For Bronchitis "A week after I had the H1N1 "swine" flu, I was having trouble breathing (bronchitis or pneumonia?) and the ER doctor prescribed 400 mg Avelox for six days. By the third day I was breathing much clearer, and now at day five it seems I can breathe deeper than I think I have in years. In fact, I think my lungs are a little sore from the good deep-breathing exercise! A great benefit has been that the Avelox has also been clearing up a chronic sinus infection that I've had for years (even after surgery) - the pressure headache is gone, and the post-nasal drip is barely noticeable now. I am not having any side effects that I can attribute directly to the medicine that I know of. So far so good; thank you Avelox!"

For Sinusitis "I have never reacted to an antibiotic, Ever, In my whole life. Until now. Within 30 mins of taking Avelox, I was experiencing nausea, sweats, shortness of breath, heart flutters. I was so weak I had to be carried to bed. Then the vomiting started, it was short-lived, but violent. It also has many NSAID contraindications, so be careful. Especially if your sinus infection is very painful, watch what you take. Glad to see it's worked for some - but for me."

For Bronchitis "I had the H1N1 flu and then developed Bronchitis. After 3 days of taking Avelox, I had hives all over my body. I stopped the medicine 5 days ago and still have hives. The bronchitis seems to be gone. I also experience pains in my muscles and weakness and tightness in my chest and palpitations. I don't think I will be taking this medicine again."

For Bacterial Infection "This past Wednesday my right nostril was a little sore, figured I was a little overly aggressive with the allergy early morning blowing. By Friday 3:30 am I woke up to stabbing pain all on the right side of my face! Swollen and the tissue was HARD, nasal passage (where the infection started) was 3/4 closed! Today is day 4, my face is pliable again, still a little stiff close to my right nostril, but my lips, cheeks and eyes feel great, nostril very slightly tender in comparison to Wednesday. This Avelox works only problem I've had is dry mouth (drinking plenty of water) and a little light headed/dizzy, but I'm not driving so that's okay!"

For Sinusitis "Yes, It works! However, the side effects are horrible. Light-headed and majorly dizzy, to the point where I was very uncomfortable driving. This is the 2nd time I've used it and the same results each time. Caused me to call out of work for a whole week until the side affect were gone."

For Bacterial Infection "Avelox rocks. I had a bacterial infection and did not realize it until I was in an urgent care after 8 days of misery. I went in thinking I had a double ear infection but was diagnosed with a bacterial infection. I am allergic to Amoxicillin so my Doctor gave me Avelox. I don't like it at all because of its side effects but it works. After one day on it, I felt like a million bucks. However, my skin itches a wee bit, I'm dizzy, feel anxious and paranoid. I have almost every side effect. I made the mistake of taking it on an empty stomach and heading to my daughters school to pick her up. Just be careful. Learn how your body reacts to it."

For Bronchitis "I was prescribed this medication for bronchitis and it is hands down the most terrible medication I have ever taken. Within an hour of taking the first dose, I had nausea and vomiting so bad that I ended up in the emergency room and even after receiving fluids and IV Phenergan I was still dry heaving. Never again!"

For Sinusitis "The only problem I have with this medication so far is how expensive it is. So far the only side effects I have had are a light-headed feeling. Similar to a feeling of an antihistimine with psuedophedrine in the mix. I am already starting to feel better."

For Bacterial Infection "I was diagnosed as having actinomycosis (lumpy jaw). First was put on amoxicillin and then changed to Avelox (now in week 2 of it). Will continue it for another month and a half, then will be switched to another antibiotic for a while. The Dr. is an infectious disease specialist and said that my condition takes a long time to cure. So far, no ill side-effects. The lumpy jaw came about after mouth surgery to remove a cancer, and so far (almost 2 years), no more cancer! I also had radiation and chemo for the cancer. Keeping on keeping on!"

For Bacterial Infection "Had a very resistant infection and was prescribed this medication. Went into anaphylactic shock after it stared digesting. Cold and hot sweats, drooling , splotchy skin color , swelling of throat, loss of feeling in left side of my body for 2 days and brief loss of consciousness until ambulance arrived. Just didn't work well with my body."

For Pneumonia "I'm on my 11th day (out of 20 days) taking Avelox and it works, beside having a headache and shortness breathing everything seems to be working great. After 10 days of taking it my pneumonia was 75% better."

For Sinusitis "Have had 2 sinus surgeries in the past 5 years. This is the first sinus infection since my last surgery (2 months of sinus infection) and I just started Avelox yesterday. So far not much of a side effect, have some nausea (but that sure beats another surgery). Good luck all."

For Intraabdominal Infection "After 4 failed antibiotic regimens (and 6 doctors) finally discovered mycoplasma hominis infection, which had now been in kidneys for 8 weeks. I am a 55 year old male and have high energy, but the extreme lethargy and fatigue kept me in bed a crazy amount of time - could do almost nothing! It was helpful reading other reviews here as I have never been so tired in my life! But the drug worked (it is one of the very few that are successful on this germ) - I took probiotics and was fortunate not to have diarrhea. Just remind yourself the drug is doing its job and try to suffer through the side effects!"

For Pneumonia "This drug definitely saved my life! I began to see changes to my severe pneumonia condition after the 3 tablet with minimal side effects. Course completed: 10 tablets (one per day) Avelon (Moksifloksasien 400mg). After Effects: I continued to have a wheezing sound coming from my lungs for months afterwards even though I completed the course as instructed. Perhaps this was due to a secondary infection?"

For Bronchitis "I am rarely ill so have not taken a lot of medications; I also have a sensitivity to medications. I told this to the prescribing physician when seen for bronchitis. She prescribed avelox and by day 3 I had developed large red welts; went back to the Doctor who determined it was erythema nodosum. Avelox was overkill for someone like me - it was way to strong and this was a horrible side effect."

For Bronchitis "This is the third time I am prescribed Avelox. The first time for pneumonia and the last two times for bronchitis. This is by far one of the most potent antibiotic available. Doctors are very reluctant in prescribing this antibiotics because it is basically the last defence. Thus, doctors will tend to prescribe other, less potent antibiotics first, the reason being that bacteria will eventually adapt to any Antibiotics. So it should only be prescribe when required."

For Pneumonia "I felt much, much better after taking Avelox for 5 days, I did not notice any side effects with it. Three days after I stoped taking it, my symptoms came back and I think my doctor should've had me take it for 10 days, not 5 like she did."

For Pneumonia "I just finished taking this after a 6 day period for pneumonia. It was all fine, except for the restless leg syndrome at night, but that I could handle with an iron pill. The last day I took it I woke up in the middle of the night with severe itching, I took a shower, changed my bed sheets, used lotion and topical creams. I took 2 Benadryl and nothing worked! The only good thing, is my symptoms dissipated after a couple of days!"

For Sinusitis "I have never seen an antibiotic work as quickly as this one did. It seemed to work faster than any over-counter-decongestant. I really had no side effects that I know of aside from, perhaps a bit of sleeplessness the first night or two. I avoided caffeine while using this drug for that reason. My only concern was the $245 doctor visit for about a 3.5 minute visit with the doctor. I have no insurance, so well maybe it wasn't so bad as I probably would have had to have paid that much per month for six years before the insurance company covered $50 dollars of that visit! Anyway, no matter it was worth it & I will just send them money little by little to pay them off. At least the let the bill get billed to me. Avelox was a "free" sample!"

For Bronchitis "Wonder drug in my opinion. It cleared me up in 2.5 days and I discontinued use. I almost didn't believe I actually WAS sick in the first place because of how quickly it worked... I thought maybe it was allergy? Skeptic and Non- compliant patient, I know. It came back 3 weeks later.... I'm not as successful this time around.... day 4 and not much relief yet... but I WILL continue the 10 days this time. I learned my lesson."

For Pneumonia "I asked my doctor for Avalox for my pneumonia, but she told me that I cannot take it (I had it before with a doc that DIDN'T warn me that I can't take it) because I have Hypothyroidism and am on Thyroxine. I wondered why so looked it up. It keeps your body from properly taking on the Thyroxine. You end up with hair loss, itching, etc. (all the hypothyroid problems). I'm upset because it worked so well for me in the past for chest infection. So back to double doses of Amoxicillin (makes me sick) THREE times per day"

For Bacterial Infection "I'm on day 8 of this medicine and other than experiencing mild side effects I find that my sinus are still clogged, my ear canals are swollen and I have swelling of the throat which makes me look like I have an extremely large double chin, or a balloon under the skin. My sinuses are still experiencing severe pain and pressure. "
