MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) "Love, love, love miralax/ducolax prep. Much better than other preps. The doctor put me on a low-fiber diet for 7 days and drank additional water. If I was constipated took one Dulcolax for 2 days before prep day. On the day of prep, I took a nausea tablet one hour before and a Gasx tablet with 4 Dulcolax tablets at noon. Drank 8 oz water/Gatorade hourly. Later at 6 pm, I took Miralax prep, another nausea, and another Gasx and I drank water/Gatorade hourly. I had no cramps or nausea. Not sure if nausea or cramp meds were needed but didn’t want to take a chance. Super easy prep. Used lemon-lime Gatorade. Next day second half of prep although things were pretty clear the first day of prep with nausea and Gasx helped. Good luck. It was a breeze."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) "Started this on the evening before the test After the first litre heart started racing, vision was affected migraine eye disturbances followed by migraine type headache then uncontrollable dithering / shaking. Hospital tests rule out stroke etc. Decided this prep didn't suit me. A frightening experience I didn't repeat it and my Dr switched me to a MRI."

"Took the Dulcolax at 1:30 pm. Had 1 explosion about 2:30. Mixed the Miralax with lime Gatorade and drank 32 oz. at 3:30 pm. Started to the bathroom about 10 minutes later. Lasted about 45 minutes back and forth to bathroom. Took the 2nd dose at 6:30 pm. Same thing. Stools by this time were water and almost clear. Had to wake up twice during the night but was done by morning. Only thing was I was so thirsty but couldn't drink before procedure at 8:15 am. My tips...eat a low fiber diet 2 days before. Don't gorge yourself the day before (only makes you more hungry). I drank chicken broth, jello, gatorade, and apple juice. I didn't feel hungry at all. Completely clean for procedure. Got home, ate scrambled eggs and toast and took a nap. Stools back to normal within 2 days. Whole experience wasn't bad at all."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) "This is by far the best bowel prep. No taste. Just make sure you mix with liquid IV or Gatorade. The electrolytes are very important! I also took Zofran for nausea 30 minutes prior to the prep and every 4 hours afterwards. Never got nauseated but didn't want to risk it. Another tip is to start the prep about an hour early so you have plenty of time to get it down. I love the early morning appointments too before the doctor gets behind! Good luck and enjoy that wonderful sedation!"

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) "This was my first colonoscopy. I'm getting it due to age, not GI issues. I followed all of the instructions to the letter: low fiber diet for two days. On the day before, mixed a 236 gram bottle of Miralax with 64 oz of Gatorade Zero in morning. Took 4 Ducolax at 2 pm then 8 oz of Miralax/Gatorade mixture at 4:15 and every 15 minutes until I completed the 64 oz. Clear liquid diet. Nothing for about 3 hours, but afterwards some movement. However not enough. Even though I passed everything I could, my doctor said I wasn't clean and I need to repeat the procedure. There was significant stuff still left inside. Now I have to do a whole other prep with prescription meds in 6 months. Giant waste of time and energy."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) "A doctor prescribed MiraLAX for me to take on a regular basis for constipation. After about half a year my bladder began burning! This went on for 3 months. No relief except a little with lemonaide. Now I need a colonoscopy again and am afraid to use MiraLAX after this episode. I had used it for a prep previously. Has anyone else been through this? I need the colonoscopy but don't know what med to use. Thanks. (p.s. I have stage 3 kidney disease...gfr 48. Or I'd use magnesium citrate.)"

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) "I have a coloscopy every five years. This time my doctor told me to get Dulcolax and Miralax as the bowel prep. Their instructions were to take four Dulcolax at noon and then four hours later to start taking the Miralax. They said to mix the Miralax with two quarts of clear liquid. I chose sugar free Sprite. No instructions were given as to how much to drink at a time. At first nothing happened, then about two hours later, I had horrible stomach pains and severe diarrhea that continued through the night. At no time was it ever clear fluid. I went to the clinic the next day at ten but was concerned. Before the procedure my doctor asked me how I liked the Miralax which was unusual because he has never asked me this before. I told him it was not as effective as previous preps. Evidently this became pretty evident during the procedure because he noted on my chart that it wasn't. I had diarrhea for three days afterward. Never again."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) "Used MiraLAX for colonoscopy prep. MiraLAX itself is tasteless. I mixed it with my favorite blue Gatorade and drank it slightly cooled without issues. Perfectly clean colon, according to my doctor. I would do this prep again in a heartbeat! Only had to drink 64 oz. split into two doses compared to larger amounts with other preps. (Heard a lot of horror stories about terrible tasting high-volume preps)"

"Worked perfectly after drinking 4 Liters (10oz every 15 minutes) 2 liters the night before and 2 liters the day of, finishing 3 hours before the procedure. No side effects at all. I suggest "chasing" with white cranberry juice. This prevented any after taste and possible nausea. Taste is the only reason I gave it a nine but it really wasn%u2019t bad when chilled. Note that if you let the liquid get really cold you won%u2019t be able to drink it fast."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) "I took 2 ducalax tablets at 4 (totally forgot to take with a bunch of water) my stomach was in knots after about 30 minutes. I felt awful. Then I started the first half (32 ounces and 119 ounces of miralax) about 30 minutes after drinking it, I felt so so sick! It was like I induced the flu. My stomach hurt so bad and I was extremely nauseous. It subsided after a hour and a half. I think crapped my brains out for 4 hours. I took the second dose and I felt the same way. Felt extremely flu like for hours! My stomach hurt so bad! More pooping for about 4 hours. I honestly don’t know if I would recommend this way. It honestly cleared me out tho. They said it was a good prep. The nausea wasn’t worth it."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) "This prep never worked for me but my GI still has me do it. Everyone’s body is different and reacts to bowel stimulation differently. There are so many articles saying that it should work but no alternatives if it doesn’t. I’m annoyed my doctor still has me doing this. I have taken 2 to 3 times the dosage and ended up with nothing but excruciating pain. Does anyone out there experience this?"

ClearLax (polyethylene glycol 3350) "I used it instead of Miralax because of the nice price, but soon regretted it. Clearlax made me extremely sick. I was very nauseated with vomiting, and no pooping at all (probably because I threw up everything). I poured it all out and bought more Miralax."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) "I have had about five colonoscopies over a span of twenty-five years. By far, this was the most pleasant prep I have had. Mixed with Crystal Lite lemonade and you could tell you were drinking any prep. I had no side effects. I asked the doctor afterwards on a scale of 1 to 10 how clean I was, and he said an 8. I have never tried any colonoscopy pills, but for liquid preps, this was the easiest to consume."

"I have had a reaction to a medication before and was warned that I might be allergic to PEG. I was prescribed Miralax for colonoscopy prep, but at the time did not see that the main ingredient was PEG. After taking my dosage, within a couple of hours I was hit with severe chills, heart palpitations and agonizing bone/joint ache, I obviously did survive this. I did have bone/joint achiness for at least the next 24 hours. I see that other people have not reported this here, but I thought this was a good place to make people aware of the possibility."

"Have had 4 colonoscopies and this last one was with PEG 3350 solution by Strides Pharma. It did not work as well as other solutions for clearing in spite of taking entire gallon the night before. Doc will now want me on liquid diet for 2 days prior. Frustrating, as I need colonoscopies every 3 years due to small polyps. Never had this problem before, so wondering if this brand of solution isn't as strong. It seemed to take much longer to work also."

"I had a severe allergic reaction to this drug which required that I stop taking it and get treatment. I had to reschedule my colonoscopy and take something else. The first time I had this reaction, it was to GoLytely, which is the same as CoLyte. The second time it was to MiraLAX, and that was even worse, and I ended up in the ER. Some people are allergic to polyethylene glycol."

"It didn't work too well for me. It took 4 hrs before the dump, and when I did it was in small quantities throughout the day and no more. The bloating was so uncomfortable, but nothing major.. Got a script for Gavilyte and that worked wonders."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) "I had an overall good experience with this before my first colonoscopy. Reading all of the horror stories got me on my nerves and worried about the prep process. I am happy to report that it turned out to be a very smooth process. I took 2 bottles 119g each with 2 bottles of Gatorade (split dose). As soon as I heard/felt any kind of stomach rumbling/churning, I just head for the toilet. I had no nausea, no vomiting, I only had very mild cramping - very tolerable. The things that may have helped me was to prep before the prep: - Have light meals 5 to 7 days before the prep - Have a low fiber diet 5 to 7 days before the prep - Have plenty of fluids in the days leading to the prep day and during prep day - Try to have daily BM (don't strain) 5 to 7 days before prep day - the less you got in there, the less needs to come out - my apologies for the TMI. I hope this helps calms some nerves."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) "I have IBD and have had over six colonoscopies. I find this prep the least objectionable, with good results. I don't like split dosing or two-day preps as I am still pooping on the way to the procedure and therefore have to wear a depends or adult diaper. The cleanout is good, and the taste is not as bad as other preps. I wish the volume was less since it still makes you drink half a gallon of fluids plus a separate oral laxative too."
