutrin. I’ve gotten off the rails with my depression and having to pick up the pieces. I would say, keep a close eye on your depression and journal your emotions a couple times a day and adjust dosage."

"I’ve been taking this for a month now. Started with 150mg, all it did was make me super tired. Didn’t do anything for me besides gave me tremors and muscle twitches. I feel like I’m gonna burst into tears 24/7 but I can’t even cry. Did nothing for my energy or ADHD either. I’ve been upped to 300mg now and it’s only gotten worse. Hazy, tired, can’t cry, twitching. I don’t know if it’s worth waiting out to see if it gets better because my body isn’t reacting how it’s supposed to be. This was supposed to give me energy but it just makes me feel so run down."

"Recently I switched from Lexapro to Wellbrutrin XL due to what seemed to be decreased efficacy. I have never been so miserable in my life! After 2 weeks I was feeling dizzy and had vertigo which my doctor said should subside. The good news is that it did. The bad news is I started feeling tingling and numbness in my hands and feet. This feeling did not go away. I also experiences nausea, vomiting, severe agitation and general malaise. After 5 weeks of being on Wellbutrin I called my doctor and told her my symptoms. She has put me on Effexor but I can't start the medication till my symptoms go away which I hope will be soon cause I think my family has about had it with me this last month. I hope Effexor helps and soon! Take care everyone!"

"Wellbutrin was without a doubt the most effect antidepressant I've ever taken. Unfortunately, a month and a half into treatment on 150mg XL/day I started getting cystic acne. It was terrible and I knew it had to be the Wellbutrin so I looked online and noticed other people complaining about getting Acne as well. It was terrible, it only made my depression worse because I had this big cystic lumps on my face. A month after tapering off and taking antibiotics prescribed by my dermatologist it finally went away but I went back to being depressed."

"I am prescribed 150XL for severe depression for 8 months now. I can say it truly turned my life around within days! I have tried so many different kinds of medications and this one saved me. I used to be so depressed I physically was unable to work or get out of bed. Now I am awake at 6:30 AM and having productive days. I am so glad I tried wellbutrin. I did have side effects for a few months like muscle twitching but the pros outweighed the cons so much it didn’t bother me. I am normal for the first time in my life!"

"I have only been on this medication for 2 days and right off the bat am noticing some slight stomach upset and nausea. I have tried countless other antidepressants before, with Zoloft, Paxil, and Trintellix not working for me for various reasons, mostly including an enormous amount of weight gain in a short period and nausea. I have always wanted to try this medication, mostly because I heard it usually does not cause weight gain; after losing almost 40 pounds, I would be devastated to gain it all back."

"I was on 150mg Wellbutrin for depression. The first few months and has no side effects besides very mild nausea (which is a miracle for me). Then they increased my dose to 300mg once a day, and the side effects really started taking its toll on me. I had night terrors that would leave me awake for multiple hours each night when I would finally come out of it. The nausea was making me vomit from the smell of any food. I was really upset because it was really helping as far as my depression goes, but the night terrors were too much for me to handle. Only sleeping 1-3 hours at night isn't worth it to me."

"I fortunately saw all the reviews and thought wow this medication looks like a godsend. I was on this medication for about 3 years by the last year and a half I started having a skin rash like severely and felt like where my nerves were all being hurt and in pain. Then I was having big holes in my skin and I had gained probably 70 80 lb I started at 130lb I went to 205lb by the end of it. I have gotten off this I've been off at for a week I have already lost 10 lb and I feel so much better I feel like my clarity is there I can actually feel things, like my libidos back - I have a sex drive, I didn't realise how much this medication had taken so much from me. Not everyone has the same experience on this I actually have less cravings to smoke off of it than I did on it. I smoked a lot on this medication now I'm barely smoking. So don't just go by everyone's 10 out of 10 review please be sure to see the red flags and the signs that come up because I didn't I kept thinking it was something else it was something else finally I stopped it and ya :"

"I will post daily for the first 30 days. Today is my first day starting Wellbutrin at 150 mg for my first week then 300 mg going forward. I'm taking it for severe depression, lack of energy, and to increase my mood. I'm currently also on 800 mg of Seroquel for bi-polar 1, and 150 mg of trazodone to sleep, both which are taken at night."

"This was possibly the worst thing the Dr. could have given me . Granted, he didn't know any effect it would have on me, but never again! After about a week or two I had to stop taking them. It actually increased both my depression and anxiety. I was always tired, but I was super jittery as well. My mother informed me that I looked like I was on meth. Thanks, mom!"

"Dealing with PTSD for 20+ years has been a blurry nightmare with very few gasps of air. My anger had gotten uncontrollable even though I thought it was. I have been on haldol, lexapro, and a couple of others . I have to admit welbutrin saved my marriage and more. The first few weeks were pretty rough but after that I can actually end an argument or conversation that's not going well without blowing up .."

"I've been taking 150 mg of bupropion xl for years and it kept me from hurting myself but still had manic depressiveness. I also dealt with seasonal depressive disorder. It was taking the edge off. I wanted to feel able to do things without thinking of every negative possibility. My Doc raised the dosage to 300mg and my feelings also became elavated and feel alive again. Sad to say it has been two weeks and I have developed gouty arthritis in my right elbow and it is not going away. I was trying to not call the Dr. because of the good feelings I am having but the elbow is to painful and I feel it starting in my left elbow and fingers. I had gout in my feet never in my elbow until my sister mentioned that it sounds like gout and from the feeling and redness with the pain, it is what I felt years ago when I was drinking. Sober for 8 years"

"I have ADHD (with coexisting Anxiety & Depression) and I have tried many different medications. Wellbutrin is the only one that works for me. I'm on 300mg XL and have been for a few years now, it took a while for me to actually notice a difference, but it definitely helps me. I had some side effects in the beginning, but they all stopped a few weeks in. I have always had trouble sleeping, since I've been on Wellbutrin that is not even a problem anymore. I literally cannot say anything bad about it. I feel better on it, than I ever have off it."

"I've been on this for a couple of months now. At first, my heart rate was sky high no matter what and I shook a lot. So my heart rate is still high, but not as high. And I still shake, but not as much. It did help me quit smoking and lose weight. I am not sure what the side effects would be of Aplenzin, but I might try that. Keep in mind, I'm on the highest dose with a mood stabilizer, Abilify, and Buspar."

"I've been taking this medication for under 6months now and I have gained 10lbs while taking this drug. I don't feel like I have increased energy than before like some other people described. I feel more irritable & anxious at times, still can't sleep at night. I get the dry mouth side effects and occasional constipation. I'm taking 300mg XL once a day. I am getting more depressed with gaining weight on this drug! I was taking Lexapro before & didn't find it help me feeling less depressed & experience alot of nightmare or weird dreams while taking Lexapro!"

"My only sister was tragically killed in 2009 which put me in a deep dark depressed state. Unhappy always crying didn’t wanna get out of bed. Distant from everyone I basically shut the world out. This went on for 7 years or so. I finally told my doctor I was at the end of my rope and she gave me a prescription for 150 of wellbutrin XL it sat there for months because I didn’t want to depend on medicine to make me feel human again. Then I started to take it and it made me feel slightly better and then the thoughts came back in and I went back to my doctor and and told her so she upped my dosage to 300mg and I noticed a huge change but at first but I started to notice I was happier and smiling more I was getting up doing stuff and I started letting the world back in . I’ve probably been on it 3 years now and honestly I’m not sure I can function without it because I’m afraid of sinking back down to my lows again ."

"I was prescribed Wellbutrin XL 300 mg about 2 years ago for major depressive disorder and anxiety. During that time, one of my depression side effects was overeating and weight grain. After about a year of taking it, I just continued because I had a lot of hair loss and thinning. My hair has grown back since I stopped taking it 6 months ago, however, I felt my mood and energy decline. I asked my doctor to please put me back on, which he has. It has only been a week and I feel wonderful. My cravings are pretty much cut, I used to eat a lot of candy and chips as comfort food. Yesterday, I was craving something sweet and only had one mini twix and was satisfied. I'm now convinced that Wellbutrin actually does work for weight loss, however, I've not lost any weight this first week the way others have."

"I’ve probably taken placebo pills that have worked better than Wellbutrin. It does absolutely nothing, and it makes me appreciate the prescription drugs I have taken before that I didn’t think were doing their job. I still have really dark thoughts from time to time and my depression has been ghastly lately. Hands down the least effective antidepressant I have ever taken."
