Flomax (tamsulosin): I am a woman taking flomax for severe urinary retention. Flomax works wonderfully, although it did not start to work for me until I had taken it for about 3 weeks. Initially there was some mild drowsiness and dizziness, which has mostly subsided. Make sure you talk to your doctor about getting on a bathroom schedule so you can eventually stop taking this. I was going 15 to 20 x/day and not able to empty below 200 ccs. This combination has gotten me down to going only 6 or 7 x/day, and completely empty.

Flomax (tamsulosin): I stopped my 4-5 time nightly peeing down to 2-3 but I get dizzy standing sometimes and always when outside in the heat playing golf. Never let myself get dehydrated and now drink electrolyte mixture. Does not interfere with outdoor exercise or biking (don't get dizzy).

Flomax (tamsulosin): It helps but there are times I just do not have time to get to a bathroom. I am 69 and have trouble getting a erection. I do not know if the drug is part of the cause.

Flomax (tamsulosin): My Doctor put me on Flomax. I took it for 2 days and don't like it. I dream all night and still get up and pee 3 times during night, also my heart rate went up. Not for me.

tamsulosin: It works for me, I'm 56 and there is a huge difference in my having to go. I have actually slept all night lately, never did before and now when I do go, it is more than the half ounce I was doing every 30 minutes or so. Before, if we went out to eat, I would have to go before we left, again when we would get to a restaurant, before we left the restaurant and as soon as we would get home. I now notice that I pass restrooms when on the road (believe me, I know where they all are), don't have to run to the bathroom whenever I get somewhere, I think you get the point. To sum it up, it works for me!
tamsulosin: Further to my comments of 19 Sept (see above): I now split the contents of the capsule into thirds. This means that I take 0.133 mg a day (in the morning). It is very effective and now I have normal bladder control. The side effects are minimal at this lower dosage - only a bit of a stiff neck which goes away after awhile or with exercise. Taking the full dosage of 0.4 mg caused very unpleasant side effects and I would not have continued with the medication.
tamsulosin: I have been using Flomax for 5 months. I can't drink tea or coffee from noon till night, when I get up to pee x3 a night, it slows my flow. If I don't drink tea or coffee I get up 3 x with a much better flow. I have frequent erections, some dry, some explosions. If I didn't use Flomax I would have trouble urinating.
tamsulosin: Positive results at first. Bladder problems gradually lessened but this relief was soon outweighed when I began to develop a severe blocked nose. This has become such a problem as I can't breath through my nose at all. I am one of the few women in the UK to be using Tamsulosin as a last resort as other medications have not been as successful as was hoped they would be.
Flomax (tamsulosin): At the age of 60 I can now drive without looking for a toilet every half an hour. Some side a effects but what the hell got my life back wish I had known about Flomax years ago.
