For Local Anesthesia "Maybe I seemed 'brand preferential.' I was using 2% Lidocaine gel internally. I had problems. It still hurt daily. Hobbling like 'Quasimodo.' I could feel the tear when I moved the wrong way. (Yowza!) Not strong enough. I went to a specialist. CT/Scope soon. He prescribed 5%. It only comes as Zensa here. Follow the directions in the box! My pharmacist gave bad advice! Never put it inside yourself. The main non-active ingredient is Benzyl Alcohol. (More than water) It burns inside! Outside is fine. No problem on most external areas. Spare your eyes. I can stand up! It's strong enough but it's overpriced. Working better than 2% internally. ($) Putting the 5% externally is more effective and easier for a FISSURE. +Nifedipine 0.2% gel. (For healing, no anesthesia.) 5% is less expensive overall. It seems I have Crohn's or more likely a form of Colitis. Zensa works as a FISSURE anesthetic. The pain has moved upward. I'm more mobile. It's also a nice cream. A small dab on my abdomen helps."

For Local Anesthesia "I noticed a couple of extra things. Because I started using a small dab, about the size of 3-4 grains of rice, on my abdomen. It covers an area of about 4 square inches below the navel. It's been very helpful for my other problem, which could be either Crohn's or a form of Colitis. For general skin use, I find it best to have a bare stomach (no clothes in the way) and slowly apply/rub the cream onto the area directly from the tube. Be careful not to touch it, as it will absorb and evaporate. Make sure to wash your hands if you accidentally touch it, as it would probably be bad if you rub your eyes without washing them. Considering my internal experience, I can confirm that getting this cream in your eyes is not recommended. Overall, it's pretty good, but quite expensive. I can easily go through this 30ml tube in a week, even though I'm trying to use it sparingly. However, you do need to use a certain amount for it to have the proper effect, especially for a fissure. The cream is soothing, kind of like a warming pad on my abdomen but it also numbs the area. I can move around a bit, but not at 100%."
