follitropin alpha:

Initial recommended dose of the first cycle: 75 international units/day by subcutaneous injection. Additional dose adjustments of up to 37.5 international units may be considered after 14 days. Further dose adjustments of 37.5 international units can be made, if necessary, every 7 days. Doses may range from 75 to 300 international units.

follitropin beta:

75 international units/day by subcutaneous injection for up to 14 days. Increase by 37.5 international units at weekly intervals until follicular growth or serum estradiol levels indicate an adequate response. Maximum dose is 300 international units/day.

follitropin beta in Follistim AQ Cartridge: If a prescriber generally uses a starting dose of 50 international units of lyophilized gonadotropin, then the prescriber should consider using a lower starting dose of 50 international units of Follistim AQ Cartridge.

Usual Adult Dose for Follicle Stimulation

follitropin alpha:

150 international units/day by subcutaneous injection. Do not exceed 10 days.

Assisted Reproductive Technologies: 225 international units/day by subcutaneous injection. Consider dose adjustment after 5 days. Additional subsequent dosage every 3 to 5 days by 75 to 150 international units. Doses > 450 international units/day are not recommended.

follitropin beta:

Assisted Reproductive Technologies: 150 to 225 international units/day by subcutaneous injection for at least the first 4 days of treatment. The dose may be adjusted for the individual patient. Usual daily maintenance doses range from 75 to 300 international units. Maintenance doses up to 375 to 600 international units may be necessary.

Assisted Reproductive Technologies using follitropin beta in Follistim AQ Cartridge: If a prescriber generally uses a starting dose of 150 to 225 international units of lyophilized gonadotropin, then the prescriber should consider using a lower starting dose of 125 international units or 175 international units, respectively, of Follistim AQ Cartridge.

In a clinical bioavailability study that compared administration of the dissolved lyophilized follitropin beta preparation using a conventional syringe and needle in a ready to use follitropin beta solution in a cartridge injected with a pen device, it was shown that the pen device delivered a higher amount of follitropin beta.
