For Opioid Use Disorder "After I became hopelessly addicted to morphine and hydromorph I found myself living in squalor, dropped out of university, and was on my way to eviction and homelessness. I had tried tapering down myself, going cold turkey at home and even a few detox facilities. Nothing would stick. And most of the time I couldn't make it past 48 hours until I'd crawl back to the pills again. I'm in my early twenties and didn't see myself living to 30, let alone getting back in school. Another addict suggested methadone and after a year on that I was switched to Suboxone. I feel like myself now. I'm back in university finishing my degree and forever grateful to Suboxone for saving me."

For Opioid Use Disorder "My personal experience with suboxone is good so far. I have been on prescribed Fentanyl Patch 25 much/ 48 hrs. I have dropped to this dose over the last year. (I also left the old patch on). I have been on opiates for 12 years full time prescribed. At my highest prescription I was using 180mg of Oxycodone and 180 mg of morphine per day. I have had several adjustments on medicine including extended release doses. 5 years ago I was put on 50 mug of Fanta to with 3-10 mg Oxys per day for breakthrough. I started leaving my old patches on to increase my daily dose. This last year I tapered Down to 25 mcg patches for 48 hours.( still leaving my old patches on.) I went to a doctor that prescribes Suboxone. Lucky for me my insurance pays for Suboxone. He gave me the 8/2 mg strips. I take 1/2 a strip twice a day. I was checking every forum to see how long I needed to wait to start the suboxone. The replies are all very different. Some say 16 hours, most day 24. Others say 48-36-72 hours. Yikes! How do I keep out of precipitated withdrawals! I already have withdrawals every other day on my patch!... so I removed my patch last night around 5 pm. (I already have my suboxone script at home. ) so I started feeling withdrawal symptoms coming on around 11 pm. They didn't get super intense. I checked the cows scale as many articles suggested but only scored mild.. had the stretching of limbs symptom, anxiety.. so I took a half of a strip which was the suggested dose. I took it at 12 noon today. That's only 19-20 hours. I was in withdrawals, but not the worst I have ever had. I was scared of the precipitated withdrawals I heard about. 10-15 minutes after I took it, I felt a hot sensation wash over me. Thought I would get those withdrawals, but I took a quick bath, laid down for an hour and. Is I feel pretty good. Took my withdrawals away. I still have some muscle pain, but not the kind that come from withdrawals. Suboxone stopped the withdrawals right away. No headaches or sick feeling. Not high, but even my regular dose meds haven't made me high for years... so if your guessing on when it's ok to take suboxone after opiates, and fentanyl seems to be the highest strength, then I day shoot for 24 hours. If you are not in withdrawals at 24, then wait until you are.. if you are in withdrawals before 24 hours then just wait as long as you can. You will know when it's too bad to wait anymore. You know your body... you can always take half the amount prescribed and see how it reacts if your are afraid of precipitated withdrawals. Trust me, it will stop the withdrawals within a half hour. I have not gotten the precipices withdrawals so far. Hope this helps someone. Good luck to you!"

For Opioid Use Disorder "Been on subs for 4 years. Tried to quit a few times, but kept coming back. Hard to get off of. It really is the anxiety that makes it tough to quit. I take the 8 mg strip, the blue one. I take less than an 1/8 of a strip, close to 1/16. I've tapered down. I used to take 3/8 of a strip. I feel like I will never get off cause in the morning all I think about is putting that strip under my tongue."

For Opioid Use Disorder "After a few years of abusing heroin, my doctor introduced me to this medication. I only had to use it for a week to get over the worst of the withdrawals. Using Suboxone was the sure fire way for me to get my life back."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I too took suboxone to treat opiate withdrawal and it truly is a miracle drug. However, after 7 years of being on Suboxone daily, I'm now dependent on this. The withdrawals are just as bad as withdrawing from any opiate and some say worse. So my advice to you from my own experience is to immediately start tapering off suboxone the second you start taking it. My first attempt using suboxone only took 3 days of usage, I stopped before my body became dependent and for a month after I felt perfect. I then started taking it regularly out of fear of relapsing with opiates. Now I'm haunted by the fact I'm totally dependent on suboxone. It's a very strong drug and I personally think way over prescribed dosage wise."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I have been on Suboxone for 3 days now and so far its amazing. I have zero cravings, or withdrawals. I hope I can finally kick my addiction with Suboxone, I was taking 200mg of oxycodone a day. The doctor put me on 8mgs a day and so far so good."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Ever since the generic buprenorphine/naloxone came out I've noticed on the brand they have been weaker than normal. Not realizing one day I put the strip up to the light and seen the medication dropped on the strip. There use to be a bunch of drops on it now I only see like 8-10 maybe if I'm lucky. No wonder why I've been I'll lately. Generics make me sick and don't work but don't mess with something that isn't broken. Agh damn government."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Some users seem to be confused about this medication. It is a true opioid the same as fentanyl or natural opiates like morphine. It could be considered natural in the same way as codeine and morphine as it' s made from thebaine a naturally occurring alkaloid in the poppy. It is very, very addictive the same as the others. Yes, we are trading one addiction to another in the same class of drugs. The major difference is that we don't have to visit dangerous areas of town or sick dealers who adulterate the product. We can go about our lives just like any non addict in society. There is also the antidepressant property due to the Kappa activity. You will have typical withdrawal symptoms if you stop suddenly. And just so you know, you do get a bit of a buzz from the stuff. More a feeling of everything is ok now. "

For Opioid Use Disorder "You know, nothing in life is perfect..and as addicts we should know. Suboxone, like any medication has its ticks. Constipation, sleepiness, that's my side effects. However, would I trade that for the lying, stealing, anxiety, ocd, withdrawal worries, etc etc? My answer is NO. Hell NO. I struggled and fought on my own thinking I could manage my addiction myself for 10 long years. Through 2 births, my husbands 12 deployments, that was the hardest 10 years of my life. It's nice to know life doesn't have to be that difficult and that with Suboxone as a tool, not a fix-all thing, I'm gonna make it. Life with Suboxone is much better than life without it. Period. ( bought off friends during those 10 years as a detox, but been on maintenance 21mth)"

For Opioid Use Disorder "I literally just started this medication today. My doc prescribed it for me since he and I agreed that I had reached a point with my back pain where the opiates just weren't as helpful. Been on them 8 years. 200 mgs a day. I took my last pill yesterday at 3pm. I woke up and took my first tablet at 9:30 am. No withdrawal at all! None! I feel strange... a little warm and like everything is a bit surreal, but I am so grateful that the thought of a pain pill hasn't even entered my mind. It actually sounds repellent. I can't say yet how well it is for pain, but before I went on it, I really wanted to know what the BEGINNING would be like... and it's been easy! I am so happy. To be free of oxy for even almost 24 hours is amazing to me. I encourage anyone to try this who is stuck in the vicious circle of opiate dependance. I want my life back. I think this may be the way."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I've been a heroin addict for 13 years. I've tried methadone and Subutex and now I'm taking just Suboxone, and on "Suboxone maintenance". Through treatment and staying dedicated I am 5 months clean. I take 16 mg (2 strips) per day, every day. It has worked miracles. I don't get many cravings for heroin. For Opioid Use Disorder "I am an ex-heroin user for over ten long years. After many trips to jail... trying to get sober cold turkey, relapsed over and over. I tried methadone for a couple years weaned off and relapsed again. After losing my mother and having a daughter of my own and another trip to detox I finally found Suboxone. Now clean for 2 and half years I'm coming off slowly. It's scary because I'm so used to being "on" something but its honestly worked the best for me. It's impossible to quit without it its easy to quit with it. I was as bad as it gets. If you are thinking of getting on Suboxone do it. Just do it life is so good when you are not forced to chase pills."

For Opioid Use Disorder "After a short addiction to roxicodone I was steered into a methadone clinic and I tried to quit for a little over 2 years and I just couldn't do it cold turkey! I've been on Subutex and Suboxone. They both are amazing! Saved my life! I just wish more people were educated on this medication. I have never gotten "high" from buprenorphine. If more people knew how to obtain this treatment I'm sure they would!"

For Opioid Use Disorder "I'm only 20 but I've already developed a pretty serious skag habit, had a mild OD just two days ago (woke up before EMTs arrived) and that was the last straw.Tried 10 times to quit in the last 2 months but I'm a pussy and could never get past the second day, luckily after I OD'ed I received the right resources to quit once and for all Today was my first day on suboxone after going to a clinic that is truly a god-send. I was able to walk in without an appointment and walked out with a 7 day supply (look for clinics with multiple doctors so you don't have to wait to get in)Anyway I feel FANTASTIC. The withdrawls and cravings are completely gone. Took 30 mins to start to feel and about an hour to really kick in. I feel normal! Bless this drug!"

For Opioid Use Disorder "Dear Hopeful and I wish you all luck, Because you will need all the luck in the world if you choose this way to get clean from an addiction problem. It will never happen it is actually 100 times harder to get off subs than any drug. It will make you loose any personality you have not to mention friends, sig others, all your sex drive. You will be depressed tired mean moody and miserable all the time. Trust me this is no way to end ur problem will only create bigger ones than before. U will loose interest in your family your dreams and life. So suck it up its 7-10 days be sick trust me it will beat the mos of misery getting off of subs . I promise don't put a bandaid on something that you will live through. Trust me the hell isnt worth it"

For Opioid Use Disorder "I really have probably been addicted for the last 30 years but some life changing things happened that I became out of control. My daughter was murdered and I got a divorce and my life became unmanageable and I was dying day by day. Finally on the 7th of January 2015 I went into the hospital and started on. Suboxone. It was like a new life for me. I no longer look for pain pills everyday. It has been almost a year and it has been so wonderful to not be chasing pills every day. For Opioid Use Disorder "I was on methadone for 10 yrs quitting cold turkey at 80mg in Dec 2015. I lasted about 4 days then started using heroin again. Jan 2 I went into detox, got out the 10th and was still in wds from the methadone. Went 3 weeks struggling really bad, started shooting again then finally gave suboxone a try 1 week ago. I feel amazing besides the constant sweats I get. Methadone withdrawal is the worst wd I ever experienced. I know I'm not looking to come off suboxone. I know for me that I will always need "something". If I can take a legally prescribed medication that will help me not to shoot heroin and make my life unmanageable then I will continue to take it. So far suboxone has done good by me, why would I stop it."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I have been back and forth from rehabs, to meetings, to sobriety, and back. I understand some of the reviews about the long term use, it's like not wanting to peel off the bandaid. The truth is that the wound under my bandaid wasn't healed. It was some what of a security for me. The security was as long as I had urges I stayed on ( one strip was the highest I ever went) I wanted sobriety in the worst way and had great responsibilities in my life that a relapse would take away. I stayed on for a little over a year and the majority of the time I was on a super slow taper- taking one away per month. Before I knew it I was off and had a great fellowship a list of meetings a car a wife and a house."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I started taking Suboxone (Bupe/Naloxone) 8mg strips 6 months ago, and now I am down to 4mg. Trust me when I tell you that this drug will save your life if you have an opiate addiction, but you must follow your doc's orders. I was snorting 5-10 30 mg oxycodone's (roxi's) a day, and heroin when desperate. Opiates ruined my life I lost EVERYTHING! Now I am back in college full-time, and got my life back. If you are dealing with opiate addiction do yourself a favor, and make an appointment with a Suboxone doctor, and seek out counseling. This drug works if taken responsibly."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I was a heroin addict for the past 5 years. I was in and out of detox 6-7 times. I never wanted to be on Suboxone outside of detox, because of the horror stories I had heard. This medication saved my life. I got clean on January 1 of this year (checked into detox, again, on Dec 31-- yes, New Years Eve). I decided this time to stay on the medication following discharge. It has completely changed my life. I am still clean, on a low dose and tapering off at a pace that's comfortable for me, I didn't sleep for maybe 2 weeks after returning home, but that was due to the fact that heroin used to put me to sleep. I am a mother to my son and daughter again thanks to Suboxone."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I was taking up to 30 oxys a day for at least 6 months. Not even worth it though. I went to the doctor he prescribed me 16mg of suboxone a day and 100mg of Zoloft. The very next day I was back to myself again! 9 months later after tapering down to 2mg a day the doc said it's time to get off for good. I was ready but not for the withdrawals part... Luckily my doctor will not let me suffer during this and having kids it just makes everything intensify. He prescribed 2 kolonipin a day and a nausea medication. Boy I was loopy! But no sweats and I just felt tired all day rather than withdrawing. This is my 5th day suboxone free, yesterday I took half kolonipin and woke up feeling pretty damn good! I would suggest being on a antidepressant during these withdrawals due to the long lasting mental effects it has on our body's. Just letting everyone know there is a light at the end of this tunnel. Just stay positive that YOU WILL FEEL BETTER!!!!!"

Not one OPIATE has passed through these lips since I started on the Suboxone. And I no longer have to LIE, CHEAT, STEAL, and MANIPULATE my family and friends to support a 30-50 pills/day Vicidon ES habit.
