For Inflammatory Conditions "I sprained my lumbar spine ligaments on Tuesday night. Was barely able to walk, even after 2.5 days of taking prescribed muscle relaxer (Flexeril), Tramadol for pain, and Naproxen for inflammation. The pain got so unbearable today that I went back to Urgent Care and begged for something else. I was given a pack of prednisone. Took 2 pills immediately, then one after lunch...here it is only 4 hours later and I am already up and moving around! This medication is incredible for this condition. I only wish I had known about it all the other times I sprained by back and suffered for 1-2 weeks in agony!"

For Inflammatory Conditions "I went to the doctor for really bad lower back pain and the doc said it was a pinched nerve. I was given hydrocodone, cyclobenzaprine and prednisone 10mg. The Hydrocodone is good but the prednisone is awesome. It works fast and has really helped the inflammation in my lower back."

For Fibromyalgia "I was given prednisone for 7 yrs, I was told to get off or die. It took me 1 full yr to get off of them as we has to do it mg by mg each month. I got completely off for last 2 months, I cried every day, could hardly walk, started using a cane and wheel chair when I did get up the strength to go out. Two days ago I said SCREW this! I started on just 5mg, today I'm up and walking, no cane, I walked freely!!!! So I die earlier,? At least I'm going out able to hang out with family for as long as I can ! I've told them all my decision, they don't like , but they have their mom back, and can see how much better I am compared to 3 days ago. Yes u can gain weight, I've gained a lot in those 7 yrs,60 pounds. I'm gonna fix that!"

For Sinusitis "Suffered from chronic sinusitis for over a year. Couldn't breath through my nose and daily headaches, brain fog and congestion plagued my life. Numerous antibiotics didn't work. Got given 5 days of this tablet (30mg) and within hours it works. The swelling reduced, I could breath and my sinuses cleared in 3 days! The downside is it sent my anxiety through the roof and I didn't sleep for a week but after a year of chronic sinus problems it was nothing!! Try it :)"

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis eight years ago and have been on many concoctions of pills since. When I got really bad flares that rendered me disabled I was treated with prednisone. For me this has been a miracle. I have had it injected into affected joints and also general injections. When direct into joints, the relief is almost instant, I could walk, move my hands like a miracle. When injected generally, it took three or four separate injections over 3-4 days before any improvement but it worked every time. I have to say, I don't know what I would have done over the years without prednisone. The side effects I suffered where weight gain and insomnia but these where better than being in agony and disabled."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "It is a trap. Been taking 10 mg Prednisone daily for three years for severe RA. I also take Plaquenil. A weight gain of 35 pounds, dark circles under my eyes, scabs and bruises on my arms and legs my rheumatologist finally said ENOUGH! Now weaning off Prednisone. I have never felt worse in my life but for my burnt lung experience on Humira. My God what a terrible disease RA is. I wish something really helped. I wish there was some way to make the pain stop. Somedays I feel like a prisoner. I can't work, sitting and watching tv makes it worse, so I make up jobs to do outside and pretend like I make a contribution."

For Fibromyalgia "I have had fibromyalgia for about 8 years also develop osteoarthritis in my feet hands neck and back. Just weaning myself out of Prednisone and my pains are returning. Have decided today I will stay on prednisone and keep the dose at ten mg. Quality of life is more important to me. Just to be able to move without stiffness is a relief! I am careful what I eat, very low sugar intake and moderate exercise has helped keep my body weight normal. (Besides other inflammatory drugs are known to contribute to heart attacks). I know someone who have been on cortisone for many years and she is not overweight and has not got osteoporosis. she manages her doses her self carefully she is now 80 years old. if she can do it I can do it too"

For Inflammatory Conditions "FINALLY. This is my sixth year of dealing with excruciating herniated disc pain - L4/L5 and just this past month my cervical vertebrae (neck) had inflammation so severe I lost all feeling in my right arm. The pain has been almost unbearable. For the first time ever, I feel that my doctor has addressed the underlying cause, rather than just symptom management!! I am almost afraid to get excited, because it feels almost too good to be true. I even jogged today. The only side effect I've experienced is a bit of weird moodiness thankfully recognized and controllable, and nothing compared to the near nervous-breakdowns I was having because of the pain. Fingers crossed that this time, I can get off the pain meds and get my life back."

For Asthma "Prednisone is always my go to, like many of you I am an asthmatic as well. It seems I cannot get a simple cold without it turning into some form of bronchitis. When my abeutrol pump is no longer working that's when I know to turn to the prednisone. It makes me feel safe because I know within a few short hours I will feel normal again. As for side effects, I get jittery and speedy. Also my face gets more plump and gives me the "moon face" look. However, id rather have a fat face than not being able to breathe. Prednisone is okay in moderation, but if taken too often in big doses it can have an effect on your bones, liver etc. ❤️ Prednisone it helps me every winter"

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed to this medication about two days ago. I had had a really bad sinus congestion. I had to go into the emergency room. I had a severe blockage in both nostrils. I couldn't breathe for three days and the doctors at one point was 'lady we can not help you' and then the doctor was like 'ok I'll put you on prednisone for 5 days dosage of 60mg' I was scared at first knowing it's was a steroids. But kid you not in an hour and half I was breathing again. I felt like I was living again..."

For Inflammatory Conditions "After years of being in pain and having test after test to see why I was exhausted, my doctor placed me on a short course of this. I LOVED IT! 48 hours into it, my pain went from unbearable to really almost unnoticeable. I had never been on it. The absence of constant, debilitating pain in my life was like a miracle. I have been off it now for a few days and the pain is returning. I had no side effects other than a slight increase in appetite. I made sure to take it on time and with food. I was afraid of this drug but prefer it any day over narcotic pain killers which only mask and make me drowsy and sluggish."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I have been a long time suffer of pain I have always taken very good care of my body as I enjoy life but working on the farm thirty some odd years ago it was "a walk it off attitude" and "I've got to finish out the day..." so I kind of adapted that attitude well with time. Chiropractors and years later neck surgery. Now lower back is giving me bad pain. I've been to pain clinic's for years. I have found this The best thing for pain is prednisone - its great for inflammation, it also has many other beneficial effects. Look it up on the web. "

For Inflammatory Conditions "My mother has been on prednisone for almost four years for polumyalgia/rheumatica. We found out recently that the reason she was in such horrible back pain and could hardly walk was the extended use of prednisone. The MRI showed she had actual cracks in her spine. We are still in shock. This cannot be reversed. Even though people feel fine and really on top of the world the end result is devastating. So now we are dealing with even more pain not even associated with Polymyalgia. She will never recover from this. Everyone is different, but please look at the cons of the medicine before taking. Beware!"

For Gouty Arthritis "Prednisone has been a miracle, having severe gout for years has been a life changing experience. Gout has turned my life upside down and I've taken everything. Prednisone has given me back my normal life. With prednisone its actually given me an extra boost during work and while I coach my little league sports. Minor side effects like increase of appetite, puffy face and once in a blue moon I'll get a little short of breath (when I've taken over the prescribed dose) hasn't interfered with my daily routine enough to stop taking prednisone. I stop doing that and only take the recommended dose. I've only taken prednisone only when I need it, I've gone without it from 2 weeks to a month. Prednisone has worked miracles for me."

Deltasone (prednisone) for Rheumatoid Arthritis "Because of the length of time on Prednisone, I now look like a moon-faced pregnant linebacker. BUT, it has been the ONLY medicine since diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis that has given me any relief close to being able to function. I've been warned of the serious side effects, but with medicines everything is a trade off in my opinion. Without Prednisone, I may be out of bed a total of 2 hrs per 24hr period--& that's a GOOD day!"

For Sinusitis "I have chronic sinusitis and a large hole in my septum. I've been advised by my ENT that surgery is not an option, due to the size of the hole. Many antibiotics, saline, antihistamine, thousands spent on purifying our home and even giving away my cat to a friend... nothing. Prednisone is the only treatment which has provided much appreciated relief. If I could stay on it permanently, I would. For now, I just appreciate the intermittent courses. Each clear day is a blessing."

For Eczema "Have never had skin issues. A month before my 37th birthday my entire body broke out in a horrible rash. Was told I had severe eczema and was put on prednisone for 5 days. 40mg a day. My skin cleared up....and as soon as I was done with the prednisone the rash came back 10 times worse. I have never been so miserable. Itchy, dry, burning. Went back to see the doctor. This time he out me on 60mg of prednisone for 4 days...then 50...40...tapering off over 24 days. Skin cleared up again. 25th day...1 day being off the prednisone and the rash is already coming back. I do not want to be on oral steriods. I can't sleep, I am aggressive. Topical creams had done nothing prior. Even cortisone cream didn't help with the itch at all. I know they will give me prednisone again. I mean this rash covers my body...face..arms..legs...torso. Please tell me there is something better then being in Prednisone."

For Fibromyalgia "I was diagnosed with fibro about 10 years ago. The symptoms have gradually gotten worse in that time, mental fog, joint pain, muscle pain, lack of energy. I am on a good diet of more natural foods and find that the energy side isn't too bad normally. I was prescribed prednisolone for gout, and low and behold ALL my symptoms improved. Pain, energy, clarity all were markedly improved. When I ceased treatment the symptoms returned and I have been on and off the pred for about 2 months. When I take it, I can (and want to) do stuff it is wonderful. On my first return to the docs I told her she had cured me. Imagine my disappointment when I was told I could stay on it. Well the fibro is not getting any better so the doc has re-prescribed pred for my symptoms to get a read of where I am at. Will keep you posted."

For Sinusitis "I have severe allergies, combined with chronic sinus and ear troubles. Every few months, I need prednisone to help with inflammation. It kicks in so quickly, and that familiar, dull ache finally subsides. With the taper pack, the side effects are minimal, but the most notable are an increased appetite and energy level. Thankfully, the two of these together seem to balance out, and I usually don't gain weight."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I took 10 mg oral prednisone for about 3 months, and I was pleased that there were little to no side effects for me. Within a few days about 90% of pain in back, hands, knees shoulders disappeared for the first time in over 20 yrs or more. It was wonderful, but now my doctors are refusing to prescribe prednisone anymore for me. They say it makes bones brittle. Yet, none of them will prescribe another kind of medicine, saying my ana and sed rates are only a little on the high side. What can I do now?"

For Inflammatory Conditions "I have suffered for many years with muscle pain from autoimmune conditions. Lately,it seems I have developed polymyalgia rheumatica which meant that my arms , legs and gluteal muscles were incredibly painful. I Couldn't move in bed or walk properly. On 30 mgs of prednisolone for 3 days and then reducing the dose gradually each day. I am at last free of pain...it is marvellous to feel normal again after so long. I am aware of all the side effects but will take as little as possible to relieve the inflammation in my muscles and tendons. One has to be very respectful of this drug but used correctly it has at least given me some respite. I am a 58 year olds female."
