Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "The old inhaler worked fine. This new redihaler malfunctions. I had used about 40 puffs before it started not coming out properly. I will call the manufacturer to try and get a replacement but I am surprised to see so many others have had similar problems. Do they not test these out before launching? The new design is annoyingly big too."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "The new design for QVAR sucks! It's very difficult to use and it's hard to tell if it's working. The old push, release spray, and breath was much better. It's hard to tell if anything is getting into my lungs. Combine the fact that the RediHaler is a very poor design with the fact that the medication is very overpriced--I'll be looking for an alternative inhaler."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "Well in 2021 this is still an issue. 60 puffs left and it quit working. Glad this isn't an emergency inhaler. To make matters worse, I didn't notice it preventing any of my asthma attacks, they are just as frequent as ever."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "Have recently started back on QVAR after having stopped due to gastritis which was probably caused by beta-blocker/aspirin and 2bd blood thinner, for my heart attack which turned out not to be one in the first instance but remained on these meds for months until MRI confirmed otherwise - myocarditis. Respiratory specialist states 60% fine mist particles lodge in the lungs with QVAR, the other 40% probably into my gut which is causing me nausea plus headaches and fungal infected fingers (2). Am back to trying an evening one single dose through spacer, rinsing mouth and hoping I my body will adapt to these side effects. Has anyone got any suggestions or thoughts? I'm immune suppressed with PMR 18+ months on steroids, now tapering."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "As long as the inhaler works it's fine. The problem is, it not reliable after a while. Sometimes it gives the dose and sometimes it doesn't. Took me a while to realise it wasn't working. Now I try it first before I use it, but that means I'm wasting half of it."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "I have been using this for the past 6 years, but these last 2 years I’ve had major problems with the pump clogging. When I have about 20 pumps left I notice that the dispenser clogs and doesn’t work properly. After insurance I pay $100! This new design is terrible!"

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "I’m so annoyed (understatement) that Qvar changed my 3 month of inhalers to 1 at a astronomical cost. My 3 month inhalers worked just fine. Now I have to pay for a one month inhaler at the same price I got 3. AND WHEN I OPEN INHALER IT COMES APART SO I CAN'T GET THE MED INSIDE UNTIL I PUT IT BACK TOGETHER. It sucks, damn drug companies. I will need to contact Teva directly"

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "I've been on QVAR Redi-inhaler since Sep. 2023 and it's currently Jan. 2023. So far it is working well for me. I take 2 puffs of 80mcg in the morning and at night. I have honestly had no side effects from QVAR. The only thing I will say I have noticed is that immediately after taking it, I notice sometimes my asthma/breathing feels worse, but that usually subsides after 30 mins or so, nothing too bad. I've been going for fast-paced walks in the winter and it does a good job of keeping my asthma controlled with only slight flares here and there. I've maybe only had to use my rescue inhaler once or twice a month, but that's usually because either an allergen in a new room/space triggered it or bad weather. I was on Symbicort initially but experienced fast heart rate, difficulty sleeping, heart pounding in the chest, and feeling a bit too hyper. Did not like the feeling at all. QVAR is definitely more friendly on the body in regards to side effects. I have had no issues with the dispensing of QVAR."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "This is my second Qvar redihaler, and both stopped working at 90 doses. I've complained and nothing was done about. Seems like it's a known problem and the company does nothing. I'm out of 100 bucks now, but I'm going to ask my doc for something new."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "I started using the new Qvar RediHaler inhaler in December, 2018, and had issues almost from the start. I’m happy to see that others have as well, because my pharmacy made me feel as if the fault was mine. I know the RediHaler is ineffective because I had an old inhaler that had 100 puffs left on it, so in March, after many calls to the company (and they did graciously replace the inhalers a couple of times at their expense, but to no avail) I finished out my old inhaler and I was fine during that time. Now that I’m back on the new inhaler, I’m wheezing again and I’m very unhappy. Anyone who suffers from asthma knows all too well how frightening it is to not get relief from a trusted medication. This once effective, expensive medication (I pay out of pocket) is no longer doing it’s job! Please find a way return to the original dispenser without compromising the quality of the medication."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "My Pharmacy has just sent me my Qvar 100 autohalerin the new design dispenser, (22 actuations) - this is a garbage design, and is very difficult to use correctly. Often the medicine doesn't come out of the inhaler properly even. Why oh why do they change what worked perfectly well - TEVA should be told to immediately offer the original design, there is no doubt some reason behind it, an increase in cost perhaps! This isn't even worth a 1 out of 10 to be frank!"

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "Was on pulmicort 180 for just over 16 years worked amazing then my insurance decided not to cover it anymore which they only covered half in first place. Then doctor put me on qvar 80 inhaler. A little issues at first, but got better and asthma was well maintained again. About 3 months ago they came out with qvar redihaler. HORRIBLE!! I have to take rescue inhailer with this 1-3 times a week. I used to only have to take 1-3 times a year with pulmicort. It doesn't even feel like I'm getting anything in lungs when taking. Would not recommend to anyone! Going back to doctor this month and begging them to contact insurance company and ask them to please start covering pulmicort for me for it is needed. Its $120 vs $60, but I'd rather breathe!!"

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "I've been using Qvar 40 in the AM for 2 weeks. My breathing still sucks and I constantly feel congested and like I can't get enough air. I've had to use my albuterol inhaler multiple times a day. My doctor wants me to try using the Qvar twice a day to see if it helps. I'll update in a couple weeks."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "Although I'm paying a kings ransom for this thanks to my garbage insurance, this immediately improved my asthma. I'm not sure why so many people seem to have a problem with it but I'm having great success. I'm actually sleeping now, and I'm not rasping all the time. I'm not even kidding it made a difference after the first dose. To be fair I was also enjoying good results with advair, but this seems more effective."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "Qvar was a major disappointment to me. I asked my doctor if I could try it out for my asthma because I had heard that apparently this medication goes deeper into the lungs than most other asthma medications. Long story short, I could have inhaled water vapor and it probably would have worked better than the Qvar. If it works for you, fantastic; however, unless your asthma is very mild or very complicated, I would not recommend Qvar as a first-line treatment."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "I feel like it makes my symptoms worse. I get this cold, tingling feeling in my throat and it feels like someone's sitting on my back. I've been on it for a few years. If anything, it makes me need to use my inhaler more"

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "I pushed for Qvar since it was no longer on the formulary and considered an exception through my insurance. The old version was my go to savior for controlling my asthma with no side effects. I found reviews here that confirm my suspicions which is my inhaler stopped dispensing the medication properly. AFTER I’ve inhaled it, the powder starts to come out of the canister. I’m not sure how many days worth of medication I’ve lost and my copay is $50. I’m on a budget so this is extremely worrisome. Now I’m not sure if I can afford to continue with it when I’m not getting my money’s worth. Also it seems that the new version isn’t as effective as the old one so I’m not sure if there has been an ingredient change or if it’s just the inefficient dispenser. I also noticed it caused hoarseness in my voice. Total disappointment to say the least."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "I am not happy with the new Qvar Redihaler! My son has autism and has been using the Qvar inhaler with the spacer tube for years with no problem. Now having to put the Redihaler in his lips and try to breathe in all the while freaking out is beyond frustrating!!! Clearly they did not consider special-needs kids when they redesigned this."

I asked primary for different script and fortunately for me, he obliged. Sorry but my asthma symptoms were way out of control using Qvar."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) "My doctor added Qvar to my treatment for COPD. I was wary about using it because of oral thrush. Put it off for a month as I was finishing up tooth implants. Went to it. Rinsed, spit, gargle, spit. Never swallowed. After 10 days I got thrush in my mouth and throat. I went on treatment and also developed a really bad, deep, loud non-productive cough. I was given antibiotics and Prednisone. I got better and then worse. Back on prednisone and hopefully it will do the trick."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "I had been on Qvar for a couple years. I didn’t realize for a while but when the inhaler changed to the RediHaler my health went downhill. My thyroid was affected, and I ended up with adrenal fatigue as well. No appetite, and after 9 months I was dropping weight fast. What finally clicked was my super super dry mouth-thrush. I started researching and found that the RediHaler can have the side effects-but they are rare. The day after I stopped this medication my appetite was back. 2 1/2 months later my energy is slowly getting back to normal, but I need to rest a lot."

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "Pharmacist explained this does not puff the drug out into your mouth. You must suck it out of the device. Being asthmatic sometimes that is not ideal as I don't have much suck, IDK who thought of such a design. So in order to get the correct dosage you kind of have to really exhale then fully inhale with your mouth closed on the device. Then after you have fully inhaled hold your breath in for a second or two. I am trying this inhaler for the first time after my pharmacist consult. wml"

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "I love the new Redihaler. I find it much better than trying to coordinate a squeeze and inhalation. I can feel the drug being pulled into my lungs and hope this type of inhaler will eventually replace the previous type of inhaler across all active ingredients for breathing disorders (not just Qvar). Realizing that many people prefer the older delivery mechanism, perhaps both can be offered as a patient's choice?"

Qvar RediHaler (beclomethasone) for Asthma, Maintenance "The very first time I used this it sprayed for so long that when I took my mouth off it was still spraying and I dropped it. The 2nd time I used it, same thing (didn't drop it though). Third time I tried to use it, didn't work at all so apparently it's because all the propellent came out. So I basically inhaled tons of HFA's and ethanol. I'm sure that's great for my lungs"
