"This is my second night. My Dr prescribed me with 1mg but it didn't seem to work. So then he said to increase to 2mg. I had good night sleep on the 1st night at 2mg.. But on the second night after 2 pills of 1mg I still wide awake."

"I have difficulty with insomnia and have taken a low dose of lorazepam on occasion. Each time I wake up well rested in the morning without having difficulty waking or feeling drugged in the morning. I have also tried Ambien which was an utter disaster and I will leave my review for it also. Believe me when I say lorazepam is a much safer sleep aid."

"I recently went through an experience that triggered my anxiety. I have always had anxiety, social, load noises, smaller sleeping quarters, etc. My sleep regimen now consists of taking 15mg of Remeron and 1mg of lorazepam. I know the lorazepam is very addictive but I tried to go for 4 days without it and my anxiety came back pretty high, so I'm back on it. I talked to someone else who has bad anxiety and trouble sleeping and they take Xanax at night. It's really difficult for me to have to take such a powerful drug at night but at this time with all the other stressors in life, the election, Covid I don't have much of a choice. I hope to find a better way to relax in the upcoming months and slowly taper off of it or switch to a different medication. If you do decide to stop taking this drug and have anxiety you will need a plan to do so. There are methods. Google benzo org uk for the withdrawal schedule"

Ativan (lorazepam) "Ativan can be a two-edged sword. I have a prescription for 0.5 mg to be used as needed for anxiety and/or sleep. It works really well for both. I just have to be careful not to use it too often (it's tempting) because there are uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. I want to have it on hand because when I have a days-long anxiety episode, it's the only thing that helps calm me down. However, my doctor told me that regular, long-term use of Ativan can increase the risk for Alzheimer's. Articles I've read on this confirm his warning. That's a good enough incentive for me to use it sparingly. 7/10 Stars for Ativan due to its helpfulness, but with accompanying risks."

"I was prescribed Loraxapam about 5 yrs ago for anxiety & panic disorders that just started out of the blue - well the panic attack did - then the anxiety came afert was so frightening! . My doctor put me on three 1mg tabs three times a day to start with...and I sure needed them. I did have this problem for a couple months then..not being one who likes taking med and through other counselling help recommended by doc I was able to go between 1-3 a day till I eventually got to mostly 1mg at night. I do not believe a 1mg taken at reasonable hr of night can cause you to keep falling asleep during day..however I could be totally wrong. It helps greatly with sleeping as does half a tab also..which I'm down to on occasions only now. I did wean myself from one to 3/4's to half to 1/4 over couple of weeks just to be sensible but I can't say they're more addictive, and I don't believe they're harder on body than I've seen with antidepressants with people. But my caution here is..of course you do have to use along with other helps so you're not dependant on high amounts. I was having a script every so often to have on hand and or so in end to help me wind down and sleep..now I'm fine and probably won't get anymore! I was told doctors don't recommend these so quickly as they don't get the incentives from the drug company for prescribing them, as they do with the newer drugs."

"Have been taking .5mg for a few years. Used to wake up at 1 or 2a.m. with all the lights on, so to speak. Am a stem cell recipient because of leukemia. Originally blamed it all on other prescription drugs I was on, especially immunosuppresents. But as I have been slowly removed from all these other meds, I still was experiencing middle of night sleeplessness. Have occasionally tried a full 1mg pill but saw no difference. The .5 mg dose does just fine for me. Remember, in most states it is considered a controlled substance, so DO NOT drive until 8 hours after using"

"I was on Lorazepam for at least 10 years for Restless Leg Syndrome and was told it is a dangerous drug. I stopped cold turkey. After 4 days I was in very bad shape. Immediately I called my Primary Care Doctor who put me on Clonazepam, Mirtazapine, Ropinirole and Hydroxyzine. That was the start of many other drugs for sleep, anxiety and I could go on and on. That was the last 8 months, I went through Hives, Rashes, No SLEEP ETC. I have lost all my body muscle, am down to 106 lbs, loss my hair, my gums are now receding. I am now very depressed and angry, what could be worse than this? My Doctor just gave me Zoloft 6 days ago and I had it had a horrible effect of me, my face was pulsating all night, my mouth was so very dry. When will this end. I am 78 and firmly believe they never should have taken me off of Lorazepam. I was healthy, happy not taking medications except for Lorazepam. I am miserable and see no end in this except for the Doctors to give me more medication. I was on 6 MG for a long time."

"I only need to take 0.5 mg at night and get the best night's sleep and wake up ready to work! Doctor doesn't want me to keep taking it due to the addictive nature, but nothing else seems to work, or, I'm super groggy in the morning with other meds. I'll keep taking it until it stops working."

"I have bad anxiety and am severely depressed and have bad insomnia. Doctor prescribed me Ativan. I took one at night to help me sleep. It helped me sleep alright all night. Woke up had a coffee then promptly fell asleep again had lunch at 1130 was up for an hour and a half. I then promptly fell asleep again the whole afternoon. That is the one and only time I took one. I told my GP I was prescribed this and told him I am not taking anymore as all I do is sleep. I do not know what is worse insomnia or sleeping all the time. He then told me to keep taking it what did he not understand. So I am not taking it anymore and will just deal with it on my own with no pills."

"Have used this for insomnia and also anxiety about 3 years now. I have a reasonable doctor who recognized that being a sole caretaker to my parents, in their 90s, is exhausting and I need to sleep but couldn't because of excessive worrying. He first thought of sleeping pills, but I said I needed to be alert enough to wake up in case my peeps needed me. Hence, the lorazepam. Relaxes me enough to sleep but I can hear and wake if I am called. My prior clinic---where I never saw a doctor, only assistants--would not prescribe me any benzos because they think everyone is an addict. They suggested antidepressants which is idiotic because they do NOT work in the same gentle manner as the benzodiazepines. Plus, I wasn't depressed. I take one 1mg lorazepam a day, although at times of great distress, like when there was a death in the family, I took the dosage as it is prescribed which is 3 times a day as needed, now I'm reducing the dosage again. I have no side effects from it."

Ativan (lorazepam) "1mg twice a day has resulted in a reduction of manic behavior, but regular sleep still eludes me. I'm averaging 3-4 hrs/night on Ativan vs 1-2 prior to this prescription. Overall, the medication has proven effective in all ways *except* ability to sleep adequately."

"I was prescribed lorazepam, for anxiety attacks and sleep. The first five pills I had lasted a year. After took one pill I fell asleep within one hour and woke up feeling refreshed. I find myself using it once a month now. I really think its great short term fix when paired with a long term plan (citalopram)"

"My pharmacy switch to this brand lorazepam and I started taking it and can no longer sleep. Lorazepam was supposed to be for my insomnia but this generic of it was horrible it did not make me tired it did not turn my thoughts off it was basically useless and I had to keep taking it for 60 days because my pharmacy couldn't order the other brand. I don't know how to check this out but I believe it has too many fillers in it that counteract the medicine. I just got more anxious cuz I couldn't sleep."

"I made an appointment with my doctor for frequent anxiety episodes that would last for days. He prescribed Lorazepam .5mg to be used as needed. It works great for calming me down but lately I've been using one-half tablet (.25mg) just about every night for when I wake up at 1:30am and can't get back to sleep. It just works. One benefit to using it during the night is that it seems to help prevent those days-long bouts with anxiety. Side-effects seem non-existent except for the 'calm' that I'm left with in the morning. However, from what I've read, I'm concerned that it will eventually lose its effectiveness. Not sure what I'll do then. I rate it at 9 since it has potential for dependency and possible loss of effectiveness with long-term use."
